No seriously, I gained quite a few followers during my Wenclair Era, and don’t get me wrong I still adore Wenclair to absolute pieces, but RWBY has been a special hyperfixation of mine fer YEARS. It’s been an interest that hibernates on and off during hiatuses but nothing has ever latched onto my psyche so deeply as RWBY has with all of its faults and good parts alike. Once Feb 18 drops, I swear to you I will be the most obnoxious person e v e r like I will be rwbyrotting so hard I will SCREAM and CRY and HOLLER about Bumbleby and Whiterose and my babygirl Ruby finally finally finally getting some fresh hot juicy character development but I’ve missed all of the girls in general and!!! Many people have already said it better than I can but I really love that this volume showed that Emerald and Mercury can and need to grow without each other, and right now they may have ideals and goals in direct opposition of one another, but they still deeply care for each other. Mercury repeatedly entreats Emerald to join him in his rise to power, to detach herself from Cinder; while Emerald, when she’s about to blow the lid open on Salem’s operation, asks Mercury to come with her, to commit treason. 

I saw some worry before this last episode aired that they’d be growing seperately, but I don’t think that’s it, because if they truly weren’t working together, Mercury would’ve sounded the alarm to Tyrian re: Emerald, and Emerald could’ve just not told Mercury what she was about to do. If they really wanted the other to die with their cause, they could’ve done that, but they left the option open for the other even just to live without them. 

If Mercury takes the steps to defect (I think there’s a decent chance he will, he just has a slow burn), I think he and Emerald are eventually going to meet on the other side, better for having been able to grow without each other for a little while.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE RWBY FANDOM

So lately I have seen a lot of in-fighting between various ‘ship factions’ and such amongst the fandom, which despite the fact I don’t approve, I have no control over. However I have seen some try to bring these fights to the cast and crew of the show, and it has never gone down well. I would just like you all to step back for a moment and think about where you are. This is just a show. Yes you care deeply about these ships and characters, and there are valid issues and worries that should be addressed, but petty fighting and attacking will do us no good. Especially not when it gets to the point that a cast member feels alienated and as if part of a witch hunt to the point that they seclude themselves from the fan base.

If feel it is as a good time as any to remind all you that the cast and crew are PEOPLE and despite how much you might think it, they do not owe us anything. As much as you might think you are owed the ships you seek for whatever reason, the decision lays purely in the hands of the crew and we must respect their choices and decisions, regardless of our view on them. Your ships may happen, they may not. Either way it is no one’s “fault” as it is not a problem. If the crew wish to interact with the fandom that is up to them, but this does not mean that we are guaranteed or owed any say in the show. We certainly aren’t entitled to starting a barrage of blaming and attacks on the crew. This does nothing and is not productive in any way. It’s time for a reality check.

If you don’t like the show, leave it.

If you have criticisms, express them respectfully.

If you are interacting with members of the show, remember that they are people.

Erin’s tweet reminded me of some one off actor AU thoughts that @everhaunting and I kicked around earlier this year

-Ruby and Yang are actually sisters, and neither one knew the other was auditioning

-Yang does her own stunts and the stuntpeople are out for her blood by like, episode 3 each year

-Sun was originally Ruby's trainer to learn how to use CR. He was showing off one day and she decided to have him audition

-Jaune got to write some small parts of episodes before becoming a more consistent writer, he gets at least 2 or 3 episodes per season (he prefers to write episodes where he won’t do much or show up)

-Each of the girls directed one another's V5 shorts. Yang did Weiss', Blake did Ruby's, Weiss did Yang's, and Ruby did Blake's

-Ruby watches theory videos and sometimes she'll reply w 🌚 or 🤔

-Towards the end of V5, Yang asked the cast to record themselves watching the episode w the Spring Maiden reveal. Raven showed up @ her and Ruby's apartment to record Ruby's face

Originally, JYR were gonna react to it transforming and getting wings, but then at the last minute the other writers pulled the mocap guy (Qrow) aside and told him to say it. That was genuine shock on their faces. (Once the cameras stopped rolling, Oscar flipped his shit)

-The first 1/3 of V8 shooting, Hazel and Salem kept going "I'm sorry, I'm SO SORRY" to Oscar in between takes

-Emerald's defection was kept a surprise from her until the table read. Everyone else knew and when she got to the "switched sides" line she teared up

How do you feel about Nora's portrayal in this most recent season? Specifically where Ren is concerned?

I have... mixed feelings.

She’s steeping you and isn’t afraid to speak up for people who can’t voice it for themselves and I’m here for it. Where Ren is concerned however... I don’t like the way their relationship is being handled. There was gradual build up since day one with these two, and I can kinda get Nora’s frustrations. But Ren wasn’t ready to talk about it and she didn’t give him that choice. Then there’s the fact that they HAVE NOT TALKED TO EACH OTHER SINCE. The hand hold on the airship was bittersweet because like... yes they still clearly love each other but their faces afterwards very much screamed ‘HEY WE’RE NOT OKAY’. They’re both confused about how they’re supposed to be right now and they need to t a l k. It just... feels like all that build up was for nothing right now because they’ve just been sidelined again hardcore.
