Little me was so cute but so dense sometimes. Growing up, I would say whatever was on my mind. And since little me didnt know racism existed, I used to say to POC that I loved their skin! Little me saw it as a compliment, but they didnt. They always thought I was being racist, though at the time I had no idea what racism was. I just thought they looked neat. And since I was curious as well, I would ask why their skin was that colour. No one ever told me about melanin in skin and stuff like that, so I never knew why we looked so different. I never intended to be rude, or insulting, or racist. I thought I was being sweet and curious!

If by Asian Jesus, you mean Middle Eastern Asian? Yeah. And by Middle East, I mean the Middle East that was created in 1901. So, whatever it was called before that & before the man-made Suez Canal of 1869 was created to separate Israel from Egypt. So, those people of Israel who were scattered to parts of Africa, Asia, & some parts of Europe to escape the Romans? Yes. One could describe Jesus as Asian from a certain perspective with modern terminology.

An extra tidbit, the story of Aladdin is actually that of a Chinese man who thought that Jafar was his uncle. Jafar was Ethiopian. All the characters just have Arabic names despite the setting being in China.

Seems to me that long ago, the people of that area had some sort of genetic similarty to those of the Orient & Africa. And since Miriam & Yoseph hid Yeshua (Hebrew names for Mary, Joseph, & Jesus) in the land of Lower Misr/Mizriam (which is located in the North because the modern world map is actually upside-down), they must have resembled the ancient Egyptians in some way if they managed to blend in & successfully hide from Herod. Not to mention that the nation of Israel were people that consisted of Israelites and those from other nations who came to worship with them (proselytes); which included Egyptians amongst some others. They also had children with women of foreign nations when they were not supposed to. So, by modern terms, the Israelites of old would had been considered multiracial to a small degree.

(This is because there was no division of "race" back then. I may need to do further research, but the invention of race came about during the middle or late 1700's by Europeans. There were just tribes, tongues {languages}, & nations during Biblical times. This separation of "race" during the 1700's resulted in the more distinct "races" of today. That and the genocide & rape done by European colonizers who forced their ways on their own people and then on the rest of the world. But if you know anything about genetics, it was impossible for a people with recessive genetics to genetically overtake other groups who had more dominant traits. Thus, the genocide was more effective since the rape wasn't as effective as they may have hoped. Ironic that they invented race only for their own invention to reveal they were genetically recessive. Isn't "race" a stupid construct? A construct fueled by fear, resulting in hatred.)

And if ppl wanna use Noah's sons to explain that "races" existed before, then just know that some of Japheth's descendants are considered to be the progenitors of the Chinese peoples. Ya know, the people who resembled certain Africans during ancient times because the creation & division of people based upon color had not happened yet. Don't folks understand that after 2 generations of "racial" mixing, the children look different from their grandparents? A lot of historical statements aren't full truths. The reality is that separation of "races" is like how humans bred dogs. All of these dog breeds we have today didn't always exist. They came about by invention, separation, & selective breeding. And humans made the foolish decision to treat themselves and others like animals, creating the idea that there are different breeds of humans that we now call "races."

It hurts to see how normalized whitewashing has become in media and fandom.

People are so caught up in making racism one thing, like slurs or stereotypes, that they forget or intentionally ignore the many layers to racism and it’s casual role in society and media.

Whitewashing pushes Eurocentric standards like beauty or lifestyle as the ideal, and actively harms People of Color by looking down upon or erasing our features, skin tones and culture.

Whitewashing is racist. Whitewashing is a form of racism.

Whitewashing is harmful, whitewashing is degrading, it’s dehumanizing. It makes you feel ashamed. It makes you feel ignored.

It makes you feel ugly.

Yet it’s so normalized that people don’t even recognize it as racist.

A comic book character with dark skin is played by a light skinned actor in live action, but no one blinks because both character and actor are the same race. They ignore the colorism.

An animated show based on a live action media animates an Actor of Color with lightened eyes, a thin nose and lightened skin. But no one blinks because “it’s just animation.”

A character of color’s culture is removed or pushed aside for a more American centric story and plays into the “American Dream” stereotype. This is cultural whitewashing.

This is casual racism in media.

No matter what form or what media, whitewashing is racism.
