This is SO REAL like first of all, the matriarchy they initially had was still this hyper-feminine mess where all the barbies still had to look perfect and attractive and have their hair and makeup done etc wereas the Kens simply, did not. Not to mention Alan even. And then still the only pressing harm of the Barbie-run society was that Barbie didn't give Ken much of her time in the way that he wanted her to, and as a result he subjugated every woman in the world?? He made all the Barbies ramp up the performance of the male gaze, spoke down to them, stole their literal houses and hard work, and enslaved them, and then the message was still like "uwu Barbie should've given more time to Ken so he didn't react this way" like no FUCK OFF are you kidding? The Barbies should've just systematically eliminated the Kens because at best they're useless and at worst they're clamoring to cause actual material harm. I WISH the movie lived up to "deeply bizarre and anti-man". It's actually really telling where we are in society that so many see this as an actually radical perspective filled with man-hate when it was literally so coddling to men. Don't get me wrong either, I did enjoy it for what it was like I know it wasn't going to go into an actual deep leftist analysis or anything but this reaction to it as though it had is making me nuts

"It's not bragging, its a warning bitch. You're going to cry and beg me to stop when i get the head in. After that you'll be to incoherent to even understand. Just a jibbering mound of fuckmeat. Then? I give it about two hours before you begging me to do it again."

The influence of Twitter on online culture made me angry, the influence of TikTok on online culture kinda scares me. The amount of misinformation, censorship, media illiteracy, secular puritanism, revisionism, moral dogmatism… it just horrifies me.
Twitter made online culture into a sphere of perpetually pointless discourse, filled to the brim with pedantry, cynicism, performative outrage, gleeful abuse, bad faith arguments etc. It’s a world where everyone is an intellectual, an activist and a critic, no matter how incurious, inaccurate and demonstrably absurd their arguments.
TikTok is creating a world where everyone feels themselves to be historians, educators, politicians, community leaders, moral guides, experts etc. Like that woman who says the Roman Empire didn’t exist said: “some people just know more than you.” (Or something similar)
‘Just know’ is critical here: lots of TikTok influencers just confidently presume to know things without doing any real research, fact-checking and due diligence. They just act as if they are experts and will say whatever without citing anything. More than anything, they act as if their words and intuitions hold universal moral weight.
This is inevitably leading us to a path where the worst impulses of people who love attention and love to feel right no matter the cost are steering discourse standards for young people.
The result is this kind of secular dogmatism, puritanism and moral absolutism. What is problematic is immoral, what is uncomfortable is abusive, all authoritative information is untrue… People propagating all kinds of misinformation and historical revisionism, people spreading the attitude that all “problematic” media should be wiped from existence, that any expression that doesn’t meet their criteria doesn’t have a right to exist publicly, that morality is not concerned with actual interpersonal behaviour but with personal taste, preference and media consumption instead… At the centre of it is the bane of much online media “analysis”, the attitude that ‘I am the universal I. My taste corresponds with the bounds of what should exist and what shouldn’t. If I can’t relate to it, it’s irrelevant, if I dislike it, it must be morally reprehensible and should be erased.’
This will lead to more alienation, fragmentation and polarisation, but that’s not all. A lot of these misguided attitudes come clad in the language of progressive values and radical politics, but deliberately or not, they are smoothing the path for reactionary gain. People forget that reactionary ideas and attitudes don’t always have to come with explicitly right-wing conservative, neoliberal signifiers, they can just as easily be clad in the language of socialism or revolutionary values as well (just look at the Sovjet-Union or modern day China).
I do sincerely hope that the online left does something to counter this because this trend will make it incredibly easy for the right-wing to enflame the culture war and turn offline people against social progressivism and/or for red-brown goons and reactionary “socialists” to infiltrate the online left and increasingly make it more conservative and more culturally restrictive.
This finger-wagging, prudish and proudly ignorant version of progressivism will not protect anyone from anything. It will just open up online communities to more harassment, thought-policing, gatekeeping, public shaming and open the door for many cynical and unscrupulous people to gain prominence and violently enforce cultural conformity.

don’t get how reading the bible can make people conservative. it should have the OPPOSITE effect. like okay, there are the obvious passages, but so much of it is like—
forgive your brother literally as many times as he commits a sin -> great, because we need a serious overhaul of the prison system! it’s horrifying and doesn’t rehabilitate people! also, no to the death penalty!
to hold people prisoner in debt is evil -> cool, let’s forgive student debt!
treat the sick and unhoused with hospitality -> great, because it’s literally cheaper to house the homeless!!
love thy neighbor -> do i even have to explain this one

yes i hate troons but the average m*le invading female spaces isn't trans, they are literally just regular looking m*n. i think many of you follow too many conservatives when it comes to transgender related discussions and start to think half of the m*le population is trooning out to invade our spaces but these people probably make up less than 1% of the population. right wing, left wing, trans, not trans, it doesn't matter. no m*le wants us to have some time away from them because they like it when we feel uncomfortable and want to police our conversations and behavior. targeting a small group of people instead of half of the population won't make a difference

Does anyone know of any posts, essays, articles, etc. on topics related to radical hope, combatting climate nihilism, imagining brighter futures, and how small groups focused on specific things tend to have the greatest impact?

How do you confront a man like him? How do you tell him that you're nothing compared to him? How do you tell him that he deserves the world and all that it has to offer? How do you explain to this stranger that he owns you? Even though he doesn't know you. How do you tell him that you'd rather raise his kids than your own? How do you approach him to express your inferiority against his God-like existence? How do you tell him that you want his sweat on your sheets? And his seed inside your wife? How?
You don't. You don't get to do that. He's way higher on the heirarchy pyramid you don't even deserve to be in his presence. But here's what you can do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Take timid steps towards him. Eyes down at his feet. Start by saying "thank you" instead of "hello". Pull out your phone. Show him your wife. Air drop her number. Thank him again. Leave.

I've come to realize that "terf" and "woke" are the liberal and conservative versions of the same word. They both mean whatever the person using them needs them to mean in the moment, and they both serve the function of labeling and dismissing anything or anyone that is disruptive to the echo chamber. Both sides claim that these words have specific definitions and refer to specific ideologies, but when you ask them to define them, the definitions they provide are vague, incoherent, and oftentimes directly contradictory, because these words don't actually mean anything. If they did actually mean anything, then they would lose their utility as "that word we throw around to immediately dismiss anything that we find even remotely disagreeable or uncomfy and shut down all critical thinking or productive discourse." They are thought terminating clichés. They are a means of policing discussion through shaming and reinforcing in-group out-group, black-and-white, with-us-or-against-us thinking.
A terf is a conservative tradwife who thinks women should all be hyperfeminine birthing machines. But also a terf is a hairy manhating lesbian who hallucinates misogyny where none exists because she's so obsessed with the concept of patriarchy. A woke lib is a pacifistic soyboy who is too cowardly and effeminate to stand up for freedom and democracy and who wants you to give all your guns and money to an overpowered government. But also a woke lib is a violent anarchist thug who wants to go up and down the streets shooting cops and rich people and whose greatest desire is to destroy the government. I could give examples all day. These words mean nothing, because they're supposed to mean nothing. They make the word for the outgroup synonymous with every possible negative interpretation of that outgroup all at once, regardless of how removed those interpretations are from reality, or how much they contradict each other, or how many distinct and separate ideologies they encompass. They're used in ways that don't make sense because they don't need to make sense to serve their purpose.

just realized my situation in college is so funny rn. heres why in a greentext format
>be gumy's parents >you are Good Christian Parents who want your daughter to Walk In The Ways Of The Lord >when she wanted to go to a secular college you were Very Worried that your Impressionable Daughter would get Radicalized By The Godless Atheist College People (this one is actually somewhat justified- i AM very impressionable and got radicalized in junior high in a way that was very very hard on my mental health and my relationships with my family) > be relieved when she chooses to go to a Good Christian College instead (it was my own free choice and i had my reasons). > surely, with her environmental science classes being taught from a God-Fearing Perspective, and with no Godless Atheist College People there, she won't get radicalized! > she gets radicalized anyways

I think a lot of y'all would be better at politics in general if you got away from the concepts of conservative and liberal.
They are not opposites of one another, there are usually actually a lot of overlaps between the two, and using these terms in arguments is usually just used to dismiss the other person's point without any intellectual integrity.
Also, no general political groups like 'liberal' or 'conservative' are monoliths of thought. There are degrees of how liberal or conservative someone that changes depending on the topic at hand and this stance, depending on the topic, is likely subject to change with new information presented. This mindset is the precursor to black and white thinking and tribalism within politics, do yourself a favor and stop using them.
