I was tagged by @adelaidedrubman and @strafethesesinners to assassinate some boys in this quiz! Thank you, babes. It was nothing if not crushing. For them; I’m thriving!
Tagging: @florbelles @unholymilf (so thrilled to type this, you have no idea) @heroofpenamstan @multiverse-of-themind @confidentandgood @dihardys @jackiesarch @roofgeese @risingsh0t @shallow-gravy @indorilnerevarine @teamhawkeye @shellibisshe and anyone else who wants to torment their faves.
NIKOLAOS DIAMANTIS // behind the mask
you aren’t slick about whatever you think you’re hiding. glass shatters in your midst, blood spills, children scream. like some of your friends, your personality of choice is entirely artificial. the difference between you and them is that you can get away with it. you’re unknown, perhaps even to yourself, and your goals are complex. anyone stupid enough to fall for you is setting themselves up to be frustrated and confused, owing to your being ultimately unknowable. i hope you can find an identity that makes you comfortable.
RAFAEL ESTRADA // acerbic wit
you’re a mentor — an old scarred wolf, an injured soldier, a disgraced paladin. your teachings read as shamelessly pretentious, speaking in rhymes and biting down hard into anyone stupid enough to make the wrong move. this isn’t your first life, nor your second, nor your sixth — you’ll make the most of your time shackled to this world, no matter how many loops it takes to get it right. with every defeat, you reincarnate; a little smarter, a little quicker, crueler and nastier. will you choose to be brutal, equalizing, that final strike in the face of your enemies? will you go soft, become tender and domesticated? the choice is yours. it’s not like i can stop you.
WESLEY BROOKS // silent admission
in tarot, the fool is numbered 0 — the number of unlimited potential. as the protagonist, he is ever present, and therefore needs no introduction. the world revolves around you in ways that i can’t begin to describe, though you’d shrug it off if i were to begin to explain. i need you to know that time is running out. if you want to get this done, you need to start now. sloth is your greatest enemy in this world, and you can only run so far from the opposition when you start with such a disadvantage. keep your head high, yeah? the kid you were is still in there somewhere. you need to show him that it was worth it.

@luposcainus asked: ‘ it has been a long time since we seen each other. ‘
"It is." Rafael motioned Caspian to come inside, heading towards the kitchen, "I really wasn't expecting you're gonna visit here in Manila. So, uh, do you need anything to drink? Water? Juice? How about snacks? I've got some biscuits here if you'd like."

@herbsandsorcery asked:  “at least i did one thing right.”
Tumblr media
{☆} “Hey--you’re doing just FINE, Rafael,” Clea chastised lightly, arching her brows up towards the roof, hovering high in the air. They were in the LIBRARY, and she was content to help Wong sort through the books--at least for the day. The better part of her day usually came at NIGHT, hidden below the stars, wrapped in her lover’s arms. Despite being the Sorcerer Supreme of the Dark Dimension, she wasn’t above helping out at Kamar Taj whenever she had free time.
White hair floats through the air as she turns her head, fixing the young man with a stern, but affectionate expression.
“Nobody starts out as an EXPERT--and if Stephen tells you he did, he’s a damn liar,” she mused. Settling down on the floor, she rests a hand on his shoulder. “In fact, when I started my training, he left me in the Himalayas for three days before he remembered I was his student.”
There’s only a slight twinge of bitterness at that memory. The BEARS were friendly enough.
She shakes her head and smiles. “You’re doing fine. You’re making STRIDES,” she chirps.

Blindspotting (Carlos López Estrada, 2018) Cast: Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal, Janina Gavankar, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Ethan Embry, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kevin Carroll, Nyambi Nyambi, Jon Chaffin, Wayne Knight, Margo Hall. Screenplay: Rafael Casal, Daveed Diggs. Cinematography: Robbie Baumgartner. Production design: Tom Hammock. Film editing: Gabriel Fleming. Music: Michael Yezerski. Blindspotting sets up its essential high-wire tension early in the film when we see Collin (Daveed Diggs) being given the terms of his probation after being released from prison: the usual no drugs, no firearms, no bad company, and so on. Whereupon we almost immediately see him sitting in the back seat of a two-door car that is bristling with the owner's guns. Collin panics: He has three days left before his probation ends. Things get worse when Collin's best friend, Miles (Rafael Casal), reveals that he's carrying too. Collin panics, and when he's released from the car heads for the truck he's driving -- he has taken a job with a moving company managed by his ex-girlfriend, Val (Janina Gavankar) -- eager to get to his halfway house before his 11 p.m. curfew. And then he's stopped by a red traffic light that shows no sign of changing, even though there's absolutely no other traffic moving. As he fumes in frustration, a man suddenly runs up to the truck, followed quickly by a cop on foot. As Collin looks on in horror, the cop fires four bullets, killing the other man -- we see him fall in Collin's rear-view mirror. Like Collin, the man is Black. And through his side window Collin looks face to face at the cop, who is, needless to say, white. But then the light changes and Collin drives home. Blindspotting is like that throughout, though the rest of Collin's hair's-breadth moments don't involve a fatality. It's about the precariousness of being Black when even your closest white friends, like Miles, don't understand the ease with which things can go suddenly wrong. We're constantly aware of the way the world -- or at least Oakland, the beautifully characterized milieu in which Collin's story takes place -- can suddenly turn against Collin, who just wants to stay out of jail. But the remarkable thing about this real and painful fact is that it's the premise on which a very funny and very insightful movie is based. There are critics who fault Blindspotting for an inconsistency of tone, for having one foot in farce and the other in tragedy, but I think that's the brilliance of the film. It doesn't need to hammer its message home. It can make a point about, say, gentrification by showing Collin and Miles at work cleaning out the "junk" in a house that's about to be gutted and turned into an upscale townhouse, just by taking a look at what's been left behind by its former residents: a wedding photograph, an old photo album, in short, a cache of memories about to be obliterated. And it culminates in a lovely sequence in which Collin comes face to face again with the cop, and conquers the man not with a gun but with a rap diatribe. There are those who think this is only a disguised version of the conventional happy ending, but I prefer to see it as a hopeful resolution of the cultural dissonance in which we now live.

I was tagged by @dihardys and @adelaidedrubman to take this hilarious little quiz for a few unfortunate boys. Thank you, my dears!
Tagging: @florbelles @blackreaches @heroofpenamstan @multiverse-of-themind @confidentandgood @roofgeese @indorilnerevarine @shellibisshe @shallow-gravy @strafethesesinners and anyone else who wants to get into it!
NIKOLAOS DIAMANTIS // the secret recipe
The perfect hero to whatever story they've been put in. This is a character who is unpredictable, hard for readers to pin down, and yet constant in who they are. They can be a perfect saint one moment, then making hard choices that can make them seem like the devil's spawn the next. Stuff probably weighs hard on their shoulders. In other words, they are human, and that's all you can ask for.
WESLEY BROOKS // the grapefruit
Probably they are crucial and healthy for the plot, but lets face it; you'll never find an angstier SOB anywhere else. World weary, spiteful, and perhaps even sadistic, their main goal is to make sure that everyone will taste the sourness that pervades every aspect of their own pathetic lives.
RAFAEL ESTRADA // garlic
Everyone's favorite who lightens up almost every situation they touch. While they might not be the most "interesting" character, the story wouldn't be the same without them. They are what it means to be baby and don't deserve a single bad thing that comes their way. Of course, that makes them the perfect target for angst. Go figure.

@herbsandsorcery asked: "That's not your usual order."
Tumblr media
{✗} "Oh...well I'm..." Her cheeks burn a little at being CAUGHT. White chocolate was the goddamn DEVIL and apart of her was convinced Miguel only preferred it because she hated it. Her nose gives a little wriggle and brown eyes flicker away to glance at the espresso machine before they return to Raf's face. She swallows and taps her DEBIT card against the machine and gives a little shrug.
"I'm getting some coffee for a FRIEND," she mused. "Gwen. You know Gwen." A LIE, but she and Miguel weren't advertising their change in status and the last thing she wanted to do was draw ATTENTION to their relationship. At least for those first few PRECIOUS days--she wanted him all to herself.
Her hand wraps around her chai latte and she takes a tentative sip, cheeks still pink, although she HOPES the cold will be excuse enough. "She's a sweet drink freak," she hums, a little smile playing on her lips. A smile which only widens a little when she remembers the 6'9" man asleep in her bed.
She clears her throat and licks her lips, gesturing to her latte with an all too FRIENDLY smile. "Delicious as always Raf!"

[ FIRST  DATE ] : for  sender muse  to  meet  receiver  muse  for  a  first  date.   (For Raf!)
"Hey, Wanda." Rafael finally greeted Wanda before handing her a bouquet of roses, pulling up a chair for her to sit on. The reason he picked this restaurant is because of the good food and service, as well as the prices here are reasonable. He may not be the type of guy who likes to dine in at luxury restaurants and preferred budget-friendly types, but he was hoping Wanda wouldn't mind.
As soon as he took a seat across her, Rafael opened up the menu to give it a look, "Would you like anything to drink?"
