Notes: Ralph needs more love so here is some love for Ralph, my personal fave on team Flash (sorry Cisco)

               Ralph Dibny had a long list of rules and tips for dating.  He thought about publishing his list several times, possibly making millions on what would obviously be the best self-help book to ever exist but never did, keeping it just for close friends and family instead.  Most of the time the book worked and he was on the receiving end of many thanks and praises.  Then came the question.  ‘If you wrote this why don’t you have a partner?’  Ralph hated this question because he would have to admit that the book didn’t work for him.  He was broken somehow in that department and never could find someone who could tolerate him or his antics.  It was disheartening but he had learned to live with it.  Until Y/N showed up.  

               Y/N was a meta, one interested in helping team Flash take out threats to Central City and they arrived in a flurry one day in the lab, uninvited and taking everyone by surprise.  He had entered after they had arrived and had assessed them quickly and instantly fell head over heels.  

               “Who’s newbie?” he asked.  “Why haven’t I been introduced yet?  Hello, I’m Ralph and you are…?”  Cisco rolled his eyes.

               “They just got here, and we don’t know who they are,” he said, still holding up the meta weapon.  Barry was watching, waiting to spring into action should he need too. Y/N just stood and smiled sweetly at Ralph before looking at the rest of them.

               “I’m Y/N and I found you guys, I can hack things, anything really as long as it has a technological element to it.  So I’ve been looking for the Flash and his friends for awhile now.  Then Iris helpfully brought the laptop she uses at the Citizen here and well, here I am,” they said.  The rest of the team looked suspicious but Ralph instantly knew that Y/N was not only gorgeous but completely trustworthy.  And as everyone knew he was an amazing judge of character.

               “I think we found a new team member,” he said, looking to everyone else.  He saw raised eyebrows all around.  “What? They clearly have powers and if they were here to harm us I’m sure they would have done it through our tech, not come by to have tea.  Would you like some tea?”

               “O that would be great,” Y/N said, still smiling at him.  Ralph nodded and offered his arm.  “Its nice to meet you all, can’t wait to work together,” and then they were off to the kitchen.

               Y/N became a trusted member of the team after a few weeks and soon Ralph started to try and woo them.  However, he was just bad at it.  Anytime he tried to surprise them with something sweet it fell apart. Flowers?  Pollen allergy.  Chocolates? Expired and gave them food poisoning. Teddy Bear?  Apparently the toy store had a rodent issue and the rats liked to hide in the stuffed animals.  Ralph was at his wits end on how to impress Y/N.

               What he didn’t notice while he was worrying about how to woo them was that they watched him and already had fallen hard.  In the field he was amazing, doing anything and everything he could to help his team, his family, to help anyone who needed it. And the few times they had hung out after a mission Y/N couldn’t help but notice how funny he was and how unintentionally sweet he could be.  

               “So why do you always want to hang out here?” Ralph asked one night when Y/N had shown up at his office just to visit after they had taken out a meta.  Y/N blushed a little bit.

               “I was hoping that I would get up the guts to kiss you tonight,” they said, making Ralph stare at them.

               “K…kiss me?” he said, not sure he heard right. They nodded, face a beautiful shade of crimson that he was melting over.  He made them blush like that, him Ralph Dibny, failed detective with a dumb power, this guy.  

               “I don’t know if you noticed but I’ve been…watching you over the last few weeks…o that makes me sound like a stalker, I mean watching you when you work…damn that’s not much better…I mean, I like to watch you…o God I sound stu…” Ralph couldn’t handle how adorable they were being so he rose from his desk, walked over, taking they’re face in his hands and kissed them.  It was sweet and light and held just a little bit of lust in it, enough to make them both breathless when they parted.

               “I watch you too…let’s stalk each other ok?” he said.  He had said that before and everyone else he had said it to had called the cops afterwards. But Y/N just smiled, pulling him back in and kissing him again.

The Flash recap: A member of Team Flash breaks bad amid family drama

Beautifully directed by Jeff Cassidy, “Snow Pack,” is all about family drama. On one side, we have Barry and Iris, whose marriage is threatened by Barry’s latest screw-up. Then, we also have the Tannhauser-Snow family (a.k.a. the titular snow pack) drama, which involves the return of the villainous Icicle, Caitlin, and her mother Carla working through some of their issues. Although these stories are mostly isolated from each other throughout the entire hour, they’re connected by the episode’s interest in exploring what it means to be part of a family, specifically what responsibilities do members have and what do they owe each other, which I found very interesting. Honestly, this may be one of my favorite episodes of the season.

The last episode of The Flash ended with Barry dropping Nora off in the future; he could no longer trust her because of her relationship with Thawne. While heartbreaking to watch, this development was also frustrating because it felt like Barry was regressing. After four and a half seasons, you’d think Barry would have learned not to pull an Oliver Queen and make unilateral decisions about his daughter without consulting her mother and his wife, Iris. But, apparently, he hadn’t. Thankfully, The Flash recognizes just how annoying Barry’s decision was and wastes no time laying into him.

“Snow Pack” begins exactly where it’s supposed to: With Barry and Iris arguing about sending Nora on a one-way trip to the future. Iris essentially becomes a proxy for the audience and brings up the fact that Barry continues to make the same mistakes over and over, specifically making decisions based on his emotions. Barry, on the other hand, can’t see past how betrayed he feels and keeps insisting he’s right. He does the immature thing and points out that maybe Iris would understand how he felt if Thawne had killed her mother in front of him. Honestly, it’s almost too brutal to watch because both Grant Gustin and Candice Patton are giving it their all. Furthermore, Cassidy’s use of close-ups on their faces puts us right into both characters’ minds, which heightens the emotion and make the argument more intimate. (In fact, it felt like there were more reaction and close-up shots than the average Flash episode. There was a sense that Cassidy was inviting the audience to peer even deeper into the characters’ brains to figure out how they were feeling and question everything.)

In the wake of their big fight, Iris takes some space from Barry. She even starts to write a letter, but Cecile and Ralph stop her from making a mistake out of anger. Instead of talking to Barry again, though, she decides to see her daughter. With Ralph’s help, she absconds with the time sphere and jets off to 2049. While the episode doesn’t do too much with this surprising new Ralph-Iris pairing, it does enough to make me want to see them work together more in the future.

In 2049, Thawne is busy teaching Nora how to use the Negative Force, which would allow her to return to 2019 undetected by her father. The Negative Force was created by Thawne and is the opposite of the Speed Force. Whereas Barry’s speed comes from his hope, speed from the Negative Force is fueled by anger. Unfortunately, Nora doesn’t have enough pent up rage to make it work her first time. But that’s about to change.

When Iris arrives in the future, she finds Nora outside of Thawne’s cell. A suspicious smile creeps across Thawne’s face when Iris shows up, and Cassidy’s camera lingers on it several times throughout the scene, inviting us to question what’s really going on in that twisted mind of his. Throughout the entire conversation, Thawne sides with Iris and suggests Nora listen to her mother. Unfortunately, the fact that Iris came back for her without Barry angers Nora further to the point that she’s actually able to access the Negative Force and speed off back to 2019, leaving Iris in a room alone with Thawne.

Thawne offers Iris some advice about helping Nora: “She needs you both united,” he says. “I like your anger but don’t let it drive Barry away. The only way for you to help Nora is by doing it as a family, otherwise you’re simply leaving Barry the exact same way he left Nora.”

No matter how many ups and downs The Flash has had over its run, it has never faltered when it comes to its characterization of Thawne. Despite what Barry may think, the Reverse Flash isn’t just completely evil. That was clear in season 1 when he showed some remorse about screwing the team over and seemed to actually like mentoring Barry. And here, it’s clear that Thawne genuinely cares about Nora, meaning he’s not the cold murderer Barry believes him to be. In fact, Iris even tells Barry as much later on.

Speaking of which, Barry learns a similar lesson about how family never leaves back in 2019. Icicle returns and kidnaps both Caitlin and Carla — who can’t stop bickering with each other for five minutes — because he wants to create his own little killer ice-meta family by giving Carla her own icy personality. Thankfully, Caitlin/Killer Frost manages to break free right as the Flash shows up to save the day. Killer Frost leaves Barry behind to save Carla, who was placed in a dangerous machine and goes after Icicle in a shoddily rendered fight sequence involving multiple ice slides that ends with Icicle trying to kill his daughter once she reverts back to Caitlin. Seeing his daughter in peril gives the real Thomas Snow the strength to regain control of his body for good and he vanquishes Icicle before he murders Caitlin.

In the wake of the battle, Thomas apologizes to Carla and Caitlin because “family shouldn’t leave family,” which strikes a chord with our favorite speedster. But there’s another twist! Cicada II interrupts the Snow Pack reunion and kills Thomas, who dove in front of her knife to save his daughter, before making off with a piece of tech Icicle had stolen from Carla earlier in the episode. What does she plan on doing with it? I have no idea, but it definitely involves her younger self, whom she kidnapped from the hospital earlier in the episode.

However, it’s not all bad news. After this ordeal, Caitlin and Carla decide to get drinks, and Barry and Iris put their argument to bed back at the loft. Both of them apologize for acting out of anger and agree to work together. Elsewhere in Central City, though, Nora comes speeding out of the Negative Force with glowing red eyes à la Reverse Flash. Looks like Nora just broke bad, which can’t be a good thing at all.

Christmas Jelousy (Caitlin Snow X Reader)

You knock on Joe’s door a smile on your face. The door opens to reveal your girlfriend, Dr. Caitlin Snow. “Merry Christmas (Y/N)!” Caitlin exclaims throwing her arms around your neck. 

“Merry Christmas Cait,” You say wrapping your arms around her waist. 

She gives you a quick kiss before leading you into the West house. You close the door behind you and walk into the living room. “(Y/N)!” Ralph cheers as he walks towards you. “Finally someone with a sense of humour.” 

“Hey! I have a sense of humour!” Cisco yells from the kitchen. “No Ramon you really don’t,” Harry says while grabbing a cup of eggnog. 

“Oh like you’re funnier than me,” Cisco retorts. “Can we all just agree that the two of you are lacking in the humour section?” You ask as Caitlin gives you a cup of eggnog. 

“I feel betrayed (Y/L/N),” Harry says shaking his head. “Same,” Cisco agrees. “I need more eggnog before I can deal with this,” Joe mumbles from behind his cup. You chuckle and Caitlin grabs your hand. You intertwine your fingers and Ralph says,”Anyway. You know what I want for Christmas?” 

“A girlfriend,” Caitlin mumbles and you elbow her as you hold back as laugh. “I want a better suit. Cisco didn’t even try with my suit,” Ralph complains. “At least it’s better than not having a suit,” You say. 

“Well yeah but I still think he could do way better. I mean the color is so boring. I need some spice.” You roll your eyes at him and continue your conversation. After a while you feel Caitlin wrap her arms around your waist and you relax against her. “I’m just saying if you guys ever wanted to you know who to talk to,” Ralph says wiggling his eyebrows. 

“I think we’ll pass,” You say punching his arm. He holds his hands up in surrender and says,”I was just kidding. No need to get physical.” “I thought that’s what you wanted,” You shoot back raising your eyebrow. “Touche (Y/N) touche.” 

Caitlin rests her head on your shoulder and you whisper,”You okay Cait?” “Yeah. I’m fine,” she says quickly. “You’ve been unusually quiet.” “Just tired,” she replies. You nod even though you don’t totally believe her. 

Cisco walks over to you and says,”Geez could you guys be any cuter? You’re giving me a cavity.” 

“You’re just jealous ‘cause Gypsy is busy,” You say. 

“Where is she anyway?” Ralph asks. “Ah something about a bad guy she had to capture you know the usual.” 

“What a shame,” Ralph mumbles. Cisco smacks his arm and says,”Watch yourself Ralph.” “Right sorry.” You chuckle and notice Caitlin still hasn’t said anything. You lock eyes with Cisco and he nods. 

“Hey Ralph you look like you need some more ‘nog,” Cisco says. “Actually I still have like half my cup full,” Ralph says. “No you need more,” Cisco says giving him a death glare while motioning to Caitlin. “Oh right we’ll be in the kitchen if you need us,” Ralph says walking away, Cisco right behind him. 

You turn around in Catlin’s arms and look at her. “Alright what’s going on with you?” You ask. “And don’t tell me it’s nothing ‘cause I know something’s wrong.” 

“How can you possibly know that?” Caitlin asks. “I’m your girlfriend it’s my job to know when something’s wrong,” You reply. Caitlin smiles and you say,”See that wasn’t that hard.” “I’m fine. Go joke with Ralph some more,” Caitlin mumbles. 

“Oh I see the problem,” You say wrapping your arms around her neck. “Someone’s jealous.” 

Caitlin scoffs and says,”I’m not jealous. I just don’t understand why you get along with him so well.” 

“Oh come on he’s not that bad once you get to know him.” “Right.” “Either way it doesn’t matter ‘cause I only have eyes for you, Cait.” You kiss her and she wraps her arms around your waist.

 You pull back and say,”How did we not notice we were standing under mistletoe the entire time?” You ask. 

“Maybe ‘cause you were in a deep discussion about whether Barry really needs a drink at Jitters or not,” Caitlin says. 

“Hey it was a valid question!” “Sure,” Caitlin says shaking her head. “I love you,” You say a smile on your face. “I love you too,” Caitlin says giving you quick kiss. “Now let’s find Barry and ask him what he thinks of his drink,” You say grabbing her hand and walking over to Barry and Iris. Caitlin just laughs and follows you her jealousy long forgotten.

Request: Reader is Barry’s brother and clicks with Ralph and they start dating but in secret, when found out the rest of the team is happy for them

Note: YAY RALPH!  I LOVE RALPH! SEND ME ALL THE RALPH REQUESTS!

Barry didn’t bring you around S.T.A.R. Labs much but today you needed to find him and he told you to meet him there so you obliged.  Barry was technically your guardian when he had turned 18 and though you were in your mid twenties now his name was still on the paperwork for your car and in order to sell it he needed to sign his rights to it away.  You carried the paperwork off the elevator, looking it over instead of watching where you were going. 

“Hey watch...” was all you heard before running headlong into another guy and nearly falling to the ground.  Ralph caught you easily, his arm extending to wrap around your waist and lift you to stand again.  He didn’t remove it right away, feeling his cheeks blush a bit as he felt something click in his chest.  You stared at him as he straightened you out, feeling a similar click.

“Um sorry, I’m Y/N,” you said as if that would explain everything.  “I’m Barry’s brother.”  Ralph thought for a second and nodded  Allen had mentioned that once or twice. 

“Hi, Dibny, Ralph Dibny” he said, smirking some.  And that was all it took for you to fall head over heels for him.  That cheesy line got you and what started out as a tour of the labs turned into drinks, which turned into dinner, another dinner, first kisses, sleepovers, everything that came with dating except for one thing.  Neither of you were going to tell Barry. 

Ralph had never dated a guy before, didn’t even realize that he was interested in men until you came along and you had never explored the fact that you were interested in men before, always nervous about how your family and friends would react.  You had seen others get kicked out of the house or just have relatives and friends weirded out by it and never wanted to cause problems.

Ralph wanted to tell them, and well, more than anything he knew that this was serious and sooner or later they would find out and he would rather have it happen sooner but you didn’t budge.  And for once in his life Ralph respected that and didn’t just out you guys like he wanted.  Everything was going fine until Barry knocked on your apartment door with Iris in tow one morning after Ralph had stayed over.  You answered the door in a robe having quickly put in on as you ran out of the bedroom. 

“B...Barry...” you said, hearing Ralph before you saw him pad into view of the door shirtless and putting on his pants.  Needless to say Barry and Iris saw him hopping out of the hallway and fall over.

“Hey Allen...Mrs Allen...” Ralph said as you turned six shades of red.  Barry was staring wide eyed between the two of you and ever the mediator Iris recovered and smiled.

“Hi Ralph” she said.  “Well this is a nice surprise, I needed to talk to Y/N about a lead on a story and Barry needed to talk to you about other stuff.”  You moved aside for the two to enter and then sat on the couch.  Ralph sat next to you and both of you looked guilty. 

“When did this start?” Barry asked after a moment.

“A few months ago,” you said softly.  He nodded.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, looking hurt. 

“He was scared of how you’d react, all of you,” Ralph said when he realized you couldn’t speak.  You smiled softly at him and he took your hand.

“Y/N, is it because its a guy or because its Ralph?  Because you can date anyone you want, I don’t care but...does it have to be Ralph Dibny?” Barry asked.  For a second you thought he was serious until he smiled wide at you.  “I’m happy for you Y/N.” 

“Thanks Barry,” you said softly.  “Um, let me tell Joe and everyone else ok?”  Barry nodded and said that they should have a family dinner at Joe’s that night if you were ok with that.  You agreed and he and Iris left to make plans, forgetting entirely what they came to talk about.

Dinner was lively and fun and finally you took a breath and stood up.

“Ralph?  That Ralph?” Joe asked.  Ralph looked over like he was insulted.  “Well Y/N, I’m glad you’re happy and Ralph you break his heart I will shoot you.”
