✨️Duotale FAQ✨️
Tumblr media
Just in case peeps ask questions a lot lol. Will add more as we go.
•What exactly is this AU about?
Its just a funny little AU where not all monsters were locked underground and some went into hiding instead. Some species of monster in this AU can take on human form with their magic, hence why this is possible. Of course, this doesnt stop kiddos, human or monster, from climbing that darn mountain though.
•When is the next page?
Duotale updates every Friday. Time varies but I try to keep it between 10am and 12pm EST. If either day falls on a holiday, the page will be posted the following day.
•Why is this AU called Duotale?
Because the two main characters are twins, hence the Duo in Duotale. Ok they aren't twins, but they are siblings, born a few months apart. Yes, Strawberry is the Older one.
•Is the player a thing in this AU?
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the AUs in the Citadel. No one is controlling the Duotale cast though. They've had their own mind and actions from the start. Underplayer is in the Citadel though, if you count them as a player.
●Can my AU be featured in your comic?
Why yes. Just refer to the link in the Masterpost labeled "how to get your AU into the comic". Follow the rules, answer the questions, and you'll be in where we can fit you! Do note that we will try to spread everyone out through different MVC visits, so please, don't be upset if your appearance isn't automatic! You will be seen eventually before the story's end! Scene art and asks are a different story though.
•Will Kris make an appearance?
Yes :3. I'll leave it at that. Ralsei will make an appearance in asks or art, Susie may or may not be in the comic itself. Here's the boi. During the comic he's a lil toddler. (Gender explaination is below btw for those that care.)
Tumblr media
•Is Kris gonna be Frisk or Luci's counterpart?
No. Neither. They will be their own person.
●Is Clover gonna make an appearance?
Like Kris, the cowboy ghost will be there, but unlike Kris, you won't see him in comic til the end. He will (and has already) pop up on our blog, like Dalv or Star sherrif boi, but in comic, sorry, hes in Asgore's castle and that's so far away right now lmao. But here's how he looks. Yes, he knows the fox stole his hat. He does not know where his gun is, though.
Tumblr media
●Will xxx color soul child also be in this AU?
Depends. We already have the Yellow soul decided (obvi). If There's another colored child you wanna see pop up as a canon-to-duotale ghost at the end of the comic you can ask, but so far only Clover and MAYBE Marine(Patience soul) but the lore is off that comic might contradict yellow or ours so that's undecided. Any other kids so far would be only seen in the MVC. We're trying not to pick kids in full existing sets so thats why Clover and maybe Marine are our only choices so far. We are more likely to make up the rest tbh. No more red souls though beyond cameos. Red souls work a special way in our AU and there's not a lot (if any) that can fit that requirement.
•Can other ghosts see Chara/Luci?
Yes. And she can see said other ghosts. Strawberry can only see those that she summons and Blackberry can see ghosts as well. Frisky can sense spirits near him but obviously cannot see them.
●Why do some characters have rings around them?
That just means they're dead. Ghosts. Spirits that didn't move on to heven or hell. The ring color matches the color of their soul and doesn't change. Luci, Blackberry, Dalv, and Kris have special rings though. They change color based on emotions. This color changing mood ring is only available to one species and it starts becoming visible around puberty. Luci is fullblooded, hence why her ring is always visible and changing like a rainbow, though Blackie and Kris aren't fullblooded, so their rings might be a bit faultly ha. If you're every curious what the colors mean, you can refer to the link labeled "Luci's mood ring" on the master post. Or a more simplified list ca be found on her teen ref.
•What exactly are the main cast's species?
Blackie is is a halfbreed kitsune vampire, Luci is a purebreed vampire with demonic powers, Strawberry is a tanuki who practices witch magic, and Frisky is a human. He just has a magical scarf to give him wings like redbull. As for Kris... you'll figure it out. No spoilers, sorry lol.
•How did you come up with the idea of Duotale?
Originally this story was gonna be a comic of our own runs in Undertale, showing how they clash and would effect each other. Kinda like thise PMD comics and Nuzlocke animations people make. But somewhere between writing the script and making the first cover art, we changed our minds and made a whole AU instead.
•Is fanart allowed?
Yes uwu. You can find character info and all current ref sheets in the Masterpost, last section at the bottom :3 If ya tag me, I can reblog it in my main account so peeps can see it, and an account I have specifically for or art made by others so I wont lose it. Main account is @oatmealkitty . That is where all non ask/comic art goes.
•What ships are in this comic/blog?
Oh boy a hard question to answer. Ignoring any cameos, out of our own and JUST our own characters this is the list. I'm probably missing a LOT though as these are off the top of my mind.
☆Friskyberry (Frisk x Blackie) | ☆Charaberry (Luci x Strawberry) | ☆Charisk (Sugartale) | ☆Chariel (Luci x Cristal; in the past before adoption, though nothing comes of this.) | ☆Pappyton | ☆Soriel (They break up post story on mutual terms) | ☆Torgore (They break up before the story and never get back together.) | ☆Kingdings (Asgore's relationship post comic) | ☆Sansby (After Sans and Tori split) | ☆Alphyne | ☆Kris x Ralsei
•What are the pronouns of each character?
You will find all information on the masterpost, last section. If someone is missing we just didnt finish the refs yet. Apologies. Since I know MK, MTT and Blooky will be asked about due to lack of refs, they are all he/him here but Blooky and MK accept They/Them. Remember that this is an Alternate Universe, as in not sticking to the game's lore to a T. So please dont start a fuss over this. If canon versions of the characters ever speak or are spoken to in the Citadel, they will be referred to by the genders Toby (NOT THE FANDOM) placed on them, so be happy with that smh.
A note to avoid confusion since I KNOW this will cause issues if I don't give a bible explanation: WITHIN the comic, Kris' pronouns will be he/him, hence me calling the younger one he/him. Personally, I can't see a literal 3 year old toddler changing his gender or even caring about that. I know I sure didn't back then lol. I didn't care till damn near the end of highschool tbh. Soo, He starts requesting people use they/them (if possible) in his late teens as thats what I personally experienced. Sorry to anyone who wants out of the womb non binary/trans babies. Oh and when he's spoken to or about in another language, regaurdless of age, it will be male pronouns bc languages. Sorry, can't fix that either. That's just how languages work. So yeah, Tldr: In comic=he/him. In asks=they/them (he/him if non english language).
𖤐~~~~~~𖤐~~~~~~𖤐
✨️Asks✨️
•You can ask LITERALLY anything to ANYONE. Even the mods. All suggestive/sexual questions will be filtered with a label if need be.
•All questions will go to the post comic adult versions of the cast unless specified in the question, or unless we allow asks for the kiddos for some reason.
•You can ask spoiler based questions, but they will either be heavily censored or answered in a joking manner as to not give away everything that happens in the story.
•All asks that seem like spam will be ignored. I know we answered them before jokingly but after a while it becomes too much. Also! We will ignore asks about religion (offensive/forcing), racism, sexism, stuff like that.

You have made some interesting posts about how Kris may dislike Ralsei, while being forced by the SOUL to act like they like him. (And Ralsei looked fairly sinister in that one panel) Could you expound on that?
OHOHOOHOHO you guys know i love talking about my ships so of course i SHALL
Man get ready for yet another loooong post of my thought process on those particular pieces (I might be repeating myself because I've explained this in the past I think? But I am always happy to talk about my hcs)-
So, first of all, this all derives from me being a strong believer in the "ralsei is kris' old headband" theory and all that implies.
Based on that theory, I am assuming that Ralsei is a manifestation of what Kris might have wanted to be like when they were very young (a goat monster that fits with their family and is someone that everyone likes because they're Super Nice).
But Kris moved way past that when we start deltarune, and because of the way they don't seem to especially like ralsei or how we get the general idea that they're quite the troublemaker, I read that as "They became disillusioned with the idea of what they wanted to be when they were younger, and thus, would dislike seeing that in someone else"
Therefore, Kris doesn't like Ralsei that much (ehem BUT I DIDN'T SAY HATE! I genuinely think they're at a basic friendship level for now, but they don't have a bond as strong as Kris and Susie have, u feel?)
So for that reason, for me kralsei as it is right now is quite one sided! It's super obvious Ralsei has feelings for Kris, or at least he has a huge favoritism for them. (I like that about it because I am a sucker for angst and yearning, but allow me to elaborate further!)
So- Here comes The Player. We get many options throughout the game to hug Ralsei and generally be super nice and sweet to him, because of course WE would love the fluffy boy right? (How can you not love him????!!!!)
...But Kris just doesn't like him as much as we do. The strongest proof of this is that the only person they want to take to the festival is Susie. They are confused when we make them say that they'd like to take Ralsei to the fest. So that's just a canon fact, Ralsei likes Kris very very much but it's just not reciprocated.
(It haunts me!)
>Ralsei looked fairly sinister in that one panel
And ohohoho, to continue onto my reasons-
So we all know how Ralsei is kinda weird in that "he knows a bit too much, and he seems like he is hiding something" way right?
Part "he knows exactly why Kris doesn't like him (ehem, discarded headband)", part "hiding he knows about the player control" I think Ralsei is in a difficult position.
He wants to be loved by Kris, but... (Well this part is fuzzy for me because we JUST aren't privy to Ralsei's true intentions as of now)
Is he loyal to the player because he is forced in some way to play a role in the narrative of deltarune?
Or
Even while being forced to play a role in the story, he still wants to help Kris because he loves them?
We don't know! Either way, you can see why "Kris doesn't like me" is a problem for him. It either means that he's failing at his role, or that his true feelings aren't attainable. It's the sort of thing that might drive a Darkner to madness :)
(This ALSO haunts me!)
um, thank you very much for your question! I LOVE speculating about Ralsei a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!

OKAY . ralsei kris and susie :)
Tumblr media
I love them all individually so much, but as a group I would pay money to watch them do just about anything together, they’re so fun and I don’t think I’ll ever be over their collective friendship.
Alright, first ralsei. My BOY. I love that he gets to be the cute, feminine one of the group, and I love him being the “straight man” to a lot of the comedy bits. I won’t say he’s done dirty by the fandom bc he’s certainly acted in ways that warrant suspicion and he still has a LOT of avid supporters, but I do think people often go too far toward “he’s evil” or “he’s purely good and has no ulterior motives”. I think he’s genuinely good, he seems to care about Kris and Susie beyond just their purpose in the dark world (like kicking them out until they do their homework in Ch2). But, he definitely knows something and he’s intentionally hiding it. From who exactly, I’m not totally sure. Definitely he doesn’t want the player to know whatever it is, but idk if that’s the whole extent of it. Also, why does he look *so* different after he takes the hat off? That might be nothing, but 🤔
Kris is just a really fun protagonist. I like their narration (assuming it *is* them), and I love how the little bits of characterization we do get from cutscenes and dialogue options and the like tell us so much about them with so little. Unlike ralsei, they *are* done dirty by the fandom. Even setting aside all the people who use the wrong pronouns, they do not deserve the amount of people who think they’re evil for some reason. Even if they turn out to be the knight (which I don’t think they are), there are plenty of potential motives that don’t involve them being evil and are more in line with the rest of their characterization. (And don’t get me started on the ppl who don’t get that weird route is YOUR FAULT. My brother in Christ, YOU did the emotional manipulation)
Susie! She puts on that tough guy act but once she’s able to genuinely make friends she latches onto them so hard and I love that for her. She’s so excited to spend time with all her new friends and she’s afraid of being rejected but she won’t be because they’re excited to spend time with her too and 🥺 i love her developing friendship with ralsei, I love that she’s learning healing magic, I love that she dreams about being susiezilla, and I love that she and kris can eat moss together. As someone who worries a lot about being likable, seeing susie be herself and be excited about her new friends and have that friendship wholeheartedly reciprocated means a lot to me. Also, her dark world getup is dope as hell she looks so cool and the sprites where she’s baring her teeth are *chef’s kiss* mwah

Spamton G. Spamton x GN reader smut - In the Trash Zone?!?
A/n - This is my first post on here and I’m worried that I’m making a terrible mistake posting a Spamton smut as my first post and if you know me personally, I’m sorry.
I wrote this in 3rd person too so...
Disclaimer - This was a dare from a friend ://
Summary - Y/n and small boy Spamton have some fun in the trash zone before Kris, Susie and Ralsei arrive.
Warnings - Spamton smut, hand job
503 Words
Spamton moans as Y/n palms him through his white pants. “You like that huh puppet boy?” Spamton begins to moan louder as Y/n starts to lightly traces their pointer finger along the outline of their puppet boyfriends erection.
“AH~ Y/N YOU [[Sexy devil]] STOP TEASING ME-“ he barely finished his sentence before Y/n starts pulling out his dick and stroking it slowly. Y/n was going so slow, it was making him crazy.
He squirms a little as Y/n speeds up their pace.
“That feel nice Spam? You want me to go faster?” Y/n continues stroking Spamton’s dick wildly while the puppet below them starts to stutter out an answer.
“P-P-PLE-ASE…” his speech is broken up, but Y/n can still hear the desperation and neediness in his voice.
“Talk to me Spam. You want me to go faster, or do you want me to stop?” Y/n talks softly to the tiny puppet underneath them.
Spamton could barely hear Y/n’s voice by now, he was too far gone. Although he was bit scared he might lose the pleasure he was speedily gaining but he was also slightly aroused by the fact that his lover could be like they were now.
After not receiving the response Y/n wanted, they abruptly stopped stimulating Spamton all together instead of slowing down.
“WHY DID YOU S-STOP..?” he asks, shivering slightly as the warmth of your hand on his cock is ripped from him.
“Oh darling, you didn’t respond to me. I thought you wanted me to stop…”
“WHA- NO. I-“
“Shh, I understand…” Y/n looks at Spamton with a sad expression painted on their face. They “reluctantly” stood up, attempting to leave the poor salesmen on the ground in the trash zone. Though desperate for more, Spamton moves to grab onto Y/n’s leg as they turn around to leave.
“YOU CAN’T LEAVE [[Without purchasing this item for the low, low price of 129 kromer]]”
“I’m not sure I want to pay that much for-”
“PLEASE! ITS [[All you’ve ever wanted and more]].”
“Oh alright... come here.” Spamton crawled towards you and hugs your shin for a few minutes until the voices of three young friends enters your ears.
“Dude, this place gives me the creeps...” a purple dinosaur says to its group.
“I’m sure there’s nothing to fear Susie! There wouldn’t be any enemies hiding in the Trash Zone I’m sure of it! Right Kris?” a prince from the dark asks the human child next to it. The child only nods in agreement.
“Woah what the heck is going on with them?” Susie motions to You and Spamton. But mostly Spamton because he still had his pants off.
Then, realisation hits her like a truck.
“REALLY??? IN THE TRASH ZONE?!? DO YOU KNOW HOW UNSANITARY IT IS TO DO IT HERE?!” she yells, shielding both her friends eyes while you peel Spamton away from your shin and push him in the direction his pants are.
“What are you doing Susie? They were just embracing.”
“YEAH, EMBRACING WITHOUT PANTS ON-”

A theory about Ralsei (MAJOR spoilers below)
So, you know how the Darkners in Deltarune appear as everyday objects in the Lightner world? For example, Lancer is a Jack of Spades playing card, while Rouxls Kaard is the Rules Card playing card.
Also, in Chapter 2, Darkners who visit Dark Worlds that don't match the ones they come from inevitably weaken and turn to stone. This happens to both Lancer and Rouxls when they visit Cyber World. The only Darkner that seems immune to this is Ralsei, who has so far visited two other Dark Worlds with no ill effects.
And speaking of Ralsei, they seem keenly aware of what the Light World is like. They knew Lancer and Rouxls came from the empty classroom. They know about school and homework. They also are keenly aware of Kris' hobbies and such, like playing video games.
Also, isn't it awfully suspicious that Ralsei just seemingly popped up in Cyber World after Kris and Susie? He claimed to feel a "dark presence" and appeared, right? A little too convenient if you ask me, considering as a Darkner, his Light World form should be an inanimate object, too. How did he get from Point A to Point B on his own? As much as I love our fluffy boy, I couldn't shake the feeling throughout Chapter 2 that he's not telling us something.
Here's my theory: Ralsei's Light World form, his true form as an inanimate object, is something Kris constantly carries on their person. Something they always have with them, thus allowing Ralsei to become intimately aware of Kris' world. We have seen this object before, and while it isn't tied to any specific Dark World, this object was involved in the creation of every Dark Fountain that Kris has created, thus allowing Ralsei to exist wherever he wants.
In other words, Ralsei is Kris' knife. The same knife that helps creates the Fountains, the same one that cuts into Toriel's pies, the same one that slashed Toriel's tires.
Does Ralsei know, however? He may be at least vaguely aware. He may very well be hiding information from us (the player controlling Kris) as well as Susie. I believe Ralsei genuinely loves Kris and wants them to be happy, because Kris' knife is probably Kris' favorite object. Why else would Ralsei be so sweet and encouraging towards Kris? Why else would Ralsei encourage Kris' friendship with Susie, whom Kris actually shows signs of caring about without our input?
Obviously, Ralsei doesn't want the world to be destroyed, even if they are part of this Dark Fountain scheme. Maybe he's counting on us, the players, to guide Kris to closing the Fountains, and keep Kris from doing something they'll regret later. Creating that Castle Town and recruiting people to inhabit it is part of Ralsei's plan to keep Kris happy and distracted from carrying out their plans to possibly destroy the world. He wants to give Kris a second home, because Ralsei knows Kris' life in the Light World sucks, what with being known as the creepy kid who's never accomplished anything, and having parents with a shattered relationship, and their best friend, Asriel, is far away. Ralsei knows keeping Kris happy will delay the apocalypse.
However, if I'm right about Deltarune being a prequel to Undertale, it's pretty obvious Ralsei's plans aren't going to work. He will inevitably fail to keep Kris happy, and eventually, Kris will carry out their plan to destroy everything. It's just a matter of when.

One of the popular theories for What the Hell IS Ralsei Anyways is that he’s basically a Darkner not formed out of a physical object, but instead out of Kris’ mind. That he’s literally born out of Kris’ memories and feelings for their older brother. Like, the Dark World basically created him FOR Kris. And while that’s certainly a theory that makes sense, and one of my favorite Ralsei-theories... I also wonder if he’s not JUST created for Kris, if he’s maybe assembled from parts of both Kris AND Susie’s pysche.
Like, Ralsei’s connection with Kris is pretty obvious. Ralsei seems to be very emotionally attached to them specifically, he looks like a member of Kris’ adoptive family and he’s literally named after Kris’ beloved older brother. Some of Ralsei’s sweet and friendly personality might also be based on Kris’ memories of Asriel. Plus there’s the possible connection between Ralsei’s pink horns and slight devil-motif and the red devil-horn headband Kris used to wear as a young child.
... But also, I think some of the Asriel-comparisons with Ralsei makes more sense from the prespective of the Player than from Kris’ memories? Like, Asriel Deltarune seems to be as sweet and sensitive as Asriel Undertale - but he also seems to be this popular-social-butterfly-jock. This seems to be a very far cry from Ralsei, the awkward delicate nerd desperate for friendship. I wonder if Kris actually sees him as a Sort-of-Asriel-but-not-really like the fandom does. I mean they’ve probably noticed the anagram by now, but outside of that... And I think that just as it’s interesting to look at how Ralsei compares and relates to Susie as he does for Kris.
Because Susie and Ralsei really are the ultimate Foils, aren’t they?
She’s a girl with traditionally-masculine interests - and he’s a boy with traditionally-feminine interest.
She’s mainly a bulky fighter-character with damage-dealing Magic (and when she tries to learing Healing Spells it ends up kinda pitiful) - he’s a squishy mage who specializes in Healing and Support Spells.
She starts Chapter 1 thinking that violence is always the ultimate answer to everything and has to learn the value of peaceful solutions - he starts Chapter 1 thinking being nice to your enemies is always the ultimate answer to everything and has to learn that sometimes it just won’t work.
Susie tells Kris that their choices don’t matter, yet she really doesn’t like the idea of some prophecy telling her how to act and she constantly unknowingly overrides the Player’s attempt to control her - Ralsei tells Kris their choices do matter but he seems perfectly content with the idea that his adventure is gonna follow the prophecy exactly and is always pretty content with Kris\the Player ordering him around
In Chapter 1, Susie hides away her eyes until her Character Development truly sets in - Ralsei does the same but he hides every part of his face BUT his eyes basically.
From Susie’s reaction to her room in Ralsei’s castle it seems like she has never had her own living space. I know some fans think she might be homeless - meanwhile, Ralsei spent his entire existence living in a huge empty castle all to himself in a huge empty town.
Despite her mean and tough exterior, Susie has a hidden heart of gold - and despite Ralsei’s sweet and kind exterior... well, there’s clearly Something going on under the surface with him.
Is Susie is indeed a homeless teenage, she probably doesn’t have a lot of money (as referenced in her Silver Card and Dealmaker quotes) - Ralsei’s title as a “Prince” will also be in contrast to that.
Like I said, Ralsei’s ‘nerdy’ persona doesn’t make that much sense to me with just Asriel Deltarune as a basis, but as a foil for Susie’s ‘bully’ reputation? Yeah, they might be something there.
She’s rude to almost everyone she meets, even to her friends (it’s just a more affectionate type of rudeness) - he’s endlessly polite and sweet, even to his enemies.
This one’s actually really interesting because it’s actually based on the one big point of similarity they have. They both start out not really knowing how to make friends. They just deal with it in totally opposite ways:
Susie preemptively pushes people away and puts on a spikey, defensive exterior even when she really doesn’t need too - Ralsei acts like a super nicey-nice doormat to everyone, even when people are being actively being mean to him.
Even their color-schemes are basically an inverse of each other:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(If Ralsei’s pink scarf was a bit more violet and the gold elements on Susie’s outfit were a bit more yellow they would have been a perfect inverse).
I mean, this all could just be... a coincidence for Narrative purposes. Having two main characters be narrative foils who both learn a bit from each other to become more balanced people is just a Good Writing Idea.
But ALSO I’m thinking. If it’s possible that Ralsei was created for Kris when they entered the Dark World, to, like make them feel better about their big brother not being around. Ralsei could have also being created for Susie as total inverse of her - maybe because she’s so self-loathing, or just to try and teach her a lesson about the value of being nice and soft. Just a patchwork to traits from both Kris and Susie’s pysche meant to make one fluffy whole. After all, they both entered the Dark World together and met Ralsei together.
Even if this is not exactly what’s going on, I think it’s important to remember that Ralsei’s relationship to Susie is just as important as his relationship to Kris.

I, along with a few other people, recently brainstormed an idea for an alternate snowgrave route for Ralsei, and I want to know what you think of it!
So there’s two lingering holes that need to be filled for this to really come together.
#1: what is that “something else” that goes along with the garbage noise and the Puppet-Scarf/Ragger (see below) to activate the route?
#2: what are some of the specific events? How do things proceed?
I’ve also had the idea that instead of it being the Puppet-Scarf that kicks things off, it should instead mirror the Snowgrave Route more closely, with The Ragger acting as the Freeze Ring, and the Puppet-Scarf acting as the Thorn Ring. With that in mind, perhaps the Spamton Neo fight could act as a tipping point for Ralsei, with the Garbage noise+Ragger+???? (We really need to find something to fit there) and the Player’s psychological manipulation putting him On The Edge, and the fight with Spamton Neo pushing our fluffy boi over said edge.
As I write this, I have come up with an event that happens in the route, too (as well as a name: the “Puppet-Prince” AU).
The first main event that differs from the main route happens when Susie tries to drag Ralsei along with her, and is how Ralsei ends up with Kris instead of Susie, as well as how he learns his first dangerous spell.
Ralsei, having been made very uneasy and paranoid due to the garbage noise+????, really really really wants to go with Kris, as he feels more safe around them than anyone else.
Because of this, he resists Susie with growing stubbornness (and he does it rather violently, too), ending with him releasing a burst of light
(I always liked to imagine Ralsei could passively control light from how he seemed to completely change color when taking off his hat.)
Susie didn’t take Ralsei’s protesting seriously until he started showing serious signs of distress (as well as him getting a bit violent, of course, which happened simultaneously, at which point she was quick to let him go. Or, at least would’ve been if Ralsei hadn’t already released the burst of light before she had the chance.
(seriously she would have let Ralsei go had it went on a split second longer and he didn’t beat her to it I cannot stress this enough)
Susie is taken aback by this, and at least somewhat hurt by it, both physically and emotionally, feeling like quite a bit like trash because it feels like she hurt her friend, as well as feeling rather isolated again all of a sudden.
“Woah, dude... uh... I’m... sorry. If... if you want to go with Kris that much then... well... you can.”
*she tries hide it a bit*
“...Uh- I’ll meet you later! Have fun with Kris ya dork!”
*it kinda works, but also kinda doesn’t
(Sorry if my writing isn’t all that good, I’m not that good at writing dialogue)
Ralsei immediately senses that Susie is upset and wants to apologize, but she leaves before he can finish his sentence.
[insert psychological manipulation from the player #1 here]
*Ralsei has learned “Light-Burst”
Light-Burst itself is not a seriously damaging spell, but if a significant amount of fights are finished with violence, Ralsei will learn “Fingergun-Shot”, where the light is concentrated onto a single fingertip (in a finger-gun formation, because the fluffy boi must have his guns), making a much more potent and dangerous version of Light-burst.
Being hit with Finger-Gun-Shot is very similar to being shot with an actual gun, and enemies defeated with it will collapse and pass out from their injuries, incapacitated.
They’ll be fine, though.... right?
There are still plenty more events that need to be plotted out, with Ralsei becoming very skeptical and worried for Kris, but the Garbage Noise/Gaster shenanigans making him slip deeper and deeper into paranoia, overwhelming dread, irrationality, and general “Spamton/Jevil”-ness, leaving him open to psychological manipulation. It should mirror the Snowgrave route to an extant, with specific events showing him being taken advantage of, and at the end, Ralsei should kill someone important, giving in to madness completely shortly afterwards.

Rouxls is Hiding Something Big: A Deltarune Theory
Tumblr media
FORENOTE- For some needed context, it may help reading my previous Deltarune theory here for important details that I will cover in this post. (My previous theory provides notable evidence on why Gaster is indeed the “Knight” figure talked about by multiple characters in Deltarune.)
Now, this is going to sound crazy. But after much time of poring over and analyzing Deltarune, I have come to a conclusion. One that I’ve been convinced of for awhile now. Something that’s been lying right under all of our noses without many of us even realizing it. We have all been bamboozled. Hoodwinked. Tricked. Why, you may ask?
Because the comically stupid and inept Duke of Puzzles is actually... not an idiot. No, he’s the complete opposite. He is a downright mastermind.
As collective players, we are all falling into the same trap once again. Putting faith into a character’s preconceived personality !
Tumblr media
When their true personality turns out the complete opposite of what we expected...

It is here, my evidence for this claim begins—and we delve into the true identity of Rouxls Kaard. Buckle up everyone, cause this one’s gonna be a fun ride. 👀
So, to spill the beans up front, and get it over with. I believe Rouxls Kaards identity... is none other than W.D. Gaster in disguise.
Now. I didn’t immediately become invested in this theory—I was skeptical at first like everyone else. But, once I began examining Deltarune and all of its characters a bit closer...things weren’t exactly adding up about the Duke of Puzzles.
Point #1: Anagrams
I initially began to become suspicious of Rouxls Kaard because of his odd name. Sure, it is a play on the words of the term, “Rules card”. But it is spelt in such a peculiar way. If it were just simply a play on words, I think that there would be a much better way of going about spelling it rather than just jumbling a bunch of random letters together. There is a very intriguing reddit post found here that goes more into depth about his name that ties well into my theory. The thing that stood out to me in particular, is that Rouxls’s name is actually also an anagram for “A Dark Soul RX”, (with the left over RX typically being used in terms relating to doctors/medicine.) Not only is Gaster a Doctor, but he’s also always associated with darkness and the research of souls. Toby loves his anagrams—so I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if this was intentional. But it doesn’t end there.
I’ve noticed that Toby Fox has a tendency to tease certain things about his games through merch. And wouldn’t you know it—he has in fact, a particular item on fangamer of a “dark heart.” One which description describes the Angel’s Prophecy. Hm...
But let’s back on track onto my second observation, shall we?
Point #2: The Physical Resemblance to Gaster
Now, there seems to be some interesting foreshadowing related to inverted colors in Deltarune. Before Ralsei takes his hat off, he appears black. But once he takes his hat off, voila, his colors are inverted, and he is revealed to actually be a white goat highly resembling Asriel.
In addition, the entire Dark World is literally just. An inverted version of a normal world.
The Dark World could have hypothetically been the created world/experiment that Gaster had fallen into in the first place. After all, his experiment had to do with “darkness”, and “negative” photons--AKA the Dark Fountains, and the negatively/inverted landscapes of the Dark World.
And how does Rouxls Kaard appear inverted anyways? Well, he looks like THIS.
Tumblr media
He even has the strange dangling lip thing—which another character said to directly resemble Gaster, Seam, has as well:
Tumblr media
In addition, if you look at Rouxls’ text-box profile very closely, his eye colors are actually mismatched which is a rather interesting detail!
Point # 3: His Accent is Extremely put on.
I think anybody that has read any sort of Shakespearean/Old English writing, can instantly realize that Rouxls is as bad as imitating an Old English accent as a high-schooler reading Hamlet for the first time. Rouxls absolutely butchers it. He practically adds eth, and est at the end of any word he chooses, and calls the job done. What is even more interesting though, is when he gets nervous or panicked, he drops the act all together and talks normally.
Tumblr media
Point #4: He is Pretending to be Dumb; His Puzzles are Actually Impressive!
I found it intriguing how there are countless puzzle traps in all the forest areas and in the Card Castle prison that were actually very well done. You have to flip the spades, diamonds, hearts, etc to unlock doors, and open secret chests. They require a decent amount of thinking skills, and are actually competent. But who made them?? Oddly enough if you observe one of them in the forest areas, it appears that Rouxls Kaard vandalized one of the puzzles to make it harder for the player to beat it—which further implies that he actually indeed made those puzzles himself. This shows that Rouxls is much more competent than only being able to make a single box shove puzzle that is comically easy. Where else do we see a place full of plenty of rather well made puzzles + traps seen? All throughout the Core in Undertale—a place which Gaster himself created!
Point #5: Rouxls IS Aware the World is a Game--AKA DON’T FORGET TO READ NPC DIALOGUE FOLKS!
I think it is well aware by now that Rouxls likely wants us as the players to underestimate him--and deem him a fool so we wouldn’t bat an eye at what he’s actually up to. But the most biggest give away to this is something that I have surprisingly seen no one mention at all. And oh boy, it is the most damning evidence that Rouxls is no idiot to be trifled with.
To the left of Seam’s shop, there can be found a little group of former puzzle-makers that used to live at Card Castle, until they were fired and replaced with Rouxls Kaard. They are now all out of a job, and are just barely scraping by since the Spade King didn’t give them any severance pay. However, Rouxls Kaard offered them a way to get money--by selling the tutorials he made.
These tutorials go over TP, stats, information about Susie, Ralsei,  and Kris. Rouxls Kaard has never once met any of the players yet--and he knows everything about them. He knows about stats. He knows the world is a game.
HOW??
In addition, when you talk to Rouxls in his shop, he calls you three the Heroes of Legend. He is well aware of the Angel’s Prophecy. He knows.
Whenever any character in the world of Undertale & Deltarune knows that the world is a game, it is an instant red-flag. It goes to show that they know much more than they let on. Flowey and Sans are big examples of this in Undertale. Pure hearted, dorky idiots that we trust earlier in the game--but wind up seeing the real side of them later on.
...So why should we treat Rouxls any differently?
Point #6: The “Control Crown”
Something that I immediately thought was kind of weird, was the fact that Rouxls Kaard was able to control the K. Round with a “Control Crown” device. If he is so stupid, how was he able to create a full on mechanical device that can brainwash a life-form into being violent/cause it to triple in size?! That is genius material right there!
But things start to take on a much darker side when you begin to look at the subtext of this realization, which I will get to in a moment...
First of all, Seam claimed these exact words.
Tumblr media
The remaining king was the Spade King-- as the King of Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs are seen to be locked up in the Dungeon. Therefore, the Spade King put the Knight, and his strange son into power. IF it were the Spade King in power, the dialogue box WOULD have said “himself”. Therefore, the Knight, and his strange son were put in place to control the kingdom. And who are they?
Gaster/Rouxls Kaard, and Lancer.
Evidence to back this up:
Lancer calls Rouxls his “Lesser Dad”. And Rouxls calls Lancer, his Strange little darling/son.
The Spade King is not in charge. During his boss-fight, he states that he obeys the word of the Knight.
If you observe more of Lancer’s dialogue in the scene right before the gang enters Card Castle, he states that his dad, (Spade King), recently forced his troops to listen to Lancer instead. Therefore, Lancer is by all respects actually second in command to the Knight.
One of Rouxls main interests is...Lawmaking. Even though he is just supposedly an innocent Duke of Puzzles.
Another one of Rouxls main interests is...Cages, and long strolls in the dungeon...
There are innocent puzzle-makers locked up in the Prison who are terrified--they were arrested for the simple act of making a puzzle without a license. HM, I wonder who could have possibly locked them up? *Wink wink nudge nudge*
And what ties this all together, is perhaps the most obscure, tiniest detail that no one would have likely observed on a first play-through. If you go to the first floor of Card Castle and click the description tablet next to the elevator to the Prison, it claims that the Prison used to just be a Basement Which Just Happened to Have a Lot of Cages. This is backed up by the caged animals in the basement, who say that they miss the “good old days” when they used to be the only ones there in cages, and not a bunch of people behind bars.
In summary, Rouxls is locking up a bunch of innocent people, and playing nice to our faces. He IS the knight. And he is not to be underestimated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Point #7: Rouxls’ Plan is Already Set in Place
The part where this theory gets a little dark, ties back to my mentioning of the control crown earlier.
If you observe the throne room, it looks like it was recently torn apart in a sort of...conflict.
Tumblr media
Why was the Spade King the only king left un-caged to begin with? Why wasn’t he locked up too?
Well...Rouxls Kaard needed someone to put him in charge. But not only that—he needed a scapegoat. Someone to blame. Someone to be “The Bad Guy” for the Heroes to fight.
The Spade King...is actually innocent. He is obeying the Knight, because he is being controlled by a Control Crown. The throne room is in ruins because the Spade King likely fought against this at first, but Rouxls won and successfully put the Spade King under his command. I thought it was strange how the King was so...violent. So irredeemably evil, and even murderous toward his own son Lancer. Yes, it could be argued that this is indeed his true personality, that he is a complete, abusive jerk. But, the whole ending battle of Deltarune chapter 1 feels so...set up in a way? It feels so starkly good vs evil, black and white. Almost like a play.
And oh boy. I think I was onto something.
If you pay close attention to the fight with the Spade King, there is a brief moment at the beginning where he is completely shrouded in shadow. Except. For. His. Crown. It glows stark white in comparison to himself. Like a Chekov’s Gun if you will.
And even more interesting, in the supposed good/pacifist ending, the Spade King is locked up in Prison, the other three kings are still locked up in cages, everyone else is freed, and Rouxls and Lancer now have full control of the kingdom...
Guys. We just played right into Gaster’s hands.
Point #8: Seam Knows that Rouxls is the Knight...
The final observation that genuinely makes me convinced in this theory, is a small detail I noticed at the end of the Pacifist run of Deltarune. Once you have beaten the game, and all of the prisoners are freed, everyone comes to celebrate at Card Castle for your victory. Everyone, except for Seam. That is because Seam knows what the “Strange Knight” did to Jevil. He knows who the Strange Knight is. And he knows what the Knight’s true intentions are.
Point #9: Extra Tidbits I noticed:
When compared to the other denizens of card castle, Rouxls seems out of place. He is the one vaguely humanoid character among a bunch of card and chess themed Darkners.
His puzzle is... too easy.
Rouxls is oddly excited about overthrowing the king/taking his place.
Rouxls is well versed in calligraphy of all things. (Relation to fonts + letters.)
Rouxls “sparkles” have an odd resemblance to the shining save states...?
He makes pop culture references, such as ones seen here and here. Could just be random throwaway jokes, but often times more “aware” characters such as Sans and Papyrus are keen on breaking the fourth wall at times/making references to relate with the audience.
His hair looks strangely out of place. Especially the hairline which is really receded to an unnatural degree on the left side. It’s a wig guys...
He gets a suspiciously new position for no reason at all. In any normal situation, he would be extremely unqualified for it if he were as stupid as he makes himself out to be.
Rouxls is literally wearing armor, akin to a medieval knights.
If you pay close attention, Rouxls has a few very subtle similar speech patterns to Gaster. They both occasionally repeat words twice. They both use the words wonderful and truly a lot, etc.
When Kris and the gang beat the K. Round, Rouxls said it was just to test their abilities.
Rouxls theme has leitmotifs from Gaster’s theme.
End of discussion. Deltarune’s finale is legit going to be Gaster getting his wig snatched.

* ralsei!
YAYYYA ralsey my friend ralsei......... i don't talk abt ralsei much but i love him so get ready for an info dump lol
i'm going to structure the headcanons like a character profile thing bc i think that will be easier to read than just dumping them all in a paragraph. also pls bear in mind these are just my fav silly headcanons, it doesn't mean i necessarily think they're accurate to canon or that i dislike other ppl's headcanons (sorry if i'm overexplaining i thought i should add a lil disclaimer)
ANYWAYS!!!! ralsy headcanons time....... ..
pronouns: i think ralsei would be OK with any pronouns! maybe he would prefer he/they though
gender: personally i'm a big fan of nonbinary ralsei. he's kind of Boy Adjacent but i think for darkners in general, gender is less of a thing. he's just a little creature
age: i see ralsei as being around the same age as kris and susie, so like 15-18 somewhere. a personal little headcanon of mine is he's actually the youngest of the group, but everyone automatically assumes he's older bc he seems the most emotionally mature lol
sexuality: asexual and biromantic. i think it suits him :-)
Miscellaneous headcanons:
- ralsei is very brave i think. although he's gentle and friendly, he's not afraid to stand up to people and speak his mind. if his friends are in danger he will always do his best to protect them
- ralsei is an insecure person. i don't really mean that he dislikes himself, but i don't think he places much value on his own existence. i mean he's pretty much stated that he sees himself and other darkners as existing to please lightners. i think that he'd maybe struggle with doing nice things just for himself and thinking abt his own needs. it would be hard for him to learn to put himself first
- while i definitely don't think ralsei is secretly evil (and if he is i will be extremely mad and disappointed in toby tbh lol), i do think he's hiding things from everyone and that there's a lot of stuff we don't know abt him yet. i think he has good intentions, but only time will tell if he's leading kris and co. down the right path or not.
- ralsei, despite being kind and caring on a surface level, has a hard time dealing with complex emotions in other ppl (eg. his reaction to how kris behaves after the spamton neo). he tries his best but his responses can come off as unhelpful and shallow. it's not that he doesn't care, he just wants ppl to be happy, but he doesn't really understand that sometimes conflict and negative emotions are necessary.
- despite being a goat/goat adjacent, he has little paws with toe beans. this is canon i've decided
- he gets allergies in the spring/summer
- him and lancer end up being really close and kind of have a brotherly type of relationship
- he likes to watch random old soap operas
- he's crafty! he knows how to sew and knit and one of the aspects of his healing magic is that it heals rips/tears in clothes too, not just physical injuries

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like Ralsei is a bit more... "sus" in Chapter 2 of Deltarune than he was in Chapter 1? Or perhaps, more accurately, that he definitely is keeping secrets and might be more than what he's letting on... (Which is especially ironic—or maybe not—considering he hid his face for 99% of chapter 1.) Now, I'm not saying I think he's outright evil or has ulterior motives... I just think he's definitely omitting certain truths or conveniently neglecting to talk about them.
More spoilers and thoughts on why I feel Fluffy Boi is keeping secrets below the cut!
Now, I'm not saying Ralsei is acting wildly out of character during chapter 2. He still seems largely the same to me, overall (at least at the time of writing this post with only an initial playthrough and first impression under my belt.) I still enjoy him as a character too, he's just too cute not too! Deep down, I think and hope he's still got overall good intentions.
What I'm referring to is, namely, how no one in-game asks him about a very important fact that we learn about Darkners roughly 3/4ths of the way through the game.
We find out from seeing it happen to Lancer, and within a very short timeframe, that when Darkners are outside their Dark World "Realm" or too far away from their original fountain that sustains them, that they turn to stone.
We even see this happen to Rouxls Kaard a little while after Lancer becomes completely statuesque. However, with Rouxls, it seems to have taken longer to affect him (it even stops at his shoulders, likely for comedic effect, I figure,) since I believe I remember seeing the single "glimmer that is the Dark World inhabitant leaving Kris' inventory " that was likely him leaving the inventory when Kris and Susie first dropped into the Computer-Lab-Dark-World. (This is further evidenced by various NPCs referring to Rouxls' shenanigans around the area before you actually run into him, like at the fancy Cafe in Queen's castle that plays the "Hip Shop" theme itself, for example.)
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but maybe being a more powerful Darkner helps stave off the petrification process? Or does it have more to do with "how well" the Dark-World-Hopping Darkner "fits in" with the different Dark World they've invaded? (I believe I remember Ralsei explaining it that way...) Was there an explanation or part of one that I missed in just my first late-night playththrough?
But, whatever the case, this brings me back around to my main question:
Why doesn't Ralsei turn to stone in this new Dark World like Lancer and Rouxls Kaard do?
What makes him "immune"? Is it because he's the prophesized "Prince from the Dark"? Is it because he's a more powerful Darkner than the other two? Or is it... some other reason entirely?
I'm just sitting here pouting that we (as Kris) didn't get the option or a moment to ask Ralsei "will you turn to stone too?" Or that Susie didn't bring that up and confront Ralsei (with good or gruffly worried intentions) about it! I get that there were more pressing matters at hand for most of the adventure but!!! It immediately worried and bothered me!!!
Ralsei himself never seemed to be in a rush. I'm unsure if there are other options, but we definitely see him and Susie just taking their time and enjoying carnival-like activities and happily munching cotton candy. The two of them talk about playing carnival games when Kris and Noelle reunite with them. Ralsei is happy to take a leisurely boat ride with Kris. He never seems to express a need for urgency, like he's worried he's going to turn to stone.
ALSO!!! How he was just able to boop teleport and appear conveniently as soon as he was needed in the Computer-Lab-Turned-Dark-World without being carried there like Lancer and Rouxls had to be through the Light World??? NEITHER KRIS NOR SUSIE COMMENTED ON THAT EITHER!
Cute lil goat prince has something to hide, hmmm?!
I'm definitely thinking there's more to this Fluffy Boi than meets the eye... More than I initially thought and/or more than we've been told so far...
What do you all think?

So.
Who wants to hear my Deltarune au.
It’s called the Bluebird AU, and it centers around Berdly. (Fair warning, there’s a fair amount of Krerdly in here.) Me and a friend came up with it.
So, it’s not like the Berdly snowgrave route, where he takes the place of Noelle- he actually takes the place of Susie. So this goes through both chapter one and two- Chapter one isn’t as well thought-out though. There is actually no Weird route possibility in this au- even if you attack everybody, things progress as normal.
Synopsis: Berdly is the monster in the prophecy instead of Susie. At the beginning of chapter one, Kris comes in last and needs a partner for their group project. The smart girl in the class, Noelle, was already partnered with Susie, so you have no choice but to partner with Berdly. He takes you up on your offer, only because he doesn’t have a partner and he’ll be able to flex on you a lot with his smarts. The teacher realizes that she left her flashcards in the closet, and she needs to pass those out so each group can brainstorm. (You actually get them at the end of chapter one, but you keep them because Alphys just went and bought more. They become some sort of TP-increasing item like a tension bit in chapter two.) Since he’s a smart boi, Alphys asks Berdly to get the cards, and asks you to go with him so he doesn’t end up hiding in the empty classroom playing his DS. You guys find the dark world, progress through chapter one. Ralsei still joins you guys, but he’s less important. Lancer isn’t really there. You still get sent to prison, and Berdly struggles against the puzzles. Chapter one ends as normal, yada yada. Berdly never really gets close with Ralsei, and Kris doesn’t get as close as they usually do.
Chapter two is where it gets good. When you two fall into the cyber world, Berdly loses his glasses. So his dark world form doesn’t have his duel gazer. He can’t see shit. You still have to rescue your classmates, but Noelle doesn’t join your party or anything. The acid lake ride happens with Berdly instead of Ralsei. But the interesting part comes when you beat Spamton Neo. Kris is shocked from the battle and has goosebumps, and Berdly ends up yelling at Ralsei for not caring about them. He ends up taking the Dealmaker because hey, glasses- and Kris had offered them to him. After Berdly puts them on, however, Spamton begins speaking to him through them and manipulating him, saying he’s not enough, that he has to listen to Spamton or Kris will abandon him. The Dealmaker actually carries into the Light World and continues talking to him and such.
Information about Berdly: Bluebird Au Berdly is trans male, autistic, adhd, and has tourettes/tics. Some of Berdly’s tics are making bird noises, jaw clenching, and saying/shouting random video game lines. He can read sign language but can’t really sign. He doesn’t really like touch. His special magic is a forcefield generated by compressed circulated air, and it raises the party’s defense.
Anybody has complete permission to draw this, write fics, etc! Some little fragments of Bluebird AU writing under the cut.
ONE-
They turned to Berdly, who was jotting something into a notebook with one hand and mindlessly messing with something in his other hand. It looked like… a tiny game controller?
He didn’t seem to be paying attention to them, occasionally letting out a few squawks and rolling his shoulders.
Well, it’s not like Kris particularly wanted to be his partner, but there was nobody else. Besides, they didn’t really want to ask Susie- she tried to bite them when they walked by Noelle. So, they tapped his shoulder.
Berdly jumped in his seat, his little controller clattering to the floor. His eyes were wide, and he let out a little squawk. He seemed pretty shocked until he took in who it was.
“Oh. It’s only you. What is it you want, hmmm?”
He watched them sign, and then, after processing what they meant- it took a moment, he wasn’t fluent- and then, once he understood what they were asking, he tapped a feathery finger on the desk.
“You? Partner with me? Well, everybody else is taken anyway… fine, but only because because your intellect is much lower than mine and you’ll never pass without me. I’ll be kind enough to help you pass.”
TWO-
Kris watched his companion grope around the floor, a nervous sweat on his forehead down. He expected his hands to collide against what he was looking for, but they didn’t. Kris could hear him let out a little curse as he stood up, looking around this new, unfamiliar world with blurred sight.
“I lost my glasses.”
THREE-
Berdly’s eyes caught on the glasses in Kris’ shaking hands. They had goosebumps and seemed cold as death- Berdly understood that- the puppet the two of them had fought had been eerie, definitely. But it seemed to be more than that. Almost like something had hit a little too close to home.
“Kris? Are you okay?”
Silence, save for Kris’ strangled breathing. The bluebird really didn’t know what to do; they were just holding out the glasses, shaking. With their free hand, they signed something. The signing was slow and deliberate, not their usual style of fast and grammatically correct sign.
“Take.”
He looked at them, a bit confused. “You want me to take them?”
“Take.”
Well, he had needed glasses, ever since he lost his during the fall into the Cyber World. He took them and slid them on- despite the duly-colored lenses, he could see really well. He looked back at Kris. Instead of holding out one hand now, their arms were open, as if welcoming a hug. Berdly hesitated for a moment, before leaning in and giving them a hug. They gripped back tightly- it felt… off, somehow. Usually their rare hugs were soft and tender, not crushing like this.
Why was he complaining? This was a rare, precious thing, so he hugged back, pushing back the nagging on the back of his mind.
Come to think of it, the nagging seemed louder than usual- almost like a physical voice, telling him everything was normal.
But that was crazy- right?

Tearrorizer Route (Weird/Snowgrave Route AU)
(Will update when I get time. There’s more to add and things to rewrite)
I haven’t seen one with Seam yet (please tell me if one exists already so I can go apologize to the creator. though knowing my imagination this is probably not gonna be too similar... hopefully), so here we go.
Note: Whenever I refer to Kris, I’m mostly talking about the Soul/Player acting through Kris and not Kris themself. I just say Kris for simplicity.
Also: since this is an AU I’m just gonna pretend the thing with Darkners turning to stone in incompatible Dark Worlds isn’t a thing. That way this thing can happen.
EDIT: Nevermind I came up with an actual explanation now instead of just using AU logic. Basically, since the Devilsknife never turns to stone in the Cyber World I’m assuming Jevil is somehow immune to that, and chances are Spamton’s items won’t turn either in future chapters so it seems that Shadow Crystal holders are safe (well, since we don’t have any explanations currently I can use that as the explanation for this AU). In this AU, Seam would’ve taken Jevil’s from Kris before things start to go off the normal path so maybe that’d give them some kind of protection? (I also have another explanation I’d probably need to put in its own post related to my headcanons about both Seam and Ralsei regarding their Light World equivalents but I’m not even going to try to explain that one in less than three paragraphs. I know I can’t do it).
I picture this in my head in like a fangame style so I’m probably gonna describe it sound like a hack concept or something, maybe. I don’t know actually. I swear I suck at this.
*Kris pressures Seam into going with them by repeatedly trying to talk to them until it’s clear what they want. Eventually gets them to cave but they hide in Kris’s in pocket/inventory with Lancer and Rouxls (and the Original Starwalker, can’t forget that), and sticks around when Rouxls ditches them. Gets some nice bonding time with Lancer. Things play out pretty normally until the group splits up in Cyber City. (also note that Susie has the Devilsknife here).
*Noelle never joins Kris in this AU. Instead Kris ends up kinda pressuring Seam (pictured: repeatedly selects them in the inventory) into coming out and helping them.
*According to the Undertale cross-stitch book, Seam used to use a seam ripper in combat. They bust it back out for this.
*Has card-themed attacks (all suits). I’ve seen most fans portray them with fire magic but idk where this originates from and can’t remember any mention of this in the game. If it’s true then sure, lump that on. Also has sewing-themed things. Though the most spells a character has in Deltarune is 3 so maybe lump all the card things into one attack, idk, this is an AU concept. All these spells can help advance the route.
*Seam gets increasingly less jokey as the route progresses and and they “get stronger.” They basically become unresponsive beyond the occasional free words and, of course, the acts they do when commanded.
*Fast forward to when the group reunites at Queen’s Mansion and things are kinda in shambles there because it turns out Jevil’s on the loose. The Devilsknife kinda just vanished as soon as Susie took her eyes off him and after she and Ralsei got to the mansion they understood why: he was running amuck there. Group splits up again to find him. Susie and Ralsei both make their own comments on the state Seam’s in but ultimately don’t think much of it because they trust Kris and didn't see all the violence... oh boy...
*Unlike the actual canon route, here they have to keep the violence up even after entering Queen’s Mansion ‘cus Seam is still in the party (while in the actual route everything you do without Noelle in the party is inconsequential to the route, meaning you can actually still recruit some mansion enemies like Tasque Manager and Mauswheel. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard, I’m too much of a wuss to play the route).
*Eventually the two find the jester and he reveals that he’s been doing all this mainly to get Seam’s attention ‘cus he missed playing with them in particular so much (Jevil likes a good challenge every now and then...). However, he kinda quickly notices that something’s not right with his ex-companion, especially since they don’t even seem to recognize him at first. And when they do, they don’t even respond, they’re just silent for some reason...
*Kris orders Seam to proceed until a fight starts. Jevil is suddenly not so enthusiastic about this, and makes repeated comments about their strange behavior.
*I imagine it’d still be possible to abort the route at this point (like with Berdly’s fight in the Weird Route, where it could be aborted via FIGHTing, not using SnowGrave, or by ACTing [with new ACT options making the entire thing out to have just been one big prank on Berdly to make him mad). However, what’s important right now is the special new spell/Snowgrave-equivalent: Tearrorizer (because pun). All you need to know is that it involves scissors (if this were a game attack the screen would cut to black after the scissors appear and a sound effect would play so it’d be kinda ambiguous but then the screen would cut back and, at least when used on a Darkner, the normal death animation for them [by that I mean the one you see when you hack the game to allow Snowgrave to be used on normal enemies, where they turn into some kind of red mist and blow away] would show so thankfully it wouldn’t be TOO gruesome...)
*Seam tries to silently refuse at first but eventually caves under the pressure and...
*In the moments before Jevil fades away, he gets some final dialogue about how he doesn’t blame them for what they just did and even kinda apologizes for all the trouble he caused before and even after getting locked away. Seam seems absolutely grief struck and is forced to watch their former-friend die.
*The poor cat is just kinda left there to mourn in silence until the Fountain is sealed.
*Back at Castle Town, their seap is now closed...

YES I also think something is wrong with Ralsei. Toby has always been really good at challenging our expectations of certain characters. When we first meet flowey we think he is our friend, until proven otherwise. Asgore is also hyped to be an evil person but turns out to be a fuzzy pushover. Sans is seen as a lazy weak guy who likes jokes, until we see his true power in a no mercy route. There is so much mystery surrounding Ralsei when you think about it. How does he know about the prophecy in the first place? How does he know about the Titans and the roaring?? Why doesn’t he turn to stone??? And something that’s been bothering me is how’d he get in the computer lab if he wasn’t in kris’ pocket… also my friend pointed out how ralsei is an anagram for Asriel but who else is also an alternate version of Asriel?? That’s right, Flowey.
RALSEI IS JUST INCREDIBLY SUS
I'm really curious about those conversations he had with Kris while the player was busy keeping an eye on Susie in both chapters; both times, it seems like he was having a conversation with Kris, but they stop talking before the player can hear what they're talking about.
Something odd I've also noticed is that there are a ton of hints in the game that Kris really likes Susie and has bonded very closely with her over the course of the game ... but I don't think we ever see anything similar about Kris' feelings in regard to Ralsei?
I can't help but wonder if Ralsei knows about the difference between Kris and the player, and has been talking to Kris about it while we haven't been looking. Ralsei might be hiding something from us that Kris now knows about. Based on the ambiguity surrounding Kris' feelings on Ralsei, they might have mixed feelings about whatever it is Ralsei is hiding. Ralsei seems to sincerely love Kris a ton, but Kris might be a little more critical of their new buddy ...
Also, I haven't seen that scene for myself yet, but I've heard that Kris seems shaken up after the fight with Spamton NEO, most likely because Spamton being puppeted around and then dying when his strings are cut reminds them of their own situation and makes them afraid of what would happen if they were freed from the player's control, and Ralsei apparently just kind of ... brushes them off? Maybe he's trying to hide the existence of the player from Susie and is pushing Kris to do the same? And Kris is upset with him for pushing them to hide something that's clearly hard on them from their new friend they knew would want to help them?
Whatever's going on, I do think all three characters care about each other very much and that their friendship with one another will ultimately make everything turn out okay, but oh BOY do I worry about what will happen in between that point and now hahaha

Dark World Ages: Revised
Ok, my previous theory on the age of the old classroom’s fountain has been getting notes, and I’d like to bring up a flaw I just realized:
The computer room world had a timeline.
Spamton.
Look up what happens after you fight Spamton NEO. From the sound of it, his backstory definitely couldn’t happen in just one day. It sounds more like it took years, and the absolute shortest it could take is a few months. Even then, he said his favorite year was 1997. The portal was opened yesterday, how was he even alive back then?! So, even though the portal to the computer room’s dark world was only opened recently... the world has been there for much longer.
There are two explanations I can think of:
1. All dark worlds are pre-existing. Making a fountain merely opens a door into it, but sealing the fountain ends that world altogether... Now that I put it on paper, it sounds self-contradicting. The dark world can’t exist without the fountain.
So, really, the only option left is:
2. The computer lab fountain has been open before.
Think about it. People were acting as if the queen’s takeover was recent. Maybe, just like the old classroom’s world, the knight came in, influenced a Spade monarch, put them into power to resume the knight’s plans, and then left to go open the next fountain. Of course, this might imply that the old classroom world was recently opened by the knight as well, but the old classroom world has a timeline, too. Remember Jevil? Yeah, that can’t happen in a single day, either. Seam talked about it as if it happened a long time ago.
Granted, the old classroom could be in a similar state: It was opened before, sealed shut, then reopened again. (And, frankly, no matter its age, it’s still a better base of operations than the closet.) This brings me to my next point:
The knight has touched every dark world before trying to use it to further their plans.
Most people agree that the person who corrupted Jevil and Spamton is the same person: Gaster, the knight, or both. Spamton’s popularity peaked in ‘97, so the knight visited the computer lab a LONG time ago. It’s like the knight is testing the world’s inhabitants before using it. Jevil was told that his world is a video game, became uncontrollable, and has now gone further insane due to years of isolation. Spamton’s success was definitely influenced by Gaster/the knight, and he was most likely giving/doing something in return for it. And as soon as the knight had what they needed, they dropped him. Spamton’s success plummeted, and now he hides away in the garbage.
Oh and while we’re here, while this does make it more uncertain whether the closet or classroom fountain was first, Ralsei is still sus. Again, look at the post-Spamton-NEO dialogue. Ralsei just immediately tries to brush off all the “being controlled” stuff. Also how the HECK did he get to the computer lab dark world from the school closet. This boy is sus.
edit: I removed a bit of the Spamton part cuz I just remembered that’s not where the freeze ring came from. Sorry for any confusion.

Here's my theory for the "Genocide" route. Since there's no way of kill when FIGHTing, it's likely that Kris don't want anyone to dies, and so is holding back to avoid killing anyone. Unfortunately they can't stop their teammates from being forced to kill by the player. I believe in each chapter starting with Chapter 2, you can forces a teammate to kill everyone for you.(Much to the Dismay of Kris and the 5 vessels)
oooo I like that theory a lot!! Kris doesn't seem like a violent person, they just seem like a lonely teenager that misses their brother (which I can relate to, my sister went to college pretty recently too)
So something, the player or the knight or whatever can push Kris to make others harm people. Though as of chapter 2, of the human souls the only one you can traumatize is Paxton. There are going to be seven chapters, though, so there will be more then enough time in the future chapters for me to make scenarios for the others to be injured or somewhat affected by the Pips route. Since this is chapter 2, there is exactly five more chapters one for each kid for me to come up with ways the genocide route of that chapter would effect them! If there are genocide routes for those chapters, there most definitely will be.
Paxton stops talking after the events of the Pipis route and also doesn't engage directly in fights after that. His arm is injured and in general he seems very... out of it. He doesn't speak unless Isabelle, Justin, or Ralsei speak to him and won't talk to Kris or look at Noelle. He is very shaken up, the poor boy probably found the icicle Berdly was in after coming out of hiding. The kid literally saw a corpse.
All he wanted was to do his book report and he came out of the experience with trauma and a fractured bone.
