something about Dazai being comfortable enough around Chuuya to be vulnerable and let him see his genuine reactions (especially his genuine shock) as he processes out loud is SO SO IMPORTANT TO ME
Tumblr media
plus Chuuya not being shocked to see the genius at work tells us this isn’t the first time he’s seen Dazai actively figuring things out in real time…
Tumblr media
the way Chuuya knows Dazai's nervous habits— noticing that Dazai is worried, and subtly checking on him. the way Dazai drops his facade in favor of putting all of his focus into the mental game at hand is such an obvious sign of trust & closeness for someone like Dazai, whose facade is his main form of defense
Tumblr media
how they interact with each other in the downtimes when there’s nobody watching…
all i can think is, look how far they’ve come since they were 16 when Dazai couldn’t trust anyone with his plans. how even now, Dazai is always putting up his “all according to plan” front, even with the agency. how Chuuya is the one person we’ve seen him truly drop the mask around, and Chuuya doesn’t bat an eye. even their banter is ongoing, but subdued.
soukoku and their subtle displays of intimacy will be the death of me 💔

Let’s talk about how much Geto (canonically) loved Gojo. He saw Gojo in a way no one else did.
Tumblr media
The way that Geto answers this question is deceptively meaningful. Let me explain…
This is a flashback, but we can assume this interaction is roughly 10 years after Geto’s defection, based on Nanako and Mimiko’s (Geto’s adopted-ish daughters) apparent ages. Right around the time of JJK0.
For context, let’s remember that the last time Geto and Gojo spoke as friends (KFC breakup), Geto said this:
Tumblr media
Geto was being intentionally hurtful here. He knew that everyone (except him) sees Gojo, first and foremost, as “the strongest.” Gojo is barely even a real person to them; he’s just a savior or threat or deus ex machina.
Geto used that to twist a knife and ask: “Is there actually anything more to who you are than just being the strongest sorcerer?” He knew this would be devastating to Gojo. Gojo’s best and only friend is saying: “even I don’t know if there is anything else that’s important about you other than your strength.”
Let’s go back to Nanako's question.
Tumblr media
She sets this question up in an important way. Like every (non-Geto) person, she sees Gojo’s fundamental defining quality as “strong." So, naturally, her immediate sub-question to “who is he?” is “he’s super strong, right?”
She’s asked the question in a way that Geto could very easily answer it: “yes, that’s right. He’s the strongest sorcerer.”
BUT
- - - - - Keep reading cut - - - - -
Geto gets contemplative. (“Hm…” - he’s thinking about how to answer because “Who is X?” is either a very basic question or a very philosophical question).
He ends up not even acknowledging the second part of the question about Gojo’s strength and instead tells her who Gojo is to him.
Because when they were best friends and even a decade later, he never actually thought of Gojo as just the strongest. Gojo was always something more to him.
“He was my best friend.”
As an adult, an ex-best friend from high school isn’t necessarily someone meaningful to you. Is Geto saying this actually significant? Yes.
This memory (“who is Satoru Gojo anyway?”) is what Nanako remembers as the context to this next thought:
Tumblr media
This is WILD.
This thought is during Nanako’s interaction with Sukuna where she is essentially blackmailing Sukuna into helping get Geto’s body back.
She loves Geto so much that she’d risk pissing off the most dangerous curse/demon/sorcerer just to get Geto’s body back. That’s how much she loves him.
But the man who actually killed Geto she will (never fully forgive but) “let things be” with. Because Gojo was Geto’s one and only best friend in a way that was deeply meaningful to him up until his death.
..
“Are you the strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo or are you Satoru Gojo because you’re the strongest?” is just what you say to someone you love when you need to hurt him enough that you can stay away from each other.

There’s a running theme in the series where the Forgers repeat back impactful words that was said to them to other people. So imagine post-reveal, Yor gets told about all of Twilight’s deeds: how he lied, cheated and manipulated others. But instead of getting angry, she repeats back his words from this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Twilight hears this and he cries.
I’ll cry too because what he said here meant so much to Yor. For the first time, there’s someone who understands her and her sacrifices. These words made her choose him.

Honestly Akane not being able to protest against decisions of other clock keepers is very interesting to me
Tumblr media
He very clearly wanted to protest against holding Teru guilty but he just accepts anyways, im guessing its because hes the weakest?
Also we all know that Akane can fight back if he wanted to, yeah, he may not be able to overpower Teru but he still COULD fight back, especially since hes on his boundary he must've got a massive power boost, he isn't an idiot if he had the intentions of doing this from the start he would be ready to fight, but no he got startled because he didn't expect the event to occur, let alone the action Teru gives (they both had it coming tbh /affectionate)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He even turned his face as he explained to Teru, he knows how he looks at that moment and didn't want to be reminded.
Tumblr media
HE İSN'T A BACKSTABBER STOP CALLİNG HİM THAT.
WOULD İ ADORE İT? YES. BUT İS HE THAT? NO
Also i hope they explore clock keepers abilities more i feel like theres more and I love that

Okay, walk with me here: so McMahon has a ring on his finger, meaning he COULD be married and to whom, we don’t know. That being said, this opens up the potential that later on in the story, there could be a chapter where he and his spouse(?) could go on a double date with Loid and Yor, wherein someone from Garden outside of Yor comes face to face with Twilight.
Tumblr media
Shopkeeper, already suspicious of Loid after Yor tells him about Loid’s interest in the Desmond party, tells McMahon to keep an eye on Loid and pseudo-interrogates him about his political interests. Loid gives a safe answer, but still prompts McMahon to look more into who Loid Forger is; somehow leading him to figuring out his true identity as Twilight.

Something I think about way too much is how Chuuya’s accelerated healing & (for the most part) physical invulnerability probably reinforced his beliefs that he isn’t human for a long time. And even now, it’s probably still a plaguing thought that he has to fight against.
Tumblr media
The fact that one of the only things that causes him to sustain physical damage is the very power that he feels segregates him from humanity.
Tumblr media
The fact that during one of the only times that Chuuya is physically vulnerable— for that short period after corruption— Dazai is the only one who gets to see him like that. And how it’s in those moments that Dazai is most tender with Chuuya.

bonney shrinking to her real age and form and giving vegapunk a hug while also apologizing for how she's acted. vegapunk giving her kuma's last gift to her, one that's meant to look like the sun and act as a protective charm — the sun, just like the type of deity Nika is, the promise of a future of freedom, joy and laughter; what kuma wanted for his daughter, even if he probably couldn't see it himself.

sota's brave confession of love being that episode:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[worth noting here that in the dub the way richard says "WHAT-ever..." priceless.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[also worth noting that in the dub he says "you already said that" instead of "hah! what're you saying?!" which feels more like an inuyasha response to me. then again we'll never know since this is technically anime-only, and while i tend not to like a lot of inuyasha filler, if it's in the modern day i will eat it up. every. time.]
Tumblr media
inuyasha being stunned by the sheer amount of goods in a grocery store...gold. earlier in this episode he also seemed enamored by baked goods, and i wonder if he's ever really had anything resembling it? bread made its way to japan mid-16th century via portuguese traders, so it's likely he's never had anything like it and the smell must've been new to him - it would've been interesting if we'd seen him trying all these new foods!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i can never decide whether or not sunrise likes inukag bc they'll cut out canon scenes of them but then insert scenes like this in their filler eps...what game are ya'll playing? but flustered inuyasha is adorable so i can't complain this time.
Tumblr media
eavesdropping...
Tumblr media
i'm sorry WHERE is he getting these questions from i actually burst out laughing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
called out by an eight year old...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't care whether or not this is ooc because i laughed way too hard like he really got dragged from potential sleep to deal with this LMAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is the cutest thing i've ever seen and it only gets better:
Tumblr media
shortly after: sota getting kicked out of his own house after chickening out for the tenth time this episode
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
smol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
flustered inukag my beloved...
anyway this episode is a dumb fun and i love it to an insane degree. the only part i would say is out of character (at least, more out of character than sunrise already does inuyasha) is when he literally makes this face at the thought of confessing to kagome:
Tumblr media
coming from the guy who was pretty open about his feelings in the manga and quite literally told kagome - thinking she was hearing him - that he likes seeing her smile and feels relieved when he's by her side, i don't see him getting this flustered - but the face he makes is priceless.

femto and child griffith
Tumblr media Tumblr media
more 3am thoughts when i have an exam tomorrow morning (inspired after seeing this gorgeous art btw): while i've seen my fair share of posts about femto and griffith, i haven't seen one about femto and child griffith specifically, and i'm also in a word vomit mood, so here goes.
imo femto, and neogriffith by extension, can be considered both the precise antithesis of and the fragile armor around that guilt-stricken, tottering child version of griffith that we see in the eclipse sequence. child griffith in the eclipse sequence is a representation of what made griffith human; not the untouchable, invulnerable, superhuman ideal that griffith projected for others, the ideal that made guts feel inadequate next to him. child griffith is griffith's guilt, his passion, his love, his affection, his sense of responsibility, his self-loathing, his fear, his insecurity.
femto has had all of these things excised by the sacrifice. he's the manifestation of the callous, cruel monster that griffith always feared he was, and the opposite in every way of what that child griffith stands for. but at the same time, femto only exists because that child griffith does. griffith only became femto because he had so much guilt and love and self-hatred and fear, and it eventually overwhelmed him. he only made the sacrifice because he couldn't bear those feelings, because he wanted so desperately to get away from them. in making the sacrifice and becoming femto, griffith put up an armor around his child self. he protects that guilt-stricken, tottering child from having to grapple any longer with the weight of his remorse and insecurity and pain, because, at his lowest point, it truly became too much for him to endure. femto may be the opposite of what child griffith stands for, but at the same time, femto could never exist without child griffith; he was born to shield him. he is both an anguished denial of and an enclosed, faraway sanctuary for that sobbing child staring at the castle in the sky, a dead boy in his arms and a mountain of corpses piled beneath his feet.
i think that fits really neatly into an overall theme of berserk too: that humans have different sides, and those different sides are not supposed to be wholly separate from each other. berserk likes to play with and defy dichotomies, and you're not supposed to think of griffith as separated down the middle into two: his "human" side and his "villainous" side. they exist together. his "villainous" side simultaneously rejects, protects, and is fueled by his "human" side. you can't have one without the other.
