Hi 👋

I took this ask as an invitation to figuratively dive into Richard's coat closet, and tried to compile every coat he wore in the last 30 years.

And oh boy, this man surely loves a good coat. He's the one member of this band who consecutively wore a coat on almost every tour and really takes a liking in the dramaturgical effect of wearing long (often times dark in color) coats and later reveiling additional outfits underneath, especially in later years. It fits his somewhat dramatic stage presence and he started quite early with these kind of stage outfits!

I subdevided this overview in two sub-topics to give this post somewhat of a structure, because this will be long.

1.) Richard's coats on stage (organized by year and tour)

1.1) Firstly, the plain black coat from the Herzeleid tour which he wore in 1995/1996. It's from what I could find the first time he wore a coat on stage while playing for Rammstein.

1.2) Addtionally, he wore the shiny red and silver coat during the Herzeleid tour as well as partly on the Sehnsucht tour in 1997. Same as the black coat before, he forwent any additional outfit underneath.

1.3) Also on the Sehnsucht tour, Richard wore the somewhat futuristic (reminded me a little bit of Star Treck costumes) black and silver coat which is clearly visible in Live aus Berlin. It suited the whole style of this era quite nicely and fit into the vibe of Till's cyborg/futuristic jacket as well.

1.4) For his outfit during the Reise Reise tour in 2004/2005, Richard settled for a black military-style coat. The button rows seem to be reminiscent of french military uniforms from the 17th and 18th century (as well as the button lines and the embroidery on the collar of the underjacket) and his pants were designed in a similar style. The lining of the coat is bright red, a theme which would occur numerous times over the years.

1.5) During the LIFAD tour, Richard wore a grey-mottled coat made out of a somewhat leathery material, adorned with silver buttons and a red armband - again he incorporated a red element in this coat, just like with the one before. On a sidenote: He once mentioned that Michael Jackson was an inspiration for this armband because Richard liked the cool look of it - his leg-belts (visible in the right picture) also kind of resemble the harness Michael wore on stage and in some videos during his Bad era.

1.6) An absolute personal favourite of mine: The studded coat Richard chose for the 2013 part of the Made in Germany tour, oftentimes paired with the torn black and red top underneath. This one also got red lining, as well as a fine red line near the cuffs of the coat.

1.7) In 2016 for the Festival tour, Richard wore coat in a more cosy and snuggly style, which marked a break in the clean cut coat-aesthetic up to this point. It was more in the style of a cardigan with a zipper instead of buttons. The armband made a reappearance as the signature red element (mirrored by a red band on his pants), and red lines along the seams added this colourful accent.

1.8) For the 2019 tour leg of the Stadium tour, Richard mixed things up by wearing a two piece combo made out of a leathery material, with a studded cap on the right shoulder and red elements in form of the usual arm band and a red folding in the front. The lower part of this outfit was removable, so the upper part remained as a jacket.

1.9) In 2022, he wore an all black coat with a belt and flaps along the shoulders, as well as snap fasteners as buttons; it overall resembled the typical look of a trenchcoat and seemed less rigid then the previous ensemble.

1.10) A true fandom favourite appeared on the scene in 2022 when he presented the infamous chicken coat. This one was already known from the "Freeze my mind" music video (from 2021) from Richard's side project and other band Emigrate. Different than in the music video, where a vest completed the look, Richard again after years went on stage without any outfit under it. This coat was used by him also during this year's tour leg.

1.11) Another personal favourite of mine is the black coat with red lining which he wore during this year's tour. Affectionatly dubbed "the vampire coat", this coat appears to be quite clean cut and simple, but has a very nice and dramatic effect on him (choosing gifs this time to underline this sentiment).

2.) Richard's coats off stage

Here are some of the coats Richard wore off stage during band fotoshoots and outings. Not counting normal jackets or parcas here.

2.1) The fur-lined coat during the Rosenrot fotoshooting:

2.2) The reoccuring black coat with fluffy fur elements, worn by him while being presented with awards in 2005 in Berlin as well as during the Echo award show in 2009:

2.3) He wore another black coat which looked pretty similar to the one before but is still slightly different during a signing in Paris 2004:

2.4) And a brown/beige kind of trenchcoat was his style of choice for the Fashion rock night in 2009:

2.5) During the outdoor shooting for the LIFAD album, Richard wore another black coat:

2.6) And lastly, the fancy embroidered coat Richard chose for promotion pictures for (I think) his first album with his band Emigrate:

Not sure if I was thouroughly enough and found every coat he ever wore, but I think the presented ones here really express his love for this piece of clothing in general 😊 I'm looking forward to either seeing a new coat on Richard next year or a return of his vampire coat 🦇 (Still hoping to see the studded coat someday again).

so I've heard in the past that some members of the band have hinted at not being 100% straight and richard has given hints at wanting to know what it's like to be a woman, could you please give me some sources to those since I've looked everywhere and can't really find them? thank you, if not, it's totally understandable

Another really really old ask, not because i didn't want to, but because i wanted to findas much info as possible 🌺 sorry anon for taking so long..

Well, the most recent 'hint' was Flake's podcast with topic 'gay/lesbian' where he mentioned that the topic came up one evening when the band were chatting and it turned out they all had their experiences 🥰

Rammstein is imo a band who has always been very 'inclusive' in any sexual preferences, and especially in Till's lyrics you can tell he is very interested in anything out there (not that that makes him 'not straight' (to be honest, i think he is, by some other quotes in interviews 😊) but i wouldn't be surprised if he tried some stuff somewhere in life).

Richard did an 2010 interview in Canada (don't have a link to the original, just this transcript) where he was quoted (about 'Mann gegen Mann')

"Actually, Till showed the lyrics to our Gay community, to our friends, just to make sure, because if you talk about something that you not really are, it's always kind of hard. Sometimes you cross the line, you don't think about it, but it could be offensive. If you do something because it's your experience, it's fine, but if you write something and you're not actually a part of it, I think you should make sure that everything you want to say is right. So he gave the lyrics to some friends, and they were very approving."

Which sort of confirms that they don't see themselves as gay so much. Also in interviews where they were asked 'are you gay', they usually end up with 'no'... interestingly, i don't think i've seen an interview where an interviewer explicitely asked 'are you bisexual' 🌺 (by the way, i would be really surprised if Richard hadn't some experience with a guy when he was younger, i vaguely remember he alluded to such in a really old interview, but i don't have a link).

Richard indeed has expressed ideas about his feminine side several times, in the interbiew above he says for instance

"If you talk to me right now, I'm a big believer in getting myself in balance between the female and the male side. I have a female side too, obviously."

And very striking was in several interviews ca 2021 after he did the cover 'Always on my mind' with Till for the Emigrate album 'The Persistence of Memory' and then made it a duet, stating:

"I mean, obviously, Till has also this very characteristic voice. And then it was pretty fast. He recorded one day. And then I was listening to it, and I felt a little bit that his performance was a little bit too male-oriented. So I felt I need a little female touch to it. So that’s why my personality came in. And I think it’s a good combination"

So he felt a female touch was needed, and added his own voice to Till's track 🥰

And ofcourse in 2023 he shared on his ig

"I've always wondered what it's like to be a woman"

Now ofcourse this could just be a Kruspe-caption 😊 but with the 'DT' video in mind and his role in it, it makes one wonder doesn't it... where is that making of when we need it 🌺😊

Croatia NT - because they achieved so much those past 5 years, yes I know they like to move games to penalties and play with our nerves, but I still feel like I am part of their family like other Croatia NT fans :)

Russia NT - because I simply like Russian people and I am half one, so I really fell in love with that team. They played so well during the WC in 2018 and during WC qualifiers. I was literally so miserable when I found out they will not be able to participate in Qatar

Serbia NT - idk I love them simply because they are our neighbours and I always love supporting my neighbours during EURO and WC

Who was your favorite player then and why?

(Wow wut a hard question I have asked myself) Livakovic obviously. I know he was being kept on a bench, but I always knew he would be a great goalkeeper, he is our number 1 and very important member of the National Team, yet I didn't post stuff about him at all because I didn't have Tumblr, I was a dumb kid lmfao- but yeah, I can talk about him 'till I die, so yeah I am moving to the next question before I go too far

Do you train football? If you don't, why?

Hell no I don't. First of all; I am very anti-social person (tho there is exclusion when it comes to going on matches I love rooting with other peeps), Second of all; I have very low self-esteem, Third of all; I wanted to be a goalkeeper, but I was always afraid to get goals bc people often get mad at me, fuck them

Favorite clubs?

Dinamo Zagreb - I've been following this club since 2018 after the end of WC in 2018 mainly because of Livi, I love that guy sm he is precious, but the love of this club has grown in 2021 because of its success in Europa League.

Man City - Kova plays in City and he is literally my 2nd fav football player, and one of my best friends roots for City so here we are 👌

Borussia Dortmund - Idk I just love them so much, their mascot is so cute, the club has gotten my hear for some reason 😭

Dear Rammstein,

On March 13, 2020, my dentist called to cancel my appointment. Because of the lockdown, he said, but not to worry, it would only be a few weeks, and then he would fix that cavity. I had no way of knowing then that I would not leave the house for anything other than dental procedures and the renewal of my library card until September 12, 2022.

It wasn't so bad at first. I have never much been comfortable around people; I have the social skills of a turnip and the social graces of a hyena with gout, and it was nice to have an excuse to bunk in with my long-neglected book trove and sit around in my underwear. No being stared at as I trundled along in my wheelchair, no being given pitying looks in the grocery store or stepped around as though I weren't there. No well-intentioned but annoying Christians offering to lay hands on me so God would heal my affliction. Just quiet. Blessed, blessed quiet.

Splendid. Until it wasn't. Until the momentary sense of community ignited by the onslaught of COVID disintegrated into paranoia and conspiracy theories and earnest discussions about whether or not the old and the fragile and the disabled were an acceptable loss if it meant the sacred economy could return to full function and those who "deserved" it could go back to their lives. Until I opened Twitter and saw my fellow countrymen declaring that trying to protect the vulnerable was a waste of time and resources, and that if a bunch of cripples died, so what? Why should they be robbed of their freedom by...wearing a mask. We could just stay inside forever and rot as long as they got to go on their vacations or out to eat. It was sad for the unfortunates, and they felt terribly, but those were, apparently, the breaks.

It should be noted that their heartfelt sorrow for the plight of did unfortunates did not stop them from spewing their awfulness with merry impunity where anyone could see it.

I've always known that my life never carried much value as far as the world is concerned. When your eyes are at asshole level, you see a lot of shit. But to see it expressed so baldly, and by people you respected--and by your grandmother, ab old lioness for has protected you all your life--breaks something inside you, collapses the faint hope that you were wrong, that you are just a crotchety misanthrope who wants to believe the worst. That people are better than you think.

Five months into the pandemic, the local hospital issued an edict that if medically-vulnerable people contracted COVID, they would not be treated, but sent home to live or die as they might. The resources were needed for those "with a better quality of life," i.e., those with lives they deemed worth living.

And I broke. I ate and slept and read, but I was numb and tired and empty and angry. The world didn't want me, so why should I want it? Why should I waste energy on it? I turned off and tuned out and spent my days staring blankly at Youtube videos.

And then, what should happen but that you should announce that the 2021 tour, which was out of my financial reach, was now slated for 2022? And here I was with two stimulus checks of which I had not spent a cent. In 2010, the hope of seeing you at MSG kept my head above the water. Maybe you would do it again.

Instead of moping, I began researching. Organizing. Planning. Weighing options. Budgeting. Who had time to listen to the nasty little ogres on the Internet when there were logistics to consider? For the first time since that phone call, I had hope of doing more than moldering in my rooms so my healthy superiors could live unencumbered by the dreadful horrors of a cloth mask they could easily remove.

I still seethed at the casual cruelty of my fellows, but now I got up and checked for tour news and watched videos of the European leg to see what to expect and savored Jens Koch's stunning photo work that allowed me to see details I knew I would miss in my terrible accessible seats. I had a purpose. A goal. I felt something other than nothing.

On September 12, 2022, I got into my van and made the eight-hour drive to Florida to pick up a friend, and then we made the thirteen-hour drive to San Antonio. It took four days because I'm just not built for endurance runs, and because my stubborn companion refused to believe the air conditioner was broken until we began to sweat to death even with the windows rolled down. Four days of hotels with no accessible rooms despite them being mandated by federal law. Four days of bathing in sinks and pissing in lobby restrooms and eating fast food and sleeping like shit because my body was in rebellion and exhausted from the adrenaline and the wild fluctuations in body temperature.

We pulled into San Antonio on the 16th. Surely I would get a shower now. My reservation was marked as accessible roll-in shower guaranteed. And this was a swank hotel. I could finally regain a little dignity.

Except...

After leaving me to stew in the lobby for two hours after I arrive, an alert bellhop realizes I've been there a while and fetches the manager, who has the grace to look embarrassed and personally delivers the keys. I got to my room, ecstatic at the prospect of a bath, only to find...a bathtub. Which I cannot get into.

I want to cry like a two-year-old. I am hot, dehydrated because it's dangerous to drink when you're not sure you can pee, and filthy. I reek. I know how I must look, like some greasy, slovenly invalid who lacks the awareness or ability to take care of herself. Like someone who should be institutionalized.

I want to protest, but the hotel is fully booked, and I don't want to draw attention to myself. I have driven roughly seventeen hundred miles in in a rolling blast furnace, and I can't risk being kicked out for not being properly grateful. So no shower. At least I can piss in private.

And then it is the 17th, and there is Schneider, and the darkness explodes, and I burst into tears because there you are. I made it. I might stink like a polecat in heat and be sore and dehydrated and exhausted, but you are there, and you are beautiful and magnificent, and nothing else matters, and for two hours, nothing hurts. I weep sporadically from "Armee der Tristen" through "Engel" and again at "Adieu." I'm sure some folks in the section thought I was crazy. I don't care. I was alive. I had rediscovered a sense of wonder I had lost.

Thank you. Thank you, thank you. You kept my head above the water until I found the strength to pull myself out of the despair that threatened to pull me under. You reminded me that there was joy in the world, and wonder, and hope. You gave me a reason to fight even when I don't want to. There can be no greater gift.

No one will ever convince me there aren't wings beneath your skin. Bless you and godspeed, and may you find happiness wherever you go.

Sad Paul comforted by Till

In the 26.05.2022 concert in Klagenfurt, Paul Landers's pyro arm failed during Du riechst so gut, which made the guitarist sad. Luckily, Till Lindemann made sure to comfort his unlucky colleague.

Richard has such a saucy way of speaking sometimes. Some words he pronounces, both in german and English, are just so 💅🤣

I definitely know what you mean.

I noticed it a while ago, that Richard sometimes has a certain way to pronounce some words when he's explaining something - like he subconsciously wants to bring his point across with extra distinct pronunciation. (To me, in these moments he sometimes sounds like a pompous/posh professor, but in a charming way 🫶🏻).

The Haifisch making of is a good example but I think he was in a bit of a playful mood here 😊 There are other times when he's speaking very clearly, very distinct and in a way very concentrated (accentuating the important words and phrases), for example in the Making of for Rammstein, when he explains the situation with David Lynch and their demo tape (starting at 1:40min):

Yet oftentimes Richard's really relaxed in interviews, making flippant remarks, sometimes having a lovable offhand attitude - I have the feeling that this happens when he's talking more about things which concern personal matters, or when he's already comfortable and/or acquainted with the interviewer, like in this podcast from 2021 (he already made a podcast with the interviewer in 2018):
