hi hello i had another acelu supernatural AU thought while I was working... I know Original Anon said it wouldn't get into the angels/demons storyline, BUT

what if there was still the doomed-brother plotline? Like, if it's Luffy who's like Sam, destined to be the vessel of a Lucifer-figure... maybe Nika (who I haven't gotten to in my OP read, so I'm just going on vibes) has chosen Luffy as its host. And it's mostly a creature of chaos/not purely evil, but it's so powerful that the longer it inhabits Luffy, the more likely it is that he'll be lost/"taken over"

meanwhile Ace is still the son of Roger, famed demon hunter and has taken on all his skills and tricks... but it's the way Ace is different from Roger—that he still sees Luffy as his brother, someone he knows and loves and has learned to trust—that allows him to save him

#ehh? eh? #i'm picturing like... at some point nika!luffy goes off on some kind of chaos rampage #but it's still kind of seeing things through Luffy's eyes so #the path of destruction across the country follows important places in Luffy's life #and as Ace is trying to track them down he learns about how luffy spent the time that they grew up apart #and meets luffy's friends (the strawhats!!) to ask them for help #but also learns that in little ways luffy was always thinking of him #anyway #big scene where they finally corner nika but he's like overloading with power #and it's that trope you know #where ace's choices are 1. strike nika down #or 2. let him live but it'll cause the destruction of like a whole state or whatever #and it's not that ace can't hurt luffy but he believes in luffy's strength to overcome this #look i LOVE the trope!! where he makes a speech and it gets through to luffy through all the chaos #and ace is like 'it may have looked like i was the one taking care of you all these years... but you were the one that saved me' #'and i need you to do it one more time. i know you can' #ahhhhhhh #acelu #headcanons #there's also the alternative where ace is the doomed one/maybe roger was a literal demon so now ace is on the angels' hitlist #it would be very similar to canon.... except if i have anything to say about it #he'd fucking live lmao 😂

Fall of a King, Rise of a Kraken

ok we're back on the theory/rewrite/whatever grind covering a few major events in this one, primarily based around squisker and the events that led up to mckraken getting the role of chairman along with some Extra Stuff that is exclusive to my lore, wow !

so as mentioned previously, there was a huge surge of yokai abandoning their medals and becoming 'white yokai' some time before the events of the first game, around the time when word was starting to get out that lord enma might not last much longer and for so many yokai to suddenly jump to something so drastic, someone must be leading them on, right?

well. nobody knew it at the time - surprisingly well-kept secret - but the culprit was a certain yokai whose relations with humans were...less than stellar, to put it shortly. and he just so happened to be dipping his tentacle into politics, to see if he could make the most of the unrest caused by the upcoming power vacuum. admittedly, he wasn't expecting to get as far as he did legitimately, but he rounded up a decent following quite quickly some were desperate for a leader to turn to, with enma supposedly getting worse by the day and his only potential heir rushed off to the human realm in case of trouble others were similarly bitter toward humankind, on account of Certain Incidents that had occurred in the past with the few humans who could sense them the motives didn't really matter that much to mckraken. what was important was that he was being listened to, and he might just get the opportunity of a lifetime.

and then it happened. lord enma was officially announced to be dead. gone peacefully in his sleep, and didn't even leave a trace.

the immediate reaction, amidst the general grief and mourning, was to scramble to find someone to fill his position and lead the yokai and given his following [ despite the odd 'coincidence' of a majority of them being white yokai ], mckraken was a popular candidate. things were looking pretty good. but of course, he wasn't quite lucky enough to have everything go without a hitch.

the trouble was that mckraken had a rather close relative, who had been in politics for some time he was liked well enough, another popular name in discussion of enma's successor, but that wasn't the real problem, despite his considerably softer attitude toward humans it was more of a personal issue. squisker hadn't seen mckraken since the white yokai started to show up. intentional on mckraken's part, given the fact that he knew squisker would catch onto the issue quickly if he saw him like this but by chance, the two of them met a while after enma's death and it went about as well as you would expect. a conversation became a fight, which became a terrible misunderstanding squisker was accused of attempting to murder mckraken. not at all the case, and it's surprising that the accusation was even made. he wasn't the violent type, and nobody assumed him to be which is why mckraken didn't step in to defend him. he assumed it would be fine.

unfortunately, there was a particular piece of news which had failed to reach either of them at the time. and attempted assassination, bordering on regicide, wasn't easily glossed over by the simple fact that "he wouldn't". the sentence was the worst you could get, short of outright execution. and some would argue that it was worse than that.

on the plus side, that was the first and last time someone attempted to pry into the new chairman's best-kept secret. although after a while, rumors did begin to drift about regarding an unwinnable prize in the old crank machine on mount wildwood.

I went to bed, woke up just now, and am still thinking about Halsin going to bat for Null because he's being treated like shit and just taking it. He's just so tired by act 3 and Halsin would already be on edge from everything going on in act 3, so seeing Null be beaten down by everything life is throwing at him and refusing to reach out to anyone for help, keeping it all to himself to the point it's blatant how his health is slipping, would be almost too much for Halsin to bear.

#he wouldn't be like rampage level but he woudn't be nicey-nicey either #after everything good Null's done he deserves to be treated good back and Halsin wants to give it all to him and more #he and Astarion both look him over and hate what they see happening to him but neither know how to get through to him #so they just do what they can to ease the burden since it's like trying to help a brick wall at this point #it makes the time where everything is said and done and they all go in to trap him in a group hug all the sweeter since he accepts it

There is a kid--I think I’ve posted about them before and mentioned I thought they were a kid, and they’ve let slip enough since that I’m now sure of it--who first bounced into my world in co-op months and months ago to show off their new Hu Tao and friended me afterwards. Since then they pop in every so often to show off a new character they’ve built, and they’re always so EXCITED about it that it’s adorable. :D A lot of times I will accept their co-op request even when I’m in the middle of something and rejecting any others I get, because they are just! so cute about it! They always drag me to some boss or another specifically to show off their build and get very mad if the fight doesn’t go as intended.

Anyway, last night they showed up with their newly-built Beidou and took me to a new boss in the desert, a region I hadn’t even unlocked yet. I had no idea of the boss mechanics yet so I fucked it up very badly and died (me: “what happened? I’m not clear on the mechanics” the kid: “you decided to DIE”) and this kid made me stand to the side while they soloed it with just Beidou. XD And then walked me carefully through the mechanics and made me run it with them again. They also lectured me about still being AR 50 and told me they had to beat me up when I told them I’d decided to deliberately not raise my world level, so we had a little mock-duel with Beidou and Shenhe.

IDK, there’s no point to this post here, I’m just... very charmed by them? I’ve had bad multiplayer experiences in other games but I’ve never had anyone show up in Genshin who wasn’t at least polite, and I got to meet this kid who just wants to show off their characters, and there’s a few other people who’ve friended me who come into my world every so often for character-raising materials and/or to fight bosses at a lower AR, and it’s nice. :>
