Also the fact that Cinder has a cool name (Cinder obvi) and a fancy royal name (Selene), is also dope. She gets the best of both worlds *que Hannah Montana

Thinking of post Winter/Stars Above Adri with her riches that Cinder graciously granted her through allowing her to keep Garan's patent and how she'd undoubtedly make a lot of money off of it but it would ultimately do her and Pearl absolutely no good because Emperor Kaito is a petty bitch who hated Adri for Cinder without even knowing what she had done just cuz Cinder disliked her so the minute he finds out what Adri has actually done, he's beside himself with the desire to murder her with his own hands or throw her in prison.

Except Kai can't really do that being the diplomat he has to be and all so instead he Very Pointedly does not invite her to the Annual Peace Ball (despite Linh Garan's invention being... yknow... the reason they have peace). Naturally people have questions because there is a song specifically announced to be played in honor of a Linh Peony and Kai mentions Linh Garan by speech but Linh Adri and the living daughter Linh Pearl are noticeably absent.

Someone asks Kai and all he does is pleasantly respond, "We will not be sharing their company." It's a very abrupt sentence. No "unfortunately", no "pleasure of their company", not even a "tonight" to imply this is a one time deal. So naturally people have even more questions when this continues to happen. At every single ball Emperor Kaito ever throws.

Its well known that Queen Selene of Luna is very tight lipped about her life before the revolution and refuses to answer questions about it which drives Kai up the wall cuz Adri takes every opportunity to capitalize on having "raised the Queen of Luna" but Cinder is too busy to actually bother with Adri anymore.

That's when Iko steps in. Cinder may be content to stay quiet and forget Adri exists but Iko most certainly will not let that vile woman get away with everything. She openly declares in great, as the personal assistant and longtime trusted friend of Queen Selene, that Adri's stories are bogus and even adds some incriminating evidence from her data bank as proof. Iko figures she'll deal with the fallout from Cinder later except Cinder really doesn't care if Adri is being slandered all across the galactic media.

But things take an even more dramatic twist when Princess Winter Hayle-Blackburn uploads a video addressing the revealed information. She's sobbing loudly at the injustice her dear cousin suffered and how horrible it is that Cousin Selene "escaped one Levana only to go and be thrust into the arms of another". The Lunars are in an uproar. Their beloved Princess is crying and their beloved Queen had been living a life of misery even on Earth! Winter denies any maliciousness on her part with an innocent smile. She was simply so overrought with emotions at learning of how cruelly her beloved cousin was treated that she had to express them to the world.

Emperor Kaito, being such a paragon of truth and champion of honesty, decides to stir the pot further by declaring his own observations of having first met Queen Selene and admits that while he never got to see her treatment first hand, he did see the toll of that treatment on the Lunar Queen. He also opens up the very much open secret at this point: as emperor he cannot in good conscience invite the perpetrator of Queen Selene's miseries to any happy occasions thrown by the crown as they directly oppose his views on how to show gratitude for the brave young woman who saved them all. Earth is an uproar too at this point having grown fond of Cinder and especially the Eastern Commonwealth who take pride in the fact that Queen Selene grew up in their country.

Adri is besides herself. Her business keeps running, grudgingly as ever customers keep buying Linh Garan's invention. But she is a social pariah and she and Pearl are never again seen as respectable in proper society for the abuse she heaped on Cinder. Meanwhile, Peony and Linh Garan (alongside Michelle Benoit and Logan Tanner) are honored for their sacrifice by the world for helping Cinder become the revolutionary to usurp Levana.

Cinder, personally, is not entirely on board with her life being so exposed but then again it already was pretty well known to begin with. She can't help but love Kai and Iko and Winter (and the Rampion crew cuz i know they'd join in yet idk how yet) for caring about her so much they refuse to let Adri have any ounce of respect despite the parting kindness Cinder offered to her. They let her keep her hands and heart clean while defending her and she'd be lying if she said she didn't kick back with a popcorn bucket now and then after some far too stressful meetings to read some netposts by angry Lunars and Earthens about how much they hate Adri.

I've been seeing quite a few posts talking about the kaider wedding, and I want to share my headcannons.

I think they would've have a big wedding, but not as big as expected for royals. pretty similar to Cinder's coronation. just a few hundreds of people (which apparently is not much). The ceremony and the reception would be beautiful, elegant but not over the top (Kai is used to that kinda stuff, although he doesn't like it, but Cinder can't stand it).

But this wouldn't be the real wedding. I'm not saying they would elope, because I don't think this wouldn't be necessarily a secret.

It would take place maybe a day before the "big wedding" maybe in the New Beijing palace gardens, and it would be officiated by Torin (everyone thought he wouldn't approve but he was actually very supportive of the idea) and only the rampion crew would be there, they're the their closest friends after all. Everyone would be dressed quite casually for a wedding, they don't have anyone to impress or anything. Both Kai's and Cinder's vows would be very beautiful and emotional (Kai can't stop crying and Cinder would if she could). And after that they would eat dinner, everyone would give a speech and then they would spend the rest of the evening and night remembering how they all met and stories together. After dinner, Cinder and Kai would go back to their room and keep talking and thinking about a future (the one in which the two are together).

Headcanon that because Cinder lived with Adri for so long who likely didn’t let her eat very much at all and then the fact that they had to ration on the rampion, during the series Cinder was EXTREMELY skinny. Like almost looking malnourished/ed skinny. When she lived on Luna as queen she was given large meals everyday and eventually got into a healthy eating routine and got way better. When she visits Kai after a year the first thing he says (after kissing her silly) “you look so…healthy.🥹”

she was definitely not fed enough in adri’s household, maybe even malnourished. it’s not like she could walk out and buy food whenever she wanted because 1) adri is tracking what goes in and out of her bank account so too many instances where she buys a snack might raise an eyebrow and 2) if a bakery across the street from where cinder worked and watched her everyday didn’t allow her to buy bread, how many other places would accept cyborgs? unfair, right?

cinder is the sacrificial type so if cress looked a little to longing at the can of beans in cinder’s hands, she would most likely give it to cress. or anyone. it’s okay though because cinder’s dealt with hunger and it’s uncomfortableness before.

kai, however, who has been fed the perfect amounts of nutrients and has been given sweets whenever he asked since he was a toddler, doesn’t really know what to do, at first. he notices the loss of weight since their last interaction at the ball, but figures she might be trying to preserve their limited source of food. but when he complains of said lack food and she gives him her can of asparagus when she was obviously more hungry than him, he knew had to do something about this. so he does what she does and insists and her eating his food. kai would even resort to kissing her senseless and using his “charming smile” to convince her. it works. (dw he still gets enough food.)

when she becomes queen, and she realizes the chefs would probably stuff her up until she explodes, she finally starts to eat what she wants when she wants. she’s the queen. what can they do? they can’t deny her food because of her cyborg limbs and if someone looks hungry, there’s plenty enough for everyone. kai visits her and can’t be more proud.

Happy 2023, everyone!!! I started off the new year in the middle of drawing fanart, so that checks out. May the new year bring many more late-night fanart drawing sessions!

cinder isn’t a stan but she unironically listens to halsey and the chainsmokers and everyone boos her for this (thorne may have pelted her with a freeze-dried peanut or two after this confession)

thorne is in the top .001% of listeners for Logic on spotify

scarlet has an abandoned p!atd edits acc from when she was 13 and she will never tell anyone about it

wolf doesn’t know what stan twitter means. cress and iko give a thorough powerpoint presentation (during post-cress and pre-winter) explaining it and he walks away not only more confused but scared as well

kai listens to indie male emotional manipulator music (think mac demarco and joji) and he’s not a stan but he does rt those corny tweets from those fake artist impersonator accounts

winter listens to kpop (girl groups only) but every group she stans ends up being disbanded. she’s cursed

jacin doesn’t listen to music. he’s the type of person to only wear headphones (with no music playing) so people don’t talk to him but other than that unless someone is already playing it, jacin will not go out of his way to listen to music

Okay, operating under the knowledge that countries in the tlc world still use regional languages aside from Universal, we can assume that Cinder and Kai can speak to each other in a Mandarin dialect. I also think they would speak in Mandarin in front of their non-speaking friends if they want to share something more private.

Now Carswell Thorne, criminal extraordinaire, was incarcerated in New Beijing Prison for several months. Therefore it is quite possible that he picked up some very basic understanding of Mandarin--being surrounded by local inmates. At most, he can recognise a few words in a sentence and does his best to deduce the meaning. Either he tells no one of this knowledge, or he does tell his friends and they don't believe him. And this is Thorne; who can blame them?

So let's say Cinder and Kai are having a conversation in Mandarin right in front of Thorne, saying, "And Scarlet is making the cake, but it's a fruitcake and Thorne hates them, so we just won't tell him. He probably won't notice with the icing."

And Thorne just mumbles, drinking his coffee: "I am a cake connoisseur, Cinder. I will notice."

Cinder and Kai just stare at him. Gobsmacked. Thorne is very, very smug.

Remember in Cinder when Kai notices how Jacin has "a face that he had yet to see an expression on"? I imagine that he messes with Jacin just to try and get him to react. Kai starts calling him his brother-in-law, and Jacin gets fed up and asks, "how could I possibly be your brother-in-law?" Kai says, "It's so obvious! You're my wife's cousin's husband. We're related now, buddy! Technically that's only extended family, but you and I are closer than that. We're practically brothers." Everyone gets in on it, even Winter, and starts referring to those two as brothers. Jacin hates it, as per the intended effect. And yet, he never denies it.

Linh Cinder is epileptic because I say so and because you dont have your brain completely switch off due to water damage and then repaired just like that without some form of lasting damage (not to mention the various other times she had to be jump started again throughout the series mainly by Thorne).

Anyway so Cinder has epilepsy and its generalized epilepsy meaning she has no auras, just random seizures whenever her wiring and neurons are being all funky. She discovers it after experiencing absence seizures on Luna and wonders if its just her processor working over time with all the responsibilities now being heaped on her as Queen. The first month after abdicating once she's back in New Beijing she blacks out and then wakes up two hours later to a splitting headache, half the Rampion crew around her and the remaining half on their way. Her cybernetics specialist and a neurologist are there with her too when she discovers she has been diagnosed with epilepsy.

Cinder's seisures aren't frequent but she occasionally forgets to take her meds and she occasionally just hates how they make her feel. Kai is the one who always sits with her and every time she wakes up from a seizure he's sitting right next to her, without fail. He'll be doing paperwork sitting in bed but he won't leave her side and his hand is comforting on her shoulder or head so when she wakes up she knows she's safe.

Her temples hurt because they do anyway post-seizures in epilepsy but her facial muscles stretch out and clash with the metal in her skull too so they hurt a little too much and her jaw is sensitive for weeks and so either Kai or Winter (if she's available) massage her forehead and temples for her to ease the muscles and reduce extra swelling. Its soothing for Cinder who's never been touched so lovingly while she's sick before.

Its very frustrating for Cinder knowing that despite all her modifications to "fix" the disabilities caused by the burns Levana gave her, the one thing that can never be "fixed" is her brain. No amount of wiring can replace whatever issue is in her neural circuitry so it's a condition she has to live with and take medicine for. Frustration aside though, she has friends and is grateful she found a family who will take care of her if she ever happens to convulse because Adri would have done so much worse to her had Cinder discovered she was epileptic under that heinous woman's roof.

Cress is the one who understands Cinder's highs and lows when it comes to her anti-epileptics the best because she has experience with anxiety and depression. Scarlet understands the frustration and mood swings the drugs cause and tries to call Cinder every time she hears from Kai that her medicine is making her irritable. Meanwhile, Winter understands the pain of a brain that just "isn't right" and the struggle that comes with accepting the fact that something is wrong at all. She is the one who is best able to help Cinder accept the help she needs.

Wolf and Cinder sometimes just sit in silence together and it helps that they both understand what its like to have a part of you that's not bad or even wrong but just... different in a way that can be a struggle sometimes. It helps to have someone to talk to who they don't need to explain the frustration to.

Thorne tries, bless his soul, to cheer Cinder up. He takes her crown shopping or something equally ridiculous when she's in a mood because he knows the one thing she needs to not do after she has a seizure is stay trapped in her head thinking about the setbacks to her prior progress or else she'll drive herself insane.

Anyway in conclusion: Cinder's epilepsy isn't debilitating but it can be frustrating and the Rampion crew especially her loving husband Kaito come together to help ease Cinder whenever she's feeling down on herself because of the random seizures she's prone to experiencing.
