Random thought but here me out IceMav shippers of Top Gun and TGM fandom:

Over the years living with Ice and Mav being together (Wingmen, Best Friends, Lovers, Partners, Married Spouses happily) Ice encourages Mav to have as many hobbies as his heart desires whether or not it’s odd or strange (not usually hobbies others, society would think a navy military man like Mav/Pete would have or be into hobby wise.)

So Mav take up quiet hobbies of either being or all hobbies of: Knitting/Crochet/Miniature Model or Diorama making houses or model airplanes or ships/Handsewing or Hand Embroidery sewing embroidery hoop art.

Ice proudly wearing or displaying in their house’s walls or rooms Mav’s various masterpieces or finished projects. (Little Ship Dioramas or Planes displayed in Ice’s office at the base. Hoop embroidery portraits of Navy dressed Geese. Or knitted/crochet stuffed animals or blanket throws everywhere.)

All the gang of their 86 Fly Squad, Their Baby Goslings/Kids of the Dagger Squad, Bradley “Rooster” Baby Goose, Viper, Jester, Carole, and even Penny and Amelia all own a gifted craftily handmade gift made by Mav (Everyone loves/covets said item made with love and special for them by Mav/MavDad/Uncle Mav!)

Thoughts? What do you think Mav would enjoy doing as a unexpected hobby or craft besides working on repairing/fixing/building his and Ice’s bikes, cars, planes?

Something I cannot recommend enough: picking up a random skill/knowledge just because

Learn to use chopsticks.

Get your weird retro friend to teach you to drive stick.

Take a class in crystallography.

Download Duolingo just to learn Klingon.

Figure out how to contact juggle with fruit.

Maybe it comes in useful. Maybe it’s a fun party trick. Maybe it keeps the depression at bay just a little longer because it’s something to do.

Get out there and go learn something!

“Rocks?” Mitsuri asked surprised and a bit confused as she stared at the fancy glamorous metal box sitting on your lap with her half-empty bento box sat besides her, her head tilting slightly and her pale lime green eyes sparkling in wonder. You just opened up to her about your rock collecting habit over lunch

How you spend all your free time raking through the ground to find all kinds of rocks and sometimes ores you don’t have yet to add to your hefty collection. Mitsuri found it interesting and cute, for somebody like you. She has had a huge crush on you for so long, since you became a Hashira technically, and each time you talk to her, makes her almost lose her cool

“Yes! Rocks!” You chirp happily as you pick out the most pretty ore you have ever found, a large clump of shiny colourful Bismuth and offer it to Mitsuri. Her face flutters in rosy red as she squeals happily at the sight of the beautiful stone. It was clean, smooth and looked almost futuristic, she couldn’t believe it was actual a piece of the very Earth

Mitsuri hesitated to take the hardened ore from your hands for a few seconds but she eventually does, staring at it with a widening smile of joy whilst you clap your hands together happily, pleased with her reaction. She was flattered that you knew her well enough to know that she’d like this type for it’s pretty appearance

“What do you think? Do you like it?” You eagerly ask, hoping she’d respond happily as just the way she looked at it, you could tell she liked it. She drew her head up to meet eyes with that signature cheerful smile and nodded wordlessly. She didn’t need to say anything to show you that she appreciated you sharing a single part of your beloved collection with her. You’re doing this because you trust her a lot so she won’t try break that

“Really? I’m so glad!” You cheered out happily with relief overflowing, your hands dig into your fancy treasure box for some more random rocks to show to her like a joyful child showing their drawing to their parents, as Mitsuri gently placed the Bismuth on her lap, holding her hands out again in preparation for the next rock or rocks you have in mind

She didn’t mind whatever she had to see or whatever she had to hold, absolutely anything to spend more time with you and just you where she can express her sadly hidden love for you without judgment is like her dream come true

Mitsuri couldn’t let go of her smile, letting you dump the pile of rocks into her hands in a bouncy giddy, and begin happily ranting about where you found each one, as she stifled them in her palms to seperate the shiny smooth gray pieces of solid ground a bit more so you could point out each one easier

This is truly a dream for her as her lovestruck eyes lock onto you, geeking away at all the details of your adventures finding these solid ovals of minerals you cherish so dearly. She wasn’t really paying attention to any of your words, she was just admiring your pretty face and rolling internally at the excitement in your beautiful voice

She is in heaven and she doesn’t want to be brought back to the land of the living

the amount of knowledge in guns you need to have to weave that into the story is fascinating to me. I don’t even know what racking a gun is (I do however know a whole bunch about obscure physics theorems) anyway I just think it’s neat how far we go into research to write things that make sense

i'm still not sure if i got everything correct, but no one has told me otherwise fjkjsd you've definitely heard the sound of a shotgun racking if you've watched any movie with guns in it, it's that "ch-chuck" kinda sound. what i didn't know is that there's apparently a huge debate in the home defense gun community over whether you should keep your gun loaded and racked or just loaded (don't bother mentioning safeties, they'll call you slurs...). the true benefit of not racking the gun would be if a little kid gets a hold of it, they're not going to know how to rack it therefore even if they pulled the trigger they hopefully wouldn't be able to shoot anything (in MY opinion this is idiotic; the chance that the gun would go off anyway is never zero, especially if they've ever seen their parents shooting and decide to copy their movements, as kids love to do). then some people think you should wait to rack it until you know there's an intruder in your house because the mere sound of it will make them go "oh shit" and just leave. people on the other side of the argument think this is pointless and only serves to reveal your position (but uhhh fyi, in some states you're supposed to give them a verbal warning and/or try to escape before using deadly force anyway). and they say you shouldn't be owning a gun if you're not prepared to use it as anything other than a sound effect. plus i saw some people say that you need that 1 extra round in the chamber or you might run out, which.... most pump shotguns hold 3 - 5 rounds so.. it just seems excessive to me, i can't imagine shooting up to 5 times and missing all of them?? in that case dude i think you're just fucked and 1 extra try is not going to help you lmao

the time factor is the most compelling argument to me, obviously if you're asleep and you hear someone break in and enter your bedroom, your gun is useless unless it's ready to shoot right this second. but the chances of this happening are just so slim and you know what would be even more effective?? a home alarm system so no one can possibly make it to your bedroom without you knowing about it. i saw a lot of people say they keep a loaded shotgun under their bed for this scenario. i'm a paranoid fuck and i've always lived in areas with high crime rates so i get it, but that's why i keep a maglite next to me while i sleep so in the incredibly unlikely event that someone breaks in without me hearing it, i can you know. whack them. do i ever think i'll need to do that? no but it makes me feel safer than having a loaded and chambered gun with no safety on lmao that would make me feel incredibly UNsafe... also i don't want to make this too dark but while i was in high school i knew FIVE kids who died because of their parents guns, one way or another. that is just unacceptable to me. we also had a gun go off at school and even though no one was hurt, that was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life because obviously in the moment we all heard a gunshot and thought it was an intentional school shooting. so anyway, me and guns do not get along but it's fascinating to research

but yeah as you can see i fell down the rabbit hole!! the things you do for writing jfksjds i did not need to go that far with it, but it was interesting!

This started off as a 6x6 beam of ash, that I turned into this vase. Originally had a bit more of a lip at the top but I delved too deep and it cracked so I shortened it.
