I'm rewatching Blue Eye Samurai and this scene reminded me why I don't trust Taigen so far. His attitude in this scene very much tells that Taigen doesn't give a fuck about Akemi's very earnest love and just wants the fame that comes with marrying her. This would also explain why he is so comfortable abandoning Akemi just to find Mizu and have his revenge, despite her pleas to remain with her.

I think he has a bit of a change of heart at the end of the series not because he realizes he loves her but because he's gone through so much that now he too wishes to have a peaceful life. But by that point, Akemi is fixated on becoming great, and honestly I don't judge her decision to leave Taigen behind at all.

Z-O-M-B-I-E-S is honestly great at showing how there can be conflict in a movie without the main romantic relationship having to deal with lies and betrayal and the two people hating each other for most of the movie. Zed and Addison have one little fight and I wouldn't even call that a relationship fight and that's it. Other than that they care for each other, are always cute and sweet and don't have to deal with miscommunication because they talk to each other and have a healthy relationship and I love that so much♡

A funny, kinda annoying thing I see a lot as someone who’s read my fair share of m/m fanfic is watching women (cuz 99.9% of the writers tend to be women) trying to figure out how guys talk to each other and just making them like. Really gross and weirdly misogynistic for the sake of “authenticity” in male interactions akdjks.
