Ovid is delighted that some fellow owls have recently been hanging out in our neighborhood — take a listen and learn some Barred Owl facts!
Image descriptions are in the alt text. Video description is below the readmore.
Video description: a squishmallow bigfoot and squishmallow owl on a windowsill next to a gray and white cat, who peers out into the darkness of night as owls call outside. Text above the video reads “Ranger Ovid presents: Barred Owls Calls & Facts” with a photo of a barred owl to the right. This owl is light brown and white with close set eyes in a round face. As the video plays, speech bubbles pop up occasionally: the bigfoot says “volume up!” The keychain owl says “sounds like its saying…” to which the barred owl replies “who cooks for you all?” The cat asks “who is making all that noise?” The keychain owl says “barred owls are informally called eight-hooters — bet you can guess why!” / end video description.
Being a toku fan with only a vague tangential interest in Power Rangers has been wild lately. It's like having loud neighbours who are constantly arguing about the state of their grand plans for garden renovations, while I'm just sat here on my patio with coffee and a biscuit wondering if they're going to bother repairing our one adjoining fence that's getting a bit wobbly.
i don't know all the other reasons people get mad at simon bennett's twitter every week but im generally inclined to cut him some slack bc he produced the only season of power rangers i've cared about in over a decade and made it a priority to introduce the first canonically queer ranger to the main show. there are worse people to be running this show
I was obsessed with power rangers as a kid and now as an adult, that rabbit hole would be deeper due to having more knowledge about it being a Japanese property. I can’t go back man.
Large casts and interesting robot designs and costumes are my weakness.
Kamen Rider
It’s basically Super Sentai (minus the giant robots) with a bug theme.
Touhou Project
Again, large casts (especially them all being women).
The fandom basically keeping the franchise afloat with aus and fanon, makes it really appealing to me. It’s basically Japanese undertale and I was an undertale kid.
Any MMO
There are actual studies that say World of Warcraft is one of most addicting games and I have an addictive personality.
Animal Jam has shown me I would spend more time in an MMO than in real life.
I’m already a final fantasy fan and ff14 would appeal to me but I know I would not have any irl friends if I started playing this.
And as I’ve said before, large casts.
Warhammer
Wow it has a large cast, who would’ve thunk it?
The deep lore would have me in its tight grip.
I would waste so much money buying those miniatures.
Listen, I’m already obsessed with fire emblem, digimon, bionicle, megami tensei, pokemon, and transformers, I can’t have more things occupying my brain space.
Went on a camping trip down to south Florida, starting in the everglades
We were looking for snakes and American crocodiles, but we did find this day moth and tree snail
Plus a couple nocturnal critters settling down for a nice days sleep
Lots of high quality birds in the swamp
Saw frigate birds in the Dry Tortugas, but they mostly hung motionless and effortlessly high in the air like low poly videogame background birds
Had to flee back north early ahead of Nikole. Managed to catch a glimpse of this bark anole when we stopped for breakfast, but all the iguanas were hiding.
Tons of introduced rock agamas calling this gas station home, and a nearby rooster hung out with a flock of grackles. Was hoping to see more exotic reptiles around Miami, but perhaps another time.
I’m just making a post to thank everyone who participated in the gathering this year and provided us with all the creative works we’ve had the privilege of seeing this month. The art, writing, and other creative posts have been beautiful, humorous, inspiring, and so so lovely to read. I didn’t participate too much this month but getting to be a part of it every year and getting to watch the beautiful people in this fandom create what they love is an incredible experience. Thank you everyone for being the most authentic people you can be and for making this community feel so welcoming and loving
Leon knows all about the events of Shadows of Almia, thanks to his father's longtime connections in Vientown and career as a Ranger in its base. Luckily Arthur was kept safe from the more climactic showdowns, but he's still seen his fair share of Gigaremos, their variants, and the devastating effects they had over pokemon wellbeing.
Leon, by extension, was taught to recognise the machines and the common behaviours of a mind-controlled pokemon, just in case Gigaremos ever tried to get a foothold in Galar.
