March of the Machine: Eldraine and Innistrad.
I'm a big big big fan of the Innistrad story. Like, super big. Gissa and Geralf are always fun perspectives and this time was no different. I also liked the art shown. Specifically this one:

Because A) Phyrexian Cathars are cool, and B) because it's a Phyrexian of the Machine orthodoxy that has style. The belts, cape, and prayer tags are great additions.
As for Eldraine, it was fine. I'm not a fan of Rankle, (and he has terrible taste, I mean, he falls for her then he sees this:

and changes his mind? Pathetic.) But I do think that the love-potion rain into a giant chasm was a good idea. Still a horrendous lack of Urabrask, especially with Ayara's new Furnace Queen epithet.

honestly it was a red flag when bbc sherlock went “well obviously the word written in blood isn’t the german word for revenge, it’s clearly the beginning of the name ‘rachel’, what absolute idiot would fail to see that” when in the original novel it is, in fact, the german word for revenge, which sherlock points out gleefully to a roomful of policemen who all figure it’s the beginning of the name ‘rachel.’
and by red flag I mean it was a clear sign that the adaptation was trying to one-up the source material, instead of engaging with it with love.

man, DE fic piss me off a little sometimes asdfgk. i think u guys are greatly overestimating how much police can or are willing to do, and what cases they are incentivized to actually pursue.
when my mom's apartment was broken into a year ago, her next door neighbor literally got one of the guys on camera, and the police basically shrugged and went "sorry! nothing we can do!". when one of the men broke in again a week later, while my sister was home alone, when she could have been attacked, when she saw the guy face to face, again they were like "sorry! nothing we can do!"
which isn't to say i think they should have gone all supercop to solve the case. what the fuck are they gonna do, manhunt the guys across the city based on grainy camera footage? what would my mom and sister even gain from that, what would the community gain from that, having cops hovering around and then maybe throwing two poor guys from the neighborhood into prison? it's just reality that there's only so few resources to solve these things, so many dead ends, and more harm than benefit to the socioeconomic circumstance of the area.
it's just kind of irksome seeing fic casually talk about all the crimes precinct 41 and C-wing are pursuing and solving, when in reality most probably wouldn't even reach their desks before they were waved away as a dead case. or if they did reach their unit, still wouldn't be solved because it's simply too big of a gamble of time and resources. according to pew research center, in the US, about 45% of violent crime cases are solved each year, and only about 18% of property crime. and that's only the solve rate for the reported cases. it is in fact copaganda and simply inaccurate to portray the police as though they make a significant impact on crime, when more than half the time they're going, "sorry! nothing we can do!" 👍

My initial impression when I watched Eclipse for the first time (and what I still believe) is that Stella knew full well that Ray didn't humilate himself on purpose in the bank when they were kids. I always read it as Stella knowing how embarrased and ashamed Ray would feel for having wet himself, and instead of trying to console him and tell him that it was okay, she let him be the hero instead. Because even though in Ray's memory he thought that he was being 'John Lennon, James Bond, Joe Namath, all rolled into one', I don't think Stella actually fell in love with an illusion at all. Like Fraser said, 'I am willing to gamble that Stella looked beyond that one incident and saw the whole person'. I think she always saw Ray for who he really was, but Ray's own insecurities about himself made him believe that she had to be with him based on a lie. I think the person who doesn't see Ray clearly is Ray himself. He has such a low sense of himself that he can't imagine her falling for anything but a con. He can't imagine that Stella simply fell in love with little Ray Kowalski, because who the hell is even is that? He's convinced himself that he's been playing the part of 'the hero' all these years that he doesn't really see that he has actually become one. The person who recieved all those citations that Fraser recounts wasn't a lie or a con, it was Ray Kowalski, a good policeman, someone who one would be proud to call a partner and a friend. In my opinion Ray's biggest con was conning himself into believing he isn't good enough just the way he is.

feliciafancybottom replied to your post "It never ceases to amaze me that despite…"
What I don't get is that since they are both such outspoken LGBTQI+ allies, why people would think they'd spend all these years essentially making a joke out out of it. Like, "Yeah we're allies, unless you're talking bisexual polyamory. That's the one exception. In that case we're going to take the piss out of it for 5 years for absolutely no reason! It's what the fans would want" How does that make sense? It's as if it's alright for them to be allies as long as they're only paying lip service. The minute it seems as though they may actually be part of the community themselves, well that's a bit "icky".
@feliciafancybottom Exactly this. What has been noticeable to me is that Michael and David have been doing this for the past five years, but apart from a small group of us, no one seemed to take notice until Georgia and Anna got on board. Like suddenly there was "permission" to talk about shipping Michael and David because Georgia and AL were calling each other "wife," and the thought of two young, blonde women flirting with each other was immediately viewed as more acceptable than two middle-aged men.
Yet despite this, there is still a reluctance--a sense of disgust, even--at the thought of Michael and David actually being in love/having anything other than a platonic relationship. But as you said, this has been going on for five years, and there is no reason for Michael and David to keep doing this just to show what big LGBTQ+ allies they are. It's also long past the point where any of this would make sense as fan service or something being done solely to promote a project.
Taking all of this together, I am downright baffled at people repeatedly stopping short of realizing Michael and David might also be part of the community, and even reviling them for it. I'm not sure what it says about the fandom for a show where the main characters exist outside of preconceived boxes related to gender and sexuality if the worst thing Michael and David can do is fall in love with each other, but I do know that I don't like it...

opinions on generative images aside, every time i see this stupid advert on reddit i get so embarrassed on behalf of whomever at adobe thought this malformed beast with a broken beak and worm toes and disappearing tail was actually good enough to be an example of their tool
