Just as a reminder you can write entire pieces of JUST exploratory and speculation for your own WIP or story and they don't have to go anywhere. You are not beholden to a character arc or a rising and falling action with a conclusion. Sometimes you just wanna write a side scene with some characters doing some things. Or you need to just need to write what would amount to an academic paper about a certain landscape in your story. Like that's also fine.

Also these things don't need endings. When you finish them they're done. Even if it's in the 'middle' of something. You got out the part you wanted and now you're done and you satisfied the plot bunny demanding blood sacrifice of you writing that specific scene right now. Congrats you're done now.

Don't let the editor in your mind steal your joy of writing your silly little story. The mind editor is the thief of joy.

you ever think about the fact that Hunters probably just do standing front flips for fun/when they're bored?

Gotta wait while their Warlock friend is doing something at the Vault and is INCAPABLE of standing still. Warlock nearly gives themselves whiplash when out of nowhere the Hunter does a full standing front flip just because if they don't move they'll just DIE. They don't even mention that it's weird. Yeah man I just did a flip? That's not weird. It's just a flip man be fucking cool.

Hunters also incapable of sitting on chairs properly. Not in a gay/bi way but just... why sit on seat when you can sit on the back and put feet on seat? Or always leaning back on 1-2 legs. Or sitting cross-legged on a chair you 1000% were not supposed to be able to sit cross legged on. And regardless of gender ever Hunter 'manspreads', legs open, taking up as much space as humanly possible, attention whore behavior.

I just fixed a story beat that I didn't know was broken until I fixed it. And as soon as I did I went oh! Everything flows so much better and this makes so much more sense!

Is it hard taking care of Dream? I can imagine he’s full of energy when he’s not tired

Dream is pretty well-mannered. Sure, he does the things a 7 year old does-like scream and cry over small bugs, laugh and shriek incessantly, and get every single article of his clothes dirty on a daily basis. He needs snacks throughout the day, needs a full three meals, and thinks he's above spinach... but not eating things off the ground. Insists on chewing on everything at some point, including his cape, which gets remarkably dirty and don't chew on that Dream, you'll get sick. Nightmare was sure he didn't have a teething phase when he was Dream's age, but then again, several centuries will make it hard to recall things. Eventually he just gets Dream something safe to gnaw on that he can clean for him.

Dream's clumsy, so he trips a lot and gets hurt often. Though he insists that he's a Big Boy and Guardian of Positivity (a title that grows weaker with every proclamation) he still needs a kiss on his boo-boo and a "pain, pain, fly away" to feel better. And he's prone to just catching the most random coughs and colds, because the village doesn't have a standard of sanitization or cleanliness, because it's damn near medieval out here. Nightmare wants to shake everyone into washing their hands with soap, just for his son's brother's sake.

All in all, he's about the regular maintenance and hassle and normal kid is. He's got unending amounts of energy that he needs to go run out, falls over his own two feet, and cries over trampling flowers. He's worth every second of tears and shrieking and endless questions.

And the several kittens that Nightmare now has to take care of.

i really like the emphasis monster high puts on not stigmatizing being abnormal or weird. i mean, i know it’s a kids show and a lot of the point is to teach kids to accept others and themselves, but a lot of other shows approach it from the “you’re not a freak or a monster, you’re perfect just the way you are” angle. instead, monster high approaches it from the “you might be a freak or a monster AND you’re perfect just the way you are” angle. it’s something i really wish i was told as a kid, because the truth is that sometimes people are freaks. sometimes it isn’t a matter of “i feel like i don’t fit in,” sometimes it’s just “my brain works differently than those around me” or “i am fundamentally not like everyone else”. saying “actually, you ARE normal” just doesn’t apply there, because you’ll always know you aren’t- you’ll know these messages aren’t meant for you. but monster high is, because it tells you that “yes, sometimes you will be a monster and a freak AND that’s not a bad thing- in fact it’s a good thing. you don’t need to change who you are because you’re perfect just the way you are- freaky flaws and all.”

Related to the previous ask Ishmarik is a creature of the Deeprealm, a dreamworld parallel to our reality where time and space do not move linearly and things are quite literally the stuff of dreams.

Ishmarik is a star harvester. Tho he often wears the guise of a dragon he is not. He is more a thing of smoke and shadow. Some non natives have likened him to a Shade being but he's nothing of the sort.

As stars die Ishmarik goes and collects them in his net. He then brings them back to the star nursery where the star gods raise new baby stars. Ishmarik is a very quiet creature who mostly keeps to himself. He's quite fond of baby stars too. Those not native to the Deeprealm see him as a star eater or reaper of sorts. And perhaps he is the later but he certainly isn't the former. The dying stars go with him willingly, knowing their dust and energy will be used to make new stars and Ishmarik himself is a wholly benevolent creature who won't hurt anyone. It's unsure if he could even if he tried because to do so is not in his nature.

Sometimes the star gods can get him to linger a while at the nursery. They're as close as he has to 'friends' but he wouldn't call them that himself. But the star gods are appreciative of what he does as without him their nursery would be empty and there would be no more stars.
