Poster Advertising Herman Miller’s ‘Modular Sofa Group’ Seating Range by Ray Wilkes. Dated 1976.
“Nicknamed the Chiclet, after the candy-coated gum, this modular sofa group’s components could be taken apart, rearranged, interspersed with table pieces, and screwed back together using a simple Allen wrench. In this poster, the rainbow of colors serves as a shorthand for consumer choice and customization.”

A new album from Kahil El’Zabar’s Ethnic Heritage Ensemble today as well - "Open Me, A Higher Consciousness of Sound and Spirit"
This is the new offering from Kahil El’Zabar and his Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, in conjunction with the legendary group’s 50th anniversary, Open Me, A Higher Consciousness of Sound and Spirit. Open Me is a joyous honoring of portent new directions of the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble; it’s a visionary journey into deep roots and future routes, channeling traditions old and new. It mixes El’Zabar’s original compositions with timeless classics by Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, and Eugene McDaniels. Thus, the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble continues affirming their indelible, half-century presence within the continuum of Great Black Music.  Open Me, El’Zabar’s sixth collaboration with Spiritmuse in five years, marks another entry in a run of critically acclaimed recordings that stretch back to the first EHE recording in 1981. The storied multi-percussionist, composer, fashion designer, and former Chair of the Association of Creative Musicians (AACM) is in what might be the most productive form of his career, and now in his seventies, shows no signs of slowing down. Few creative music units can boast such longevity, and fewer still are touring as energetically and recording with the verve of the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble.  The EHE was founded by El’Zabar in 1974 originally as a quintet, but was soon paired down to its classic form — a trio, featuring El’Zabar on multi-percussion and voice, plus two horns. It was an unusual format, even by the standards of the outward-bound musicians of the AACM: “Some people literally laughed at our unorthodox instrumentation and approach. We were considered even stranger than most AACM bands at the time. I knew in my heart though that that this band had legs, and that my concept was based on logic as it pertains to the history of Great Black Music, i.e. a strong rhythmic foundation, innovative harmonics and counterpoint, well-balanced interplay and cacophony amongst the players, strong individual soloist, highly developed and studied ensemble dynamics, an in-depth grasp of music history, originality, fearlessness, and deep spirituality.” With El’Zabar at the helm, the band’s line-up has always been open to changes, and over the years the EHE has welcomed dozens of revered musicians including Light Henry Huff, Kalaparusha Maurice Macintyre, Joseph Bowie, Hamiett Bluiett, and Craig Harris. The current line-up has been consolidated over two decades — trumpeter Corey Wilkes entered the circle twenty years ago, while baritone sax player Alex Harding joined seven years ago, after having played with El’Zabar since the early 2000s in groups such as Joseph Bowie’s Defunkt.  For Open Me, El’Zabar has chosen to push the sound of the EHE in a new direction by adding string instruments — cello, played by Ishmael Ali, and violin/viola played by James Sanders. The addition of strings opens new textural resonances and timbral dimensions in the Ensemble’s sound, linking the work to the tradition of improvising violin and cello from Ray Nance to Billy Bang, Leroy Jenkins, and Abdul Wadud.  Open Me contains a mixture of originals, including some El’Zabar evergreens such as “Barundi,” “Hang Tuff,” “Ornette,” and “Great Black Music” (often attributed to the Art Ensemble of Chicago but is, in fact,  an El’Zabar composition). There are also numbers drawn from the modern tradition, which El’Zabar uniquely arranges, including a contemplative interpretation of Miles Davis’ “All Blues.” As a milestone anniversary celebration and a statement of future intent, Open Me effortlessly carries El’Zabar’s healing vision of Higher Consciousness of Sound and Spirit.   All compositions by Kahil El’Zabar except tracks ‘All Blues’ by Miles Davis, ‘He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands’ spiritual folk by Unknown, ‘Passion Dance’ by McCoy Tyner and ‘Compared to What’ by Gene McDaniels All arrangements by Kahil El’Zabar Tapestry and Art Direction by Nep Sidhu

UNSEEN BULLWORTH HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
because i think they all deserve something and this is mostly for the year after the game 🤷‍♀️
Bullies:
based on troy dressing up as edna, i think that the rest of them would have coordinated other teachers based on pulling straws and getting to pick from there. they looked something like this:
russell: dr crabblesnitch
trent: mr galloway
tom: neil
wade: mr slawter
ethan: mr hattrick
davis: ms phillips (he got the shortest straw)
Nerds:
let’s face it. besides thad, donald and beatrice (who was a scientist) they were all their G&G characters. they went all out with props
Greasers:
with vance being a pirate, i feel like the rest of the greasers put time periods into a hat and pulled them out at random, there were too few that they could think of though so lucky put a pumpkin on his head. the results were:
johnny: 1500s king (he asked lola to be the queen)
peanut: viking
norton: middle ages knight
ricky: highway man
lefty: victorian chimney sweep
Preps:
obviously pinky was the princess and parker was a vampire so i imagine the others were the same. derby, gord and justin were princes whilst bryce, bif, tad and chad were vampires. chad even dressed chester in a bat costume
Jocks:
horror. movie. villains. damon and casey were the only exceptions with them being an astronaut and demon
ted: ghostface
bo: jason voorhees
dan: hannibal lecter
kirby: was originally john kramer but is now the jigsaw puppet because he makes the wheelchair look like the bicycle - it’s so cool
mandy: annie wilkes
luis: michael myers
juri: freddy krueger
Non-clique:
there’s no backstory behind them really, there all just a general array but ray, lance, christy and ivan all teamed together to do a DC comics theme
eunice: fairy princess (similar to the christmas one)
sheldon: mummy (with pedro)
karen, gloria and melody: the powerpuff girls
lance: joker
ray: oswald cobblepot
christy: cat woman
ivan: batman
constantinos: nothing. he hates halloween and stayed in his dorm all night

if you were to write for a group of women slashers as counterparts to our main group of slashers, who would you include and why? What sort of shenanigans do you think they would get up to?
Well hello, hello, you~
God this is such a fun question! My apologies it has taken me so long to get to answering this! I answer this under the thought of WHAT IF: Instead of our murder men landing in Jennifer's house, what if we got the murder women instead? House of Horrors: Female Cast! -Tiffany Valentine -Glen/Glenda -Jennifer Check -Carrie White -Annie Wilkes -Leech Woman -Maybe the shadow woman from Lights Out? I do feel as though there are more male slashers than female ones, and especially when it comes to being enjoyable and memorable. (Mary Shaw is another underrated one) Though these I've chosen, I have done so because they have made the biggest impression on me. Reasons/Extra Info: -Tiffany: Tiffany would be dealing with her struggles of being a single mom with violent tendencies. Wanting the best for her babies and harboring a personal bitterness over her ex husband Chucky the Killer Doll.
-Glen/Glenda: I figure the twins come as a package deal. They would definitely befriend Alysson, and I can imagine some dark moments where the children bond. (all thanks to the more violent of the Ray children)
-Jennifer: Hot demon best friend? What more could a girl want? I would definitely do a running gag of the two Jennifers having to get their names sorted, too. Men in the neighborhood would definitely not be safe.
-Carrie: Come on, I have to have her! She's the sweetest! And she deserves the world. I think Carrie and Jennifer would get along swimmingly. Lots of girl time and cozy reading. Carrie would even get involved with Riley's friend group, from Jennifer Caddie insisting for her to, in order to have fun and make friends.
-Annie: More of the protective mother figure of the grouping. Would certainly be the caretaker, rather than Jennifer. Is definitely the most eager and capable to take care of shit and hide a body should she need to. (I think her and Tiffany would butt heads and have a "hate"/annoying-each-other kind of dynamic)
-Leech Woman: I love the Puppet Master Dolls. And this little cutie would cause some fair amount of chaos. Oh the leeches! There would be leeches for sure. Always finding herself in places she shouldn't be. (small enough to get caught and stuck places)
-Shadow Woman: I do find her very fascinating. Absolutely the most wild of the household. Would scare the shit out of Jennifer by crouching like a gargoyle at the foot of her bed. Would always follow and keep an eye on her too. (little does Jennifer know) Not the easiest to talk to and get to know, but very loyal once her guard gets let down. I know it's not the precise number to fit, but these female slashers are the ones I enjoy the most and could most realistically see myself doing. Hopefully you enjoyed this answer! <3
Thank you so much for your question, Oddity!

My current, loose and not that interesting goal for this year is to really work on the books I have current access to right now... at the start of this year. Because it's a lot XD This means books currently favorite in Scribd, on my StoryGraph 'to read' pile, or a book I currently own on my shelves. Main goal is at least one of these a month.
For my own personal reference, I'm putting a list of such books below to hold myself accountable.
Edit: Now the end of 2023, and here's a breakdown of my goal to read books I already had access to at the start of 2023:
I didn't read one a month per se, but I got more than 12 done, so I call this a win. These books are:
-Can't Spell Treason Without Tea - Rebecca Thorn -The City Beautiful - Aden Polydoros -Finn Mac Cool - Morgan Llewlyn -The First Sister by Linden A Lewis (proceeded by the other two in the series) -Get a Life, Chloe Brown - Talia Hibbert -The Glass Castle - Jeannette Walls -Haunted Wisconsin - Michael Norman & Beth Scott -Her Majesty's Royal Coven - Juno Dawson -I Await the Devil's Coming - Mary McClane -The Kraken's Sacrifice - Katee Robert -Lavinia - Ursula K Le Guin -Love Her or Lose Her - Tessa Bailey -Mistress of the Art of Death - Ariana Franklin -Nevada - Imogen Binnie -The Prince - Niccolo Machiavelli -Rosemary and Rue - Seanan McGuire -The Ruins - Scott Smith -The Song of Achilles - Madeline Miller -Sarah - J.T. LeRoy -Vampire Forensics - Mark Collins Jenkins -What Happened to You? - Oprah Winfrey -The Witch King - H. E. Edgmon -The Woman in White - Wilkie Collins
The books I did not get around to reading from this list are as follows: Black Water Sister by Zen Cho; Blood Scion by Deborah Falaye (o); The Book of M by Peng Shepard (o); Charity and Sylvia by Rachel Hope Cleves (o); The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (a); The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey (s); Fallen by Lauren Kate (o); Fanny Hill by John Cleland (o); Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender (s); The Glass Woman by Caroline Lea (s); The Great Hunger by Cecil Woodham-Smith (o); Helping Her Get Free by Susan Brewster (o); The Impossible Girl by Lydia Kang (s); Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (o); The Merry Spinster by Daniel Lavery (o); On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong (o); The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang (s); Radiance by Grace Draven (a); Watching the Tree by Adeline Yen Mah (o); The Willows by Algernon Blackwood (s); Wings of Fire (o); Witches Steeped in Gold by Clannon Smart (o); The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid (s)
23/46 Whoa! That's exactly 50% of the books I had on my list! That's pretty cool! All in all, I consider this 2023 goal successfully done!

Hey!
As a queer young adult tired of only getting YA books with teenage/highschooler characters am looking for books that have adult trans male (or nonbinary nblm) mlm (especially gay) main characters. Especially characters that are above 20yo but at this point I’ll take any character that isn’t a highschooler. (I only know about Coffe Boy by Austin Chang which I think has an adult character?)
Also, are there any books where the main character (of any age) is transmasc (especially transmasc and mlm) but still living as their agab / “in girl mode” / people around them think they are a girl and they come out during the book?
Well Coffee Boy by Austin Chant is everything you're looking for, so if you haven't read that, do! Also Long Macchiatos and Monsters by Alison Evans is a personal fave New Adult-ish book with a genderqueer MC and transmasc LI, but also all of these (which can be found here: https://lgbtqreads.com/representation/gender-identity/) have transmasc adult MCs - if you specifically want m/m romance, start with Jay Northcote or Matthew Metzger.
Names for the Dawn by C.L. Beaumont (Amz)
Sunset Springs by Kacen Callender
Coffee Boy by Austin Chant
Peter Darling by Austin Chant
Caroline’s Heart by Austin Chant
Crush by L. Dreamer
Long Macchiatos and Monsters by Alison Evans (LI)
Dead Collections by Isaac Fellman
The Thirty Names of Night by Zeyn Joukhadar
Slow Moves by Elliot Junkyard (Amz)
Depart, Depart! by Sim Kern
What it Looks Like by Matthew J. Metzger
Second Chance by Jay Northcote
Starting from Scratch by Jay Northcote
Documenting Light by EE Ottoman
A Matter of Disagreement by EE Ottoman
The Doctor’s Discretion by EE Ottoman
The Craft of Love by EE Ottoman
The Longest Night by EE Ottoman
The Companion by EE Ottoman
The Queer and the Restless by Kris Ripper
Confessions of the Fox by Jordy Rosenberg
“Small Changes Over Long Periods of Time” by K.M. Szpara
Your Heart Will Grow by Chace Verity
Bad Boy by Elliot Wake
Their Troublesome Crush by Xan West
All the White Spaces by Ally Wilkes (Historical)
Reverb by Anna Zabo
The Right Thing to Do at the Time by Dov Zeller
Cat’s Got Your Heart by Jem Zero
As for characters who come out as transmasc during the book, check out Man O' War by Cory McCarthy and Between Perfect and Real by Ray Stoeve - they're both YA, but the McCarthy in particular spans a long stretch (including college) and I think crosses over for adult readers nicely.

im so thrilled to meet another clutch fan bc ive always been the one introducing my friends to clutch my first and favourite one that was shown to me first is electric worry, but x-ray vision and a quick death in texas are my other top 3 total. what are your favourite clutch songs?
OH electric worry is the song of all time. i first heard it in one of the left 4 dead 2 teasers and i was fucking SOLD
i only really recently started listening to more bc i realized that their music is basically just "hey heres a guy we put in a situation" and a lot of times that situation is either southern antics or sci-fi dude on the lam. very much wizard music overall.
anyway A Shogun Named Marcus, Wishbone, Careful With That Mic, I Have the Body of John Wilkes Booth, The Regulator, and their cover of Fortunate Son are all S Tier imo

quincy nichols || headcanons
Tumblr media
His mother is still on the commune they joined when Quincy was six. It’s one of those that urge you to give up all money and worldly possession to share with the cult, aka Cherune Talray, aka Bobby Ray Wilkes, the creepy leader. At least when his sister was born, she realized it wasn’t exactly a safe place for them. That or that there was only a matter of time before Quincy was old enough to be a proper threat to Talray or for his sister to be competition for her. It’s a toss up really.
Quincy has been atheist a good chunk of his teens/twenties. After hitting as low as he could go, he began to rediscover spirituality and leans toward pantheism. He has an altar in the woods that he frequents. It’s a hike from his place/town and is next to a little babbling brook. He’ll meditate there or just– talk. To himself, nature, the universe, whatever. It’s a comforting outlet for him.
It’s also a good place to hunt mushrooms. Which is just something he picked up to kill time.
He always has a bottle of hot sauce on him or nearby for emergencies.
Other things he keeps on him include an old instant camera. It’s usually in his pack. In his wallet is a phone number and address. It’s his kid’s. He’s never called it.
He paints, much like his mother used to. He dabbles in whatever mediums he has access to, but prefers oil. He picked it up as a for of therapy/way to get out emotions in relation to his mother and it just stuck.
He’s good with numbers and could likely really do something with that. But right now, he’s fine just holding down his job at the Dirty Crate and acting as a bookie and/or gambling at get-togethers around town.
He moved to Cypress Falls with his sister a year or two ago. for a fresh start. it's not been bad so far.
Drives a 1969 black camaro that he fixed. He's currently working on a rebuilding a bike, but honestly he isn't sure he'll ever get it on the road.
he prefers older partners. more specifically unavailable older partners. people with partners or just don't want a relationship in general. he's been with a range of people his age and younger and it just-- it doesn't work out. anyone too needy and immature or looking for something serious is not for him.
flings and one night stand are his normal though he doesn't fuck around a lot. he can go extended periods of time simply enjoying his own 'company' both in the platonic and sexual sense.
he prefers tea to coffee. he also makes his own shroom tea which he'll partake in when he's doing whatever he does in the woods. Or major social events.
he loves bollywood movies, songs, dances, the whole shebang. it's so over the top and he's honestly not bad at some of the dances? during all the shit with the trust fund crew, he met and became really good friends with a guy named Frosty, aka Masud. He had tips and Quince might've already been a bit tipsy. They got high on shrooms, Masud introduced him to them and spent they night dancing and rambling and just having a good time. In fact, that night help the guy get comfortable enough to ask 'woo' his betrothed the way he wanted/be himself. He accredits Quincy with helping him cross that hurdle and make a real connection with his fiancee.
He has a thirteen year old daughter named Bryony. She lives about two or three hours away and he send money when he can, but that's only a recent development. There been zero contact actual contact with her and he's only seen her in person once. She was three and having a disgustingly glittery tea party. He remembers all her stuffed animals had on tiny party hats, but that's about it. he has her number in his wallet, but he's never called it.
- more will be added later -

My Ghost OC, Lucy Wilkes. She’s the local LVN, Bibliophile, and Ghoul enthusiast. Normally a ray of sunshine, but is cranky rn.
What is she begrudgingly looking up? Something she doesn’t want to think about. Probably what it’ll actually take to become a sibling of sin... Or, got told by someone she needs to get out more.
