AGH! SNEK! A SNEK! AWOOOOO IT'S A SNEEEEEEK!

ahem

This is the thrai, most dangerous danger noodle in Tsyllaes, and its shape is therefore based off an eastern brown snake because it's always bugged me that the deadliest snake in the world (depending on your metric) is just… brown… so Tsyllaes gets one that's goooooooold with six brown bands around its neck.

They're deadly because of just about every factor. They like to hide out the heat of the day in places where people are likely to find them (like poor iccle Ruyn's toy box) and, while they're more likely to quietly piss off if they're disturbed, they're definitely the snake most likely to rear up, like that one up there, and bite just so they can get away. They're not stupid, they know they can't actually take on a creature as large as a human, but they know they can hold off the human long enough to escape.

Their bite, of course, is just the worst. One bite causes the victim's throat to close over so they start choking while their blood very quickly starts turning to stringy clotted jelly. The site of the wound swells and turns red while the rest of the skin blotches with red, purple and yellow and the eyes cloud over with yellow. The victim is unconscious within a few minutes and dead in twenty.

Thrais occupy a special place in Raykinian culture, something to be respected, a reminder of how deadly Aeia's desert can be, even in the city, and you have to be constantly vigilant living in her land. She leaves you under no illusions as to whose world this is. The Golden Thrai, Ni-Yana's richest pub, is named after it because its booze is Potent and Deadly.

I love birds of prey, especially eagles, and especially wedge-tailed eagles. Wedgies themselves exist in Tsyllaes, of course, and these are the two extra eagles I've created :D

The star-tailed eagle just came from the name, idk where the name came from but there it is. I made it up for the Small World piece I did back in the day and haven't actually used it anywhere in the story, but it's cool. Having a bestiary to draw on is fun :D Also I had fun with its flight feathers.

The geya has been around almost as long as the yrae, and exists purely as something for people to confuse with an yrae. Most people believe this is what Yan saw back in the day, not an yrae. It's basically a blue eagle, but compared with an yrae it's pretty grey and dull. Side note, I have no idea what the feathers on the left are doing. I drew my ref-eagle, lined it, then started colouring and went '…why does it look like the tail feathers are in front of the wing feathers? Are those tail feathers? Are they back wing feathers? WHO KNOWS?' So I made it up and decided the far left ones are the back wing, so. Yay.

Both are unique to Raykin, living right out into the desert and eating anything they can see. Star-tailed eagles are more common closer to the Ra-Lin while the geya dominates the desert proper.

I don't really have any ideas on these guys' lifestyles so just go with a wedgie until they come up in-story and I decide to do something different with them.

I was being silly earlier and looking at other spiderkin posts [btw if ur spiderkin pls interact, I love meeting other little arachnids <3 /nf] and I came across a post of someone who was talking about how they thought they were just spider-hearted but as they went on they realized they might be spider kin.

Im not gonna go into full detail about what they said but basically it was something along the lines of feeling an immense relation to and having intense empathy towards spiders. They mentioned that they had once jokingly said to a coworker that they were a spider, and when they said that they go on to say that it felt like saying their own name.

I relate to this A LOT, and I feel like it’s a big part of what being otherkin feels like to me. When I was younger I used to say I was an animal a lot. Now, before I continue I’d like to say this is NOT me saying that therianthropy is just a kid thing that people grow out of. I am just saying that in my personal experience as a [younger] kid this is how I felt it and to this day I still do.

It’s even more so now that when I jokingly call myself a cryptid or a spider it just feels like I’m saying what I am. In my mind I don’t have the body of a human, I think in third person and when I do it’s always been to where I am not a human but some sort of creature [in most cases I’m a coyote, Zoroark, or spider].

As I am writing this I kind of realize that being spiderkin makes a lot of sense. When I was younger I pretended to not like spiders because everyone I knew hated them and thought they were gross[meanwhile in my room I would just sort of look at the cobweb in the corner of my room and waited to see who was living there], I had always felt really different and I didn’t think I fit in at all.

Fast forward to now where I’m starting to develop and get a hold of who I am, it makes a lot more sense now. Not just with being spiderkin but also being owl, coyote, cryptid, Pokemon, etc kin.

but yeah, erm I don’t know how to end this but remember u are a valid otherkin if u feel the way u do <333 the only validation for your kin is from YOU, if anyone hates then point me their way and I’ll bite them /j

The dewdrop snake hunts by hiding at the bottom of a puddle of water and covering itself with sand, then strikes when something comes to have a drink. They tend to ignore anything too big to eat.

I really shoulda put all the snakes in one post, they're very quick and I've made several of them so you end up with snek spam. Ah well.
