Billy didn't like this at all. Yet here they were, standing outside of a stranger's house. Now that Jack was 21, they had a little more freedom, able to leave the house without having to worry about being separated. But just like always, their problems weren't over yet. Since that lowly lawyer Porter had to get involved, it wasn’t just a matter of their family anymore. And Allie, at least she was able to help them arrange for settling matters. Their father was dead. Gone. For good this time. But now there was a whole legal system to deal with. And if the three eldest children couldn't right their history, it was a matter of Sam's safety at stake. They could still be separated, but the little one ... most likely would be taken from Jack and Jane's care if they couldn't get this whole thing sorted. Billy didn't care as much where he ended up. But Jane and Sam belonged together, always.

With the little one standing at his side, a proper little cap on his head, the two probably stuck out terribly, with their country clothes, hand me downs for Sam, and patches for Billy. That’s what a trip into the city would do. But they couldn’t solve these pressing matters by staying hidden away in their little farmhouse. No time to dwell on all that now. Billy needed to get this over with and head off to meet the others. A heavy breath to build up a bit of confidence, and then he was sending a sturdy rap of knuckles to the door in front of them.
Sam huddled close to his older brother. He'd wanted desperately for Jane to come along, but she'd had to take off early with Jack ... court things, Billy said. Sam was scared, and sad. And he wanted to be where his siblings were. He didn’t care if it was boring or adult things, he just wanted to be with them. But Jack insisted. And as much as Jane had wanted to keep her little one close, she also knew this was the better option. It was just for a couple hours. They'd be back - all three of them - to pick him up after lunch.

"NO, Rosie ..." the elder of the two protested, pushing her hand out of the way. He’d spread out his assortment of dinosaur figurines, trucks, and blocks across the carpeting, his world a little skewed by her addition of stuffies, dolls, and a couple farm animals. "Thats not the sound a vocil-raptor makes. They goes GRWARAAAAAWWHHH!" his exampled sound effect was perfectly established with a growling scowl and hands raised like claws by his cheeks.

😴 - climbs into bed with my muse (Rosie at rcsamundmary)
TOUCH STARVED PROMPTS
Feeling the bed SHIFT ever so slightly, John shook off what little sleep he had found that night as he turned, watching a familiar figure slip into his bed. He blinked, though he knew exactly who it was, of course.

“Are you OKAY?” He then asked quietly, turning around to face her.

‘ go away! ’ (rcsamundmary)

Upon her shouting and angry words - no, scared words? - the little boy ran off, disappearing into the shadows as quickly as he came. A whistle through the air, like a gust of wind. Though it sounded more like a young voice, high pitched, shouting, calling out for another. Billy!
Then silence.
The floorboards of the house creaked with old age. Wind found its way through the gaps in the wall.
After taking a moment to watch, observe, make sure it was actually safe to announce his presence, he spoke.
Tumblr media
“It’s just Sam. He won’t hurt you.” the voice was low, much older than the previous apparition of the little boy. And this one came from behind her, where Billy now stood. It was like he’d just appeared from the air. If he hadn’t already been hiding around the corner or within the shadows cast upon the floor.
