I run an informal altered book/collage workshop on the 2nd Monday evening each month. I started making another altered book just for this event…
…& It took so few pages before the moths and lichen started to show up. I tried to do sth else, honestly I did, but it seems I can't help it 🤷😂🦋🦋🦋
The paper folds are ones my co-host Neile has taught us during the workshops. She's ace at papercraft 😁✂️📚

Tumblr media
If you’re looking for an authentic place to enjoy a variety of Indian cuisine and spice, look no further than The Biryani Lounge. The restaurant serves a wide range of dishes that are sure to satisfy your taste buds with every bite.
Biryani: The Star Dish.
Biryani is a rice dish cooked with meat or vegetables. It is an Indian dish popular in South Asia, especially Indian and Pakistan. Biryani differs from pulao because it has more layers of flavour and spices and uses more oil than pulao.
Taste the Tandoori Magic.
Chicken Tikka
Tandoori Chicken
Murgh Malai Kebab
Zafrani Murgh Tikka
Chicken Tangdi Kebab
And more.
Tandoori dishes are traditionally served on the bone but can be ordered boneless as well. A popular choice is butter chicken, which consists of pieces of chicken cooked in a creamy tomato sauce flavoured with garam masala and topped with butter chunks.
Another favourite is a chicken curry made from boneless breast meat simmered in a spicy gravy that includes onions, tomatoes, and plenty of garlic paste; this dish may also include coconut milk for added richness.
Begin with Lip-smacking Veg and Non-Veg Starters.
We offer a delectable range of Veg and Non-Veg Starters that are perfect to kick off your meal on a high note. Here are the descriptions of our popular appetizers:
Chicken 65.
Chilli Chicken.
Pepper Chicken.
Chicken Lollipops (Dry, Wet)
Lamb Kali Mirch.
Chilli Paneer.
Gobi 65.
Cut Mirchi.
And many other delicious dishes.
Whether you’re sharing a plate with friends or enjoying a solo snack, our Veg, and Non-Veg Starters will surely delight your taste buds and get you ready for the main course.
Embrace the Fusion of Indo-Chinese Cuisine.
You can never go wrong with Indo-Chinese. It combines Indian and Chinese food that is perfect for spice lovers. Chicken Fried Rice is one of their best sellers, but if you’re looking for something different, try the Chilli Garlic Noodles or Chicken Noodles.

i’m so sick of writers who proudly proclaim that they don’t read and directors and actors and other filmmakers who smugly say that they rarely watch movies or any artist who acts like an audience is stupid for connecting with their work like what the fuck is wrong with you that you hold such contempt such derision for the art that you have chosen to make the art that so many people dream of the opportunity to make the art that brings meaning and connection to people’s lives it’s unbelievably disrespectful to both your audience and the art-form and if you can’t muster basic respect for either your art-form or your audience then kindly fuck off and do something else

maybe it's just the news about the ban on puberty blockers, or the renewed coverage of brianna ghey's murder, but i can't help feeling like transphobia in the uk is gaining traction every day. it feels genuinely unsafe to be trans here and while i'm not in fear for my life, i cannot escape the sense that i am living in a world that is fundamentally hostile towards me and people like me. and it's not getting better. it's getting worse.
for months i worked at one of london's biggest bookstores, where i was told to display authors like kathleen stock and helen joyce and abigail shrier as face-outs because they were so popular. i had to smile and make small talk while ringing up these books. i didn't complain about this. what would be the point? people want those books, so we sell them. that's what bookshops are for. you can't just not sell books because you don't agree with what's in them. so i didn't complain about it.
the number of trans hate crimes has hit a record high. the tavistock's young adult department has shut down. the wait to be seen at a gender clinic is now ten years and counting. and yet i still have to read articles in mainstream leftist newspapers that talk about how there should be more restrictions placed upon us, or how the mere fact of our existence is endangering children. of course you can't complain about this either. last week i had an appointment with a cis doctor who used the correct pronouns for me and expressed sympathy for my struggles with the NHS, and even that was enough to almost bring me to tears, because i'm so used to doctors treating me with suspicion or discomfort that even the bare minimum feels like a gift.
you can't complain about it. other trans people already know how it is, so there's no point in telling them, and cis people don't care. what good do words do if nobody's listening?

ok I'm not an expert but I'm not seeing much specific info going around here, and there's a lotta Palestine solidarity protests in the UK this weekend, so here is some (including UK-specific) protest info and resources (mostly pulled whole-cloth from Twitter)
policing is heavy at Palestine protests generally
Hamas is a proscribed org under UK law. that means "inviting support" for them or "wearing clothing or displaying articles" that implies you are a supporter is a criminal offence (if you're interested, here's the full list of criminal offences from gov.uk). Palestinian flags etc are ok*, but do not have something that could be mistaken for Hamas imagery. don't go out there looking for convictions pls.
*in spite of what Suella Braverman has implied, the London Muslim Community Forum has just confirmed that the Palestinian flag is not a proscribed flag and is not banned (apologies for quoting the "we advise the met police" group but I thought it was important to have that info explicitly)
don't talk to cops. that includes the police liasion officers in blue bibs.
particularly if you're concerned about your face ending up on social media etc, but also just good practice in general (both in terms of COVID and protest safety)—mask up. cover up tattoos etc.
have bustcards or contact details for protest legal support on you. Green and Black Cross can be contacted on 07946 541 511. write the number on your arm etc.
if you witness an arrest: check if there's a legal observer nearby and if so call them over; if not: if the arrestee doesn't have a bustcard, give them one, find out where they're being taken, and contact eg GBC or a protest support line
if you have the time and can help out, there will likely be arrestee support required after—GBC tend to post callouts on Twitter for this
other links
for particularly children and young people and their families being referred to PREVENT for pro-Palestine statements, contact PREVENTWatch and maybe also Palestine in School (newer initiative I think, I don't have an excessive amount of detail on them just FYI)
Liberty, Migrants Organise and Black Protest Legal Support have bustcards in different languages, including Arabic and Somali (also Liberty's website has lotsa useful info, including advice for disabled protesters, protesting and immigration status, and what to do if you're kettled)
GBC's thread on what to do if you see an arrest is useful, as are all their resources generally
if I've missed anything or made a mistake, lmk—as I said, I am very much not an expert. if you know people who are protesting, pass them the legal support line numbers; if you're attending, stay safe and be vigilant; and ofc carry water.

if you don't know what's happened in UK politics today, it's terrifying news for climate change —
the UK government have just announced plans for over 100 new oil and gas drilling licenses. these new licences will directly contribute.
alongside this, the government announced funding for carbon capture and storage projects — this is great! carbon emissions are stored deep underground, and thus removed from the atmosphere. this solution has been being worked on by climate scientists for 40 years.
but the UK government are using carbon capture as a get out of jail free for drilling more oil.
this is dangerous.
carbon capture and storage works at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but it does not negate further emissions. it only works if we stop burning fossil fuels.
carbon capture and storage is not the problem — continuing to burn fossil fuels is.
we should be angry.

i keep seeing anti-labour memes about how they're just tory lite and listen. listen i fucking get it ok they suck ass they do. sure kier starmer is flawed as fuck and labour is diluted conservatives sure. but diluted. is still LESS. if this election is gonna be a pick the lesser of two evils situation u gotta nut up and fucking vote for the lesser evil. i don't give a shit. srsly I dont care. I know it sucks I know its bad but u can't. u can't sit it out. u can't protest vote. it won't work. and the tories will stay in power
no matter how much u can hate on starmer (and trust me I hate on him a LOT) he will be better than the tories.
blair was also a labour leader considered tory lite and u kno what? yeah he sucked ass but he got Some shit done. the NHS flourished a lil under his leadership u can hate him all u want for not having been a left enough leader but he was a damn sight better than the tories wudve been
so when the election rolls around u gotta fucking suck it up buttercup. I hate seeing this kind of anti-labour rhetoric even in meme form cus it's just gonna either discourage voting especially among the left, or it will completely split the vote. and then we will b truly fucked.
vote smart. vote labour if u have to. unseat the tories and fucking get them the fuck out of power

Listen- any morsels of siren lore/content you provide, please know I am.just hoovering that shit up. Right off the floor. That stuff is tasty and is also watering my crops.
Your Siren AU reminds me of a book I was enamored with as a tween. It was called Ingo, and gosh, I haven't thought about that book in over 10 years.
It was my first encounter with non-tropical mermaids, the book takes place somewhere along the UK coastline. The way the book describes the lure and song of the ocean, how it makes you slowly forget your friends and family on land, gaps in your memory and you can't remember how you got onto the beach- was really mesmerizing and enchanting.
I know sirens are sirens, but I wonder if, upon romantic rejection, some sirens would use their song forcefully against their intended lover to lure them back to the ocean. Maybe not for drowning purposes, but more of a "I'll have you by force if I can't have you willingly" kind of way. Or maybe they just drop it once rejected. That or maybe they just eat them.
INGO????? INGO???????? YOU FUCKING MEAN THE BOOK SERIES I OBSESSED OVER MY WHOLE CHILDHOOD THAT'S SET 10 MINS AWAY FROM MY HOMETOWN????? THE BOOK THAT IS PRETTY MUCH THE SINGLE GREATEST INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLE OF MY SIREN AUS AND ABSOLUTELY THE BIGGEST REASON FOR MY GENERAL OBSESSION WITH MERMAIDS/SIRENS?????
THAT INGO??? THAT INGO????

THAT INGO??????????
