as a freelance theatre professional, i often have to bring my work home. and that doesn't only mean unpaid labour in terms of preparation and applying for funding, but literally having crew meetings and rehearsals in my living room. i've been doing it since my third year of art school and i've done it on more projects than i can count. i don't mind it most of the time, but i understand that it's indicative of self-exploitation, my career bleeding into my private life, and also the devastation of the infrastructure that indie arts (and arts in general, who am i kidding) have to deal with which had lead me to start doing this in the first place. Not to mention that the funding we receive is never enough to cover for places to rehearse in, and those are usually few and far between, not to mention a scheduling nightmare.

So long story short, it's almost always easier to say 'fuck it, we'll just do it at my place.'

with that context out of the way, what i really wanted to say was -
