Hello! I'm currently working on my summer reading and I came across your post, I was wondering what you put on your sticky notes when you're reading and how you make annotations in general? I'm sorry if that's unclear 😰
hello anon! im gonna level with u, this is my first time annotating a work so long – i’ve done articles and such, but never a whole book.
i think annotating is a lot about what works for YOU but also what your teacher is looking for. i can almost assure you that you wanna make note of the following: -rhetorical devices (esp. figurative language!)-sudden tone shifts -appeals to pathos, logos, ethos-things that clue you into the author’s purpose-strong diction, syntax, arrangement choices
also it’s probably not a bad idea to paraphrase important passages!!
i like to get really personal in my annotations and just write down whatever i’m actually thinking. this results in some of my sticky notes sounding rly educated and profound and some of them with “lolzor” on them lol
if you have a specific question i would recommend emailing your teacher or asking others who have taken ur class before what exactly is asked of your annotations!
sorry this got so long! also, here’s a much better guide by @studyign on youtube!!!
don’t hesitate to lmk if u have more q’s for me:))
xxcailin ;)
