The beginning of my Cult of the Possessed Warband!
I've been playing a lot of Dredge recently so I've been in a very nautical/Shadow Over Innsmouth mood. I dug through my backlog of miniatures and found this fisherman and two fish beasts from Reaper Miniatures that were a perfect start to my Mordheim warband. The fisherman is going to be the Magister and the fish will count as my Possessed. I really like Reaper Miniatures models, with how detailed Games Workshop models are getting, the really exaggerated features on the reaper models are a fun, quick paint job.
Slapchopped some DnD NPCs for a recent module, the drybrushing gets old fast doing batches but the actual color bit is quite fun, like color by numbers
I think these are all Reaper metals, on bases I printed. If you're looking to try slapchop yourself, get some makeup brushes, they're probably my favorite for getting good transitions
When I saw the Elf Wizard, Anthanelle miniature from Reaper Miniatures, I immediately knew I wanted to paint her in the style of Aredhel, the White Lady of the Noldor, and I really like the headcanon that Fingolfin's kids have darker skin, so this was born.
I really like the white and pale blue, though I'm slightly less sure about the silver. Oh well, it works alright...
These are my most played with monsters for RPGs, but never got painted. They're Reaper Bones, the white material, and cleaning them up sucked! I ended up slicing as much of the mold lines as I could, then I covered the rest with some thick layers of primer. I took this opportunity to try some speed painting techniques. I used contrast paints (xpress) and oils, but also traditional acrilycs as a final step. Despite my frustrations with the material, I'm very happy with the result (for the time it took) so I think I might try to replicate this process on some other appropriate models (plague bearers??)
Bufo, Dreadmere frogman miniature from Reaper Miniatures painted in January 2023 for a painting competition at my FLGS.
I made the bamboo from toothpicks and greenstuff, and I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. I based Bufo's colour scheme on the Eastern Japanese Common Toad (Bufo formosus).
In other news, I painted my first miniature, a cloud giantess from Reaper!
I... do not think I did a particularly good job, she looks kinda crusty compared to any of the minis I've seen around, and I'd be eager to hear advice on what to do in the future, but overall, she is kind of a milestone, and I may as well show her off!
Zhiin Kazad'ma!
For generations, the dwarves of the MacShima clan threw relatives from the mountain, fighting for power in the clan and susceptible to the Balrog gene.
