would YOU be interested in a Mists-based GW2 roleplay guild that uses a lore compliant multiverse system to allow canon, canon-adjacent, lore-breaking, and otherwise 'contradictory' muses to coexist in the same setting?

simply put: every writer's cast would be set in their own self-contained universe. as such, everyone could bring whatever muses they want with their own personal headcanons, and no one could dictate what is or isn't canon for anyone else. so long as your muses are GW2-based, you're good to go! bring your Commanders, bring your canon-divergent OCs, bring your canon muses-- and yes, even the ones that are 'supposed' to be dead. who can say what might have happened in a strange world far across the Mists, after all?

neutral hubs and in-character safety guardrails would be in place to keep all muses on a relatively even playing field regardless of their power, history, and prestige, too. play hardball if you like, but it might not end quite the way you'd hope. the main rule would be to maintain good OOC etiquette at all times: no godmodding, no metagaming, no theft, don't blend IC and OOC, and so-on.

The colors of the copper on blackberry dye seem to have shifted from maroon to a very rich milk chocolate brown--which I will hardly complain about, since that's a hard brown to get. I do hope I get something more permanently reddish/purplish with alum--that's what I'll try next. I'm just waiting for the 9 pounds of raw fleece to arrive.

Last night I carded a lot of that blackberry dyed fleece and then put it on the blending board with about half of the white (which was the previous distaff dressing) as a little stripe to one side. Idk, just curious how it'll turn out and seemed more interesting to spin that way. Carding first definitely helps with consistency--both colors were willowed first and put on the blending board, but only the brown was carded as well, and it is much easier to keep smooth and least kind of even.

The one improvement of this phone camera over my old one is that it has a timer setting, so I can actually show where my hands normally are (sometimes anyway). Fairly comfortable although my distaff hand is starting to cramp. Might just be one of those days or might be too heavy for me, but the shape at least is good.

You can probably see that the white is still all over the place, but the brown is pretty even, just with lumps still on occasion. Also, the new height of this spindle means it's perfect for lap spinning rather than impossible to lap spin with, so I'm very happy about that.

If you have a huge self realization, You don't actually have to do anything about it. It's so easy to hide from. When I heard other people's stories, I always assumed when I reached my breaking point, I would HAVE to do something about it. Some current would buoy me along, And I wouldn't have to just sit in bed, Consumed by self doubt. At what point do you just HAVE to do it? I feel like I've reached that point a dozen times. How many times have I cried about this? How many times am I going to? If I ignore it long enough, will it smooth over like a rock caught in a stream? Or will it consume me, Crawling through my body cavity until I choke? Until I die? I told myself I would tell people, if it got bad enough. I don't know if I can tell people, now. It's been so long. The tiger's been chasing me through these woods long enough I've stopped caring if it digs its teeth into me. Maybe if I lie down and let it eat me, something nicer can grow out of my bones.

Not to go on a tangent but I really, really do feel like the reason tumblr as we have known it feels it's dying is not because of the staff size being reduced or anything like that, it's been going on for much longer than that- the community aspect of this website just feels more and more non-existent.

People aren't reblogging anywhere near as much, and when they do they rarely have anything to say anymore. Back in the day it was not at all uncommon for someone to reblog one of the gifsets I'd spent hours painstaking making to show numerous parallels from a series and they'd add interesting or sweet or thoughtful commentary or meta to it.

Writers would reblog a beautiful piece of art and maybe leave a poem or a short ficlet inspired by the art.

People would have interesting back and forth conversations about many different topics, and it was always fun to see what different people thought or felt about something.

Someone would post a selfie and we'd all comment how nice their outfit was or how cute their hair colour looked, if they said it was okay to reblog, you'd reblog it and tag it #Lovely people or something of the sort. You'd reblog your friends pets and say how cute they were.

Now? Sure there's still people here who do these things, who try hard to be friendly, to support other creators but it's just fundamentally nowhere near as much. People can barely count on long time mutuals and friends to reblog a gifset or a piece of art they'd spent hours on. But in the past most of us never had an issue reblogging something from someone you were mates with, even if it was something you didn't know- You could still find time to comment. Let alone people who you didn't know, who you didn't follow. But still! You had an interest in common! In the past that was enough, you'd reblog their post and say something kind. Now? We might as well be on instagram. Just throw a like on it and call it a day. What community.

So, as you may or may not know, The Good Doctor is airing its last season.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about this show, so I was skeptical about watching it. However, my skepticism turned into anger as I came across THIS.

Freddie Hiemore isn’t even autistic himself. Another bad representation for us autistic people. And the fact that this was supported by and hate group makes it even worse. I found another article explaining the ableism and inaccuracy of said group.

Anyway, I’m happy the show is ending. Young Sheldon too. I don’t like it when the media makes autistic people so smart like savants, or to an offense way of portraying those with level 2-3 autistic people.

The media really needs autistic actors to play autistic people. They know what it’s like to be autistic and the struggles they can go through.

Check for Alt Text!

While I'm glad there's a growing awareness for alt text/image descriptions on this site, please check - before you tag something as "undescribed" or add an image description in the caption - that there isn't actually alt text embedded in the image itself.

Tumblr's beta post editor now allows us to add a very generous 4k characters of alt text to images. This allows for more fluidly integrated image descriptions than putting a description in the caption, because they'll be read along with the rest of the post instead of summarised at the end. Also, people cannot delete alt text in a reblog the way they can delete reblogged captions.

I don't know how it goes for every browser, and I'm sure on mobile it's useless, but on Firefox, you can tell which images on Tumblr are using alt text from the little "ALT" infographic which appears in the bottom left corner of each described image. If you hover over this it will light up, and if you click on it, it will display the alt text in plain text. Twitter has also utilised a similar system which does work on mobile, but unfortunately Twitter only allows for 1000 characters of alt text per image, so on that front, Tumblr is much better - if you use it.

Here's a screencap of what the "ALT" infographic looks like on Tumblr, with the left being hovered over by my cursor. In fact since this image itself is also captioned with alt text you should be able to see if it's working on your browser in real time.

Anyway - again, glad we're all more aware of image descriptions now, but if you're tagging things as "undescribed" etc. in case anyone following you with a screen reader would like to filter out those posts, they may potentially be missing accessible posts if you're not checking for alt text. Likewise, if you write a whole new image description in the caption of a post that's already using alt text, a person with a screen reader has to sit through the same/similar descriptions twice.

Also, start using the alt text feature of the beta post editor lmao. As far as social media accessibility tools go this one is pretty good.
