STOP EVERYTHING AND GO READ THIS FIC. DO IT NOW.
i don't remember if i ever recommended this fanfiction here but even if i did do so, it deserves another mention and all the mentions that will (and they WILL!!!!) come after this. this is straight up the best zelda botw fanfic i have read. i have spasmodic euphoria every time i read it and i have read it a couple times already and the intensity does not change. the author has the hands of god and a mind worth the entire sun. if u have ever cared about botw even the tiniest bit or heck. even if you dgaf about botw read it. read it anyway. it's SO GOOD its DEVASTATING

what’s aba
ABA stands for applied behavior analysis. It’s a super common and pervasive “treatment”/“intervention” for autistic children-- because they're showing "disruptive" distress behaviors, because their autistic traits are seen as needing to be assimilated to fit into capitalist society, because it's just seen as the thing you do with autistic kids
Basically it tries to change someone’s outward behavior using rewards or punishments. When it was first invented (by the guy also involved in creating conversion therapy!), these included slaps and electric shocks. Today, most of the methods have been made much “friendlier”, but still arguably work to make an autistic child’s behavior easier to deal with, more “normal”, more compliant.
While it often /is/ effective in changing outward behaviors, that says nothing of its potential to teach shame, masking of autistic traits, reliance upon prompts/rewards to do things, teaching that you must always obey authority figures, that your internal feelings are unimportant, the trauma of potentially aversive punishments, the fact that kids as young as 2 get recommended to spend up to 40hours a week in intensive ABA, the fact that it rarely addresses (or even worsens) the actual issues underlying distress behaviors…. and ultimately the message is that disabled people must be changed to fit into abled society, rather than abled society changing.
As that post I reblogged said, it's important to nuance to the discussion beyond "ABA=abuse", especially regarding how so many social forces shape the reality and power and experience of ABA, incl the absence of better types of care.

Some cross-over art for the Accursed and Harbinger Crack ship from @justpked Fell Star and Beyond the Spider Lilies. It's a redraw of a Parks and Recs meme, where my Harbinger Thuban is playfully teasing Aris for having such a big fanboy crush on her, even though she and Aris are married now and even raising two kids together.
Thuban: Aww darling...You had a crush on me...That's embarrassing.
Aris: We're married...
Thuban: Still...

It's the time of year to get really upset that Jane Austen never finished The Watsons.
It would have put the Jane Fairfax/Fanny Price Changeling Child plotline front-and-center, with a heroine who'd been adopted into high society only to be sent back to live with a lower-class family she no longer knows.
But she'd have had an Anne Elliot sister whose good-natured practicality keeps the family together even while she deals with the heartbreak of being separated from the man she once loved.
And a harpy of a sister whose machinations make everyone's lives miserable.
And a brother who's a surgeon (!) who has his own hopeless unrequited love story happening in the background.
And when their father died, the girls would have had to live with a higher-class brother and his disagreeable wife who would have found them a burden.
Meanwhile, our heroine is being pursued by a socially-awkward, proud lord who doesn't know how to discuss anything but hunting.
But she's really in love with a humble, kind curate who is devoted to caring for his widowed sister and her children.
But the curate is being romantically pursued by the lord's predatory mother.
And mixed up in all this is a charming, lively young man who uses his skills to grovel for position with his betters.
In short, we could have had Jane Fairfax and Anne Elliot as devoted sisters forced to live with John and Fanny Dashwood while their sister Lucy Steele causes problems, a Charles Musgrove version of Mr. Darcy pursues Jane, Anne gets a chance to be reunited with her Wentworth, and Jane falls in love with a Henry Tilney version of Edward Ferrars who's being pursued by Lady Susan, while Wickham is doing his best to be Mr. Collins. Plus a romance plot for a brother! We could have had a book with the family complexities and darker issues of Sense and Sensibility and Mansfield Park and the light, bright and sparkling humor of Pride and Prejudice.
But we don't, because she never finished it, and I'm so upset.

the only ds games i own are style savvy and super Mario bros so I rlly want some recommendations on more fun games plz (i have the 3ds) not a switch =^.^=
ahhh okay 1000% Magician's Quest!! all the room-decorating and clothes of animal crossing but you also get to learn spells and solve mysteries and learn the lore behind the NPCs and have cutesy schoolyard crushes on your classmates (many kinds of creatures and...people dressed as objects?) AND YOU GET TO RIDE A BROOM and theres a lot of different models of broom including a vacuum cleaner
otherwise i would say maybe like Imagine Makeup Artist, also has what looks like a lot of clothes options + a dating sim aspect, for something more fashion-focused ~
The Sims 2 DS has a fun storyline (not that my noob ass ever finished it) while retaining the easygoing and wacky sims-style :3
and i almost altogether forgot Harvest Moon, which defined my childhood....take a good long browse of the many ds titles, ive played most and like them all though i will say the island one is tricky to progress in (ive heard sunshine islands is easier but my child self ended up with the former version, island of happiness..) OG harvest moon DS/DS cute offers the most in terms of easter eggs and has some very unique marriage candidates so i hold it in high regard...
and i love Rune Factory 4 for being able to tame all the monsters!! marriage in that one too!! held my attention recently for quite a while!
okok LASTLY Drawn to Life i also never made decent progress in and i cant remember it hardly at all but i remember thinking the village area was so cutely designed and the concept is unique and charming!!! Drawn to Life has been slept-on hardcore!!!!!!!

i am not even remotely a medievalist, but i've been reading homoeroticism and chivalry by richard zeikowitz and let me tell you, if you're even remotely interested in homoerotic desire in medieval literature you should definitely pick it up!!! there are lots of interesting parallels with early modern literature for us shakespeare freaks!
