Tesla is recalling all 3,878 Cybertrucks that it has shipped to date, due to a problem where the accelerator pedal can get stuck, putting drivers at risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall caps a tumultuous week for Tesla. The company laid off more than 10% of its workforce on Monday, and lost two of its highest-ranking executives. A few days later, Tesla asked shareholders to re-vote on CEO Elon Musk’s massive compensation package that was struck down by a judge earlier this year.

Please discard any Polynesian Sauce dipping cups that were purchased from Chick-fil-A restaurants between February 14-27, 2024. A supplier notified us they unintentionally added a different sauce that includes wheat and soy allergens and other ingredients. As soon as we were informed, we took immediate steps to notify guests to discard the sauce immediately. We can confirm that no other dipping sauces or 8 oz bottles are impacted. We understand and take seriously the trust our guests place in us to make sure their food is what they ordered and apologize for this experience.

Last month, Trader Joe's recalled a frozen pilaf mix and a group of its products that contained cotija cheese which could have listeria contamination. Fourteen recalls were issued in 2023 for possibly having salmonella in its cut cantaloupe, rocks in its falafel and cookies, and glass in its instant coffee.
🙃
WTF, Trader Joe’s?

In September 2021, federal officials grew so alarmed by the number of babies who had suffocated after being laid down on a popular infant lounger that they issued an urgent notice to parents: Stop using it immediately.
The padded, pillowy Boppy Newborn Lounger — sold to exhausted caregivers who relied on it as a safe place to put their infants — was linked to the deaths of eight babies, the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned. The federal agency announced a recall of more than 3 million of the loungers, which had been a mainstay of baby registries for years.
CPSC staff members then wanted to go a step further. It wasn’t just one manufacturer’s infant lounger that posed a potentially lethal threat; the agency next planned to consider sweeping regulation of other cushioned infant loungers, which some experts and officials believed were just as unsafe as the Boppy lounger. The move could have forced manufacturers to redesign their loungers or stop selling them, according to interviews with current and former CPSC employees, industry representatives and safety advocates.
But one day after the Boppy recall was announced, the CPSC’s two Republican commissioners — who at the time held a majority — scrapped that more comprehensive action, approving an annual operating plan that removed a proposal for regulating infant pillows, according to interviews and a review of the documents.
Since then, babies have continued to die.
[...] Some companies explicitly advise customers to “transition” their babies to a crib or bassinet if they fall asleep on a lounger, but that does not always happen. And for years, photos of infants peacefully snoozing in loungers have proliferated on social media, muddying the message that the product should not be used for sleep.
“You can’t put that burden on parents,” CPSC Chair Alex Hoehn-Saric said in a recent interview. “If you have a product that looks like it’s good for sleep, you can’t claim that it’s not a sleep product.”

Hello! Are you interested in learning how to navigate the FDA recall website? Here's a little information about it!
As of now, the website is at: https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts
Here's what you'll see when you visit:
Tumblr media
Below this, you'll find two things:
- A search feature
- The comprehensive list.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How to interpret the list:
I will use the first item as an example. It says "2/10/2024" and "SaveMart."
Do I frequently by any "SaveMart" food? I don't know. I'm not familiar with that brand. Sometimes smaller, better-known brands are contained under these larger categories. So I will click on it:
Tumblr media
Now I can see that "SaveMart" includes something else called "Lucky" and "Lucky California." I also see that this recall is about their "service deli chicken street taco kit" specifically.
Is that all the information I need? I will scroll down to read the Summary.
Tumblr media
It's important to note WHY the product is being recalled! Some are "less serious" recalls, such as "oops, we said this product didn't have peanuts, but it might." (I say "less serious" because allergens are less of a health risk for the average person than pathogen contaminants like Listeria, E. coli, etc.) These "less serious" recalls can still indicate poor quality of production, so even if they aren't relevant to you, it's worth being aware of.
However, this recall is Listeria! What is Listeria? Often, the recall page will explain the contaminant and it's dangers. There is often other VERY IMPORTANT information too.
So I will scroll down and skim the next section:
Tumblr media
Note, there is a description for Listeria.
But IMPORTANTLY, it notes that the risk comes specifically from cotija cheese from Rizo-Lopez Foods.
At this point, I'm not sure if other products containing this ingredient have issued recalls. Typically, recalls are made voluntarily by the brands/companies that sell the products. However, the FDA can also announce contaminants, if the companies do not volunteer that information. I will return to the main page and continue reading the recent recalls, looking for the Rizo-Lopez cojits cheese as I read about other recalls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I click on the second one, Stater Bros., and hey! That looks familiar! Is it the same cheese? I scroll down to see:
Tumblr media
Yep, same cheese!
And when I scroll down more, I find some very helpful information:
Tumblr media
So, the FDA and CDC are investigating the outbreak. It's related to cojita and queso fresco. And, helpfully, there is a link for more information!
When I click the link, it takes me to a page for Rizo-López Foods, Inc, and their voluntary recall of dairy products. Tumblr says I can't add more pictures so here's some information from the page:
The recalled products were distributed nationwide by RLF and through distributors. Products also were sold at retail deli counters including, but not limited to, El Super, Cardenas Market, Northgate Gonzalez, Superior Groceries, El Rancho, Vallarta, Food City, La Michoacana, and Numero Uno Markets.
The recalled products include cheese, yogurt, and sour cream sold under the brand names Tio Francisco, Don Francisco, Rizo Bros, Rio Grande, Food City, El Huache, La Ordena, San Carlos, Campesino, Santa Maria, Dos Ranchitos, Casa Cardenas, and 365 Whole Foods Market.
Note that it discusses some of the places it was sold, and the brands it was sold under! If you have loved ones who buy the products, be a sweetheart and tell them.
At the bottom of this page is a BIG, HELPFUL SECTION OF PHOTOS of some affected products! You can screenshot those to reference at the store, and send the photos to loved ones.
If you are quick, you can scan a whole year's worth of recalls in 10-30 minutes. Then you just need to periodically check back for new ones!
Okay, hope that is helpful for someone! Stay up-to-date and stay safe! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Kerrygold and PFAS
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/why-was-kerrygold-butter-recalled-what-to-know-about-the-reported-pfas-contamination/ar-AA17QH2D
Avid bakers and dairy enthusiasts have likely noticed that a widely popular butter brand has been missing from grocery store shelves, as of late.
According to Top Class Actions, Ornua Foods North America Inc. is being sued violating New York General Business Law, breach of express warranty, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment in Carolyn Winans et al., v. Ornua Foods North America Inc. The case has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
The plaintiff claims Ornua Foods should have warned customers about the presence of toxins in its products, specifically within the grease-resistant packaging, as it posed serious health risks.
“PFAS are a group of synthetic, man-made, chemicals known to be harmful to both humans and the environment,” the Kerrygold class action states, per Top Class Action. “Because PFAS persist and accumulate over time, they are harmful even at very low levels.”
According to 961 The Breeze, the contaminated products in question included: Kerrygold salted butter sticks, UPC 00767707002149, any best by date; and Kerrygold unsalted butter sticks, UPC 00767707002156, any best by date; from Walmart, Target, Tops, and Wegmans. Those who purchased contaminated products can return them for a full refund, and can now expect to see the same products with updated packaging in each of those stores.
