In the event of any kind of AI Art API is to be trained on this platform I do not give permission for my art to be sampled or used to train AI without financial compensation, artists hold the copyright to our art and any intentional mimicry or sampling of my art by an artificial intelligence is infringing on an artist's rights to their creations.
We as artists will not take this grim proposal between Tumblr and Midjourney laying down, this was the last safe heaven for a lot of us and you are now holding knives to us entirely to solve your financial woes instead of offering meaningful solutions. You are going to bleed your community of all trust and all revenue you still eek out of us. Your ways have changed from one of a community built around passion for fandom and the creative mind to one of greed and exclusion. You have been showing true colors and they are ugly, they are sickening, and they will kill your platform.
If this deal goes through, may your platform die slow and painfully, may you watch your most loyal of whales walk away and leave you drying out in the hot pavement that is bankruptcy.
Biden told the reporters at the white house "no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth" simply denying the people killed in such a short time. In response, the health ministry of Palestine published a 212 page report, detailing the names, ages, genders and ID numbers to every person killed in the enclave.
Over 7000 kills where documented then, today the number increases but we have no way of knowing since gaza is completely cut off. Reporters IN gaza don't even know what's happening. If your house is bombed, you can't call an ambulance, there is no communication.
If you remain silent, you're siding with the oppressor. There is no "neutrality" in genocide. People of gaza are getting annihilated.
While displaced individuals was trying to obtain drinking water, the IOF shelled a house near Al-Quds Hospital, what compelled the residents to seek refuge in the hospital in a state of fear and panic, especially among the children. It's important to note that the available water supply is running low, and the hours of access to water are extremely limited
I've seen an interesting split of opinions on this situation as of late and I wanna know what the general consensus is
When a platform becomes hostile to a group of people,
The logic I've seen for both is:
Stay: Running is what they want you to do. They want to chase you off the internet. You need to tell these people that they can't get rid of you. This is Your Platform, so defend it from the people that want to chase you off of it.
Move: Why would you stay on a platform that doesn't support you? If the platform is hostile to your existence, you should leave for your own safety. There's always somewhere you can go that will accept you.
In regards to recent, ongoing action and enabled harassment of our trans sisters by staff, I urge all of you to keep them in mind and heart. Speak up about it. Let the love for transfems outshine the hate.
Make your love known.
Section 106 of the 1976 Copyright Act gives the owner of copyright the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to: reproduce the work in copies; to prepare derivative works; to distribute copies of the work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending.
I DO NOT GIVE TUMBLR THE RIGHT TO LEND, RENT, OR LEASE COPIES OF MY WORK TO AI ART COMPANIES. THIS IS AN INFRINGEMENT OF MY RIGHTS AS AN ARTIST AND OF GERNEAL COPYRIGHT LAW. AS WELL AS THE INFRINGEMENT OF THE RIGHTS OF ALL CREATORS OF THEIR SITE.
there's something to be said about the Social Media Experience right now.
like, more than a decade ago, i made this blog, and i've made friends through this blog, through all the fandoms that it's seen come and go— and i've lost friends too, after they moved on to other platforms when tumblr "died", or when they simply slipped out of the niche we'd shared for so long. and i didn't have a way to reconnect with them back then, not for lack of wanting but mostly because i was younger and didn't fully appreciate the value of having friends that lived inside a screen, of sharing space with like-minded people outside of "real life," so i didn't really bother to hunt anyone down.
and then years passed. the cycle repeats itself. but i'm more grown. we all are. and we've all been through some shit that i think has embedded in a lot of us the importance of staying together, of checking up on each other even if it's just a glance, just to know. it's not just about networking, either, not really? it's about having someone. having that group of people, having that place.
on twitter all i've seen today is "here's where you can find me." like hands reaching out. and on here all i've seen lately are a cluster of new followers, a lot with familiar names... and really old names that i haven't seen in years. hands that reached back. posts that feel like "hello, is anyone still here?"
yeah, i'm still here. we're still here.
to everyone new: hello, nice to meet you. this place isn't without its problems but make yourself at home.
to everyone from back then: hi, it's so nice to see you again.
and to everyone who came: thanks. i'm really glad you're here.
Hey since this is a thing that's happening (tumblr isn't turning a profit and it's going to be left to rot, essentially), can we make a list of safe, online queer (and/or fan) communities
