Scan your e-ticket at the gate and you will be at the Orchid Garden. Work your way to the air-conditioned Penguin Cove to watch the King, Gentoo, Northern Rockhopper and Humboldt penguins flying underwater. In the area where the penguins are housed, the water and air temperature are maintained at a low of 8°C with special lighting that mimics the changes in day length in the different seasons - all to simulate the natural habitat of the penguins. Also remember to watch documentaries on the penguins at the Theater.

If you are not interested in the birds in tuxedo, maybe have a Penguin Bao (S$3.90+) to munch on. This is just your average tau sar bao (red bean paste bun) selling at marked up rate. If you have spare moolah, by all means buy one or a box of 4s to try.

I was curious... what would Creon look like in the world of Cuphead? I mean, not human but a caricature, object, something anthropomorphic... What would she be?
Sorry it took so long. Life stuff happened.
If not a human, I had a few ideas cuz I couldn't really choose. Also I genuinely had fun with these. Some I didn't bother to draw.
If she were an animal, it would either be a white Bengal tiger or a Vampire bat. Didn't think I'd make a knock-off "Rouge the Bat" haha.

If she were anthropomorphic food, her head would be red-bean bun with a soft dough-like body. Or a pork bun.
If she were an object or some form of dishware, that's where I was torn. It's kind of boring, but she'd probably be a standard white teacup filled with matcha latte.
Or one of those teapots used in Korean/Japenese tea ceremonies. There's also the bowl that has holes to keep chopsticks in place. And cute bowls with lids to keep your food hot.

Coin De Rue Bakery & Cafe, 125 N Western Ave, Ste 113, Los Angeles (Koreatown), CA 90004
Tumblr media
Coin De Rue is a cute Korean fusion bakery café owned by a pastry chef. It looks similar to Paris Baguette (and it’s better than PB). They make everything in-house. The variety was impressive and included full size cakes, cake slices, cheesecake, castella cakes, napoleons, croquettes, croissants, macarons, savory and sweet baked buns, cookies, mochi, pesto bread, egg salad sandwiches, and lots of coffee and tea drinks.
The smaller items were individually wrapped in plastic. The items were labeled and included a list of ingredients. Grab a tray and pick out what you’d like. Fresh bread is baked without preservatives every day.
Real real: Two mochi, one looked like a potato and one looked like a sweet potato. Both were generously filled. The mochi shells were thin and chewy and the filling, mashed and natural tasting. So good! Super cute too.
Red rice flour shio roll: similar to Okayama Kobo’s salt & butter roll but bright red in color, it looks like a Pillsbury crescent roll. It’s soft and slightly salty from the sprinkle of salt on top. Not as soft as Okayama’s. Good but I like the shio rolls better at Okayama and Sunmerry
Sausage bun ($4): bigger and with way more toppings than you’d get at other Asian bakeries. Liked it a lot because it had lots of hot dog slices, cheese, onions, and peppers. Drizzled lightly with ketchup.
Coin De Rue had some super cute pastries. They’re located in a strip mall with parking. Free wi-fi. They have indoor and outdoor seating.
I want to try the mochi bread next time.

Sanji x Reader - Confessions and Cooking Lessons
Tumblr media
You snuck out of the girls room and made it to the kitchen on board the Thousand Sunny.  You had to be very careful tonight.  The only sound that could be heard on the usually loud ship were waves crashing against the sides.  You quietly opened the door.  There he was, Sanji, currently watching dishes.  The moonlight illuminates his face, making it even more radiant now than even when the sun was out.  He turned around and stared into your eyes, “Hello my dear.  Are you ready? You’re going to learn how to make your favorite!”
You nodded.  Late at night, Sanji had been teaching you how to cook since you had always wanted to learn.  Each night one of you was on watch, the other would sneak out and meet the other.  It was a lot of fun and you learned a lot.  “Yes,” you answered, happily nodding.  He grabbed the ingredients from the fridge, ready to teach you.
After your lesson, the two of you sat there eating your creation. “I can’t believe I made this!  I made red bean buns!  How did you know these were my favorite Sanji?”  Sanji looked deeply and lovingly into your eyes.  His gaze wasn’t anything like how it was with other women.  “It’s because I love…” the chef’s confession was cut off by a certain hungry captain.  “Sanjiii,” Luffy whined, “I want snacks.  Why didn’t you invite me?”
Sanji started walking towards the captain annoyed. “I swear to god Luffy.  I was in the middle of something with Y/N and you had to ruin it!”
You laughed.  Maybe next time you’d finally be able to hear his full love confession without the interruption.

Two Red Bean Buns (豆沙包) fresh out from the steamer. Got them from Ho Kee Pau (和记包) for S$1.20 each which is slightly on the expensive side but we just love that smooth and velvety sweet bean paste. Unlike the anpan bread (Japanese Red Bean Bun), the local bakeries blended the red beans to smooth rather than retain the coarse bean texture.

Simply Splendid Bakery, 1273 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801
Tumblr media
Simply Splendid Bakery is a Hong Kong style bakery that bakes cakes, cake rolls, loaves of bread, buns, egg tarts, savory pies, and pastries. I also saw Hong Kong style sweet dessert soups in the fridge. The baked buns are individually wrapped. They also offer drinks, including Hong Kong milk tea. Baked buns include the usual red bean, taro, coconut, tuna, egg & ham, cheese, hot dog, custard, coffee, etc. Lots to choose from. I’m impressed by how perfectly round their baked buns are.
Portuguese egg tart ($1.99): Served warm. The crust was thin and crisp. The custard was eggy, creamy, and sweet. This was decent. The other type of egg tart they had looked like it had a flakier crust.
Red bean mochi bun: favorite item because it was filled with a lot of soft, chewy mochi (rice cake). The chewiness of the rice cake complemented the soft baked bun. There was also a layer of chunky red bean paste that wasn’t too sweet.
BBQ pork baked bun ($2.30): My first few bites were all bun, no filling. Once I reached the center, there was quite a bit of pork. It was chopped finely. I wasn’t a fan of the mushy texture. It was slightly sweet. The bun was soft and tender.
Prices are about average for Asian bakeries. The signs are in English and Chinese. Simply Splendid is in a busy strip mall near several Chinese restaurants.
I went back and really liked the yogurt bun. The bun was so soft and chewy. Plus, it was lightly sweetened. I haven’t seen yogurt buns elsewhere.
Impressed with their variety and how they don’t overly sweeten their buns.
4 out of 5 stars.
