[A longwinded ramble / theory about Gabe's death]

It was already dark when Gabe finished up his security gig and drove toward home. There was nothing out of the ordinary, just a crisp autumn night in early September. He had the radio on in his truck, listening to whatever songs came up without a worry in the world. He came to a green light, quickly checked both ways and progressed.

Colm was also on his way home after a night of relapse at the bar. He was leaning over to the passenger’s seat to grab another beer - one hand on the wheel, lead foot on the gas pedal, no eyes on the road. He sped through the intersection, oblivious to the red light and Gabe’s truck passing through the center. 

The alpha had tried to avoid it, but what could he do? By the time he saw the little black car charging toward the driver’s side door, it was already too late. His truck slid sideways across the street, smashing the other side of the truck against the traffic light pole. Gabe was dead on impact, never knowing a member of his pack had been the one to kill him.

It was just past midnight when the police came knocking on David’s door. He was still half asleep, barely conscious as the police tried explaining what happened. He almost thought he was still dreaming, stuck in some fucked up nightmare. But it wasn’t. His dad was dead, and some drunk driver killed him. 

He didn’t feel the need to ask who this mystery driver was, he honestly had no desire to know. It was easier to think of the driver as more of a concept than a person. Drunk driving killed Gabe Shaw. It was more palatable than the crushing reality that another living, breathing person had been the sole reason that his dad was dead and his pack was without an alpha. Knowing Colm had been that unnamed driver would not have helped anything, and it certainly wouldn’t have made stepping up into his father’s role any easier. 

David lost all the family he’d ever had and, on top of that, the entirety of his pack looked to him for guidance and leadership in his father’s stead. There was no space to worry about the poor sonofabitch who ran that red light with everything else he had to shoulder. So he didn’t know any better, and neither did the pack. DUMP made sure of that.

The department made sure no one knew one of their ex-investigators had driven drunk and killed the alpha of his pack. They knew it would not have helped their already strained relationship with the general empowered public, so they kept it under wraps. They got him into AA and made him pay a fine that was nowhere close to punishment enough and sent him on his way. 

Colm had already made a great deal of progress with his gambling before the accident, but the crash really set him straight. He quit drinking, he stopped going out to the casino, and he tried being a better man. The guilt ate at him and served as the ultimate encouragement to fix himself and get in line. He was given a second chance, he wasn’t gonna waste it. He lives with the shame of what he did, keeping it buried in his chest where it will stay with him until the day he dies.

Angel head-canons😇

•Angel blasts music in their headphones and dances around the house while cleaning/doing chores/ etc..

•David will always yell something like “ANGEL, I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HEAR NIKI MINAJ HALF WAY ACROSS THE HOUSE!”

•Angel has nicknames for the whole pack, example Sam's is “old man” and Milo’s is “mile low”.

•Angel’s mom died when they where only about 7

(that leads me to my second conclusion)

•when Angel was a kid their dad was abusive and wouldn’t allow them to use eat the “normal” foods unless he cooked it himself, and that’s why Angel can’t cook very well.

(Angst is over)

•Angel always plays with the kids in the pack at pack meetings and other events, and they also bring them snacks and little treats etc..

•Angel likes to bite. Sometimes David will be doing normal things around the house like cleaning, cooking, etc.. and Angel will just come up behind him and bite his neck or arm, something like that.

(This leads me to my second conclusion)

•one time Angel bit David too hard and his arm started bleeding, it was only on one small spot but they felt so bad and kept apologizing over and over again even tho David kept telling them it was ok. They didn’t bite him for a while after that.

•Angel’s favorite sweet/bake good, is cupcakes. And when David is in a good mood or wants to do something sweet for them he will bake them cupcakes.

•Angel and Asher are besties (it’s already canon but idc) and when they met they immediately clicked and hit it off, David thought it was annoying how loud they where being at the pack meeting tho.

•Angel likes to bake but they can’t cook. They make the best sweets and baked things.

•Angel loves singing in the shower, David will come home and just hear “I SAID CERTIFIED FREAK, 7 DAYS A WEEK, WET ASS PUSSY MAKE THAT PULLOUT GAME WEAK” being yelled in the shower and he just sighs and shakes his head but he secretly thinks it’s cute.

•they love doja cat, Niki manaj, cardi b, and the weekend.

•I HAVE SAID THIS ONCE AND I’LL SAY IT AGAIN- Angel is NOT short David is just huge. They’re about 5’8 or 5’7 and they’re curvy

(that brings me to my second conclusion)

•David loves their curves and will worship their body when they feel down or insecure about it. And he also loves sliding his hands up and down their body when they both cuddle

Bed Time habits

🪷 Notes: Just wanted something nice with some of the redacted men. 

✧  Milo

Has a twelve step face routine, and makes sure sweetheart also has one. If Sweetheart wasn’t one to take care of themselves he’s got you. He actually has really nice PJ’s he wears to bed. Like the nice cotton ones that are very breathable and soft, and have like three sets to switch in between. When in bed he likes being the big spoon, wrapping himself around Sweetheart and holding them close. He is a snorer, but it’s soft and even. He tends to move a little bit, but not much. 

✧ David

As established, wears only his underwear to bed. Even in winter, and that’s only because Angel is a god damn furnace. While he brushes his teeth regularly, he tends to not take care of his skin that well. He uses bar soap to clean his face, and thinks it’s okay to use body lotion as face moisturizer. He does change a bit if Angel insists and will use whatever face wash and moisturizer they give him. He does notice a huge difference but refuses to say anything about it, and only makes non committal noises if Angel says anything. Also a cuddler, but he lays on his back and has Angel lay on his chest.

✧  Sam

He’s not one to have a fancy face routine but Darlin’ using bar soap is another thing on the list of ‘i love you but how have you survived’ (Darlin and David share a lot of the same habit’s and this is a hill I’ll die on). He buys them decent face wash. Darlin’ takes better care of themselves now that they and Sam are dating and living together. He’s proud of them. He wears PJ bottoms but not a shirt to sleep, as Darlin’ is warm enough, and he likes having them curled up to his side while sleeping. 

✧ Guy

Guy is someone who, if not reminded, forgets to brush his teeth or wash his face. He’s not disgusting, but it’s something that slips his mind frequently. So when Honey does their bedtime routine he’s right next to them, doing everything they do. He wears one of Honey’s T-shirts and shorts to bed. He also will not leave Honey alone even in sleep, they have quickly become used to having someone lay on them as they fall asleep. It’s a free weighted blanket.

5 Headcanons

I might not surprise anyone with this one, but I fully believe that Sweetheart is a pretty high rank in the department. In my fics I usually write them as Head Investigator but really it's just them holding a position of power in general. Especially six+ years into the game in canon like they had to have had at least one promotion.

Sam loves the rain. This is a fairly simple one, but I hold it dear to my heart. As an extension, I headcanon that vamps can go outside during the day when it's stormy out. I'm actually writing a fic currently with Sam/Darlin' that is discussed in this ask answer that explores this idea.

I didn't want to have more than one Sweetheart headcanon but it's me are we expecting anything else? Anyway, Milo is the only serious relationship that Sweetheart has had. I haven't explored this idea much in my writing yet, but like it's true in my heart. Don't get me wrong, Sweetheart still had their occasional fling, because they're too hot not to, but I love the idea of Milo being the only one to stick around and actually put effort into their relationship. There will be a fic that explores this eventually, probably. Oh, and this so ties into my whole "Sweetheart is on the aspec" headcanon that I keep writing/raving about.

Now for someone I don't normally talk about but still love just as much: David. David learned all of his cooking skills from his father from a young age. It was his and Gabe's thing growing up, and it's how he learned to love it so much. As a proxy to this headcanon, I think that David didn't want to cook after Gabe's death for a bit. He just lost interest in it after all the memories he's made around the act. However, as he learned to cope with his dad's death, he learned to love cooking again. It brought on fond memories that stung less and less the more he cooked.

One last headcanon I have for y'all, Baabe is also pretty high on the corporate ladder. This technically goes for Angel as well, but like I'm predictable and won't be talking about that. I don't know what sparked this headcanon but I also love this one. Basically, any time I can make The Mates™ as super important I will. Especially if it's the power couples of David/Angel, Milo/Sweetheart, Asher/Baabe. There's just something that itches that scratch in my brain about this kinda headcanon.

This isn't so much a "headcanon" but there was, a while back, a small trend on tiktok about Traitor Sweetheart and I ran with it. There's a whole storyline behind it and everything. I haven't worked on it in ages but it's still one of my favourite AUs.

Movik-Taar: Future proprietor of a very popular natural hot spring spa & inn on Vulcan. Husband of T’Meni-bu, Sek’s daughter. He’s self-conscious about his hair loss.

Movik is a braggart, a bit of a lia- exaggerator and a gigantic coward and T’Meni-bu knows that yet earnestly thinks he’s the best thing since sliced bread. I’d say she’s that ‘If I had a lame boyfriend-’ post but she genuinely doesn’t think he’s lame and would be defensive if you said he was. Sek thinks Movik is odious but tries to take solace in the fact that T’Meni finds him extremely pleasant. T’Meni and Movik were married before either of their pon farrs because T’Meni wanted to and both families saw no reason to delay if that was her wish. Movik wore a toupee to the wedding and was hesitant to take it off in front of her but when he did she just seemed weirdly charmed.  Movik has a Vulcan parental unit (mother, father) who sired him and another father who is Bolian. He has a Bolian younger sister who’s around elementary school aged.  He has a tendency to exaggerate his accomplishments but often quickly backpedals into the truth. He isn’t a malicious person and is actually a bit of a push over. Said he was going into Starfleet most of his life but when he was the age to apply he suddenly said he was going to take over his family’s inn instead.  T’Meni is very bad at doing actual work in the inn but very good at guest relations and trends which makes the inn even more popular. Movik showers her with attention and gifts so she’s perfectly content. Movik thinks she’s an extremely capable, intelligent person (an excellent match!!) and the two are absolutely insufferable together the way close couples are <3 

#T'Meni-bu is Sek's daughter and the 'bu' is a childish form of like 'junior' #It's like 'little T'Meni' #The conversation that was in my head when I came up with Movik-Taar was thus: #(all the furniture in a guest's room is gone for some reason) #Movik: Ah. I will ask my wife her opinion on the matter - she is quite sharp. (he goes to get her) #(T'Meni looks around the room very seriously) T'Meni:...Movik. This room has no furniture. #Movik: (nodding earnestly) That was my assessment as well. What do you think could have caused it? #T'Meni: (thinks) ....Perhaps someone has taken it. #Movik: (nodding - so proud) My thoughts exactly. But why? #T'Meni:...Perhaps someone had taken all the furniture in THEIR room. #Movik: (faintly alarmed) This cannot continue. If the trend continues along that vein there may be only one furnished room in the inn. #Guest: C a nyou two like...c all someone???
