OKAY. SO. another dumb cross-over au in which benb takes the role of an entirely different cosmic horror. in this case, a massive subterranean superorganism that a certain research facility found buried in the new mexico desert while they were expanding the underground parts of the facility. here’s some chunks of the discord chat from last night where we had fun brainstorming about this:

S: Consider Benr flesh pit Like thingrey on steroids R: Lol! That's a really fun idea. Like one day Benr wakes up and, ugh what's this thing in his throat? A research facility? The hell? Cuddle: don't you just hate it when you take a long nap and wake up and some micro organisms have turned your innards into a resort. eugh, they're even getting randy in there, grosssss. he feels so violated. R: I mean fair XD Cuddle: "you've been doing what with my bodily fluids??" S: LOL R: In a hlvrai AU, would it be a resort like in the original unfiction? Or Black Mesa? Or both? Cuddle: black mesa, upon expanding the underground parts of the facility, come upon... very clearly living tissue. huh. he's no where NEAR as massive as the MFP, but still big enough that the scientists just can't help but find a way to poke around in there... R: Ah, they found him while trying to dig to the center of the earth. S: Tommy would be ecstatic. Cuddle: theoretically he's 'small' enough for them to dig out, but they're hesitant to, due to the way he's got all his self positioned, any activity from him could cause a lot of damage to the facility. somehow they'd managed to completely avoid running into parts of this giant fleshbeast's body when digging down until now. so yeah, no wakey the underground horror. and since they can't take it out, obviously the logical thing to do here is go in. R: I can't believe Black Mesa is supposed to be the sensible science facility. This sounds like a Cave Johnson move Cuddle: well they're the "sensible" ones in the regular half-life and portal 'verse. not so much in the vrai verse, as we've seen. the pita cutting room. skull grinding facility. vats of radioactive sludge that's allegedly OSHA approved. R: Okay, you're completely right. R: Oh, so do they move the biological research wing down into the Benr section? That would put Tommy in a good place to make contact/be contacted? Maybe Benr starts to wake up and feels something kind of funky. He can't move around or he'll mess up his sweet lil' napping place, so he reaches out with his mind to try to figure out what's what. While he's poking around he accidentally brushes against someone else's mind. Tommy is pretty startled at first, but being the kind of guy he is, he just sort of rolls with it. That's how Benr finds out about BM, and also how he makes his first human adjacent friend. Shit! Well now he really can't move or he'll collapse the facility on Tommy! It's like a high stakes version of having a cat on your lap. Can't move, it's the law. W: I was considering Gordon being one of the people they send into the organic area to explore. Benrey feels something moving about and oh shit! Thats a little dude! Gordon's all kinds of wigged out by entering a living creature, but there's pressure from the higher ups to check it out. Benrey trying to find ways to talk to Gordon tho. Spooks him something good. Cuddle: OH I LIKE THAT. W: Idea! Benrey tries to examine Gordon and the human panics thinking he's been trapped by automatic functions. Slips into a weird pouch with more sensitive surface tissue and Benrey just studies him right back . Benrey doesn't have any Amorphous Shame or anything going on, but perhaps he has these strange things he refers to as Josh and Jefferem. Cuddle: pfffff or wait WAIT some kind of chitinous endoparasites like the abyssal copepods... but they look weirdly humanoid and also skeletal at a glance. flesh pit ben's version of his skeleton friends. W: Gordon finds one in a resting state and panics bc he thinks its a dead guy. Cuddle: but then it moves and "oh fuck that's a weird fucking bug-thing" W: Would they be independent entities or would they have some sort of mind link w Benrey. Im picturing it like. Benrey observes as Gordon travels through him, then gets an idea and signals the creatures to guide Gordon somewhere. Scares the hell out of the human, they end up kind of having to chase and corral him the way he needs to go. Cuddle: oh man, i like that less parasites, more symbiotes! Cuddle: i figure benrey being MUCH smaller [than the OG pit], he takes notices of these tiny critters [the researchers] much more easily (and also he's not straight-up asleep like the og pit). just chillin'! well maybe he was asleep at first, but then woke up when black mesa started poking around. he just didn't immediately start moving. W: Benrey gets tired of BMesa BS and either warms Gordon and friends to leave, or he calls them to come deeper into his body so he can shelter them. And then he moves. Burrows his way out, or uses reality breaking to leave. Either way, there's now kind of a massive chasm where he used to be! That entire facility on top of him is in pretty bad shape, no stability left. Cuddle: another thing to think about with this flesh pit benrey: colours [image: a notice sign from the MFP blog that reads "PROLONGED SKIN CONTACT WITH NERVOUS TISSUE MAY RESULT IN AN INCREASED COLOR PERCEPTION RANGE. THIS EFFECT IS TEMPORARY AND OFTEN DISSIPATES IN 8 TO 10 HOURS."] W: The amniotic fluid is replaced with SweetVoice. Cuddle: NICE. doesn't make you horny, but gives you VERY strong emotions. sometimes ones that aren't even yours! (they're his) pink sweet voice is the kind they harness to put into that valentine soda :P R: Well Darnold would know all about that. Holy crap there is actually a legit reason for a mixology department. Cuddle: YES in which darnold also knows how to read the sweet voice, cause he works with it so much! W: Consider Gordon losing his fear of the pit as Benrey communicates with him BM scientists can't perceive Benreys communication methods, they think Gordon is hallucinating. When they work out that Benrey is sapient, they think Gordon has been brainwashed or controlled. After all, who would willingly reenter that place. Cuddle: also thinking about how benrey could have a 'human' form.... maybe he can like, mesh some of himself with one of his skelebug guys, and shape it into a human (on the outside at least) form. can interact with the humans through this small piece of him, while the rest of him is still underground. W: Adding on to this idea. Gordon running for his life, unwittingly headed the way Benrey intended, and then he slips and falls into a pouch full of liquid. He's terrified that it's acid and enzymes, but then the liquid turns a deep blue, and he just goes boneless. Now that he's directly in a pouch that produces SweetVoice, Benrey can work on communicating with him. (It was suggested that Benrey had already managed to speak to Tommy, mind to mind. Maybe Tommy is far more sensitive to such things than Gordon, and thus Gordon needs a little work to establish communication) W: nother follow-up thought. Benrey's escape was not the most subtle thing. Anyone who witnesses it is terrified it means the world is ending. Then he just vanishes. BM is losing their shit, how do you lose an eldritch superorganism. Lucky for them he's not bent on armageddon, he just wants to vibe with his new friends.

1. Introduce your headmates/alters. How many are there? What are they all like?

So, there’s 26 of us, give or take 2, so I’ll try to give brief descriptions of everyone in order of when they split. Thank you for asking uwu

Blue is our host. He's the one we all refer to as the owner of the body. His form in the headspace shifts depending on his kinshift, but he’s usually presenting as an Underswap Sans fictive. He uses he/him pronouns a lot but he’s genderfluid and often doesn’t consider himself a man and appreciates being called a woman despite using he/him pronouns. Gender is confusing tyfugihop

Sam is the main protector/gatekeeper of our system. She’s been around the longest, she was the first that Blue was aware of when he noticed the system, and we all kind of look up to her. She’s a “take no shit” type of person and we’re all very grateful for her. She looks like a ghost and I don’t know how else to describe her iohguyfutd

Quadi is our main trauma holder. She rarely fronts and I have zero clue how to describe what she looks like. Nobody ever interacts with her in the headspace because she’s always in her room. If she fronts,, just send her love and support.

Shnep is.. well, I don’t actually know her role, to tell you the truth oiugfyt She looks like Walmart-brand Flame Atronach from Skyrim. She only gets to front if Sam lets her front and it’s a controlled environment. Loves to play videogames tho. Murder Mystery is her favorite cause she gets to let loose.

Watcher is our persecutor. He’s only gotten front, like, twice in the last year but he causes plenty of harm in the headspace. He can shapeshift and the only way we can tell it’s him is that his eyes will stay black. He’s been around just as long as Sam, but you can never find him unless he wants you to. Our protectors are good at keeping everyone safe.

Zane is our sexual protector/trauma holder. He stays in his room as well but we’re free to come visit him at any time. I don’t,, really know?? how to describe him?? He’s another shapeshifter but I personally haven’t interacted with him since I formed so I can’t tell you much ftuhiojn

Viper is a giant skeleton lamia and while I personally quake in fear, he’s a genuine sweetheart and he loves talking to people. He knows broken English but he doesn’t let that stop him. He actually went dormant shortly after forming and nobody knew he even formed until he woke up a year and a half later and everyone went “Huh?????”

Nightshade is an Error Sans fictive. He’s another one of our protectors and he’s really good at his job. To be more specific, he’s an avenger, he helps us deal with our abusers. He’s gotten over his haphephobia for the most part since splitting, though it flares up around strangers and honestly I don’t blame him.

Template is a Template Sans fictive lmao. creative nickname I know XD He’s a middle and Nightshade is fiercely protective of him. He loves to play videogames and draw. Ask him about Spyro or Pokemon ;) He keeps going in and out of dormancy so,, idk when he’ll front again but he always seems to have a good time when he does.

404 is a Blueberror fictive. He’s fairly impulsive and.. yknow, I want to say he’s impulsive, but the guy has so many amnesia barriers about his entire being that I can’t say it for certain. He’s a cryptid. You’ll never see him in the headspace unless you see one of his soft triggers and he has so few of those lmao (Our partner says he’s like Ghostbur but hyper, so take that as you will)

Gold is a Birdtale Sans fictive. He doesn’t like to talk unless you’ve gained his complete trust, or he’s alone. He’s very much a “body language is a universal language and it’s the only language in the universe I know” kind of guy. He tells great puns tho. He’s pretty chill. Apparently he formed like.. years ago?? And Sam had just been blocking him from the main area of our headspace for a really long time??

Squid is our Ink Sans fictive (are you seeing a pattern here? Hyperfixation go brrrr). He’s chaos but he can be pretty down to earth if he wants to be. He’s stuck in a state of constantly missing his old life, though. He loves to draw and leave long supportive chaotic comments on other people’s art. If he can’t draw, he gets anxious.

WDG is our Handplates Gaster fictive. His lab takes up the entire basement of the headspace mansion and half of it is just an entrance to the Void, which only he and Shard can access. He’s very analytical and emotionally and physically distant, but he’s really good at making sure the body is taken care of. He likes to document everything he does and when so it’s pretty easy to see what he did when he fronted. Terrified of his curiosity though, that skeleton loves science way too much.

Shard and Sunshine are a subsystem Shattered!Dream fictive. Sunshine is really sweet but very paranoid and sensitive. Shard is actually both a persecutor and a protector. Kind of a.. “Nobody gets to hurt this system except me” kind of vibe, yknow? He’s been working hard to reform though because he hurt our partner once and felt really bad. He’s come a long way ^^

Viola is an Underswap Sans fictive, but she split from a fanfiction called By the Angel (it’s nsfw if you look it up, but it’s got a great plot lol). She’s actually transgender since her fic has her as he/him and we’re very supportive of her <3 She’s.. I don’t know how to describe her other than she’s got an old soul and a old-fashioned way of speaking. She loves to listen to kulning videos. Swedish culture really vibes with her.

Drake is a fictive from a really old Minecraft roleplay called The Haunted. He’s half Enderman and he can do magic. He’s kind of timid and his anxiety is always through the roof. He gets hella dysphoric when he fronts and often has headaches and we’re?? not sure?? if he’s a subsystem or not??? with Herobrine??????? He won’t tell anyone if he is or not, he just dodges the question.

*inhale* Pinky is a vampire Ink Sans fictive. He’s what would happen if you gave a vampiric opossum a bigger body lmao. He’s incredibly mischievous (and a tad selfish, if you ask me) and likes to cause pranks at the worst times. He adores our partner though.

TB is a Technoblade fictive/factive. Both?? It’s hard to tell with him. He looks like a twunk piglin and behaves like one too. He’s taken on the role of protector recently, though, and he monitors any new splits until we’re sure they’re not going to hurt the body or any relationships with other folks. He likes to talk about piglin culture a lot. (he kins Billiam and it’s entertaining to watch him call everyone peasants and poor when we too are in fact poor)

Phil is our Philza fictive. He’s the dad friend of the system, the caretaker. He takes a very neutral stance on things and will often refuse to step into a fight, but he will try to calm folks down. I can’t tell you how much of a comfort he is. He loves to talk about his past life and his little family, though he gets sad about it sometimes.

Ghost is our Ghostbur fictive. He loves pranks and he’s very sweet. He has so much blue, you would not believe. He’s such a softy and loves to make people smile. He either hangs around TB, Phil, or Theo and he doesn’t usually front alone. He does have Alivebur shifts but he essentially just gets really edgy and depressed in a sort of self destructive way, but he’s still soft. He just tells really wild jokes and he’s a lot more impulsive.

SNL/Space Heater (he doesn’t have a good nickname yet) is our Sapnap factive/fictive. He really enjoys front but he doesn’t really get much done when he fronts tfuygiuhoip He just reads fanfiction lmao. He loves Dadboyhalo and Dreamnap content. He’s a pretty chill guy, doesn’t get into a lot of fights. He just wants to have fun.

Theo is our protege!Tommy fictive. He actually split from the popular fic Rewind and he’s just been.. vibing? He gets along well with Sapnap most of the time but he’s had a lot of trouble warming up to TB, Phil, and Ghost. I think he enjoys front?? He fronts often enough. I don’t know how to describe him except that he’s very Tommy-like lmao

Fakier is our newest split. He’s an ARG Wilbur fictive. He doesn’t like to talk too much about himself but he loves to infodump about codes and cryptic stuff like that. He’s actually done a lot with taking care of the body and taking long walks outside and just, enjoying life. He did leave the windows open on a really cold day tho and our apartment hasn’t been warm since :\ He seems cool, I’m just annoyed that my fingers and toes are freezing off lmao /hyperbole

We’ve had a few integrate over the past two years so it’s hard to keep track of how many there are for sure, but that should be everyone. that day you accidentally sleep in after a late night and walk into your lecture looking pretty trashier than you would normally a few weeks into the first sem and you’re already tired it’s okay bby aww

and mark suggests skipping the next lecture and going for coffee instead

you’re like ok lmfao free coffee for me yay thanks marcus i owe you one

and to make up for the lecture he suggests he join you and your roommate with his own roommate in the library later that day to study the material you’d missed out on

so you’re like sweet study group hell yeah and apparently his roommate is also in biomed like your roommate? hey they might get along pretty well it’d be nice to have roommates in the same faculty hey

mark takes you to a cafe to buy you your favourite drink and a croissant bc you skipped breakfast again and he cares about his friends ok plus he was eyeing that donut next to the savoury menu in the glass cabinet and he would have felt bad if he got something to eat and you didn’t

you sit down, sipping your drink at the window seats and wishing your fatigue away

laughing with mark about what you slept so late for

after you’d gotten her to sleep, you’d gotten major feels for an essay question that you’d been tasked with due in a week but you hadn’t touched it until last night

staring at the prompt for at least half an hour trying to get your head around it and wondering what the hell you’d write about

but like they say

starting is half of it

so when you start spinning your words and getting into the writing mood

you accidentally wrote an entire draft without realising

albeit being full of loose ends and points you need to refine, etc., it was a decent body of work that you’d tackle for a few more nights before turning in

a skeleton, you’d called it

you know how mark’s laugh is very how do i put this into words hm dictated

you can HEAR each HA and they’re separate syllables yet sometimes they can vary in tone and length right it’s usually the more consistent HAs before he kinda loses it and starts throwing himself around

it was that laugh

honestly man finds everything funny his laughing threshold seems so low

and no matter how unfunny you are he WILL laugh at anything you say

and you’ve been doing it a lot lately

you could say literally any random thing and he’d already be ready to laugh (see Figure 1.1)

so after you finish up your breakfast at the cafe you go back to your dorm to take a power nap and recharge before your library session you were going to stay awake but mark forces you to take a nap and you’re like bro you just fed me caffeine now you want me to sleep??

then he tells you he ordered your drink decaf

you turn to him real slow

“.. you sick traitor. how dare you besmirch my name so. you scorn my forefathers and our dependence on the holy bean’s juices. betrayal runs rampant in your soul and mine stands at the mercy of your choices, them informed by the devil himself”

mark: /shrug/ “placebo effect yeet. hey, it worked for a bit. now you should really go home and get your sleep”

and he drags you back to your dorm and waves you off before going to his next class

you’re lowkey grateful for it tho when you take a shower and collapse onto your bed, falling asleep in what you think could be half the time you usually take

dreaming about losing your airpods and mark yelling at you to be more careful and then you two fighting bc you’d just lost your $300 bean sprouts but you could have sworn he took them

then police sirens went off out of nowhere and both of you were being arrested for assault and thievery

why you were the one being arrested, you had no idea but it’s a dream nothing follows the guidelines of hard reality anyway

just as you’re about to be handcuffed, you think to yourself, nope. i have a library session to attend. ain’t nobody got time for this shit

and you just

wake up

but the sirens are still continuing?? so you’re like ? is my building surrounded

they’ve come for me

even though you haven’t exactly broken any laws or have you

and you realise it was the alarm you’d set in time to get ready for your library session

so you grab your stuff and leave for the library, double checking with your roommate over text to make sure she was on her way

her lab class was taking longer than usual so she tells you she’ll be 10 or so minutes late

so you tell her you’ll be saving a seat for her and call mark to let him know you’re on your way to the library

“oh i’m already here lol. alright, i’m waiting for you outside”

and sure enough, you see him leaning on the wall of the entrance, eyes on his phone

you consider calling out to him but before you actually do, he glances up and spots you walking over tf do you have psychic spatial awareness mark

smiles and takes his corded earphones out

“you seriously need to upgrade those”

“they work fine”

“nop i’m getting you airpods for your birthday”

“dUdE thEy’RE tOo ExPEnSiVe. nO dUDE NoO”

you speed walk to claim it even though there was no one else in your vicinity to threaten your territory

mark laughs at you trying to get to the table as fast as you could without all out running

getting out your things, you send a photo of your seat to your roommate and tell mark to send it to his roommate as well so they know where to find you

you start watching the lecture online while taking notes and since you’re not in the lecture theatre you can talk more audibly with mark not that you don’t talk in the actual lecture too,,

maybe you do text a lot,,, during class

mark usually says things like “.. implications of what now?? interpretation of huh?” to which you reply “i want cheese when i get home”

and he has to stifle his laughter while you keep your straight face and continue writing your notes he admires this ability ngl

and so while you’re watching it on your computer

you can say things like “fuck. i want pickles”

and mark will /throw himself back/ and cackle and probably say some shit like “DIDN’T YOU HATE PICKLES??” between his giggles

and you’re like “yeah. fuck pickles but like. fuck. pickles”

he almost falls off his chair at this point

but when he balances himself again he spots someone down the corridor and wave them over

“oii! over here dude”

you turn to glance at them to expect his roommate, but you see your own roommate talking to someone and wave her over as well

“heYY my/n”

you see the other person turn to your roommate and tell her something, , then she says something back

which is apparently shocking to them, because he glances over at mark and then at you

and then he looks again when your roommate points straight at you

to which you’re like ?? hi? y u look me

and then they both start laughing

you wonder if they were laughing at you or smth until mark’s like “tf is that idiot doing”

and u look at him like ? what idiot

“that idiot. the idiot roommate i told u about. the one who called u a homewrecker”

and you’re like

“that’s your roommate?” u point at the boy next to my/n, who r both still laughing at something going all “wOW r u KIDDING” he has a loud voice

“k but i’ll keep her on the weekends. you see her on the weekdays”

then he wipes his smile off his face and he’s like “who said we’re split”

mark and my/n are doing the /MANIACAL LAUGHTER/ at this point

mark: “so ,, seriously what are the chances”

Ref of the shared Emily/Afton house I made last month but forgot to post smh

This is a general reference for my version of “canon” but I mostly made it for the Were!AU lol

extra detail maps under cut

AIGHT, first and foremost, a room breakdown

Above ground:

1. Front entrance, p basic there

2. Living room - a small step down, X-tra Large™ sofa and love-seat cozy around a (heavily worn) wooden coffee table, all face towards a two story stone fireplace

3. Kitchen - warm light floods through the dining room windows and a radio loudly sings a bouncy tune, one of the happier rooms of the house

4. Dining room - another small step down, open wall to the kitchen

5. Back entrance - leads to a nice covered porch

6. Guest Bathroom - Mostly the kids’ bathroom, always a mess

7. Laundry room - so much laundry

8. Side entrance - mostly used for taking out the trash (or sneaking out)

9. “Guest” bedroom - Henry and Bonnie’s room, Henry has a work desk in there but it’s rarely used since he does most of his work at night

10. Basement Staircase - only a little dark and scary

11. Second floor staircase - William commonly falls asleep here, completely blocking them lmao

12. small railed overhang open to the living room below, popular pillow fort location, many toys have been dropped from here

13. the Boys’ room - Nicolas and Sammy share this room, there a very distinct line between love and hatred of Fazbear’s dividing the middle of this room

14. the Girls’ room - Liz and Charlie share this room, they get along much better than any of the other kids, tho Charlie can get a bit tired of Liz’s antics

15. Master suite - William and Angela used to share this room, William doesn’t come in here much anymore, the kids will only use the bathroom in here if its urgent, otherwise they avoid it, if for no other reason than the adults and Michael being weird about it

Below ground: Note; Basement 1 has small windows all around the perimeter

16. Game room - lots of toys and video games litter this room, and the occasional game cabinet in need of testing before being added to Fredbear’s

17. Michael’s “room” - actually requested to move in down here when it started getting too claustrophobic (and loud) for him upstairs

18. Storage - mostly for seasonable decor but who even knows whats in here

19. Workshop 1 - William and Henry’s work space for developing blueprints, molds, and costume parts. Henry’s desk is against the wall, while Will’s is free standing in the middle, all desk space along the east and south walls is covered in parts, fabrics, ongoing projects, and papers. the entire room is littered with old coffee mugs and empty flasks

20. Workshop 2 - Will and Henry’s work space for actual robotics, tall storage racks line the south wall, a couch used far more frequently than either of their beds, a large tank and a cage rest against the east wall... just in case

None of the kids are allowed down here, partially from potential danger, partially so they don’t learn about the extra bathroom they’ve hidden here

21. Shhh - honestly nothing more than glorified hole under the house at this point, the barest skeleton of an elevator shaft hides here

And now just for fun, a map of where William and Henry are supposed to sleep vs where you’ll actually find them passed out 99% of the time

I feel like talking about how I first started learning how to draw babeyyy

SO like most people I technically started drawing when I was like 2 and someone gave me a crayon or some finger paints or something but I mean all kids will draw if you let 'em (which you should qwq), like at that age kids just draw a circle and like two lines and they say it's turtle and yer like fuck yeah kid that sure is a turtle and it's GREAT and a fun time for everyone involved

But I don't think I can really consider that like, actively pursuing experience and knowledge in drawing, and that's not a bad thing! When I was 2 I didn't have time to learn stuff like that I was too busy trying to figure out how conversations worked ahsgdhsbs

But yeah I drew a lot since I was a toddler, but didn't really actively try to learn how to draw until I was in like grade three and starting to finally gain sentience and self awareness as a human being qwq I think I woulda been like 8? 9? 7? I dunno orz

So my elementary school was pretty garbage in a lot of ways but there was one month in grade three that was really neat, once a week during lunch time some guy, I think he was an animator or an illustrator or something? Probably was a local dude, he came in the library to do some short tutorials for all these 7 year olds about how to draw and there was one specific lesson that stuck with me, and kinda shaped how I learned to draw agdhsgdhs

Trapezoids....... irregular trapezoids................... With these godly shapes, you can draw.... ANIMALS

SO like a horse like this?

Made outta irregular trapezoids, babes

So like you start with a fairly large one in the middle of yer page that's usually longer on one side than the other, I tend to make the left longer 'cause in right handed but it really just depends on which way you want yer horse to face:

Then you get another of these weird trapezoidal shapes and rotate it about 90 degrees, attaching it to the long side, maybe slant a little? Almost parallelogram-y lol

THATS A NECK BABY now it's head time, this trapezoid feels a lot more like a classic one than an irregular polygon

Legs......two long trapezoids that go thinner at the bottom:

It's ready.....the horse is here.....you just have to carve him out now

Reference photos come in handy here! The trapezoids are really just an introduction to construction shapes/guidelines (like how so many artists start drawing a head by drawing a circle) and simplified skeletons ahsgshs

I didn't draw the other legs as a kid 'cause ...I was 8 BUT here's some more legs

You can draw other animals too by changing the size of the trapezoids! I was best friends with a horse girl so that’s why my go-to tends to be horse jdksdds Here's a cat (shoulda made it’s torso slightly longer tho orz) and a dog and the trapezoids I used to make 'em

I started segmenting the legs into more trapezoids here, which is based off references of cats and dogs and their skeletons, if yer interested in drawing mammals I’d recommend looking into other mammal skeletons and comparing how they look with human skeletons! like how short our foot bones are compared to the same bones on dog (they walk on the equivalent of our toes lol), that kinda stuff is really fun to look into I think~ There's obviously flaws with this approach, you can only draw animals in the profile, and using polygonal shapes like irregular trapezoids can sometimes make things a little stiffer or inorganic looking than if you used softer, rounder guidelines like circles and bean shapes, but i do think it’s useful for how 1) its a pretty fast, easy way to get started on learning about construction shapes, 2) it can be useful for people who have trouble with curved shapes (such as: 8 year old me, 20 year old me, etc), and 3) you get to draw some fun aminals..,.. many artists focus on learning pure fundamentals when trying to teach someone who’s never drawn before, and while fundamentals are super important and useful, they can also be boring as ssHIET and that can often discourage interested parties qwq and i mean it might technically be Better to learn from life drawing instead of learning through how to draw anime books, or tracing sonic characters, or drawing animals made of trapezoids, but the latter options are way more fun, and having fun while drawing is, in my opinion, one of the most important things for a really beginner artist, you’ve got all this time once yer at a more intermediate skill level and you’ve got the motivation to practice fundamentals, as a beginner i think just figuring out what feels good and makes you wanna keep drawing is perfectly good~

SORRY I RAMBLED anyway i dunno maybe this thing i was taught in grade 3 by a local artist might be useful for someone? or maybe not hjkdssjzdsk either way it might explain a bit about why i draw the way i do qwq

#art #of course there are steps between these trapezoid animals and how i draw now #i later got really into stickfreeks youtube animated series Fairy Foxes which got me into drawing furries lol #(and their style is obviously influenced by sonic especially in the early episodes so in turn #despite never actually playing a sonic game until last year i was technically influenced by sonic hfkjdslfkl #a classic way to start drawing furries)#and then i watched FMA (2003 cause brotherhood wasnt out yet lol) and became the weeb i am now #and watched a bunch of mark crilley tutorials and started learning how to draw humans lol #and somewhere between that i think i got inspired by online artists who were inspired by tim burton and jhonen vasquez type styles? pointy #and my art has changed constantly and changes even now lol #i dunno man its all just fun~

Here for the moment, the little one is being very fussy this evening. I think my favourite scene was in the night terror in chapter 2, where we just had the glowing eyes - and then Mandy's glowing hand. Creepy and atmospheric.

QUESTION 2. Dreams seem to be central to the story at hand. How do you interpret Elliot’s latest dream? Was it a dream, or was it something more? Whose birth did Elliot supposedly witness, and what exactly is it hungering for? Who is the black wolf that delivers the warnings to Elliot, and why is Elliot the one tasked with helping to defeat whatever the wolf is warning him about? Additionally, if this is no simple dream, why doesn’t Elliot remember this supposed event? Last but not least, what do you make of Elliot’s appearance change within the dream, and what do you think the meaning of the lantern is?

I don't think it's a nightmare on elm street kind of thing, because Crystal Lake was dropped as a reference, so these sorts of things already exist in the characters' universe.

So uh, first actual post I guess. This is all random dumps (taken from my instagram stories, so they’re formatted weird lol) of symbols and things associated with Simon. I’ve never seen anyone do this for him before so mwahaha I guess I’m the first >:3c. Sorry if this is kinda just a random stream of words, I’m just getting a bunch of thoughts down and anyone can use this information for theories, art, story analysis, and etc later d(^^ ).

The first one is a bunch of possibility important references, primarily things from HoD, but also a couple from OoE and the Hanged Man Skeletons, which are explained a bit more in the second and third image. There’s a couple details I didn’t have the space for oof (T_T ). If I remember correctly, the Smiling Statue is found in the area where the Hellmont enemies are. I’m not exactly sure if there’s any significance to any of the statue placements, but they’re definitely supposed to be a Carmilla and Simon reference, not sure on who the Sage statue is supposed to be tho. My best guess is maybe Death since he’s the other Simon’s Quest boss lol, but the statue really doesn’t look like him. It’s interesting. The Hero statue is very obvious, Juste gets the little flavor text that “that’ll be me someday” kinda referencing how Simon looked up to Christoper in a similar way (yes, Christopher, he is mentioned in the first manual in Japan I believe, I should talk about him eventually). The whole Hellmont/Shimon thing is nuts and idk why it’s just never mentioned again. Like the name Simon has the ability to be a pun in Japanese on “Death Gate/Gates of Death” which is 1. Badass and 2. Ominous as heck! I also didn’t get to fit in the random family heirloom clock that’s in ghost Dracula’s castle for some reason in HoD, the one that has the nice description of having been “bought on the day your grandfather was born” (not an exact quote word for word but yeah). It feels significant to me idk, why would family heirlooms end up in there? Also didn’t mention the Bullet Tip (called “Christopher’s Soul” in Japan), but that one’s interesting too.

Also I wasn’t able to fit the OoE and Simon’s Quest maps on there so I might make a post about comparing them later :3. That Anna girl could be talking about someone else, but considering the similarities and references to Simon and his games in the rest of OoE (which I also should explain if I can manage to get it all together) it’s safe to assume she’s having nightmares of one of Simon’s fights against Dracula. Which is also interesting in the context that her whole side quests revolve around helping her cat protect her from dark spirits.

I know this wiki isn’t the most reliable source, but I’ve seen other sources that claim the skeletons on the outer wall of SotN and DoS (I believe) are supposed to be a reference to the whip swinging in CV4. It’s really interesting that they’d make a reference to Simon by having the skeletons be hung by one foot like the hanged man is commonly depicted considering the meanings behind that card, but since the position of the skeleton is pretty much the same in both, it’s probably intentional.

The last Chronicles one is kinda based on the assumption that these are rose thorns, but when looking up thorn symbolism a looooot of the specific red rose symbolism kinda started to line up really well. Roses also have a lot of religious significance too so I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a stretch to say they were rose thorns. Chronicles is not the first time flowers have been mentioned with Simon in mind however, I couldn’t fit it anywhere, but the Japanese text for the fastest Simon’s Quest ending mentions he “brought full blown flowers in next spring”, just a fun fact tho, idk how to add it into anything here tbh (-w-; ).

What was the most interesting about this dive into random symbols and other details was how often things ended up symbolizing “self sacrifice” and/or “martyrdom”! Usually twice or thrice wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but considering the vague nature of all the Simon’s Quest endings in all versions of the game and the general lack of focus on Simon’s story aspect, it’s pretty cool to see some things that line up like that :O! Also I am thoroughly aware that I might just be looking to deep into things and connecting things and aren’t there, but I don’t really care cause I had fun!!! :3 Anyway, do with this knowledge what you will, hope you guys like it.

hiya!! haha i hardly feel i’m an experienced enough skelebro artist to answer this question, but i’m going to try my best to explain how i go about it!!

first off i wanna start with this: there’s no REAL way to “get it right”. the sprites from the original game leave a bit up to interpretation and give plenty of room for artistic freedom! (and the au bros are fanmade, so that’s like, dOUBLE artistic freedom!) the tricky (yet fun!) part comes with them not *really* being shaped like real skeletons, so ppl have to improvise!

1. references and practice are your best friends!!!! (my first drawings of sans and paps look NOTHING like they do today since i ended up drawing and practicing with them soso much). i generally like to search “skeleton anatomy” or “skeletal system” in google images for my refs and use something liiiiike: https://smhttp-aww-17174.nexcesscdn.net/media/catalog/product/cache/9/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/A/W/AWW_CH03.JPG

that to help me out! while sans and paps and their au variants are not shaped 100% like a traditional skeleton, you still need a pretty decent understanding of how the skeleton looks so that you can play around with it and adjust it as you see fit when drawing a specific character. i also like to reference other artists!! if i’m stuck and not sure how to go about something, sometimes i’ll look at the way other artists interpreted certain characters and draw inspiration from that! for example, some artists draw orange with downward slanting eyes to make him look more sleepy/lazy/depressed and i liked the way that looked so i adopted that as well! and in regards to papyrus types….

2. pick your papy poison. LOL this title is way more dramatic than it should be and honestly i just wanted the alliteration :P BUT what i mean here is papyrus body types are typically the hardest to draw (at least for me) and part of the reason is THE LITERAL HUNDREDS OF WAYS YOU CAN INTERPRET THAT MOUTH!!! seriously, this has caused me my fair share of anxiety and frustration. SO what i like to do is mix it up. when i said in the beginning that you have artistic freedom to do whatever you wanted, i meant it. you don’t have to keep drawing papy’s mouth consistently at all if u don’t wanna, it all depends on what you’re working on and how u feel (generally tho i keep it consistent within the same work but across separate pieces it’s okay to mix it up). when i’m drawing someone like us paps, i usually like to give him a big ol sansy smile, especially when facing the front. it’s simple and fast, and it doesn’t look bad! you can also give him jaw space or even draw his mouth like papyrus’ in undertale (tho with my style i find that looks odd more often than not)

here’s a pic of two mouth types! (sorry it’s messy and there’s not a lot, I rushed since i have to wake up early tomorrow!)

generally i make us paps’ face pretty dull and rectangular, and the same goes for ut paps! edgy bros like edge and sf papyrus get much more angular and sharpened features, and this can especially be seen in the cheekbones. here’s an older doodle of mine of sf paps from the side

sharp puppy. but yeah! edge bros get pointed chins and jaws and non-edgy boys get softer features. you can do whatever feels best for you though!!

i should wrap this up soon since it’s pretty late but another important thing to consider is:

3. body types. i prefer to draw my sanses a bit on the rounder/chubby and short side and my papyruses on the lanky side. that said, this is where the skeleton references and familiarity become important so you can stretch or compress bones to fit your body type needs without it looking too strange! feel free to add thicker bones onto the sanses if you wanna go for that heavier set look, but keep tabs on your proportions. it helps to draw a rough skeleton (lol) of your pose which includes thickness of the body and placement/length of limbs and posture. if you have trouble drawing chub sometimes like i do, look up some refs! they’ll help out a lot.

what i do sometimes is i’ll draw a humanish body outline, and fill the bones in on the inside! it’s what i did for orange in the kissy requests. he had a fleshed out neck before i erased it so i could see how the positioning of it would work. that’s also my method for hands. kudos to the artists that draw skeletal hands realistically. that is too many bones for me to worry about LOL. what i do is i make a sort of…hand bone?????? i’ll explain. i draw a regular hand and then add lines where the bones would be. pls pretend this isn’t the worst hand you’ve ever seen

so it’s not really how bones work, but it’s simple and it’s what i’m accustomed to. (hint: fingerless gloves are hot and get rid of a lot of your problems with this ;) )

i’m gonna have to end this here but overall, HAVE FUN WITH IT DUDE!!! these characters are hella fun and full of personality! they’re a joy to draw and the less you worry about getting it perfect and just going at it and practicing, the better you’ll become! a good tip for this is doodling! non serious doodling where you don’t feel pressure to make something come out right and can make a ton of mistakes helps you to gain a kind of muscle memory and better perception of how things should look and feel when you draw them. it’s so important to let yourself make mistakes, because you’ll learn from them and get AWESOME at it! good luck to you, my friend, i hope this helped!! <3 <3 <3

today’s zeldablogging which is full of spoilers:

the sight of my new sword sends a thrill into my heart tbh

if i ever replay this game, which tbh idk if i will, it's so Big, SS was only a third or a quarter of this size and i've only beaten it twice, im going to get it as soon as possible next time

anyway im back at the tower i suppose i'll crawl down and check out the enemies properly

i dont like gliding to towers i've discovered bc it feels like i've been plopped down into the middle of nowhere with no context

vs if i walk to them i know "where" i came from/am, if that makes any sense

(it doesn't)

i can see that flying thing closer than ever from here and it's DEFINITELY a divine beast no doubts left

yk tho. i dont WANNA check out the enemies. i wanna find that weird blanked out place at the top of my map!

i'm so anxious to get to the end of the game and uncover the plot im gonna be like "FUCK EXPLORING" for the rest of it and only go to the places i need, now that i've got this map

i can always do more thorough exploration after, i've been spoiled that there's postgame content, but even if there's not like any other zelda game it'd put me right back before the final battle

god im having to go ALL THE WAY AROUND the lost woods i can't even glide over the nearby river to make the path shorter i bet there's an easier way to do this from the other side but i havent been there yet

aww, i don't see beedle here...i was sure he'd be at everyone, i don't think i've encountered one where he isn't yet...

i'll be honest, i've grown kind of bored of combat

and know i'm biased but i genuinely i don't think it's me, i think it's the game's difficulty/"difficulty"

i used to see monster camps and think STRATEGY, is there a beehive, barrels to blow up, a place i can glide down from, this is so fun!

which gradually morphed into "okay this is gonna be a bit of a long haul but there'll be Treasure and sniping from afar is still fun"

idk if the black bokoblins/moblins/etc show up after you've done more things or bc of the area you're in but i'm noticing more enemies with more health, higher defense, and higher attack, and the barrels/metal boxes/beehives/etc becoming rarer, and when they do appear, being almost pointless to use because you're more likely to blow yourself up than do any real damage to the mobs

and like i love this game. it absolutely deserves every bit of its raid reviews, and this feeling COULD just be because i've been marathoning it for 12 straight days and i'm anxious to see the end and get back to my life

but to me, attacking a flat area full of black moblins and bokoblins isn't fun even with the stealth/snipe element bc you can't take them out in 1-3 shots, you have to stop and slash at them, and that alerts EVERYONE else, and it's just pointless

(lol i found some flat ruins by the stable which triggered this rant)

like, even the yiga clan hideout - my instinct was to snipe the enemies as i went, which would have made it a bit more fun imo, even though the stealth bit wasn't bad and i enjoyed that section quite a lot

i just don't like the—idk a better term for it unfortunately—"fake difficulty" thing where you just have to slog your way thru 1000s of random battles, i don't like it in rpgs either

kind of like almost wherever i explored at first i would run into minibosses rarely and then almost constantly

which, yeah, most of them aren't as hard now, But Still, it's the point of the thing

maybe i'm a bit defensive about "real gamer" bullshit and "women can't game" stereotypes while being super bad at games my whole life while my brother was fantastic at them

but like i just don't find that fun?? sure a good challenge once in awhile like eventide isle would be fine (even tho that was hellish and i'll never do it again) but that should be. every once in awhile, not. EVERYWHERE

anyway

frankly @ this point i'm REALY tempted to speed thru it before my surgery

bc i would hate to be laid up in bed and still have to worry about mobile browsing bc botw spoilers and tumblr's interface being awful

anyway i can;'t travel further in this direction without getting over near rito/hyrule field territory

and not only are those towers further away than i'd like but i wanted to do gerudo highlands first so back to the desert i go i guess rip

most displeasure i find with it now is because "AAAH ZELDA AT SOME POINT I NEED TO GET BACK TO MY FUCKING LIFE"

i'm so worried about spoilers and being behind now that some of the fun is draining away

i think after a bit of time has passed i'll either go back and finish exploring properly or straight up start a new file

and do it Thoroughly

when i can relax and go at my own pace instead of feeling like i'm racing the internet, my dashboard, my friends, my brother, etc

this region is soooo cold and i am so certain i'll get better cold gear in the rito area that im just activating the shrines and not even going inside to use my little food as efficiently as possible

AWW tysm! Tbh though I get the struggle. I hated all paints for the longest time because I also had no idea how to use brushes and control the amount of water I used and ended up with shapeless blobs or super runny pics (also I’ve never actually learned how to paint or draw…a couple of short lessons when I was really little, a month(?) of lessons around last year or the year before, that’s pretty much it. So idk how to do things really lol). But I sorta-recently got obsessed with watercolor paintings (SO PRETTY) and that’s why I started ‘practicing’ (AKA watching/reading a bunch of tutorials and trying my best to remember the few things I actually learned XD). I still can’t draw stuff just with watercolors though, I need to do a light pencil sketch and then color with paint.

OK that sounds so cool but problem: My phone is a super old flip phone that I’ve had since I was eight(?), so mobile games are a no XD and my parents probably wouldn’t buy me anything that costs money (they let me play simple free RP games and dating games on the internet since those are usually fairly innocent (I mean, it’s plot/character-based stuff, almost like a manga) but not anything too 'big’ you know? If I was old enough to buy games like that with my own money I don’t think they’d care tho, as long as I didn’t get obsessed with games or anything.)

Also just realized that I’m stupid and apparently forgot that I don’t have Steam. I was going to install it but can I ask you exactly what it is/how it works, first? I’m just kinda worried about randomly installing this since I don’t quite get it yet ^^;; (sorry I can be really, really stupid when it comes to stuff like this)

THAT’S SO CUTE. Let me recommend you a game too- a free RPG/Dating game called Ascension by ImpQueen! No download, you just go to ImpQueen and play it. There are three(?) chapters. The first chapter might not be that interesting compared to other games, but the game and the story keep getting more complex as you go on :D you also get new dateable characters every chapter and the MC, Aida, is AWESOME. Also, in chapter two and three you can actually customize the main cast’s appearances, like you’d do in a dress-up game! Another cool thing is that you get different 'personality points' depending on the things you say/do, and the amount of points you have for a certain personality can change the outcomes of certain situations.

It’s also really fun because other than the romance, the plot and Aida’s journey is super interesting too.

Funny thing is I thought I liked physical contact (like cuddling, hugging, hand-holding) but turns out that’s not the case XD I get super awkward when anyone who’s not my mom, dad, or my little sister/younger cousin touches me. Tbh the only person I feel comfortable with cuddling anytime, anywhere is my little sister because she’s still smol LOL

It’s definitely weird when people who aren’t that close with you try to hug you though. The only thing that can make it worse is if they gush about what a good, sweet child you are while doing it XD

Ah, that’s what makes it even more impressive! I mean, we had art in elementary school, but it was mostly the ‘learn stuff yourself’ kind of art. Needles to say, I didn’t learn a lot. But watercolours really are a nice way of painting, since they can have really vibrant colours, yet be serene at the same time. Most people I know who draw, watercolour or not, use sketches and references, so I don’t see anything wrong with that ^^ Just take your time to learn what you want ^^

Oh, I see! So, free, computer games for you… Well, right now, CP is the only one I can think of, but I’ll discover more in the future and share them with you when I do ^^ The only paid games I play are on my phone, since I’m too shy to ask my parents to but me otome games… I have 0 problems playing them on my own, but not a lot of people know that I play them.

Right, steam. It’s a gaming platform. Technically, it’s an app for the computer on which you can download games that are available in the steam store. Some are free, some are paid.

This is how the page looks. The little green button in the upper left corner is to download the app itself, and you’ll also need to create an account. You’ll need to give an email, but it’s only for account verification and to send you bills if you decide to buy anything. However, if you don’t buy anything, the email will mostly be useless after the verification. I mean, I don’t remember getting a spam email from them at all. After that, just go to the search bar, type Cinderella Phenomenon. And press play the game! It should automatically download the game to the steam app and you’re good to play ^^ No worries about asking questions! It’s actually admirable how you’re so careful around the internet ^^

I think it’s more of the ‘I like physical contact if I know the person and am close enough to them’ thingy. I mean, I have a few acquaintances who love hugs and I always shrink away from them, but with close friends, U’m sometimes the one who starts hugs. But you might also dislike contact in general, which is also fine, everyone has their own preferences ^^
