Putting the final coat on the Morris Stickley Mission chair replica. Just a few scoops of wax and then equal amounts of Danish oil and Turpentine with a 3M very fine abrasive. It will smooth any bumps down and leave a buttery feel. Enclosed photo of the left side done and right side untouched for comparison.

I am attempting to refinish/restain a dresser I bought at the thrift store. It is that ugly ass yellow wood but whatever is coating the drawer faces is made out of like liquid steel or something. Ive used a stripping agent THRICE to try and get the varnish or poly coat off and it WONT BUDGE. FRUSTRATION CENTRAL
Also the hardware guy convinced me to buy a walnut stain instead of an ebony and I HATED IT so I ended up going back for the ebony stain today. I know what I want and I am going to get what I want, and that is a dark stained dresser to fit the vibe of the room.
Pics of the dresser "before". I took out all the drawers before I remembered I wanted a before picture.
Most of the poly coat has been painstakingly scraped off from the drawer faces. (Took 6 fucking hours)
Tomorrow is sanding and HOPEFULLY staining the drawers. The day after will probably be stripping the body of the dresser and then sanding and staining it. Debating on whether I want to stain the sides of the drawers or just the faces

Kitchen Refacing vs Refinishing (Painting)
So, this has become a huge point of confusion for clients these days. Unfortunately, most folks who are looking at getting kitchen upgrades done do not understand the difference between the two.. in fact some are not even aware if there is any difference between the two!
Tumblr media
The truth of the matter is that there is a world of difference between the two.. here goes
Kitchen Cabinet Refacing is the process of completely removing the old doors and discarding them, then installing new  doors on kitchen cabinets and also panelling over the sides, kick plates and other fixed parts of the kitchen, giving the cabinets a completely new look from the outside. Yes in fact the kitchen is brand new from the outside, however when you open the doors and look inside, you will see you existing shelves and cupboard interiors. This process falls under the realm of carpentry and in addition to refacing, one can make changes and additions to the kitchen.
Refinishing on the other hand is a process of painting over the old doors and cabinet exteriors. This will only change the color of the kitchen and will not change the look of the doors or cover imperfections or mistakes in the construction of the kitchen cabinets. This process fall under the realm of painting and one cannot make changes and additions to the cabinetry.
Stay tuned because in my next blog, I will dive a bit deeper into these two options and explain the pros and cons of each of them!

When possible I prefer to scrape to remove the finish on a refinish project. With the right tools it can be just as fast as chemical strippers. This 6 ft table and two leaves took 2.5 hours to scrape and sand starting at 80 grit and ending with 120. Now to color match. #woodworking #finewoodworking #refinishedfurniture #refinishing #tablerestoration #bachotools https://www.instagram.com/p/CdFBrKGDyh8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Refresh Your Bathroom Oasis: Exploring the Benefits of Bathtub Refurbishment in UAE
In the comforting confines of our homes, the bathtub serves as a retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation. Yet, over time, the wear and tear of daily use can leave our tubs looking tired and worn. This is where bathtub refurbishment in UAE steps in—a revitalizing process that breathes new life into aging fixtures. In this article, we'll delve into the advantages and process of bathtub refurbishment in UAE, highlighting why it's a favored choice for homeowners seeking to revive their bathrooms.
The Simplified Process:
Bathtub refurbishment in UAE involves several essential steps aimed at enhancing both the appearance and functionality of the tub:
1. Surface Preparation: The bathtub undergoes thorough cleaning and preparation, ensuring a smooth base for the refinishing process by removing any existing coatings or imperfections.
2. Repair and Restoration: Chips, cracks, and scratches are meticulously repaired using specialized fillers and bonding agents to restore structural integrity and achieve a seamless finish.
3. Reglazing or Resurfacing: A high-quality enamel or epoxy-based finish is applied to the bathtub, creating a glossy and durable surface resistant to stains and scratches.
4. Customization: Homeowners have the option to customize the finish according to their preferences, whether opting for a classic white enamel or a more modern color.
5. Final Touches: The bathtub is sealed and left to cure, ensuring a watertight seal and allowing the finish to fully set before use.
Benefits of Bathtub Refurbishment in UAE:
Bathtub refurbishment in UAE offers numerous advantages for homeowners:
1. Cost-Effectiveness: It's a more affordable option than replacing the entire bathtub, providing a budget-friendly solution for refreshing the bathroom.
2. Time-Saving: Refurbishment can be completed relatively quickly, minimizing disruption to the homeowner's daily routine compared to extensive renovations.
3. Eco-Friendly: By refurbishing existing bathtubs rather than replacing them, homeowners can reduce waste and contribute to environmental sustainability.
4. Enhanced Aesthetics: Refurbishment rejuvenates the appearance of the bathtub, transforming it into a focal point of beauty and relaxation within the bathroom.
In conclusion, bathtub refurbishment in UAE offers a cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly solution for homeowners looking to rejuvenate their bathrooms. By restoring both the appearance and functionality of their bathtubs, homeowners can enjoy a renewed bathing experience without the expense and inconvenience of a full replacement. Whether aiming to update an aging bathtub or simply refresh its appearance, bathtub refurbishment in UAE stands as a compelling option for enhancing the home.

picked up some 80 grit sandpaper for the orbital and its making short work of the left over stain and finish. debating about pulling it apart and putting in tenons or just refinishing it as is on this Morris/Stickley Arts and Craft chair replica.
Comically I think of PKD's The Man in the High Tower. In the beginning of the book one of the characters works for a Japanese firm and his job is to make replica's of old west paraphernalia. The question becomes philosophical, if you make a replica so well does it become what it is a replica of? I have wondered about that.
No this will not be like the original its too commercial but its fun to ponder.

Refinishing Hardwood Floors - When to Refinish
Hardwood floors add beauty, warmth, and value to any home. However, they can become dull and dingy over time due to dirt and wear and tear. Refinishing hardwood floors Chicago can restore their shine and bring out their natural luster. But, how do you know when it’s time to refinish? In this article, we’ll discuss some of the telltale signs that your hardwood flooring is in need of refinishing.
Wood floor refinishing is a process that involves sanding down the existing urethane, and then staining and varnishing the surface of the wood. The wood is then buffed and sealed to protect it.
Tumblr media
Refinishing is usually done by a professional floor contractor, but you can do the job yourself using the right tools. Refinishing is a fairly lengthy project, and it’s best to hire professionals if you have a large house or have many rooms with hardwood flooring.
If you do decide to refinish your own flooring, be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. It is also a good idea to refinish the floors in a well-ventilated area. If you plan to do it yourself, be sure to open windows and use fans to pull in fresh air and push out old odors caused by the polyurethane fumes.
One of the most common reasons to refinish your hardwood flooring is to address damage. This could be anything from a deep scratch to water damage. If left unattended, even mild damage can lead to more serious problems down the road. It’s a good idea to have your flooring refinished as soon as possible once you notice any damage.
In order to prevent the need for refinishing your hardwood flooring, it’s important to maintain proper care of them. Sweep or vacuum your floors regularly, and be sure to avoid using beater bars on your vacuum. Avoid exposing the flooring to high heat, low humidity, and sunlight, as these can cause the wood to warp or discolor. Taking these steps will ensure that your hardwood flooring looks beautiful for years to come.
