Main Characters of Solar Monsters AU (For @avaveevo)

Main Heroes

Terry Solar-Opposites (Mundane): The main protagonist. He is the pupa specialist, Korvo’s laidback upbeat husband, father of Jesse, step-father of Yumyulack, adoptive father to Sonya and Pupa. He is struggling to control his Mundane forms, after finding out the truth behind his family’s bloodline. (voiced by Thomas Middleditch)

Korvo Solar-Opposites (Super Shlorpian): The deuteragonist. He is the team-leader of the family, Terry’s husband, father of Yumyulack, step-father of Jesse and adoptive father of Sonya and Pupa. He is the first Solar Monster to appear after he accidentally revealed it to Terry and the kids. He began to accept it after his family found out about his family’s bloodline. (voiced by Dan Stevens)

Yumyulack Solar-Opposites (Super Shlorpian): One of the four tritagonists. He is the young bounty hunter of the family, son/replicant of Korvo, step-son of Terry, step-brother of Jesse, adoptive brother of Pupa and Sonya and Daryl’s boyfriend. His fueled emotions over being ridiculed by his peers is what to led to him transforming into his Super Shlorpian for the first time. (voiced by Sean Giambrone)

Jesse Solar-Opposites (Mundane): One of the four tritagonsits. She is the chronicler of the family, daughter/replicant of Terry, step-daughter of Korvo, step-sister of Yumyulack and adoptive sister of Pupa and Sonya. When Jesse was a baby, Terry transformed into his Mundane form after Shlorp was attack by a monster. She is also the third person to not trust Beverly. (voiced by Mary Mack)

Pupa Solar-Opposites: One of the four tritagonists. He is a color-changing alien infant, adoptive child of Korvo and Terry and adoptive sibling of Yumyulack, Jesse and Pupa. (voiced by Sagan McMahan)

Sonya Solar-Opposites (Were-Kraken): One of the four tritagonists. She is the adoptive daughter of Terry and Korvo and adoptive sister of Yumyulack, Jesse and Pupa after her parents were aborted. She became the first youngest Solar Monster to transform after a horrific encounter at the pier (also voiced by Sagan McMahan)

AISHA: Super computer of the family. She takes on a human form whenever she travels and the first one to find out Beverly’s true colors after Terry’s rampage. (voiced by Ariana Debose)

Principal Cooke (Werehog): The head principal of the school Yumyulack, Jesse, Sonya and Pupa goes to, best frenemy of Korvo and Terry and Ms. Frankie’s boyfriend. After being infected by Werehog DNA, Beverly framed him thanks to David’s manipulations so he can get to the family. (voiced by Rob Schrab)

Ms. Frankie (Wolverine Mutant): The Health Class Teacher of Yumyulack, Jesse, Sonya and Pupa, best frenemy of Korvo and Terry and Principal Cooke’s girlfriend. She is the first one to not trust Beverly when she saw her visiting David and grows suspicious. (voiced by Kari Wahlgren)

Ms. Perez (Werewolf Mutant): The Gender Teacher of Yumyulack, Jesse, Sonya and Pupa, one of Korvo’s best friends and Mia’s love interest. She is the first person to witness Mundane Terry. (voiced by Natasha Rothwell)

Cherie (Goliath She-Hulk): A former Wallian hero who is one of the honorary family members of the Solars, Montez’s girlfriend, Pezlie’s mother and one of Korvo’s best friends. She is the second person not to trust Beverly when she saw her insulting Principal Cooke and Miss Frankie when they go to confront her. (voiced by Christina Hendricks)

Montez (Werebat Mutant): A former Wallian is one of the honorary members of the Solars, Cherie’s boyfriend and one of Terry’s best friends. He is the fourth person to not trust Beverly after he saw her with David. (voiced by Carlos Alazraqui)

Pezlie: The infant daughter of Cherie and Pupa’s best friend. (also voiced by Kari Wahlgren)

Nova (Were-Rabbit): A former Wallian/Bowenian, who is one of the honorary family members of the Solars, Korvo’s best friend who acts like a big sister to him, honorary aunt of the Replicants, Sonya and Pupa and Sherbet’s adoptive mother. She and Sherbet are the first humans to find out about Terry’s dark secret. (also voiced by Kari Wahlgren)

Kevin (Werefox): The dimwit neighbor of the Solars and one of Terry’s best friends. (voiced by Ken Marino)

Mia (Octopus Mutant): A former Wall Greeter who is one of Terry’s best friends, a new language-arts teacher and Ms. Perez’s love interest. She is the second person to witness Terry’s Mundane form. (voiced by Cristina Vee)

Randall (Were-Dragon): A redeemed poser-ad worker who is one of Terry’s best friends and is like a cool uncle around the kids. (voiced by Tim Robinson)

Jaime (Mutant Vampire): A pampered colleague who is one of Terry’s best friends and Darcy’s husband. He is the second person to find out about Korvo’s Super Shlorpian form during the hellhound fight. (voiced by Eric Bauza)

Darcy (Hellhound): A pampered colleague who is one of Korvo’s best friends and Jaime’s wife. She is the first victim of David after he sent a bunch hellhounds after Korvo. (also voiced by Cristina Vee)

Sherbet (Sweets Demon): A former teenage Wallian who is one of the honorary family members of the Solars, surrogate niece to Terry and Korvo, big sister figure to the Replicants, Pupa and Sonya and Nova’s adoptive daughter. She and Nova are the first humans to find out about Terry’s dark secret. (voiced by Eden Espinosa)

Janice (Werelizard): A timid soft-spoken kind young lady who works at the rake company Terry and Korvo works at who is one of the honorary family members of the Solars and one of Korvo’s best friends. She tragically became the first of Beverly’s victim to the mutant DNA. (also voiced by Mary Mack)

Alice (Medusa Mutant): A maid who formally works for Brandy and now works with Nova and Sherbet, new member of the Solar Opposites gang and the second victim of David, that led to her mutation at the pier. (voiced by Lauren Tom)

Main Antagonists/Anti-Heroes/Minor Antagonists

David Bushworth: The main antagonist. One of FBI’s most wanted criminals who escape and is the one who manipulated Beverly into trusting him, when he is really an insane criminal wanting to test dangerous mutation DNA on innocent people for cash. (voiced by Nick Nolte)

Beverly: The second anti-antagonist. A stubborn selfish and self-centered blond-hair woman who is rivals with Korvo and Nova and is jealous of Korvo’s brilliant work ever since he came to Earth and is later determined to strip away Terry’s Mundane form and end the monster thing, now knowing that it’s really part of his life-source. After being manipulated by David into trusting him and that those monsters are bad, she ends up causing big trouble for the family. (voiced by Selah Victor)

Tyler: One of the members of Beverly’s gang. He is hot headed and stubborn. (voiced by Andrew Rannells)

Shelby: A stubborn punk member of Beverly’s gang. (voiced by Noël Wells)

Nat: The arrogant member of Beverly’s gang. (voiced by James Sie)

Rina: The laid-back sarcastic deadpan member. (voiced by Lisa Key Jennings)

FBI Agent Sam Python: An FBI agent whom Beverly rivals with to get the Opposites. (voiced by Phil LaMarr)

Jack Horner: A violently-jealous short-tempered arrogant former hotshot army officer, who began to target the Solar Opposites family and their friends thanks to Beverly unknowingly putting the blame on them. (voiced by Andrew Rannells)

Hellhounds: Mutated dogs that David sent after to get Korvo’s Super Shlorpian blood. (sound effects by Fred Tatasciore)

The Headphone Kids (Aiden, Braiden and Jayden): A trio of bullying boys that pick on Yumyulack. (voiced by Andrew Rannells, Phil LaMarr and Karan Soni)

The Stacies (Stacy K., Stacy F. and Stacy H.): A trio of mean girls who pick on Jesse and Sonya. (voiced by Amanda Leighton, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Kari Wahlgren)

Brett: A mean neighbor who picks on Terry, starting at the golf-course. He ends up receiving Kharma when Korvo confronts him over harassing Terry. (voiced by Randall Park)

Daryl: Yumyulack’s doting boyfriend who knows about the family’s dark secret. (voiced by Donald Glover)

Kevin’s Wife: Kevin’s sarcastic wife, who supports the Solar Opposites. (voiced by Spencer Grammar)

Brett’s Mother: Mother of Brett who is actually a very sweet old lady. She even remained uncertain about Korvo’s payback in Brett and even offer him a cookie. (voiced by Jeannie Elias)

Brandy: A redeemed rich woman that the Pupa redeemed in “Super Gooblers”. She was knocked out by David so he can infect Alice. She even decided to let Alice go after realizing how hard her job is. (voiced by Maribeth Monroe)

Gotham Rich People

So there are other millionaires and billionaires in Gotham besides Bruce Wayne.

I'll wait for you to get over the shock.

You good? Ok

There are other stupidly rich people in Gotham. A thought that if you've really made it in stupidly rich society in the dc verse then you have to have some property in Gotham where you stay for like a month or so every year like it's the regency society season. It's a sign that you're so ridiculously rich that it doesn't matter if someone steals your priceless painting or holds you for ransom because you can afford it and still be ridiculously rich. You are rich enough that your bodyguards are so skilled that they can keep you safe in Gotham. Because people are stupid and people who are rich and want to be snobs about it and show off tend to be a little more so than not.

Ridiculously rich seasonal Gothamites will also absolutely think that being kidnapped and held for ransom by one crime family or another or a rogue shows a different level of quality and status. Because they are just that bored and just that rich. And it lets them deal with the ✨trauma✨ ala gallows humor.

Lex Luthor has a bunch of snobby rich people look down their noses at him because he doesn't have Gotham property (Bruce keeps outbidding him when he tries and then Tim does the same when Bruce is busy because neither want Luthor in their city though sometimes people just won't sell if they find out it's Luthor trying to buy the property because they don't want him in the city either) and while he's rich enough to make mechs to go after Superman he can't afford quality Gotham caliber bodyguards.

Oliver Queen might have had a tiny by rich people standards apartment in Gotham, he inherited it. It may have been destroyed during the quake. He doesn't bother to rebuild or buy a new one and just stays in fancy hotel if he has to be in Gotham for any length of time and grumbles that Bruce won't let him crash at his place.

Tim gets Drake Manor back, if he didn't have it already, and puts it in his and Kon's name so Kon can be smug at Luthor because Kon has property in Gotham. Tim might come up with another secret identity as Connor Luthor's Gotham bodyguard just for fun. Superman may be Luthor's villain nemesis, Tim is determined to make himself Luthor's social and business nemesis because Tim apparently doesn't have enough people who want his head on a pike. Also fewer people give Tim well meaning lectures against villainy when Tim makes trouble for Luthor than when he's made trouble for Clark after Clark has said or done something dumb to Kon. Plus having a business nemesis makes being primary shareholder in Wayne Enterprises less mind numbing for Tim.

These other stupidly rich people also end up getting fleeced for millions by the Waynes for the Wayne charities because if they're going to have all these extra idiots to keep an eye on then these extra idiots are going to pay for things like the road work that the city isn't paying for because the city budget was embezzled by some jerk who ran off with the money to some other hole in the ground.

If Jason is bored enough he will be one of those rogues who kidnaps one of the Gotham elite visiting for their maintain the status month and the ransom money goes directly to literacy and educational programs. This way his preferred causes are funded and he doesn't have to be stuck in a suit at a horribly boring gala where he has to be polite. He is also considered the top tier platinum star in rogues to be kidnapped by since he is professional, has kidnapped Waynes before (Damian convinced him to do it so Damian could get out of a series of civilian parties and go hang out with Jon instead and a few times Cass has gotten Jason to "kidnap" her so she doesn't have to deal with a gala either) and is known for returning people when the ransom is paid. He has, on occasion, returned people after the ransom demands were made and denied and it is later discovered that he took the ransom anyway and the person who denied to pay the ransom finds themselves in serious physical and legal trouble. Seasonal Gotham rich people will absolutely brag about having been kidnapped by the Red Hood who clearly has good taste in hostages.

Who encouragingly offers, "He's kind," When your suitor leaves, and guffaws when you counter: "He's an idiot."

Dany my love I am sorry to take so long to reply to this ask but I have been rotating this idea in my mind, considering it, researching it, enjoying it

“An idiot? That may be, but he’s an idiot with a large estate, and important friends.” The captain shrugs. “He might be Sir Idiot before all is said and done.”

“And am I to be Lady Idiot?” You rise, feeling as though the walls of the drawing room are drawing closer. Feeling the need to move. “I’ve never aspired to jewels and pin-money. A clergyman like my father would have at least been to Oxford. Or someone like—”

You bite your tongue.

You were about to say someone like you.

But Captain Pike… whose company is so entertaining, whose contributions to conversation can be so stimulating… who is so handsome — far better looking than the idiot, or any of the small number of other men who have paid attention to you — has shown you no particular partiality. He is simply a friend.

“Someone like…? Is there another gentleman whose attentions you would prefer to entertain? Perhaps you would like me to accompany you on a walk next time?”

“Oh, no.” You can see you have piqued his curiosity, but you move to stifle it. You shake your head, meet his eyes and put sincerity into your voice. “There is no one else.”

You find you’ve wandered to the window, and you peep out between the curtains. The gilded carriage is passing through the gate, taking your suitor away.

You turn back to Captain Pike. “I merely meant to say, someone I can talk to. But I had rather be an old maid, and dote on my nephews and nieces. My brother’s children.”

He stands, and joins you by the window. “Your brother is young yet, and the sea is a dangerous place.” His tone is serious for a moment, and you almost see storms in his blue eyes. But they turn amused, and the corner of his mouth lifts. “And I might not promote him to Lieutenant.”

You roll your eyes — you know him well enough to know his words are a provocation, nothing more. But he has a point — your brother cannot inherit your father’s livings. He will need the patronage of others to make his way in the world.

“Papa would appeal to the Admiral if you don’t. Fine, then, a governess, or a teacher at a school for girls. Or perhaps I shall cut my hair, don my brother’s clothes, and run away to sea myself. I don’t believe I would be the first to do such a thing.”

He raises his brows at that, surprised, then tilts his head, studying you. He was curious before, but this is something more. Still, you meet his gaze, and the moment holds.

“And how would a fine lady such as yourself like the sea, and all the privations we face in the Navy? Surely your brother has written to you of the hardships he faces aboard my ship?”

You incline your head. “He has indeed, on many occasions. And I know I would not… relish… engagements with the Spanish. But he has also written to me of palm trees, distant shores… sunlight sparkling on the ocean. I feel sure I could become accustomed to hard work, if it meant I was able to see some more of the world. If it gave me even some measure of the freedom that I lack in my present station.”

You sigh, looking out of the window again, to the tiny part of the world you know. “I suppose I shall have to marry the idiot, to protect my dear mamma in years to come if nothing else. And I do understand my fortune, truly. But… my dowry is next to nothing, and there are many other ladies who would near kill to be mistress of Hampton Park. Why does the idiot press these attentions on me?”

The door opens and your mother bustles in, followed by the housemaid laden with a fresh pot of tea and a plate of biscuits.

But you don’t think you imagine hearing Pike mutter, “Why indeed?” to himself in answer to your question.

13. Extraordinarily Ordinary by starstruck1986 [Sirron, E, 9k] 💔 🔥 This ship came out of nowhere, but once I read this fic I couldn't unsee it. Ron is just the right amount of innocent and insecure to be taken in by Sirius's charms.

14. Courtship Rituals by @impishtubist [Cedrarry, T, 4k] 🌼 🌹 Cedric tries to court Harry, but of course he's oblivious. This is cute and hilarious!

15. Yes, Minister by iamisaac [Kingco, E, 1.5k] 🔥 👔 This is pure filthy smut between Draco and his minister boyfriend. Hop aboard the Kingsley/Draco ship where there's mind-blowing sex and that sweet sweet age difference!

16. Gyre and Gimble by eldritcher [Drarity, M, 3k] 💔 ☀️ A stunning fic from one of my hands-down favorite authors! Draco is drawn to the prisoner in the manor's basement. Charity is perhaps a little mad.

17. A Life Worth Remembering by @writcraft [Snarryaco, E, 23k] 💔 🔥 Memory loss, de-aged Severus Snape, and established Drarry pulling him into the fold. This fic is such a wonderful dive into polyamory and relationships.

18. Terms and Conditions by @maraudersaffair [Linnansy, E, 8k] 🌼 🔥 Pansy can't get over her ex (Ginny) and is stuck on a trip with Ginny's new girlfriend (Luna). This fic made me laugh, swear, and sweat all in one sitting.

19. Slice of Pleasure by @misdemeanor1331 [Bleonsy, E, 5k] 🔥 🔪 Theo is obsessed with knives, Pansy is obsessed with Theo, and Blaise is just there for a good time. Knife kink and hot smut. Like very hot. Very very hot. But also sweet.

20. Nine Hundred and Twelve by @cannibalschism [Fred & George, T, 5k] 💔 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 This fic is filled to the brim with metaphors, friendship, and life lessons. I absolutely loved this take on time travel and the journey that George takes. Percy is the real MVP!

21. Where You Belong by blue_string_pudding [Severus, T, 6k] 💔 🐀 This is probably the creepiest, most unsettling thing I've ever read. I completely ADORE it. But I was definitely checking around corners after reading it.

22. Family Legacy by @thistlecatfics [The Tonks, T, 2k] 🌼 💔 Following Ted, Nymphadora, and Teddy as they navigate life and queer identity. This is a fic that is so wonderfully poignant, it leaves you in awe of all that it accomplished.

What we know so far:

Ophelia's father has taken Darrell's plantation by force and in the process kills Nathan

Darrell swears revenge and amasses a fortune around the world through shady means

He means to destroy/buy out Ophelia's father's business enterprises because "It's not about what I can gain, but what he can lose."

The Patron finds out his intentions

So it's like Heathcliff meeting Lord Henry Wotton essentially 👀 and they fall in love

Darrell intends to marry Ophelia to get to her father. She develops feelings for him along the line.

title: the other hand knocking (8/10) summary: Since he was eighteen, Steven Harrington knew he would not marry: there were many factors, but chief among them were that he had, he knew, given up his chance for true happiness when he had allowed his mother to persuade him from accepting Edward Munson’s proposal. Or: a Regency AU.

excerpt: He very well may have decided he was an easy target to protect himself, financially, publicly, socially. It would be on his head, of course: as he was manifestly none of these things, and even less once he was quite literally bared to the world.

It was almost enough for him to feel bad about the whole enterprise, he thought, watching as Hagan tried to ingratiate himself with sweet Will Hopper only to receive an accidental smearing of umber paint on his cream waistcoat for his troubles.

Will said innocently, “I am so sorry, Mister Hagan!”

The man’s face purpled, mouth a rictus, brow twitching; through gritted teeth, he said, “Do not trouble yourself, young master, accidents happen.”

Steve bit his tongue and called for a basin of water and a cloth.

And if it took Mr Sinclair just a bit longer than usual, he did not comment upon it.

This is a tricky one, because Djikstra didn’t get any lore when he was added to the game (his leader ability was added a month after the release of Novigrad expansion), in the files there’s this lore bit you can find in a chest BUT even though I have everything unlocked in-game I don’t see this text in his reward tree. Might be a bug on my side, might be that CDPR just let this one scrap of DJ lore in the files and forgot to release it. Who knows, I don't. But I’m going to share what I found :)

Chest: Sigismund Dijkstra was man of razor-sharp intellect and great ambition who arose from common origins to become the head of Redanian Intelligence. Alas, betrayal later forced his retreat from the Regency Council and the kingdom. This setback, however, merely served to open another door for one as shrewd and enterprising as he. Seeing the great potential in Novigrad's criminal underworld, he entrenched himself under the alias Sigi Reuven and quickly garnered tremendous influence. And it was he who introduced to the Free City's underbelly a code of conduct – an arrangement to be used to his benefit whenever the opportunity presented itself.

And I’ve been putting it off because I haven’t been on Tumblr much and my writing slump is so steep atm I’m reaching the existential crisis stage of “can I even call myself a fic writer anymore??”

Anywho.

For SessKag, I’d rec my Regency era AU and my nb!Sess and chronically ill!Kagome fic. I worked hard on both of these fics and they deserve more recognition, imo.

They were an unlikely set of companions; an embittered and injured earl and a clergyman's daughter suddenly struggling to navigate the high society. But the admiration harboured was mutual.

Reflections (Rated T)

She finds him in the darkest time of her life, just when she needs him the most. It’s late at night and she can’t sleep so she’s huddled at her laptop, spiralling down a YouTube rabbit hole in a desperate bid to escape reality. She isn’t sure how or why she ends up on one of his videos but seeing him nearly jolts her out of her chair.

Part Four: The Crimson Commonwealth

Reverie station made its slow orbit around the dead gas giant Sepulcher, its enormous, wheel shaped form slowly revolving a matter of kilometres above the toxic gasses which made up 95% of the planet. At its core, Sepulcher was a solid mass of mineral rich iron, laced with deep veins of silver ripe for mining. Whoever controlled Sepulcher controlled the sector; and Vlada Ikaro controlled Sepulcher.

Ikaro was the great-granddaughter of the founder of Ikaro Corps, a man named Ayako Ikaro. Ayako was a proud and strong young family man when the environmental cataclysm on Vanessa threatened to turn the world into an uninhabitable desert. When the gangs arose and began persecuting the locals, Ayako banded together some like-minded family and friends and fought back. For a blood-drenched decade, Ayako's Ikaro Corps grew from a band of locals defending their territory against lawlessness into a strong criminal enterprise, feared across Vanessa and its surrounding moons

Ayako's youngest son, Kei Ikaro, took the throne when his older brother Takashi was assassinated by the Wraiths, a rival group from the system. Kei embarked on a ruthlessly violent crusade against the much more powerful Wraiths, pulling off the seemingly impossible; defeating the larger, wealthier criminal group. As tribute, Kei took Yelena, the youngest daughter of the head of the Wraiths, Viggo Salvi, as his wife. In victory, he united the Wraiths and the Ikaro Corps into one vast criminal empire known across the system as the Crimson Commonwealth. In rebellion, a splinter group of Wraiths split off, but their few ships and handful of pirates posed no threat to Ikaro.

Kei Ikaro was killed in his sleep four years later by Yelena, then only nineteen. Yelena raised their one infant child, Vladov Ikaro, to lead the Ikaro Corps with Yelena acting as regent until Vladov was old enough to take the reins.

Vladov's interest grew outside of the smuggling, raiding, racketeering, prostitution and murder of Ikaro Corps' past. He invested in mining and science, purchasing legitimate businesses, research stations, orbitals ; donating to planetary politicians and defending the Church. The Crimson Commonwealth's influence and power grew drastically over the next forty years, until Yelena Ikaro had Vladov assassinated, seizing regency of the Ikaro Corps once more in lieu of Vladov's only child, Vlada.

Vlada did not make the mistake her father had. At 16, she had Yelena's supporters within the Corps murdered and in a show of cruelty and brutality not seen since the rule of Kei, Vlada Ikaro had her grandmother publicly tortured for days before execution. So began the reign of Vlada Ikaro, and a new heretofore unmatched era of expansion, conquest and brutality for the Crimson Commonwealth. Now, fifty years later, her greatest achievement had just been snatched from under her.

Vlada was almost seventy years old, but the best healthcare available in the forge and a punishing regime of fitness, combined with her regular use of age-defying drugs, cosmetic enhancements and experimental surgeries (the latter a boon of her father's push into scientific research) meant she looked and felt no older than forty; only the greying of her jet black hair gave any clue to her true age. Seated on a plush office chair facing the full wall vid-window which usually showed Sepulcher in its vast, red glory, she sipped at the cocktail she held in one slim hand and unconsciously tugged a loose thread of the black silk robe she had slipped on after the call had interrupted her bath.

The vid-window showed the sweaty, nervous face of Arnov Slater, one of her lieutenants in charge of the docks at Reverie.

"What do you mean, nothing?"

Arnov swallowed hard. "That's what Fixer said, your grace. The gunship Tormentor docked from Animus under an hour ago. Fixer claims the team carried out the hit on Shepherd as per your orders, but a thorough sweep of her home and offices came up with nothing. No information on the vault. Fixer brought all her info disks back for deep study, but he said, not a thing."

Vlada winced

"That's not possible. Our contact assured us Shepherd was researching it, using my silver and my resources. "

"I can only say what Fixer said. They also rounded up all of Shepherds subordinates and brought them back for debriefing".

Vlada smiled. They would be debriefed, alright. Until every inch of skin was flayed from their bodies...

"There is... one other matter" Arnov continued. "Possibly unconnected but... well, the team took some losses, on account of meeting with some resistance..."

"I assumed they would" Vlada interjected quickly. "Shepherd may have been a traitor, but she was neither weak nor a fool."

"I think it's best you hear this for yourself, your grace."

Vlada watched as Arnov, hands shaking, plugged a recorder jack into some port of his console and pressed a button. A waveform opened on the vid-window screen, the name 'Coil' attached to it. Vlada had no idea who Coil was, but she assumed they were part of the kill team. The jittery, distorted audio began to play.

'It's Cutter! She's with Shepherd, I've found Cutter- KZZKZK '

The cocktail class slipped from Vlada Ikaro's fingers and shattered on the marble floor of her office.

"Cutter?!"

"I checked our records, your grace, and Cutter matches the call sign of a rogue courier we -"

"I fucking know who Cutter is, Arnov!"

Arnov went silent and deathly pale. "Cutter. Cutter..." Vlada mumbled. "Little Kiri Quint. Shepherd, you traitorous snake. To betray me and wound me with this insult..."

Arnov cleared his throat.

"Your grace?"

"The disks will be useless. Whatever information Shepherd had is on Rune Song now. Animus is three days jump from here, and knowing Cutter, she's jumped in the opposite direction." Vlada exhaled heavily. "I want a survey team at Animus in three days, take our largest hauler. Find that vault whatever it takes, bag it and bring it back here for testing"

"Your Grace, you want us to... move a precursor vault? That's never been attempted."

Ikaro's lips pursed very slightly.

"Bring. It. Here."

"Yes, your grace."

Ikaro dismissed Arnov with the faintest motion of a finger, and the vid-window returned to the expansive view of the Jovian gas giant. She stood, ignoring the shattered glass, slipped the robe off and pressed a secondary com control on the am of the chair.

"Yes your grace?"

"Have the maid bring another drink to my bath chamber and clean the mess in my office. Then I want you to dispatch kill teams to every Waypoint, Planet and Station within six jump days of Animus; target is Kiri Quint, call-sign Cutter, vessel name Rune Song. No outside agents, just our people."

"As you wish" the buzzy reply came.

"Oh, and in..." Vlada pondered "Thirty minutes, have Arnov Slater arrested and executed."

"As you wish".

Vlada clicked the com off, neatly folded the robe in her arms, and returned to the ornate bath chamber attached to her office. As she slid into the hot, rejuvenating water she closed her eyes and grimaced. Cutter had resurfaced, and whether she knew it or not, she had the means to make Vlada the most powerful warlord in The Forge. Two birds, she thought. One bullet.
