pairing : james potter x reader

prompt : mistletoe kiss

𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲

every year you forgot how cold december could get. you were always reminded on the first day of chill and then you began bundling up to an intense level with layers upon layers of fabric.

and yet every time you returned home your cheeks and nose were always cold.

including today. as you stepped into yours and james shared flat, wrapped up in a thousand layers of fabric, you could feel your entire. body warming , but your cheeks were heating at an incredible rate.

" jamie? you here ?" you yelled out as you began unwrapping your scarf, taking off your hat and gloves.

it was moments after you called that james appeared in the hallway dressed in pyjama pants and a loose t-shirt.

" hey, baby. you look cozy " he said with a slight laugh, approaching you where you stood in the door way

"yeah well, it's minus 2 outside so i had to stack up " you explained as you slid your sock clad feet out of your boots.

" socks and tights, that's a new level of cold. " he said with a slight laugh, smoothing your hair down over your head where your hat had made it static.

" it's really fucking cold " you explained, finally shrugging off your jacket and hanging it up on the hooks before turning to james.

you took two seconds before you began approaching james, apparently he caught onto what you were trying to do because he started backing away.

" no, you are not shoving your hands down my shirt " he said, moving across the flat, landing in the kitchen on the opposite side of the island to you.

" come on, they're so cold i think they're gonna fall off. " you continued circling the island to try and get to him " you really aren't going to save your girlfriend from losing her fingers ?" you joked, speeding up as you followed him out of the kitchen to the living room.

unfortunately for you, hard wood floors and tights weren't the best combination and you slid into the room, heading straight for the coffee table until you felt james' arms around your waist, preventing you from falling onto the floor.

" merlin, y/n. givin' me a heart attack " he said, turning you in his arms to face you.

" sorry...did you put mistletoe up ?" you questioned, catching sight of the green leaves hanging above your living room door. he tilted his head up to spot the leaves and you took your opportunity, landing your icy hands on his cheeks and pulling him down to kiss you.

he seemed less phased about the icy surface of your palms with your warm lips on his.

hello marauders fandom!!

! me and my best boy jesper @mystcius have started a 20+ DISCORD SERVER for marauders roleplay where we develop and roleplay Hogwarts in the 70s. It’s a really fun server to develop and interact within the marauders community with in character chats, in depth canon roleplays and developments of canon relationship and so on. it’s an all inclusive group where we promote minor and major characters (particularly promoting intergrating minor characters into major plot points too!! no one is excluded here.)

scattered over the same tree

pairing : james potter x reader

prompt : decorating the tree

𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲

the boxes of baubles and tinsel had been taken out of storage and music had been put on to set the mood.

it had always been a big thing in your family. once the tree was up and decorated then the festive season could truly start.

you just had to wait for james to come home with the tree.

he had set out to get a tree 30 minutes ago and was set to be back any minute with it. you had decided to stay back and your flat and get the decorations out from the garage you rented downstairs.

when you heard a knock at the door you lept up from where you had been untangling lights on the sofa to answer it.

james stood on the other side adorning his winter wear with a tree trunk in his grasp.

" you want some help ?" you questioned, moving out of them way as he began pulling the tree in

" sure, love grab the other end and help me bring it in " he suggested, moving further into the flat.

you slid past him and grabbed the middle of the tree, helping james loft it to the place you had cleared out specifically for the tree.

after standing it upright on the stand and making sure it was locked in to prevent it falling in either of you, you began unpacking the decorations.

when you and james moved in together you both had to trim down slightly on your decorations, but you both kept the ones that meant the most to each of you. he had ones that had been passed down through his family and you had ones that your friends had gifted you or that had sentimental value.

so your entire tree was typically covered in memories and everything on it meant a lot to both of you.

so you both took true care over your ornaments, wrapping theme each individually before you put them back in the box.

it made decorating the tree a mildly tedious but always enjoyable task.

after unwrapping the ornaments and setting them out on the coffee table the two of you began to dot various decorations all around the tree, occasionally pausing when you bumped into eachother or to argue that part of it was too cluttered.

once all the decorations were on the tree, it came time for the star.

it didnt matter to james how tall you were, every year he will always hoist you up onto his back to put the star onto of the tree. it was like tradition at this point in your lives.

" m'lady " he said, kneeling down infront of you for you to climb onto his back.

" thank you, sir " you answered, picking up the star and climbing onto his back, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and your legs around his waist.

once you were settled in a against his back, you pressed a short kiss onto his cheek and he stood to head towards the tree, his arms keeping your legs strapped around his waist.

it took a few moments to settle the star on the top but once you did, your arms wrapped around james again and you held on for dear life as he moved back towards the sofa and sat down with you still attached to his back.

you didnt move. neither did james. the two of you sat there for a few moments admiring your combined work.

looking at it every year set something a light in you. seeing both your life and james life scattered over the same tree.
