I agree with your take on booking are women's div better. Bookings and stories should be based on in ring performance.
Skye and Julia should stay on dark until they can put on strong enough matches that make their opponents look good. Skye's improved but her inexperience made Marina Shafir's debut messy and unimpressive. They have women like Bunny for debuts like that.
I also think they wasted that awesome NYE death match between Anna/Tay/Bunny/Penelope. Arguably the best women's match last year and then instead of getting a push, they were all fed to Jade, and Pen just disappeared.
honestly I chalk marina’s debut to just a lack of chemistry between her and skye, which is totally natural. both her and skye have been impressing on dark (marina had a fab showcase against reka tehaka, they should’ve just run that back, and skye has really been working well with people like velvet and emi lately) but sometimes ya just get a pairing that doesn’t have a lot of chemistry with each other and that’s okay! penelope I have a feeeeeling might be injured or away for personal reasons, since there’s not really many other options for not wrestling since january otherwise. bunny is a great midcard heel who can take them losses if and when she needs to and is good at elevating others, but I think having her big moments be in the hardcore matches is the way to go with her! i love tay but I honestly think she’s been stagnating in the ring for a bit now. it doesn’t seem like she’s putting as much work in as she used to and doesn’t even wrestle dark as much, which may be down to her being occupied with this pvz storyline or whatever. anna’s match against jade was great but it’s good that the ladies got cycled out for a little bit (minus bunny who’s been a semi-constant presence on tv really since then) since they were on tv so much during the latter half of last year. tbh I also don’t think they were ‘fed’ to jade since especially anna and tay were booked in the match to look strong against her.

AEW - 10 Things AEW Must do in 2022
With Dynamite aired and Rampage taped, AEW has completed yet another strong year of wrestling. With huge acquisitions the company has continued to grow as they move to TBS next year.
But there are still things TK and co will need to be mindful of, so here are 10 things AEW must do in 2022
Spoilers for AEW Dynamite 29th Dec 2021 just in case you haven't watched that yet
10 - MORE WOMEN'S MATCHES (Still!)
Adding the TBS Title is a good step but AEW have still habitually persisted in only booking 1 Women's match per show. With two titles and two non-title feuds ongoing there was definitely more we could be doing. Teases of turning Leyla Hirsch heel may build to something that'll give TayJay time away from the brass knuckle hellscape of Ford and Allie, but given that several female talents have been in and out - not to mention the Joshi stars of Maki Itoh, Yuka Sakazaki, Ryo Mizunami, Mei Suruga and Lulu Pencil who only got to hang around Dark and Elevation. Given the wealth of women that have come in like Mercedes Martinez, Jamie Hayter, Kiera Hogan and Ruby Soho, paired with the still consistent but unsigned undercards of KiLynn King, Diamante, Sky Blue, Reka Tehaka and more, there is definitely room for the women to be used more, even if it means involving them in other factions: Leyla can join Team Tazz, Abadon the House of Black, or start establishing more all-women factions properly.
9 - Add a Trios Championship
It was expected this year but with AEW doing more Trios matches and establishing Trios factions, it is the sensible thing to make a Trios title. Not only will it serve to divide the stacked tag divisions so to give the duo teams like Bear Country, Varsity Blonds and Acclaimed more tv time separate from any trios. While there is a risk of overdoing it on titles, the roster itself calls for this course of action, in fact personally I think we may need another mid to undercard title too, but the roster does lead into my next point.
8 - Find a way to handle the Huge Roster
It's all great getting the likes of Black, Lio Rush, PAC, Matt Sydal, O'Reilly, Cole, Andrade, Miro, Bryan, Nese, Lethal, Punk, Martinez, Ruby, etc. but it does make the pool really top-heavy. Miro, PAC, Rush, Sydal, Lethal and Andrade currently have little in terms of booking ahead of them which is a bad sign, with news that Gargano, Brody King and Jake Atlas may also be on their way this could spell much more Brian Cage-like disgruntled members of the roster. Keep in mind that Moxley, Archer, and Omega are on AEW's injured list, a fully-healthy roster would be stacked to its gills and will all be wanting spots, if AEW intend to keep their own home talents in the mix of these big guns they will need to find a way to spread out the storylines in a less clusterfucked way, even if that does mean having a brand split or another show.
Tony Khan may be a kid in the candy shop right now but eventually he has to sit in the dentist chair - a dentist not named Britt Baker DMD - and when that point comes he's gonna have to deal with the fillings or lose some metaphorical teeth. It's worth being careful basically, WCW and TNA also fell victim to top-heavy rosters.
7 - Keep the Variety
AEW has managed to stay strong with refreshing to crazy concepts over the past year: Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatches, Arcade Anarchy, Labors of Jericho, Blood and Guts, and Coffin matches, all at least new matches for AEW. As a positive note it is worth encouraging AEW to do more of this, test out new match concepts and see what sticks. However unlike Blood and Guts make sure these are feud-enders, AEW has worked in making wrestling feuds feel refreshing under these conditions, sometimes the crazier the better.
6 - More of the Forbidden Door
COVID of course has put a bit of a road block on the Forbidden Door shenanigans, but hopefully this year we can ease up a lot more on it and share out the wealth of AEW's stronger suits. Women-based Forbidden Door stuff should be considered a lot more in 2022, especially since Deonna is begging for it and AEW haven't really jumped on pushing Leyla or Kiera after their NWA and Impact Women's Title matches.
The Forbidden Door should also work the other way for the likes of Impact, NWA and NJPW, we all know that Bryan wants to compete in the G1, that AEW want to see Tanahashi and Okada in their ring, DDT Pro champion Konosuke Takeshita also has expressed desires to return to an AEW ring, and nobody's gonna say no to seeing Maki Itoh come back. Finally, the Forbidden Door will be a great way to keep ROH's legacy alive, ROH played a big part in ALL IN and like NWA allowed its titles to be defended on the show, AEW should try at least to follow up with that and perhaps allow the ROH titles to be defended on AEW shows for more cross-promotional branching.
5 - Build more Feuds for Dark and Elevation
Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela recently ended their slow running feud on AEW Dark with a brutal No DQ match, which does however mean that Dark and Elevation are once more without a storyline. While it hasn't pretended to be anything other than gratuitous showcases and jobbing, it would benefit AEW to work Dark and Elevation as an undercard where more than one storyline at a time could thrive, even with the unsigned mainstays or to build younger talent towards the path of the main card. It may also help to establish these narratives for the lukewarm crowds at Universal Studios and reward the more committed talent compared to the ones who show up for one or two matches.
4 - Reset on what Doesn't Work
This is mainly aimed at The Factory and HFO, but possibly even Dan Lambert. His promo with Brandi wasn't really good and it is true that Sky and Page may be held down a little because of him. We've had a year of it so it's not like there hasn't been time, and I'm not saying to drop it like a hat, but perhaps use the new year to build towards newer alliances and dissolve what doesn't work to feed into what does work. Sometimes you do have to put your hands up and accept that things aren't going the direction you expected them to, there's no shame in moving on from it.
3 - Pull the Trigger
Long Term Storytelling is a key positive in AEW, but you also don't want to miss your window on some things. Cody's very close now to turning heel, as is Christian, just as Wardlow is very close to turning face, while the new year does mean we will have to start setting up the next set of storylines for the brand we also have to let fire on the things fans have been waiting for, prolonging it can cause unrest among the fans, we have all been burned before.
2 - Build the Next Generation of Stars
After 3 years it's safe to say that the original generation of AEW have established themselves as mainstays in AEW, some more than others, so now it is time to start doing the same thing with the newer names in the roster. While there would still be room to build the likes of Ricky, Hobbs, Anna, Tay, Jade, Varsity Blonds, Acclaimed, Bear Country, Garcia, Moriarty, Brock, Lee etc. we must also look to build talent who in the next 3-5 years could also be future main eventers.
1 - More Focus on Hangman
Hangman completed his hero's journey at All Out, but since then he has only had 1 match. While it was an absolute banger of a match, it is worth reminding AEW that as World Champion, Page (and Baker as Women's Champion) should be the face of the company, which means we have to both establish this new phase for Hangman and maintain his connection to the fans. It is important that we do right by the build, and also establish Hangman's reign as a strong one with a fitting and possibly even heartbreaking end. Should he (hopefully) beat Bryan in January, AEW must make sure to put more focus on the Cowboy Champion, even if it's kayfabe unwanted attention as Page handles both the joys and burdens of being at the top of the mountain.
