Not every story is about seeing yourself in it. Sometimes it’s about learning to see other people too.

Spinning the roulette wheel of “did past me write this scene down anywhere or was I just replaying it in my head so much at the time I wrongly believed I thought I would remember it forever?”

We broke each other in those last six months. We were in and out of love. When we were in, we were so in, and when we were out, it felt like the end of everything. When did our paths become so disconnected? When did our hearts cease to align? How did we arrive at the point where I was no longer yours and you were no longer mine? And we still don't know what life will mean in one or three or five years. But we do know that we needed space to find out who we both were when we were alone.

Do you ever listen to a song you haven’t heard in a long time & get practically assaulted by the flood of memories that comes with it?

Loneliness is something that I often struggle with. And sometimes, it even gives me panic attacks, and breakdowns. These past few weeks have been a bit intense regarding that. Seeing people with their friend groups on social media, not being able to find anyone to call randomly-- just to feel the assurance that I too have a friend, feeling the immense burden of studies and exams but unable to get into the mindset to focus because your loneliness is bothering you - all this was too much for me. I cried for days and nights and tried my best to be happy but it wasn't that easy. Then I realised, that in this selfish world, no one would come and make us happy. If we want to be happy, we need to make it happen ourselves. I've started working on my sleep schedule. Getting good sleep always helps. I also started going on short walks in the afternoons (my favourite time of the day) when nature looks the most beautiful and enchanting to my eyes. I grab my earphones, play my favourite playlist, and set out for the walks. I return home with a far better mood and an energetic mind. Besides, reading books, and watching a comfort movie all by yourself really help when you feel lonely and in need of company which somehow you can't get. Another very important thing that you definitely should do if you want to prioritise your mental health is ignoring (blocking/muting/unfollowing) posts, pages and accounts that make you question your worth, that make you insecure, that disrupt your mental peace, or the chain of a happy-day-feeling. Last but not the least, never underestimate the magic of regular exercise.
These things helped me. I hope some of you find it useful. Stay safe, stay happy, and prioritise self-care.
Love,
Sainaz
