I can't get the image of Soundwave desperately trying to help the bots defeat the Quintessons and nobody is listening to him because they suspect he's working with the Quintessons out of my head

personal belief is that Cas is really bad at making shit up on the spot but is usually pretty good at maintaining long-term ruses. Dean is bad at lying but great at Bits bc he's a campy little man and lying is the most fun Sam can have without taking his clothes off

I also think that maybe Robin doesn't actually... know... what happened between Steve and Nancy.
Because no best friend would try and get u back with an ex who cheated on you.
I think Steve buried the grudge and just didn't tell anyone about it. Maybe claimed it was a mutual decision to lessen the bad vibes.

Few things more mortifying than someone 'complimenting' you on a physical feature of your human body they 'know most people don't find attractive'; either they're a self-absorbed weirdo who takes all their social cues from YA fantasy protagonists (bad) or it's deliberate negging in order to get close to you (worse)

Thinking about Metal Sonic and alternative communication methods.
Sign language wouldn't be the most efficient method of communication for him- it's possible that he could spruce up his eyescreen with eyebrows to help articulate some non-manual markings, but he'd still be at a disadvantage without a mouth.
Tactile sign could solve those problems, though. The only problem is the limited number of speakers that the language has, and I doubt he'd like having an interpreter.
Another alternative would be a speech-constructing device. What would be the difference between that and a replacement voicebox, though? The difference would be that such a device would not be permanently affixed to his body. A mechanism to generate speech, only it's not a part of him. It's not him. That distinction could be important to him, considering autonomy and all that.
A more robot-y alternative would be for him to connect to a nearby electronic device and type his thoughts there. He could connect to his conversation partner's phone, or the phones of multiple people at once, and be able to participate in conversation that way. I suspect he'd be able to type faster than an organic person would, given that he doesn't need a physical keyboard, and he might be able to reach verbal conversational speeds with it.
And finally, there's the good ol' morse code using the pings or other robot-ish noises that he is able to make. Much like tactile sign, you run into the issue of lack of speakers and the need for an interpreter.
The most realistic outcome is that Metal would use a combination of most of the above! Some signs don't need non-manual markings using the mouth to be understood. A text-to-speech generator app could be great for short, impersonal interactions. Establishing a wireless connection could work for lengthier conversations. And he could shit-talk people with Tails using Morse code!

Being into reading DID literature as someone with the disorder sucks because the dichotomy between the two major ideas around it is so stark. A chunk of recent papers I’ve read (2020-2024) are supportive of the patient and encourage working with them and their lived experiences to treat the symptoms of DID. All the while encouraging them to choose between the two treatments (final fusion and functional multiplicity/IFS(?)) and find what best works for them. Then the older papers, and even some of the newer ones, are professionals who treat us like liars and are unable to think logically about how we are “wrong.” That even parts language is “problematic” Which is not true? Parts language and knowing your alters is incredibly important for not only functioning every day but also for whatever recovery path you choose? I still try to read these articles bc I think they’re still very valuable to know about, partially in order to counter some of the arguments people make using them but holy fuckkk they’re so strangely mean sometimes.
