Some times the worst part about being an adult is when you desperately just want to be left alone but you have a partner and a kid and responsibilities that are constantly nagging at you. Curling up into a blanket and a good book with complete silence is all I want but it’s impossible to get and it gets frustrating. Your body and mind can only withstand so much before it just breaks and makes you rest. Alone time and peace and quite are 💯 necessary and wanting or needing them in no way makes you a terrible person, it just makes you human

I'm sorry I didn't post last week. Life got so stressful and so hectic that it felt weird to write about it.
Last Sunday, one of my uncles passed away. We were never close, we met once, wished each other a happy birthday on social media; but he taught me such an important lesson of not letting people mangle your name to fit it in their mouth better. As an Indian, I've dealt with it so much, the names you're called to make it easy for others, the butchering pronunciations, the "I won't even try to pronounce this". It all feeds into the identity crisis of not wanting to be too much of one culture or another. It has taken a long time for me to recognize and set the precedent that my name is important, and it's a part of who I am and where I came from and that came from him. I couldn't be more thankful for that lesson.
This week was also hectic work wise, with balancing 2 exams, and an almost 30 hour work week. So I'm posting pictures of the things that made me happy: cinnamon rolls with my old roommate, pumpkins, sunflowers, and fall.
I also learned that world mental health day was recently. I hope you all have had a relaxing weekend. Whether you're premed or not, student life can be super hectic and draining, especially during a global pandemic and with heightened uncertainty about the future. Please take care of yourself to the best that you can. Remember that life isn't all grades or GPAs, MCAT/GRE/GMAT scores. You're so much more than that and this blog is a place for you to get that shit out.
Here's to hoping this week will be more relaxing 🍂🧡
