COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY AUs: Below you can find a list of Good Omens fics in which Aziraphale and Crowley are either students or professors at college/university.
[Requested by anon. You can request more fic recs here.]
Catch Me When I Fall by Ghostinthehouse (G, 666) Later, at home, they laugh openly about it, and lay bets on how long it will be before this year's undergraduates catch on that they are married. "Your turn to drop a clue next, angel," Crowley drawls from where he sprawls with his feet on Aziraphale's lap.
A New Adventure by Arielavader (T, 1k) Crowley did not expect the new guy in their D&D group to be so… gorgeous.
Emporium by wingeddeanmon (Not Rated, 1k) Aziraphale's friends ditch him at the local goth store. The employee working is friendly, and he soon develops a crush.
Ineffable Professors by spoondrifts (G, 2k) After noticing all the blatant pining, the classes of Mr. Fell and Dr. Crowley join forces to set up their respective teachers.
The Best College Parties are the Ones that You Leave Early by MariMoon812 (T, 3k) For a moment they just started at each other as Crowley’s spinning head tried to comprehend what, exactly, was happening. Was this one of the professors? No, he clearly wasn’t that old, but then why was he dressed like that? Was it a hipster thing? Did the guy also have an antique typewritter that he used to write history papers? What? Why was he just staring at him? Just as Crowley was beginning to short circuit, the boy squinted at him and leaned forward slightly. “Erm…” “Why are you wearing sunglasses?” “Huh?”
But Together We Have it All by HolyCatsAndRabbits, Dannye Chase (T, 3k) College student Aziraphale discovers that it might not be so bad having terrible roommates if he’s got a handsome fellow student offering the use of his couch for the night. Especially if it seems he’s got a crush on Aziraphale. Really especially if it seems he needs rescuing from his own awful roommates. A Good Omens human AU written for the Good Omens Holiday Exchange on Dreamwidth.
Poor Men by smol_bird (G, 3k) What To Do When Two of Your Professors Are Hopelessly in Love With Each Other: an instruction manual by Adam Young (featuring Pepper Moonchild because someone has to be the voice of reason here).
Snakes and Stones (Never Broke My Bones) by DeerstalkerDeathFrisbee (G, 4k) “How many people don’t believe I exist?” Crowley asks in the doorway. “I’m sure no – ” Aziraphale begins, only to be cut off by Gabriel and a reluctant Newton. “Everyone.” No one wants to say it, but the residents of Dorm A, floor 3, are collectively convinced Aziraphale Fell’s boyfriend does not exist. This is their story.
Seven Minutes In Hell by AppleSeeds (T, 4k) Being trapped in a cupboard with the guy he has such an intense crush on he can hardly speak to him is bad enough, but things get even worse for Crowley when he starts having a panic attack and Aziraphale sweetly comforts and cares for him.
Hanging By a Moment by NaroMoreau (E, 5k) Sometimes the best thing is to leave. Fresh slate and all that. For Crowley, it seems like the only option, having fallen hopelessly in love with his best friend. Who, absolutely, definitely doesn't feel the same. Does he?
Miracles (Or How to Fall in Love) by hope_in_the_dark (T, 6k) “Group project,” the blond guy chirped. “We’re partners.” “Fuck,” Crowley said.
Borrowed Time by NaroMoreau (E, 6k) Meeting a stranger by chance will make Aziraphale face things he hadn't expected.
Comfort and Joy by musegnome (M, 9k) “Extra-large peppermint mocha, triple espresso, double whip!” called the barista. Crowley stepped forward and claimed his giant sugar-drenched monstrosity. The whipped cream ballooned over the rim of the paper cup, and the whole thing shed crumbles of crushed peppermint candy.  Aziraphale’s eyes widened at the sight of it. In awe? Horror? Crowley couldn’t tell.   He didn’t want to leave, not yet, but as he looked around he didn’t see an open table. Not even so much as a bar stool.   “Er – were you planning on staying?” Aziraphale asked, a little shyly. “I’ve got an extra seat.”   Written for the Good Omens OTP Prompts Event.
Raspberry Ripple by FeralTuxedo (T, 9k) Every afternoon, a man in a velvet waistcoat sits on the bench by the stone fountain and eats ice cream. Every afternoon, Crowley watches him from his office window. One day, he’ll pluck up the courage to talk to him.
Secrets by AppleSeeds (M, 10k) When their housemates invite friends around, Crowley and Aziraphale get roped into a game called 'Secrets'. Having played the game before and therefore knowing what might happen, Crowley tries to manipulate the outcome to protect Aziraphale, who is feeling pretty uncomfortable about the whole thing. By the end of the night, however, some secrets will inevitably end up being revealed, but not all of them in the way that Crowley expected.
Just Around the Corner by accidentaldemon (M, 11k) "I don't live far, if you, ya know, don't mind sharing a bed." He swallowed thickly. This was definitely not how he had planned his evening to pan out. “I’m Crowley, by the way. Well, Anthony Crowley technically, but I prefer Crowley.” “Aziraphale." - All Crowley wants to do is leave the party and go home to study. But then he meets a cute boy with absolutely angelic curls who's in desperate need of a bed for the night.
The Summoning by AppleSeeds (M, 15k) Aziraphale's horrible university housemates convince him to accompany them to an old, supposedly haunted, abbey on Halloween. He's not worried about ghosts, Aziraphale is pretty sure they don't really exist, but when his housemates send him into the toilets alone to perform a ritual that's intended to summon a demon, Aziraphale can't help but be afraid. Surely it's not that easy though. Surely a demon won't just appear because he asked it to? Will it?
i was in love (with the place in my mind) by weatheredlaw (E, 17k) There are so many things neither of them can change — how they met, the things they did, the words they said. It’s happened, it was probably always going to happen. And what it is, he can’t say, what he feels is almost too great for any one language. Inutterable, unspeakable — Ineffable.
New Approaches by FeralTuxedo (M, 19k) Aziraphale Fell, Professor of Creative Writing at Tadfield University, welcomes the attendees of the First Conference on New Approaches to Genre Fiction. Among them is keynote speaker and best-selling thriller author Anthony J. Crowley. Aziraphale has not seen him for twenty-five years. Sometimes, he can still feel the ghost of their parting kiss on his lips. Or: Exes reunite at academic conference. A Human University Professor/Author AU.
Convergent Evolution by AppleSeeds (T, 22k) Genetics PhD student Crowley meets Aziraphale at a workshop in the second year of his PhD, and they quickly become incredibly close friends. Crowley longs for there to be something more between them, but as the years go by, they seem destined to spend their careers living at opposite ends of the country. That is, until Aziraphale shows up again in Tadfield, back where their friendship began seventeen years ago, with some very exciting news.
Free Trial Boyfriend by MrsCaulfield, angelsnuffbox (T, 37k) Overall, Anthony Crowley considered himself a lucky fellow, with his good looks, good grades and a full ride swimming scholarship. There really wasn't much he can complain about. But his real struggle was that he's completely, maddeningly in love with his best friend - a strong, passionate and oblivious angel who, even after a full year of pining, still can't seem to get the hint, no matter how many times Crowley has tried to flirt with him. - Crowley would never forget the day that the angel first talked to him, for he was certain that was the day that all the clocks around the world began suddenly moving.
search terms by Vagabond (M, 43k) Aziraphale expects it to be a quiet night working in the university library when a flashy red haired, foul mouthed, panicking student needs to find credible sources for his paper and can't figure out how to use the search. Little does Aziraphale know that meeting Crowley will lead him on a path to self-discovery, and give him the family he didn't realize he needed.   From a prompt on tumblr: College AU - You’re REALLY GOOD at using the right search terms for the academic databases and I’m on a deadline.
Joint Honours by FeralTuxedo (E, 43k) PhD student Aziraphale is busy enough with his studies at Tadfield University. But at the start of a new semester, his measured routine gets shaken up by the sudden responsibility of teaching, the arrival of an irresistible new house mate, and a mysteriously flirtatious sausage roll.
Angel in the Window by themaybedoctor (E, 66k) Aziraphale has the best job a young bookworm could ever hope for—he works the evening shift at an independent bookshop, just a stone's throw away from Tadfield College, where he's only a few months away from getting his degree. He likes the location in Tadfield's cosy downtown, the friendly regulars, and his coworker, Newt. But most of all, he likes having the key to the biggest treasure trove of books he's ever seen. Aziraphale knows that he's not going to make friends sitting in the dark shop at night, alone with a book and some chocolate, but that's all right. He's not lonely while he has a book, which means he's hardly lonely at all. Really. Crowley works at a record shop, and he's got the biggest crush on the cutie working at the bookshop next door. Whose name he doesn't even know, because he's too awkward to ask. At least nobody's noticed. If his co-worker Anathema found out, he'd never hear the end of it. A story about bravery, misunderstandings, acceptance, and love.
Golden Handcuffs by seekwill (E, 70k) Far from any city, near the Scottish coast, Tadfield College has a celebrated history, an unrivaled academic reputation, and two departments at war. When the Biology and English departments are forced to share a building, Senior Lecturer and botanist Anthony Crowley finds himself drawn into the orbit of the polite but strange English professor, Dr. Aziraphale Fell. As the new term begins, two academics navigate the politics of both their offices and academia, and try to solve the puzzle of one another.

Lunch
“Nrghk,” Crowley said to himself, head down, arms draped over the table.
All around him, humans moved about the tavern without noticing the demon, drinking, eating, gossiping...
“Grhngh?” Crowley asked himself, very sensibly, half looking up before pressing his forehead back onto the smooth wood. He reached up to tangle his fingers in his hair, and then his left hand flinched back when it touched a braided lock.
“Krngh!”
A few more minutes passed, but this time Crowley did not move from where he was, an awkward tangled pile of demon and rumpled woolen cloth, as if tossed there by a careless, indifferent hand.
“Mrrph,” Crowley concluded.
“Crowley? Are you all right? This seems like a lot more consonants than usual, even for you.” Azriaphale’s voice. Without lifting up his head, Crowley raised a lax and lolling forearm just enough to wave Aziraphale toward an empty seat at his side. A moment later, some humans came by with cups of mixed wine, bowls of soup, and freshly baked bread, still hot from the oven.
“Soup? Isn’t it rather warm for soup? It’s the middle of summer.”
“Blrrgh,” Crowley answered reasonably, before, pulling a bowl toward himself, sitting up with great reluctance as he did so. He tore off a piece of bread and used it to scoop soup into his mouth, albeit in a defeated, dispirited manner.
“I haven’t seen you in a while. Not since spring,” Aziraphale said with a weak attempt at a smile. “Are you...all right?”
“Yeah. Course I’m fine. Absolutely fine, why wouldn’t I be fine? Just been...you know, busy,” Crowley managed something that looked almost like a smile except the expression was wobbly and uncertain and it seemed as though the demon was having trouble making direct eye contact. Crowley gestured absently with a ragged piece of torn bread as he spoke. “Fine, fine, fine.”
“Erm, since. Well, since the unpleasantness this last spring, I haven’t seen you but for a few minutes after the last day of the Dionysia. And by the way I must mention that it’s been noticed that you’re not seen around court outside of lessons. The other teachers and tutors have commented on it. Besides that, even poor Akakios is not seen often. It was quite difficult getting a message to you, you know.”
“Yeah, well. If the humans ask, just tell them I’m putting in some respectable mourning time. Course, that’s obviously not true. Just...busy.”
“Busy?” Aziraphale’s eyebrows went up.
“He’s...erm. How do I put it. Taken a fancy to me lately?” Crowley said, with a gesture that was like an exaggerated careless shrug, of a feigned nonchalance that slid toward awkward parody.
“Oh?”
“Yeah. Rather...fancily.” Crowley searched Aziraphale’s face, wondering what the angel thought. To his surprise, Aziraphale’s eyes were full of sorrow.
“Oh. I’m so sorry, my dear, I didn’t-”
“Don’t be. You don’t need to apologize for anything. I’m fine, I like it just fine. I like him just fine. You know that,” Crowley replied, in a way that brooked no further discussion, and he stared at his soup as if the lentils or the drizzle of fresh olive oil on top could reveal some hidden meaning to him. “Nothing’s changed. Nothing ever changes for us...”

Whumptober Day 17 - Trein
Everyone’s favorite magic history teacher has a bad fall. A shorter one today!
No. 17 HANGING BY A THREAT
Breaking Point | Stress Positions | Reluctant Caretaker
Read on AO3!
Fic under the cut!
Trein had a great many things to say regarding the subject of aging. Age had given him wisdom and experience, a family with three wonderful daughters, and the priceless opportunity to guide the next generation of mages. Unfortunately, age had also given him arthritis, reading glasses, and pain in his neck, back, knees, and hips.
Trein sighed and sat back from his desk, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He still had two dozen more essays to grade, but it was quite late and he hadn’t gotten around to having dinner. Just a quick break to eat, then he’d get right back to grading.
He rose to his feet with a groan and grimaced. Dammit, his back was stiff. Lucius looked up from where he was loafing on Trein’s desk.
“Qrrt?”
Trein smiled and stroked the cat’s ears. “Nothing to fret over. Though I think I need to call my chiropractor again. Come now, let’s go to the faculty room.”
As he headed for the door, he misstepped and stumbled against the corner of the desk. Something popped in his hip, and his leg gave out. The corner of the desk gouged against his side as he fell, hard enough to bruise, and something in his back shifted out of place with an audible crack as he hit the floor.
Trein stared up at the ceiling in shock. Everything had happened in less than a second, and he was suddenly in so much pain he could scarcely breathe. The leg that had given out was bent and pinned beneath him, and he’d fallen right up against the desk, his arm pinned between himself and the wood. Pain radiated from his hip and back, and Trein took a few moments just to catch his breath and let his mind catch up to what had happened.
Okay. This was a bad fall. He’d get up and head right to the infirmary to… to…
Trein couldn’t move. He was able to move his limbs that weren’t pinned, but whatever had happened in his back was bad. Did he slip a disc? Pull something? Or was this something worse? Heaven forbid, had he broken his back? From bumping against his desk??
Irritation flared within him at being felled by something so insignificant, but it died quickly as horror set in.
Oh no. He was up late grading. It was almost midnight, well past curfew for the students, and past when most of the other faculty would have also retreated for their beds. There was a very good chance no one would find him until morning.
Trein’s heart raced. What was he going to do? He couldn’t handle lying in pain like this for hours! That was torture!
An anxious mewl came from above him, and Trein saw the round face of Lucius looking down at him from the top of the desk.
“Lucius!” Trein gasped. “Lucius, get help! Go find someone!”
The heavyset cat jumped down from the desk with a thump and padded over to Trein’s side.
“Mrrrowr?”
“Find Crowley,” Trein said through gritted teeth. “Get help!”
Lucius considered, watching Trein carefully. Trein wasn’t fluent in many dialects of animal speak, but he certainly knew how to speak cat, so he knew Lucius understood him. However, being able to speak to an animal did not mean the animal possessed the same intelligence as a human, cats were wont to do as cats pleased, no matter what anyone else wanted. Lucius understood that his owner was in distress, and made the decision to watch over and protect him instead. He curled up against Trein’s side, watchful eyes on the door, and folded his feet beneath him.
Trein sighed and stroked Lucius with a shaking hand.
“Foolish. …But thank you.”
Now what? He considered his options. Just because there wasn’t anyone around didn’t mean someone wouldn’t pass by. Ghosts often drifted through the halls late at night, or students up past their curfew and getting into trouble. He just needed to make himself known so he could be found as soon as possible.
He threw a gust of wind magic at the door, slamming it open with a bang, and a second gust sent all the papers he’d been meticulously grading whipping into the hall, making a mess that would be easily seen.
Now all he could do was wait.
It was a long, long night.

And now, time for Farron’s birthday interview!
~~~
Tumblr media
Yuulan: Happy Birthday, Prince Farron!
Farron: Haha, you’re still calling me that! I don’t mind though, thank you!
Y: It suits you! Anyway, how does it feel having everyone celebrate your birthday?
F: It’s lovely seeing everyone here having fun on my behalf and receiving everyone’s well wishes. And I’ve received many presents too!
Y: Really? What have you received so far? Any gifts that left an impression on you?
F: From Kalim, I received three bolts of silk from his homeland, Vil-san also gave me a very beautiful bolt of fabric. I’ve never worked with such delicate material so I must think carefully about what I decide to make from them.
Y: Did you receive anything from you family?
F: My older sister is currently studying abroad and she sent me a postcard and some candies from the island she’s visiting. The postcard is dated for today so she must have seen to it that I would receive it today. Even though we don’t see each other much these days, it’s nice to know she’s still thinking about me.
~~~
Tumblr media
Y: When did you begin sewing?
F: My earliest memories are all centered around clothes, my fascination with them and how they were made. I would watch my mom and sister dress up for parties or watch my dad work in the tailoring shop he owns with one of his friends. When I was ten, I got my first sewing machine and that’s when I really began to get into it!
Y: So you always knew you wanted to go into fashion design?
F: Believe it or not, no. Honestly, I was very insecure about my craft when I was in grade school. My love of fashion perplexed a lot of other guys my age and I was made fun of a lot. My teachers tried to help, but their idea of helping was trying to find hobbies for me that wouldn’t make me a target for bullying. Nothing worked though and I began to wonder if this was really my dream if it left me feeling so crappy and isolated.
Y: I can understand that. Bullying is the worst.
F: I felt isolated for a long time until I arrived at NRC and joined Pomefiore. I joined the film research club as an assistant. For a while I tried to keep my head down and not draw attention to myself but that didn’t last very long. When Vil-san realized my skills, he made me chief costume designer for the club and even insisted I make costumes for him! I was very reluctant but then he offered me a room in the dorm to be my own personal studio! That’s was something I always dreamed of having so…yeah, I really had no choice at that point. *laughs*
Y: *laughs* He knew exactly how to butter you up, huh? I hope you grew less reluctant over time though.
F: Don’t worry, I love my work with the film research club! I was reluctant, it’s true but it’s been a blessing in disguise because Vil-san has been very helpful in me become more comfortable with myself and accepting what I love.
Y: Really? He’s always struck me as very strict and stern.
F: Oh he is, don’t think for a moment he isn’t! But he’s also inspirational as well. When I look at him, I see the person I’d like to become. Someone confident in who they are who doesn’t care about out of date societal expectations when it comes to appearance. Since joining Pomefiore, I’ve slowly given up trying to be someone I’m not. I’m a lot happier now, and I have Vil-san to thank for that.
Y: I hope he realizes what devoted club members he has.
F: Even if he doesn’t, I’m still thankful to him. And the opportunities working with him has given me have been incredible as well!
~~~
Tumblr media
Y: Outside of sewing, what other things you you enjoy?
F: I’m fond of outdoor activities, I love riding my bike. Every weekend, I like to ride from side of the isle of sages to the other and then back. The trip takes about 7 hours total but it’s a good workout.
Y: Isn’t RSA on the other side of the isle though?
F: Hehe, it is but I…make a point of stopping before I reach that point *has his fingers crossed behind his back*. You should join me one of these days.
Y: If Crowley ever allows me enough madol for a bike of my own, I’d love to!
F: We’ll find a bike for you, don’t worry! In any case, I’m also a big music lover. That’s something else I’ve rekindled since coming to NRC.
Y: What kind of music do you like?
F: Most kinds, though I really like classical music, especially the sound of the piano. When we have receptions at Pomefiore, I’m often the one providing music with Sidonie. I’d play for you now, but Sidonie insists that since it’s my birthday, I shouldn’t!
Y: *laughs* Maybe next time. It looks like school life has treated you very well, Farron.
F: I think most of all, being at this school has opened my eyes to the kind of person I’d like to be. I feel like I’ve tried hiding myself in the past and became frustrated with myself when I couldn’t. I’m not saying everything at NRC has been sunshine and rainbows, but I feel much freer now than I’ve been in a long time, since I was a child. And now, I want to explore all the possibilities open to me!
Y: I wish you the best of luck on all your future endeavors! I’m sure you’ll slay in anything you do!
F: You better believe it! After all, I am the prince of style, as you and Rook are always reminding me!
Y: Exactly! Thank you for sharing more about you today, and once again, happy birthday!
(A/N: When I ever get around to learning how to draw with better perspective, the groovy image is of Farron taking a selfie with Sidonie and Danica, and Cater trying to cut in at the last minute)
Haha, yeah Ace would absolutely do that!
I prefer a demon slayer Yuu though simply because of the angst potential. Since being a demon slayer is really dangerous, the prefect would obviously have a shit ton of scars so imagine how everyone would react to seeing them? Like in the event that the prefect is supposed to become the next pillar of a breathing technique, they’d have to be super skilled and have to fight a ton of powerful demons to reach that point so that just makes the amount of scars they have even higher!
Also during an overblot, maybe they get severely injured due to the debris flying everywhere but instead of being phased, they’re like; Tis but a scratch! But everyone else is like; No it’s not!
And the dorm heads after overblotting! Like if the prefect gets badly injured every time it happens which leaves a scar and they’re already aware of the other scars, they’d feel really bad for hurting the prefect, because they’ve already been through so much they deserve a peaceful life! Being at NRC, for the most part, has clearly given them the chance to truly act their age where they can also receive the help they need to work through their trauma and then because of the overblot, things are taking a few steps back again! Of course the prefect is like; “It’s fine, I’ve faced worse!” But that honestly just makes all of them feel worse because damn.
Knowing all this, I bet Crowley and everyone else would be reluctant to send the prefect back to their world cause they don’t want to see their friend suffer more pain.
Everyone is frankly quite horrified at the amount of scars they have on their body and how some of them are near parts of their body that could very well be fatal
They are 16! They should be going out pulling pranks and getting on the teachers’ nerves or being a good student preparing for their future not fighting in battles that could very well kill them
Crowley confiscated their sword because it’s dangerous to have in school but luckily they didn’t get through all those battles and be able to be a candidate to become a pillar only relying on their sword, they can make do with what they get
Despite Deuce’s horror at MC’s situation he’s also pretty curious on just what pillars are and about the demon slayer corps in general though of course he always goes about the topic gently despite the fact it really doesn’t MC that uncomfortable (he wants them to focus on having fun! Not fighting with their life on the line)
Ace takes it upon himself to make sure you have loads of fun in NRC and his shenanigans with MC are actually given some slack when MC is shown to be genuinely enjoying themselves (though he still gets punished, boi you thought)
Jack wants to protect them but also respects their strength so becomes more of MC’s self preservation because they don’t need to run into battle! There are magic wielded though MC can’t really be stopped when the situation escalates
Riddle would feel terrible if he scarred or injured you in any way (which considering he fought with rose bushes, I BET HAPPENED) and want to make it up to MC but MC is just dismissive of it insisting it’s okay when it’s not. (He gets Trey to teach him how to make tarts properly and gifts them to MC who accepts it cause free food!)
Leona on the outside is dismissive of the whole thing cause big whoop the kid has scars, not his problem. Inside however he does feel a little bad though considering the nature of his power they likely didn’t get too injured especially since when faced with demon blood arts that can send you flying without you even seeing (Reference: Yahaba’s demon blood art. The partner of the Temari demon), Leona’s muscles really doesn’t intimidate them
Azul feels pretty shitty about trying to take away their home after learning that they were okay with it for the most part because they didn’t really need sleep much anyway (seriously when do demon slayers sleep, they train in the day and fight demons to sunset the next day, if you think you can stay up all night become a demon slayer, they are on another level) but ultimately settles for treating them to a free treat in the Mostro Lounge and is off. He doesn’t like getting personally involved
Jamil was worried about his plans in all honesty with the fact that MC could see through him and is surprised when they approach him post overblot like he didn’t deceive them and send them flying with Grim. When MC explains he doesn’t need to feel alone, he just feels bad and mends their Haori as an apology (since he saw Riddle and Azul already apologize with food)
Vil didn’t insist on MC working with them since they had recovering wounds and scars that could possibly be aggravated by his strict training but they laugh off the idea his training is strict cause compared to demon slaying training it’s a breeze. When he accidentally injures them in his overblot (since he you know, DESTROYED THE STADIUM) as an apology he does something gets a gift personalized to something MC would actually like (since he luckily has Rook to find out what MC likes) and gets them some potions to speed up their recovery
The students would openly protest if MC was going to be sent home. They shouldn’t have to go back to such a bleak world where death is staring them at the face! They can just stay here and be a teenager!
MC however would insist on coming home because they still have precious loved ones at their home world who they wish to protect and they can’t just live a normal life here while their comrades are likely off fighting demons and possibly even the upper moons and Muzan Kibutsuji something that the students would reluctantly have to accept.
Okay so I know you prefer demon slayer! MC but Demon! MC has plenty angst potential too! I mean with some exceptions, most demons didn’t exactly want to become one because the life of a demon is not an easy one
They would be close to Malleus as a demon since they can only come out when it’s night and Malleus and his centuries of wisdom could be an interesting conversation buddy to the immortal (from everything but the sun and wisteria) demon.
Demon! MC would be way more nonchalant about taking hits than a demon slayer! MC because hey! Their arm might’ve been blown off but it’s already regenerating and since none of the guys have sun powers or Nichirin blades, they can only be killed by being pushed into the sunlight (which no one is possibly an asshole enough to do when they saw what happened to them after Crowley dragged them off to get some sunlight cause “it’s good for them”).
Demons feel the pain of their injuries (ex: Nezuko wincing when her leg was blown off by the Temari demon and the Temari demon’s death) so them using themselves as a meat shield while practical makes the NRC students feel awful when they recall them remarking on cutting themselves the other day or some other passing comment of pain cause they can feel it but take every hit.
The Pomefiore students and Crewel night even volunteer to work on a potion that could get them some form of sun resistance after a near miss after an overblot attack where the sun got exposed to them and if it wasn’t for Adeuce tackling them and hiding them under their bodies they surely would’ve been nothing but ash but MC just laughs bitterly at the idea of sun resistance as it’s after all what “that man” desires most
With demon! Mc being sent home, demon! Mc might actually accept staying in Twisted Wonderland unless they’re someone like Tamayo who’s actively making something to work against Muzan though if they’re just a demon with humanity still in them trying to survive I imagine they would actually like to stay which would make a happy ending but still full of angst potential
The quality of my writing keeps getting worst and worst 🤣
===========================================================
Tumblr media
Malleus + Lilia
Lilia and Malleus are one of the better pairs of yanderes to share a darling. Malleus is so eager to keep his darling locked up, away from everyone, everything. But simultaneously Malleus has a weak spot for Lilia, he looks up to the older fae and desperately wants to gain his approval. He also trusts his judgment, so if Lilia wants to play a little bit "rough" with the darling then Malleus is willing to turn a blind eye. On the other hand, Lilia has a sicker, much more twisted manner of thinking about their situation, the older fae doesn't just see the Darling as his property he also sees Malleus as his now! Yes in Lilia's warped mind both Malleus and the poor darling belong to him and only him.
Life with the two isn't too bad, it's really all a matter of staying on both their good sides. Don't tick off one and expect the other to side with you. Malleus always takes Lilia's side no matter what, in his eyes, the pink and black-haired fae can do no wrong. On the other hand, Lilia just doesn't care. 'Malleus put you under a sleeping curse?' oh well that just how he is. 'Malleus broke your arm when he mistakenly thought you were attempting to escape?' That's just how things are around here better get used to it.
Just sit around like a nice pretty doll and let the two powerful fairies do as they want with you and everything will be okay.
Tumblr media
Jade + Floyd
It all started when you made the mistake of asking Jade out on a date. One day when you'd swallowed up enough courage you marched up to your senior and all but begged for a date. To your surprise, Jade had agreed, hesitantly but never the less the "yes" was said. Oh, how happy you had been that day. Rushing back to your dorm room to doll yourself up.  Fantasizing about the date as you danced around the room.
But when you actually arrived at the Mostro Lounge somethings off. Jade isn't...well, right. His smile is too big stretching across his cheeks in the most unnatural manner. His eyes have lost their spark, they're dull and dead almost like they're made of silicone. His personality isn't right either, he's too fidgety too hyper. He's all but bouncing off the walls and singing every other word.
When you finally walk over to him, the teal haired teen lounges himself at you, wrapping his arms so tightly around your body that air can't pass through your lungs. It's in that quick-paced breathless moment that you realize your mistake. This isn't Jade, this isn't the sweet charismatic gentleman no..this is his brother Floyd, the one person in NRC that haunts your dreams. The one boy that never goes one day without screaming your name through the hallways and "accidentally" bumping into you.
Try as you might to get out of his grasp and run for the exit, it's all futile. The younger just keeps hugging tighter and tighter until pesky black spots start to float around your sight, the bright lights fade into shimmering orbs as your consciences slowly slips away.
It's later when you wake up that you notice just how grave and hopeless your situation is. The grinning faces of both twins are peering down at you, sharp teeth on full display as they get closer and closer...
These two are the most in sync yanderes you will ever meet. Sure they seem like polar opposites but when it comes to their darling they can agree on practically EVERYTHING.
Now friendly reminder that Floyd is the more aggressive one out of the two. His cold fingers are always trickling over your skin, pinching the flesh as he proclaims how "cute" you are. Jade is the last string of sanity for both you and his brother. He makes sure you are both in line and never go overboard...technically Floyd never goes overboard. Jade is also much more hesitant to hurt their precious darling, he does enjoy how much you need him, but he hates seeing his little "goldfish" (the only fish's name I can write without getting a mini heart attack, yes I hate fish that much XD) in any form of pain. Now both marks are a completely different story, both twins adore marking their darling. Jade prefers to leave "love bites" over your neck and shoulders trailing down to your arms, while Floyd prefers to mark your thighs and torso area.
The twins may not be the most intense yanderes but they aren't very subtle either, just when you're starting to go with the flow they change something to throw you off and send you spiraling down a waterfall of confusion.
Tumblr media
Riddle + Chenya Riddle and Chenya are the most contradicting yanderes you'll ever meet. These two can't agree on anything! Riddle usually set rules but Chenya always manages to convince their darling to break them under the pretext that "they won't get punished". Technically he's not telling a complete lie, He won't get punished but you sire will. Riddle is slightly more sympathetic when he's punishing his darling for a broken rule that Chenya convinced them to break. He knows that it's all his childhood friend's fault but he still has to discipline you with the hope that next time you won't listen to that idiot.
Now both these boys are possessive and desperate for any form of affection their beloved will give. Doesn't matter if it's kisses or gentle head pats so long as they can feel their s/o's tender fingers over their flesh. This usually leads to a tug of war between childhood friends. One of them is always trying to strangle your attention away from the other. Wither its Chenya sneaking up behind you and Riddle while you cuddle or Riddle yell and screaming until you and Chenya break apart your kiss and make room for him on the couch.
Overall these two are so chaotic together that sometimes their darling wonders why they even teamed up in the first place...
Tumblr media
Leona + Ruggie Leona and Ruggie are actually a very underhanded duo. It's obvious from the start that Leona is pulling the strings. He manipulated Ruggie into helping him, briding the younger boy with the promise of the darling's undying love or food, either one works. It's Ruggie that does the physical kidnapping, it's also Ruggie that has to take care of the darling. Making sure they stay fed, clean, having something to wear after both he and Leona got rather aggressive on some nights. He does all the heavy lifting, while Leona just lays around cuddling the darling before falling asleep.
Leona has multiple ways of keeping both Ruggie and the darling in line. He's always being so considerate, so "caring" constantly showing them in pricey gifts or treating them over the top fancy restaurants. Anything at all no matter how expensive as long as it keeps them compliant.
These two do make a good team, but it's all manipulation and mind games. When the dust settles did either of them really love you? Or was it all a sick game for the two wild beasts?
Tumblr media
Divus + Sam
Now Divus and Sam are a rather...odd mix. They don't work very well as a team at first, they're constantly bickering arguing over the smallest things. What their darling will wear, what she'll eat, etc, etc
It gets so bad at one point that Divus and Sam actually start a custody battle over the poor darling. The other teachers are intrigued, playing along for their own amusement. At some point, Lilia - only wanting to see how disastrous it will be- suggests a trial like they do in the movies and because the teachers in NRC are over-glorified children themselves that's exactly what they do!
The jury is made up of the dorm leaders, all reluctant to be there -with the exception of Kalim and a very confused Malleus- Ashton is Divus' lawyer, a horrible one at that. The man has no idea what's going on and is constantly yelling "OBJECTION"!  At some point, Azul and Riddle take their gym teacher aside to explain the basic principles of a courtroom to him.  He's slightly better after that bringing in students to testify for professor Crewel after he promises them a passing mark in his class that is.
Mozus is surprisingly a great lawyer, he has the perfect "witness", asks all the right questions and is constantly throwing shade at how bad Ashton is at anything that requires a bit of wit.
Crowley is obviously the judge, he's just happy to be there honestly. The poor bird-man's throat is slowly going raw from the number of times he's screamed at Ashton to quite down, at Leona to wake up, at Kalim to sit down, at Vil to stop checking his makeup and at Idia to get off his dame phone! An hour into the "Trial" and he already has his verdict.
That leaves you, the reason this whole catastrophe started. You're seated by the headmaster, dressed up in a glittering white dress, your hair and makeup done as if you were the guest of honor at some banquet. Your hands are threaded with silver handcuffs identical to those used on criminals if anyone with no prior knowledge to these events was to enter they surely would think that you were the criminal on trial here.
Finally Crowley proposes a split. Divus gets the darling from Sunday to Tuesday, while Sam gets her on Thursday until Saturday. With Wednesday being a day in which they both get their beloved. The setup works for a few weeks, almost shy of a whole month but...
It gets too much, neither men can standing being apart from their lover for three whole dame days! It's to vexing, too taxing. So they find another way, actually, it's Sam that turns up one day at Divus' room looking like a kicked puppy and all but begging to see their darling. Feel a tingle of pity Divus lets him in. This ends up becoming a normal thing. Every time Sam has you Divus will show up in his room and visa versa. They get better at sharing, agreeing with one another, one may even say they start to enjoy each other's company as much as their darling's.
I've loved your non-romantic/platonic content that you've done so far! Adding on to that list, could I please request a short story surrounding MC, Ace, and Deuce? An accident occurs which ends in MC turning into a little kid and now it's up to the two boys to put their differences aside and babysit their friend until she's back to normal. Girl pronouns plz! Lol I can only imagine the chaos that would ensue. If you don't feel comfortable with this ask you can skip it! Thx for reading :)
I am always up for platonic content and shenanigans! Long story, so the rest is under the cut!
Warning: Minor spoilers for side stories (briefly alluded to)
Length: ~2.3K
Tumblr media
“It’s this one!” Deuce declares with unfounded confidence.
“No, it’s not!” Ace rebuttals despite not making it past page 10 in his textbook.
“It’s mine!” Grimm shouts even though he most definitely does not understand the experiment at hand.
The magicless student can only sigh. Deuce and Ace suck at potions. So when the two bicker about what to add to their cauldron, the prefect doesn’t even blink an eye. Deuce mispronounces an ingredient, Ace corrects him, but neither are even talking about the right thing. She can practically sense Crewel’s glare despite her eyes remaining on the cauldron, cautiously waiting for bubbles to appear so she could add the indigo milk cap mushroom.
What is added next to her cauldron is not the mushroom in her hand but a random root Grimm throws in. In Deuce’s haste to catch the gremlin, he spills over his own cauldron and some of their potion spills into hers.
“What are you doing?” she asks, but it’s too late. The mixture in her cauldron is boiling profusely and suddenly envelopes her in a cloud of smoke.
“Funya! MC, are you okay?” Grim inquires. Deuce and Ace also call out her name but there is no response. When the smoke clears, everyone in the room is left speechless.
The potential beast tamer hasn’t moved but an inch but she’s at least two feet shorter and with rounder cheeks and wide eyes.
“WHAT?” she screeches in disbelief, suddenly too short to even reach the cauldron, “Fix this!”
And this is how the group’s long catastrophic day begins.
Adventure 1: The beginning
“What?!” Grim shouts. If looks could kill, Crewel’s glare would have toasted the monster.
“Yes, it is hard to predict when MC will return to normal because you carelessly threw together that potion. It should wear off in a day, but there’s no guarantee,” the teacher explains through gritted teeth. The bell rings but the quartet barely registers it.
“Go to the headmaster! It’s not my problem anymore,” Crewel declares.
Unfortunately, as most meetings with the headmaster are, the conversation is fruitless.
“Hah? We’re supposed to babysit her?” Ace asks.
“Yes! It’s your fault, is it not? Take care of her until the spell wears off,” Crowley declares.
“Isn’t there any way to break the spell?” Deuce inquires while nervously glancing towards MC.
“It’s hard to tell because you added in unknown amounts of various ingredients,” Crowley answers before muttering, “It takes too much time! I need to know what happens next in my novel.”
“Tch, what a lazy adult,” MC comments with a bored expression. She figured this would happen. She can’t even recall a moment when the headmaster had actually been helpful.
“What did you say?” Crowley demands. Deuce immediately picks up MC and heads for the door.
“Nothing! We’ll take care of her! See you later headmaster!” Ace explains while the two boys dash out of the office. They book it out of the hallway and then set her down on the ground.
“Hey! What was that about? It’s usually Grim saying stuff that gets us in trouble, not you,” Ace comments.
“Don’t tell me…Now she acts like a little kid too?” Deuce wonders.
Adventure 2: Stranger Danger
“Oh? Ramshackle prefect, you seem to be caught in quite the predicament.” MC glares at the Octavinelle dorm leader in return. Ace and Deuce are in the midst of calling Cater and Trey to ask for advice, giving Azul the perfect opportunity to approach her.
“I have an offer for you,” the second year begins.
“No.” MC is firm in her answer and has no intention of making any deals.
“Are you sure? I treat children well,” Azul adds but it only results in her frowning. There’s suddenly a glimmer in her eyes but before Azul can deduce what it means, MC begins shouting.
“STRANGER DANGER! STRANGER DANGER!”
“Stop that!” Azul insists but his wide eyes give away his flustered state. With a smile that looks a little too much like Chenya’s, MC continues her call for help. Soon enough, Deuce and Ace rush to her side.
“Stranger? That’s Prefect Azul! Have you forgotten him?” Deuce inquires with a look of concern. MC decides this is the perfect time to practice her puppy eyes and simply looks up at Deuce, wide eyes and with a pout.
Azul silently admits defeat as he forms a tight-lipped smile accompanied by some false pleasantries before exiting the area.
“I’m hungry!” she announces before anyone can question her further.
“Yes! Let’s go eat!” Grim agrees.
Adventure 3: Sweet Dreams
Getting lunch is a surprisingly painless affair. Though Night Raven College students could be quite self-centred, even they balked at harming a little girl. MC easily orders her favourites before sitting with her friends, though she has to sit on her knees to be at a comfortable height compared to the table.
“Wow! It’s true!~” Cater chimes while taking a seat at the table.
“How are you feeling?” Trey asks.
“Okay! It’s kinda weird but at least it was easy to get lunch,” she replies while taking a bite of her food.
“Now you really look like my minion!” Grim declares. MC shoots the monster a glare but doesn’t give him a response.
“You’re actually a little kid, huh? So, what do you wanna do when you grow up?” Ace teases.
“I want to control all the ghosts and have an army,” MC answers nonchalantly as if she had been discussing the weather.
“What?” Trey asks, slightly taken aback. Wasn’t this the person who was gullible enough to think that oyster sauce went in tarts?
“A ghost army,” she repeats confidently.
“Anyway! Aren’t you lucky? You get all these handsome guys to help you today!” Cater interjects, not wanting to unpack why the prefect wanted an army of the dead.
Her gaze scans the table before looking up at Cater, eyes wide and expression void of malice, and asks, “Where?”
Grim howls with laughter while the four Heartslabyul students try to recover from the blow to their ego. It’s definitely going to be a long day for them.
Adventure 4: Smiles and stares
“Hey wait!” MC whines. One disadvantage of becoming short is that her stride decreased accordingly, thus her struggles to keep up with her classmate’s pace.
“Just walk faster or we’ll be late for class!” Ace retorts, glancing up ahead to see how far away the next building is.
“AHH!” Ace turns around to see MC a couple of meters behind him face-first in a patch of grass.
“Uwah! Are you okay?” Grim asks while flying above the fallen girl. Ace groans at the predicament. Deuce ran ahead to warn the other teachers of MC’s unfortunate condition so the redhead was the only babysitter at the moment.
The situation only worsens when MC begins to sit up, knees scraped, eyes glistening with tears, brows furrowed, and lips pressed tightly together. Ace’s eyes widen at the sight.
“Please don’t cry,” he mutters under his breath before trying to think about how to soothe kids.
“Oh my, that was quite a fall. You’re okay now though, right?” Jade asks while extending a gloved hand. His face is calm, showing no signs of concerns or worry with only a placid smile to demonstrate any emotion. MC stares at his face, analyzing his expression for a few moments. After finding the answer to her unsaid question, she accepts his hand and quickly sniffles before nodding.
Ace watches in amazement as all signs of pain and panic vanish from her expression. He decides not to question her mood change before ushering the prefect to their next class.
Adventure 5: What came first? The egg or the chicken?
“You have to!” Deuce insists.
“NO!” MC shouts back, sitting firmly on the ground. Deuce is startled by the force of her words but stands his ground.
“It’s for your own good! Kids need exercise!” Or at least that’s what Cater told him before going to light music club.
“You can’t move me an inch!” MC retorts.
“I’m older, you should respect your seniors,” Deuce adds, doing his best to retain some level of patience.
“At least I know where chickens come from!” she rebuttals and Deuce feels at a loss for words. It is certainly not honour student behaviour to yell at a young girl but the first year is at his limits. He came to NRC to learn about magic, not dealing with children!
“Let’s play tag,” Jack suggests. Being the only one with little siblings, he is quickly enlisted to help. While disappointed in Deuce and Ace’s carelessness, he didn’t want to risk MC’s safety by leaving her in their care. Thus making him a reluctant member of the babysitting team.
“Tag?” MC echoes before a bright smile forms on her face. “Can it be teams?”
“Sure,” Jack agrees nonchalantly.
“Jack and I are on the same team! We get to chase Deuce and Ace!” she declares gleefully.
“Huh? I didn’t agree to this,” Ace interjects.
“We need even teams!” MC responds with puffed cheeks.
“Too bad, so sad!” Ace replies without remorse.
“This is our fault Ace. Plus we promised the headmaster to take care of her. As Heartslabyul students and men, we can’t go back on our words!” Deuce declares. Jack’s firm gaze and Deuce’s blazing spirit give little room for negotiation and Ace sighs in defeat. Ace really does hate alchemy class from the bottom of his heart.
Adventure 6: Idiots, all of them
MC closes her eyes and enjoys the breeze while resting. Deuce and Jack had gone to the cafeteria to get drinks for everyone after several rounds of tag while Ace lay on the ground to catch his breath. It was quite entertaining to see the fastest first years engage in a game of tag and even more fun to watch Ace try to avoid his inevitable fate. Agile as he was, Ace couldn’t run fast enough to outdo Jack with his insane stamina and speed. She giggles at the memory.
“Bonjour petite princesse!” Rook looks down at the little girl with a shining smile. Her eyes snap open and follow the source of the cheerful voice.
“Isn’t it delightful to see a new side to your friends? Like escorting someone on their first dance, like watching a lazy lion transform into a beast for the sake of the hunt, like observing night flox bloom under a full moon!” Rook beams but MC merely shrugs in response.
“Yeah but I’ve also seen Ace fall off his broom, Deuce compliment plants, and Jack mistake onions for a chemical leak.”
“Oh? Is it not like having several princes tend to you?” he inquires.
She scrunches her nose in thought before replying, “If my prince got stuck in a tree and I had to go save him.”
“Dear me, and I thought you were une petite princesse mignonne [1]! Perhaps that was a misunderstanding,” Rook remarks though he doesn’t seem displeased with the discovery.
Adventure 7: Mandatory nap
“Let’s go to the infirmary,” Ace suggests, “MC needs a nap and it’s the closest building with beds.”
“I’m the one that needs a nap?” she asks while side-eyeing her tired friend.
“She hasn’t even run for 3 hours,” Jack comments.
“Kids need naps! Plus, who knows what the side-effects of the potion are?” Ace adds, “We shouldn’t take any chances with her health.”
“You do need proper sleep to grow strong!” Deuce concurs.
“Sure, sure,” she concedes. When they arrive at the infirmary, there is no staff in sight. Ace guides her to a bed with an expectant smile.
“Well, go to sleep now!” Ace announces.
“It doesn’t work like that. I’m not sleepy,” she responds.
“Just lie in bed and close your eyes!” Ace insists with a huff.
“Shut up. You’re so noisy,” a voice growls. Leona appears on the other side of a room divider. Jack lets out a sigh, disappointed but not surprised by his dorm leader.
“I was having such a nice nap and now I’m… hah?” His sentence trails off as he eyes the little girl before him.
“Well,” you launch into an explanation of what happened, Leona shooting a judgemental look towards Deuce and Ace midway, before concluding, “It should wear off by the end of the day.”
“Tch, what an annoyance. I’m going back to sleep, don’t be loud,” Leona warns before flopping back onto the bed.
“How do you fall asleep so fast?” MC inquires. Leona glares at her, lips pressed together to form a thin line, but he lets any threats die in his throat.
“It’s nap time. Count sheep like a good herbivore until you fall asleep,” he instructs before turning his back towards the group. More than she’d like to admit, her small body requires rest and what better excuse than this? Besides, it’s not like magical history homework was particularly appealing, so she plops onto the bed to rest.
“I’m exhausted. Taking care of kids is tiring,” Ace says before falling onto another bed.
“It’s been a long day. I’m glad MC is okay, though. Haaah…I’m sleepy,” Deuce murmurs before resting on a different bed. Jack doesn’t comment but quietly begins his homework while keeping watchful eye on the little girl, not that he’d admit it if asked.
Adventure 8: The End. For now, anyway
She stretches after waking up, pleased to find her body back to its normal size. Ace snores lightly, Deuce’s mouth is agape, and Leona is nowhere to be found.
“Are you feeling okay?” Jack asks.
“Yeah, I actually feel pretty good!” Their conversation awakens their friends.
“You’re finally back to normal! I’m relieved,” Deuce interjects.
“You’re a lot of work for a minion, ya know? You’re lucky I’m so great,” Grim comments.
“That was a pain! You owe me big time!” Ace adds. MC shakes her head and wonders if she has the greatest or most chaotic friends.
“You shouldn’t feel embarrassed for falling during the balancing poses.” Anathema said. “Yoga is about finding what works for you.”
“And what works for Aziraphale, apparently, is that bit at the end where you just lie down like a lump.” Crowley laughed. He was just as sweaty as Aziraphale but somehow managed to hide it, while the angel looked like a flustered older woman having a hot flash.
“You both did great.” Anathema lied. “Crowley, the teacher even complimented your Cobra pose!”
“Well she WOULD, wouldn’t she!?” Aziraphale gave Crowley a little glare for obviously cheating.
It’s Pomefiores own sour apple birthday today! Crowley managed to track him down and persuade him to participate in the festive activities. It’s only once a year after all! Poor boy has never celebrated his birthday before, so Crowley wanted to make it extra special for him, for he is so kind. Would you be brave enough to wish him a happy birthday?
Card base by @alpyssketch (Thank you!)
Birthday story under cut:
Yuu: Happy Birthday Nathaniel! Although, you don’t look so happy. Is something wrong?
Nathaniel: Happy? You expect me to be happy? Whatever for? These tacky decorations? The unwanted guests? Or perhaps I should crack a smile at this joke of an outfit the headmaster forces us to wear, only to parade us around to make us feel ‘special’. No. There is nothing to be happy about. I find this entire experience quite mortifying in all honesty. If I had the right to execute everyone in this room, I would have done it by now.
Yuu: ...
Nathaniel: What are you gandering at? If you have no business here move along. I don’t have time to waste on commoners like yourself.
Yuu: ...I just wanted to bring you a present.
Nathaniel: I see... Well forgive me for stifling my excitement. I’m not used to receiving gifts from the peasantry. You can put it to the side for now, I’m not really in the mood to be perusing gifts. Especially from the likes of you. What is it? No doubt it would be something worthless. No matter, I’m going to throw it out anyway unless it benefits me. Although I must say, it is strange actually receiving gifts for once.
Yuu: What was your birthday like back home?
Nathaniel: Lacklustre. You could treat it like any other day. Nothing changed apart from my age. Even the servants seemed reluctant to talk to me. Maybe if I was lucky my fencing teacher would tell me I did a good job. But no, nothing of interest ever happens. My father on the other hand... His birthday is always planned months in advance. Everyone in the kingdom knows about it, they have to. Mother has no problem saving no expense for her ‘husband dearest’. A massive masquerade ball, a feast fit for the gods, and the most lavished jewels adorning the kings crown. A fool dressed up in front of his entire kingdom. That’s who birthdays are for. Fools.
Yuu: Does it feel weird to have a day celebrated just for you?
Nathaniel: ... It feels... Odd. I’m not sure how to feel really. Should I be thankful? Because I don’t. I never wanted any of this. It all just seems too much. I never really cared for celebrating unnecessary things like birth. Those types of celebrations are more befitting for the peasantry. Just another celebration to try and distract them from their miserable lives. Imagine making up celebrations just to simulate some serotonin into your system. Pathetic.
Yuu: You’re making it really difficult for me to wish you a good day.
Nathaniel: Then don’t. Your words won’t magically improve my mood just because you wish them so... But I suppose I should congratulate you for showing up. Maybe you’re braver than I thought, or just stupid. No matter. What I meant to say is... Thank you... Now get out of my sight, just looking at you is causing me eye strain.
My Good Omens prompt:
Tea room AU
Ok so my Good Omens hyperfixation has passed but I’m still very fond of the show and I have this little prompt that won’t leave my head that I wanted to share. Tell me what you think! (I’m not a writer, this is only a draft explaining the major points of the story and English isn’t my first language so please be lenient with me! If you find major errors please tell me and I’ll try to correct them)
One day a young woman comes to Aziraphale’s bookshop and he, of course, tries to make her leave so she won’t buy anything.
Except she doesn’t want to buy anything; she just came to the shop because bookshops are quiet, intriguing and familiar places and as she starts explaining that to him, rambling, thinking the reason why Aziraphale looks annoyed is because she doesn’t want to buy books when it’s really the contrary, Aziraphale decides that he likes the young woman.
But suddenly she stops rambling and starts crying and Aziraphale panics and fuss and makes her tea and asks her what is going on.
At first she’s reluctent to speak to him but he uses a bit of his angelic grace to make her feel at ease and convinces her to talk to him even tho he’s a total stranger and she doesn’t want to bother him. But for some reason he doesn’t feel like a stranger and he’s the nicest person she’s met in a long while so she starts telling him everything; that she’s an exchange student from another country who’s only accepted to come to England because her parents and teachers pressured her by saying how incredible an opportunity it was. And she loves to travel and has always wanted to come to London but she came here alone and now she feels super lonely and sad and that’s why she came to the bookshop; to escape the reality in a place full of thousands of worlds that she can lose herself into.
Aziraphale, already full on intending to adopt this lost child, tells her that she can come anytime she wants to read the books, have a cup of tea and talk.
So she comes a few times each week to talk with him and after a few weeks she asks why no one ever buys his books. He ends up confessing that he doesn’t actually want to sell his books and that he already has enough money that he doesn’t need to.
“But you let me read your books...”
“Well of course! You seem to really appreciate them and you never leave with any of them so it’s fine! ”
So she keeps coming, they keep talking and she keeps reading. He even let her study in the bookshop when she needs one of his books for a homework.
“Here my dear, have some tea.”
“I can’t! What if I drop it on your book? ”
“Don’t worry, they all have a special coating, you can’t stain them”
It’s actually magic of course - Crowley made a little miracle after the not-pocalypse so none of Aziraphale’s book can be destroyed or damaged in any way anymore - but she’s spent enough time at the bookshop by now to know that she shouldn’t question Aziraphale so she just rolls with it.
“Mr. Aziraphale?”
“Yes my dear?”
“If you’re ok with people reading your books but not buying them... why don’t you open some sort of library tea room where people could come to study or read without actually buying any books? I mean, from what you told me the books can’t be stained and this way you wouldn’t have to make so much efforts to make the clients leave all the time.”
“Oh...”
And since Aziraphale doesn’t have to leave all the time to make miracles here and there anymore he has more free time and ends up really liking the idea; so they rearange the bookshop into a tea room.
Crowley comes to help of course - he and the girl warms up to each other when they find that they both love Queen - and they transform the whole place in a single weekend.
Aziraphale works in the tea room himself most of the time but he also hires the girl to work part-time (so he can go on dates with Crowley) and quite fast it becomes a very popular place amongst students, teachers and all sorts of book lovers (Anathema loves the place) who comes to consult Aziraphale’s books, study or just chat with friends.
So that’s it for now, I hope you appreciated this very self-indulgent idea!
I wish you all a good day!
Bobby who was still reluctant helped you to shoot inanimate objects and some basic hand to hand combat with no weapons, because in his words “you won’t always have a weapon on you so that’s the best place to start.” You are pretty sure it’s just because he is buying time before the brothers come into town so they can deal with the more athletic training. Not because Bobby wasn’t good, he was but he was quite impatient and not the best Teacher.
Time Skip to the Next Saturday Night brought to you by Juliet.
The last week consisted of a few training lessons here and there, you were starting to get really good with a gun, and to Bobby’s ‘luck’ he did some blade training and you actually weren’t half bad. Right now, you were eating takeaway, 8pm, on the sofa with Bobby watching some old tv show.
“So kid, Winchesters are coming round tomorrow. Want me to pick you up from church to save you walking so you can see the two idjits sooner, I know you miss them”. He said emphasising miss in a teasing manor.
“Oh yeah soo much” You replied rolling your eyes. “But no, I’m good, I’m actually going out after for some coffee”.
“So, you and Lena finally meeting outside of church?”
“Nope”
“Wait so who are you meeting with then? A new boyfriend of yours? If so, I want to meet him first.”
“What? No, I’m not completely sure, just a group of us meeting up after church.”
“What do you mean you don’t know. Who asked you? That old woman that lives next to the church because if so, I wouldn’t go she will just talk everyone’s ear of about her cats”
“No, the Priest actually just to share ideas about the bible after.”
“Right well err have a good time?” He replied unsure
“Thanks Bobby I’m gonna head up now and sort everything out and go to bed”
“Don’t use up all my water, I’ll see you after your coffee, call me if you want a lift.”
“will do, night”
“Night kid.”
*Beep Beep* Your alarm read 8:30 Sunday. You go up and got showered and dressed. You opted for an outfit which made you look good but it was still simple and casual, whether you were trying a bit harder because you were seeing Crowley or because the boys were coming you wouldn’t say. You grabbed an easy snack and decided to take the scenic route as you had 30 minutes to get there and you didn’t want to wait around. You arrived exactly at 9:32 and waited a few minutes before walking in, no sign of Lena anywhere, strange. Your seats however remained empty, so you sat once again on the seconded row back. Just as you received a message.
Lena- Sorry my mums not feeling well so I’ve had to take my brother to football. Hope service is good.
(Y/N)- No problem, have fun at football.
You replied before muting your phone and sliding it away just as Crowley came out.
“Good Morning…………………………………Thank you all for coming. Bless you all and I shall see you next week.”
Looking up at the clock reading 10:30, everyone stood up and headed out the door, you however being unsure of where you were going for coffee waited at the end of the pew, letting other passed. You didn’t really focus on the topic at hand but hoped you could blag your way through the teachings of rich man and Lazarus. As everyone left Crowley once again was behind you smiling.
“(Y/N) how are you?”
“Hi, I’m good thank you, how are you doing?” you reply, once again you feel strangely flustered.
“Better now that’s over and we can go get coffee.”
“Oh yeah about that where are we meeting?”
“I was thinking the little café down 3 blocks over. Small and easy to find a table.”
“Mrs Wolowitz’s?”
“Yes, That’s it”
“I think I know the way; well you better go, and I’ll meet you guys there” You say about to head off.
“I’m sorry love, you must be mistaken I meant just the two of us. If that’s alright”
“Yeah no sorry that more the fine, I just assumed.” You stuttered out. You hadn’t meant to jump to a conclusion but that seemed more likely then just you two going out for coffee. Alone in a small café. Damn it (Y/N) stop thinking again.
“Do you want to follow me in my car? In case you get lost?”
“Oh um.” You awkwardly laughed. “I actually walk here so I’ll get it up on my phone”
“No, no don’t be stupid you’re going in my car.”
“I wouldn’t want to intrude”
“No come on let’s go.”
The car ride was short and pretty much silent but not awkward. You were nervous but also happy you weren’t going to be stuck with a bunch of old Christians arguing about meanings. Before you got out the car, he took his clerical collar of leaving him in a normal black shirt. You got out, got a table and ordered your drinks, and reluctantly allowed Crowley to pay.
“So, Y/N how did you find todays service?” Crowley asked looking straight at you for an answer.
“Oh um, it was good” you replied suddenly feeling nervous and unsure of how to answer. You were sat in a café, with an attractive Pastor whose stare seemed to go straight through you.
“Anything to add? Any views on the passage?” Crowley said seeming slightly distracted.
“Not really no. Sorry maybe you start an idea and I’ll add?”
“I don’t really have any either, well to be honest with you I would rather get to know you then your views on the bible.”
“Me?” you smiled, this just got better now it’s apparent you probably aren’t going to be sat discussing the bible over the next half hour or so.
“Yes you” he replied a small smile resting on his lips.
“Well what do you want to know?” you didn’t really know what sort of thing to tell him so thought it best to just ask.
“Well how about we play a game?”
“A game?”
“Yes, a game, you know an activity one engages in for fun?” his smile turning slightly into a smirk.
“Oh, thanks I didn’t know what a game was, what sort of game?”
“I ask a question and you ask one back?” he paused “if you would like, if you wanted to sit around and talk about bibles, we could ask biblical ones”
“No normal questions are fine; you can start since I don’t know what games are” you say sarcastically.
Just then the waiter came and delivered your drinks, nodding his head slightly at your companion before he left. You took a sip of your drink as Crowley moved on; this wasn’t what you though this evening would be but it’s definitely an improvement.
“If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?”
“(Y/A) {your answer}”
“Why?”
“It just seems perfect. I could see myself walking around and just admiring everything there you know?”
“Well hopefully one day you’ll go.” Crowley took a sip of his steaming drink and returned to looking at you. Really looking at you, it was weird, like he was genuinely interested in what you were saying. “I’ve been a few times and I must say the {landmark} is beautiful to visit.”
“One day I will see it, anyway you seem like you’ve been to loads of places where have you been?”
“Pretty much everywhere, I do enjoy travelling.”
“wow, I wish” you sigh out.
“Do you travel?”
“Not really, when I was younger me and my parents would move around America but that stopped a while ago.”
“Oh, how come?”
“They died so I moved in with my godfather and haven’t left town since, I know if he could we would go but he needs to stay here for work and everything and now I’m blabbing on again sorry.” You said it more as a fact mentally ready for the normal oh I’m sorry and what happened and are you okay to come.
“No don’t apologise I’m interested and I’m sorry to hear about them but your godfather sounds like a good man, and maybe one day you can travel again, maybe even the world, what do you plan on being in the future?”
“Definitely the plan, and I’m not sure yet. What about you have you always dreamed of being a pastor?”
“No, definitely not. I’m only a substitute pastor anyway if there’s such a thing.”
“what do you do then when you’re not?”
“I guess you could say I’m a businessman, I mainly make deals and such.”
“oh, is that why you always travel?” You say looking down at your drink and sipping.
“Exactly why my job requires a lot of popping to places. Now if you will humour me, I’m curious, you go to church but don’t seem completely religious, is that so?”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t mean to offend you, but I notice you zoning out during teaching and you just seem… I don’t know how to put it.”
“Well if I’m honest I’m not sure about it really. The whole believing in God thing. I mean I’m sure he’s there, but I don’t think there’s much he can do.”
“So why go?”
“Well my mum used to always take me and well it makes me feel closer to her, I’m sorry if that offends you.”
“Not at all, not at all” he said a slight smirk on his face again.
This was weird, not in a bad way but weird. As the time passed, he started to become even less like a pastor and more like a friend. You continued sharing random stories finding out how he grew up in Scotland and all about his random like and dislikes. He was a nice guy and you no longer felt nervous. Time went by and you both ordered another drink. Now your cups were sitting empty and you were discussing what the best era would be to live through, when your phone beeps.
12:51
Bobby: Hey, hows the discussions going, what time do you think your going to leave I dont know if I can deal with them alone any longer and theyve only been here 3 hours as it is.
You: oh, sorry I didn’t realise the time, um ill finish my drink and leave soon. Tell them I say hi.
You slid your phone into you pocket and looked back up at Crowley. Wow you had been sat talking for over two hours.
“Everything okay?” he asked
“Yeah everything is fine just didn’t realise the time. Sorry I’m going to have to go in a minuet I have guests over and completely forgot.”
“No problem, would you like a lift back?”
“I can walk it’s fine.”
“Please at least let me drop you of at the church, I need to pick up some things there anyway.”
“Okay.”
With that the two of you got back into his car and arrived back at the church both getting out and standing in the completely deserted parking lot.
“Thank you for the lift, and the drinks.” You smiled checking you had everything and looking up at him.
“No problem I had a good time, and maybe if you would like I could get your number and we could do it again sometime, get to know each other a bit more, maybe over some food.”
If you didn’t know any better it would sound like a date offer, in fact part of you wishes it had been but pastors don’t date, do they?
“Yeah sounds good today was fun.” You grab your phone pulling up your number.
“I’m sorry that may not have been clear enough” he said looking at your phone and entering your number into his. “I was referring to going out on a date.”
“But you’re a priest?” you blurt out before thinking. Mentally slapping your head.
“A substitute priest love, and like you I don’t hold religion too close to my heart” he said chuckling and putting his phone away.
“Well in that case that sounds great. I better start heading back but text me.”
“I will, safe walk home, if you’re sure you don’t want a lift.”
“I’m sure, goodbye Crowley”
“Goodbye Y/N”
And with that you left. What just happened?
*Times Skip Home*
You walk through the door into the lounge greeted with the boys and bobby drinking beers and talking, coming to a halt when you walked in.
“Y/N, hey how have you been” Sam asks looking up at you smiling. Before you could answer Dean butted it.
“Y/N Bobby here tells us you’ve been out talking about the bible, please tell me you haven’t it’s like half one.”
“Nice to see you to Dean, and no I haven’t I met with a friend. I’m great thank you Sam, how are you?” you reply going to sit down before realising a pair of legs in the way. “Deans move your legs”
Reluctantly he swung them over the coffee table allowing you to sit down.
“Good thank you” you’re not sure if Sam would have continued but bobby spoke up.
“A friend? You said you were meeting with a group of you, lying, now are we?”
“what? No, I just got a bit confused we were going to talk about the service but we got distracted. But what’s more important is what you two have been up to.” You reply casually leaving out the fact you had spent the last two hours with a male and had half planned a date.
“No, what’s more important is you are 18. And we have something for you.” Sam said poking his head around Dean.
“Sammy’s right Dean said pulling something out his duffle bag. It was neatly wrapped and slightly battered around the edges. Sam definitely wrapped it.
“Guys you shouldn’t have.” You said unwrapping it. At first you saw a leather-bound book. It was bound with a rope wrapped around and decorated with a light house on the front.
“Open it up (Y/N/N)” Sam said.
Unwinding the rope, you opened it up to find postcards and pictures from the boys, all in Sam’s writing.
“We, well I thought you could have a journal to note down anything you want its always good to have one. The postcards and stuff are from each of the places me and Dean have been. We knew you wanted to go, and you always want to here stories so I thought it would be a good way to make it seem like you were there.”
“Sam it perfect thank you so much.” You stood up and hugged him before taking a seat back down noticing Dean had a scruffier package in his hand.
Accepting it and opening it Dean began.
“I’m not as thoughtful as Sam but I saw this, and thought would like it.”
It was a rope necklace with a stone on the end. Under the stone was a small piece of card with a handwritten message explaining the stones properties of protection and healing. You read it and put it on twiddling the stone in your fingers (You can change stone to your liking).
Tumblr media
“It’s beautiful Dean thank you very much” you say leaning over to hug him.
“I’m glad” he says pulling back smiling.
The evening goes on, you order food and joke with each other, Bobby leaving to go to bed and the three of you falling asleep sprawled out on the couch and armchair around 11pm
Wow that was long and mainly build up, but don’t worry romance will be in the next one.  I hope you enjoyed this though, thanks for reading.
Weekly Writing
Something a little different this week. This is some Good Omens fanfiction that I wrote shortly after I watched the show. A little bit of backstory on sort of why I wrote this. So I read Good Omens when I was in High school, after one of my English teachers had introduced me to Neil Gaiman’s writing via the graphic novel series, Sandman. After hearing about Good Omens, and being in the midst of a deep obsession with Supernatural, I started searching every bookstore I went to for the novel. I eventually found it at Joseph Beth and read it in about a day. Obviously, I quickly fell in love with the novel and pretty much everything about it. In college, I was able to get my friend, @name123things, to read the book after getting her into Supernatural as well. I think my exact words were “Well, if you like the apocalypse stuff happening here, you should read Good Omens.” She too fell in love with the story, and we began waiting for about two years for the show to be released. We watched the whole thing the night it premiered on Amazon Prime and then spent about four hours afterwards  talking about how it blew all of our expectations out of the water. The next day, I couldn’t get Crowley’s emotional scene in the bar after the bookshop burnt to the ground out of my head, which inspired me to write this little one shot.
______________________________________________________________________         This was important. He had to know. He just had to. Otherwise it would bother him for the rest of the night, and he would be miserable. And while he wasn’t the happiest of beings, he had an easy solution to this particular problem and he was determined. This was a good idea. He knew it. He just had to be sure.
         Crowley banged his fist harder against the auburn door. One more minute and he’d be breaking the damned thing down. Probably. Aziraphale didn’t take kindly to vandalism. But this was important, damn it. And he could just miracle the door back together or something. No problem. Hell, if people would just stop staring at him like he was crazy, that would be fantastic. Didn’t they know he was doing something important? Just leave him be.
         Aziraphale cracked the door open, his tartan pajamas barely visible in the dim light of the book shop. He had a concerned look on his face, which made Crowley’s nerves spike.
          “Crowley? What’s happened? It’s two in the morning.” Crowley grabbed the angel’s arm in a firm grip and took in a deep breath. His head seemed to clear for a brief moment and, now satisfied, he felt a little foolish standing here on the book shop’s doorstep.
         “Nothing. ‘m gonna head home.”
         “Wait. You can’t leave.” He stopped, not turning to face the angel. “You’re in no state to drive back. Honestly, I can’t fathom how you made it here in one piece. Come inside.” Crowley closed his eyes and weighed his options. If he went inside, Aziraphale would press him with questions, that he was sure of. Besides, he longed for his nice apartment. There he could sit and dwell without prying eyes. Yes, he should just walk away now.
         But then Aziraphale would be disappointed. He’d make that face. The one where his eyes got wide and he pinched his lips like he was holding in how upset he was. He’d fidget with his sleeves and sway side to side a little. He’d watch Crowley walk all the way to the car and wouldn’t shut the door until the Bentley was out of site.
         Crowley turned around and walked into the book shop.
         “Crowley, please tell me what’s the matter. I’m worried about you.” Crowley was seated in the leather armchair across from Aziraphale. Their postures were polar opposites, as was usually the case. The angel sat on the edge of his seat, a cup of cocoa beside him that had sat untouched for the better part of the last ten minutes. His eyes never left the man across from him. The demon, on the other hand, was lounging. One leg was folded over the arm of the chair while his upper body was turned away, not even facing the man addressing him.
               “You worry too much,” He grumbled back, but there was a layer of exhaustion underneath it.
         “I feel I worry the necessary amount. You never act irrationally. I just want to make sure you are alright.” There was that face again. How could an angel look so much like a kicked puppy? Crowley was convinced he knew the power that look had. He may play innocence, but after six thousand years, he knew some subtle manipulation. The demon had to hand it to him, there was a little pride in witnessing it. Preferably not directed at him, as it often was.
         “Had to make sure.”
         “What?” Aziraphale leaned forward. Any further and he might topple out of the chair. Crowley scrunched up his nose while his stomach did some sort of flip. He hated talking about things. Personal things. Feelings things. It was all too serious. They’d been doing serious for the last week. Couldn’t everything just go back to how it was before?
         “I had to make sure, okay?”
         “Make sure of what?”
         “That you were-” He gestured at the angel in a vague way. After a couple seconds of connecting the dots, Aziraphale’s eyes grew wide. There was the pity. Ugh. Crowley pulled off his glasses and tossed them to the side, slumping further down in the chair. “Doesn’t matter. It was stupid anyway.”
         “It’s not stupid. We both went through quite a lot these last couple weeks, and neither of us have discussed any of it.”
         “Discussion’s not really our forte,” Crowley chuckled, picking at an invisible spot on his trousers.
          “No, it’s really not.” They sat in silence for a while, taking in everything that had happened with the Apocalypse-That-Almost-Was. They had both almost died. Multiple times. Had fought. Sometimes with each other, sometimes against. For the first time in six thousand years they had to face who they were and what they meant to each other. That was a lot to take in. And they had dealt with it the way they had dealt with all other difficult things that had happened to them. They had tried to ignore it. But this wasn’t an argument over the acquirement of Holy Water, or almost being shot by Nazi spies. This had been different.
         “’m sorry.” Crowley was the first to break the silence.
         “For what? Knocking earlier? There’s nothing to apologize for.”
         “No, not that. I wasn’t here. When you…” He gritted his teeth, looking disgusted with himself.
         “Now, Crowley. That wasn’t your fault.”
         “Of course, it was. I yelled at you. Said horrible things. Drove off. I hung up on you when you tried to call-”
         “You were being attacked-”
         “And then when I finally made it here everything was burning, and I ran in and I screamed,” He looked up at Aziraphale, his yellow eyes full of pain from the memory, “I screamed for you over and over, but you were gone. You were dead. And I wasn’t here to save you. I’m always there, but I wasn’t. And you were dead. You were dead, and it was all my damned fault.” At this he stood suddenly and started pacing around the room. He’d let Aziraphale down. It was the one thing he could be counted on, and he had failed. He was so disgusted with himself. The one thing he cared about on this whole damned planet and he couldn’t manage to keep it safe. How useless was he?
         A soft hand grabbed his wrist lightly, but the touch made him stop. He couldn’t bring himself to turn to face the angel.
         “I’m not dead. I’m right here. I’m alright.” The other man’s hand slid down his wrist and their fingers entwined. Crowley squeezed Aziraphale’s hand like it was a lifeline. “It’s not your job to save me, Crowley. I appreciate it. I always do. But if something were to happen to me, that wouldn’t make it your fault. Your job is not to protect me, as mine is not to protect you.” Crowley took a deep breath and closed his eyes. After a couple seconds, he felt a hand run through his hair in a soothing rhythmic manner. Hell, that felt good. Something began to burn in the back of his throat. Something that had to do with emotions, Crowley was certain.
         Crowley finally released his hand but was reluctant to do so. He slipped them into his pockets to stop himself from reaching out again. At this, the hand in his hair, gently pulled away, and he had to actively hold back a whine. There was only so much emotional crap he could deal with in one sitting, and he was reaching his quota.
         “I should head out. It’s late.” He leaned down to retrieve his glasses and slid them back over his eyes, shielding them from Aziraphale’s knowing gaze. He felt like he should apologize for showing up, but the angel had already said there was nothing to apologize for on the matter. Then should he say thank you? No, that felt wrong. He settled for a small wave and a half smile, turning on his heel towards the door.
         “Wait.” Crowley paused again, only a couple feet from the door. “You could stay. I want you to stay. As you said, it’s late and you are already here.”         “Well,” He took a couple steps back and spun around once more. “If you’re tempting.”
Should I Convert to Judaism?
On Tumblr I’ve seen posts claiming that Kabbalah is a totally closed practice which should only be taken up by ethnic Jews or Jewish converts. They claim that any gentile who integrates it into an occult practice is engaging in gross appropriation. I’ve received at least a couple of messages accusing me of gross appropriation (which led me to consider doing something drastic with my pages on Tumblr). It’s true that I’m a gentile, but I am not making things up when I say that it may not be as closed as closed as many claim. It’s true that Judaic Kabbalah has been historically closed. It’s true that even today many rabbis are reluctant to teach it to other Jews, much less gentiles.
However, I’ve also heard and read about how other rabbis and writers trained under them have begun sharing Kabbalah—including practical Kabbalah—more freely out of a sense of humanity’s need. Upon request I can show some of the books that I own from such writers. I try to be selective in which books I buy and absorb, searching for books rooted in actual Jewish tradition and not just one or two Crowley-influenced books. Just before typing this I ran a search for “good books on Kabbalah” and added a couple of such books to my wish list on Amazon, including—finally—what looks to be an accessible introduction to the Zohar. Yes, I’m taking steps to correct the lack of familiarity with the sources.
I acknowledge that cultural appropriation and colonization are topics of discourse based in grave reality. I’ve tried to do my small part to correct the errors and crimes in history by speaking up for other groups of people. It’s also true that discourse on Tumblr can be especially dicey. Tumblr has a reputation has a hive of vehement “social justice warriors”. It’s hard to tell to what extent “Jewish Tumblr” represents the whole Jewish community—though I dare not dismiss Jews on Tumblr! Jews on Tumblr who are passionate about preserving their lives and their heritage—in a time when antisemitism is being mainstreamed before our eyes—are human beings worthy of respect. I wouldn’t call passionate advocates on Tumblr “social justice warriors” as that is usually a term of ridicule.
Social justice is no joke, and no thoughtful person should dismiss it as a joke. Take something small like one-dimensional, overtly sexualized depictions of women in comics and games and movies. At best they can be a hack writer’s idea of strong sexy women. At worst they can be an extension of a failure to see women as full human beings, whether individually or socially. Now look at how Jews have been persecuted or ridiculed or robbed. I will still note that, according to at least one or two of my books, there were also people who genuinely sought spiritual and occult insights from Jews.
On a side note, very recently I finally noticed the unfortunate juxtaposition of the Runes and the Tree of Life on my magical altar. I meant nothing more than to integrate my own Northern European heritage, but until now I was only dimly aware how incongruous Runes look when they are exploited by Nazis. I plan to replace the set of runestones with a pendulum in the near future.
Also, I want to note that my somewhat clumsy search for a new spiritual path precedes my decision to take up magic. I simply sought a genuine spirituality and eventually decided that I should be a magician as well as a communicant. I want to commune with God and the positive spirits as well as actively work with them on a spiritual level.
Why am I drawn to Kabbalah? Perhaps my own readings of my books help clarify my attraction. God is not just some invisible warlord in the sky. God is the source of all being. Divine light pervades all things while at the same time humans have the duty to return sparks of light to God. God has an imprint in all things, especially humans. Humans have divinity within. God is the source of all light, life, and love. God is light, life, and love. God seems silent and absent, but God is in truth present within all things and humans are supposed to work with God. God allows humans to join in His work.
Yet my recent history with Kabbalah and the issues of appropriation led me to think heavy thoughts. Should I convert to Judaism? Should I seek formal adoption into the Jewish family? Such a solemn commitment is not to be made lightly. That's a major reason why I am sharing this journal entry.
Sadly, a time of pandemic is absolutely not a time to start randomly popping into synagogues and community centers (which are likely to be closed anyway). Even if not for the pandemic, though, I don’t know what sorts of teachers would willingly take me as a student when I already have an interest in Kabbalah and Kabbalah-derived magic—many rabbis reject magic as a practice (supposedly many Jews aren’t even aware of a magical tradition) or just might think I’m not mature enough to even glance at Kabbalah. There are also strong divergences within the Jewish community and I wouldn’t know which sort of congregation I should join. I also don’t know how ready I am to take on the religious laws, especially when there are many interpretations of them and different ideas of how they apply to daily life.
I dare not pretend to be a sage. I’ve tried to construct my sentences and choose my words to show an appropriate humility in speaking of marginalized people. I am merely a random man wishing for communion, wisdom, renewal, and love. That is why I’ve been drawn to esotericism and spiritualism. It may be that the Jewish community, even if only in the broadest sense, will turn out to be the home where I live as a magician for God. Where will my pilgrimage on God’s wounded though beautiful earth lead me? God only knows.
GCSE Science Revision Courses
LEARN WITH MASTERMINDS
“A teacher’s Cry”
“A bumpy road”
Here I am, in a position to transfer my passion, knowledge and skills in science to the younger generation. Working at a school could not be better where I have the opportunity to interact with children and make a difference. However, as I take the journey of becoming an “expert teacher” progress slows due to a few bumpy roads.
Bumpy road one…..packed class sizes, a teacher to student ratio of 1:30. There is no doubt that in every class variation in abilities exist. A powerful tool to tackle these variations lies with a teacher’s ability to plan effective lessons. During the first year of my Teacher training, I have participated in small group interventions. It was evident, that varying abilities even existed within higher ability groups. Observing colleagues, being reflective on my own teaching practice, engaging in weekly readings and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions have enhanced my teaching practice and pedagogy. This leads to improvements when dealing with differences in abilities. Crowley et al., 2018 stated in “The Ultimate Guide to Differentiation” that there are a variety of factors that affect how children learn and should be taken into consideration when lesson planning. Some examples are pupils’ special educational needs (SEN), differences in abilities, speaking English as an additional language (EAL students), physical disabilities, age group and the level of prior knowledge, motivation and concentration. The scariest question I ask myself frequently as a teacher is whether the needs of all my pupils being met. Even though there is room for improvements within the other teaching standards, I can honestly admit that I have found teaching standard five the most challenging. In accordance with teaching standard five, teachers should use a variety of differentiated approaches to adapt to learning for varying abilities. A teacher’s awareness of the factors that can inhibit a pupil’s learning can be combat by keeping up to date with recent research, applying new strategies within the classroom and critically evaluating and reflecting on strategies trialled. It is also vital to have an understanding of how pupils learn throughout their stages of development. All of our Mastermind programs are based on a teacher-student ratio of 1:10. Lessons are planned before delivery to cater for varying abilities. Revision courses are also based on examiners reports; a report produced yearly that concludes all the topics and skills of difficulty faced by the students that took the actual exams that year. Our small class sizes also come in handy for our live online-required laboratory experiments that are tested on the actual exams. These experiments are explained in detailed so that students obtain rich knowledge on scientific concepts.
Bumpy road two……..” The best place for students to learn is at school with their peers”. A study showed that most children hate school. In a way, I do agree with the children’s feeling. Put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel in you were sat in a classroom and being taught to pass an exam rather than having the opportunity to do other “fun stuff”? One of the factors mentioned earlier, that could inhibit a pupil’s ability to learn is lack of motivation (Crowley, 2018).  It is not surprising that some students struggle terribly with academics. Some schools do not cater for non- academic students; I strongly believe that due to the lack of choices, some students become disengaged. For example, some students may be interested in more “Hands-on” courses such as hair and beauty, sewing or carpentry.  Claxton et al., 2008 states that children do not like school due to a rather boring curriculum. The study concluded that teachers felt that schools were more about passing examination results rather than teaching life skills that aid students in their transformation into adulthood. Some of the subjects that teachers thought would be beneficial to the curriculum were global awareness, human rights and managing risks. In addition, Teachers also thought that the following courses would make difference ethics, body awareness, resilience, and relaxation. A study “Draw a teacher” in Finland consisted of 428 fifteen-year-old students and 134 of their teachers. The study concluded that both teachers and students agreed with the values that an ideal teacher should possess. Some of the frequent ideals included honesty, forgiveness, loyalty, broadmindedness, equality and world at peace (Ellis, 2013). Children view teachers as role models; expectations should be set and maintained through consistency. Children will follow suit resulting in successful lesson outcomes. Masterminds courses do not only focus on academics, but we also conduct a lot of fun and engaging activities that focus on transferable skills. Report cards are sent home to parents three times a year that focuses on both academics and transferable skills. Parents also have the opportunity to attend face-to-face online meetings to discuss pupil’s progress. Our expectations are high for all our students and we act as positive role models so that children can follow suit.
Bumpy Road three……. Here at Learn with Masterminds we want to push our students but at the right level! Schools are singing the same song in a teacher’s ear. The kids need a challenge! The kids need a challenge! Can challenge always be seen as good? The level of challenge can inhibit pupils’ learning. Author Cowley S. could not have stated it better in the author’s “Top ten teaching tips”. It is important to be “flexible” and know how to “strike a balance”. If the content is too simple or difficult this may allow students to become off task or disengage completely from the lesson (Cowley, 2013). Vygotsky states that social interaction is the key to learning. This is because people learn through the experiences of others. Vygotsky stated that people learn from MKO (Most Knowledgeable Others) in a Zone of Proximal Development. The Zone of Proximal Development is an area where learning takes place with the help of an MKO. The Zone of Proximal Development is an aspect of scaffolding and can be best achieved by assessing a student’s prior knowledge, encouraging group work, allowing an MKO to lead the group, breaking down complex information into simpler forms and introducing the challenge to stretch an individual out of their comfort zone. Scaffolding a building provides it with structure, as the building progresses the scaffolds are removed. Scaffolding techniques can be used through modelling to explain a task thoroughly; students -teacher interactions can be used to boost practice. As the student's practice increases, the level of teacher support should decrease gradually. As the level of challenge increases, the level of competency also increases within an individual’s zone of proximal development. If the work is too difficult, students can become disengaged and if the work is too easy, students could become bored, increasing behavioural problems (Bates, 2019). Learn with Mastermind courses are strongly based on Vygotsky’s theory of learning and Rosenshine’s ten principles on instruction with aspects of the challenge being pitched at the right level.
Bumpy road four… The school curriculum seems separate but we should bring maths, geography into science, English into science. All these subjects should be taught in a way that shows students a linkage. However, for some reason students perceive all these subjects as different. For example in biology students are taught Ecology, this is a brilliant time to talk about global warming which should have been learned in geography! Learn with masterminds Implements Maths and English into science! These workshops aid to enhance graphing, data analysis, grammar and punctuation skills. Why should English and Mathematics be implemented across science? In 2007, 44% of students obtained a baseline pass in GCSEs (Minimum of five GCSEs including Mathematics and English). Around 350,000 teenagers struggle with Mathematics and English (Claxton, 2008). During a CPD session, I have learned that in Britain 1 in 20 adults have a reading age of five years old and about 28% of adults have a literacy level of 1 or below (grades D-G).
Bumping road five… When schools refuse to stretch the pounds. Carpel, Leask and Younie, 2019 states that there are two types of motivation. Motivation can be intrinsic; this occurs when students engage with an activity for their own sense of pleasure. Motivation can also be extrinsic; this occurs when students are engaging with an activity to obtain for example a prize. It worries me, that some schools have no homework policy. I had recently issued a piece of homework during a sequence of learning. About 20% of class completed the homework and were given positive points for their efforts. There is absolutely no consequence for the students that never bothered to complete the homework. It is a culture shock for me to see that student’s books are left at the back of classrooms, students being reluctant to complete homework and participate with independent learning. What are we teaching our kids for University level of study? I teach my year 11 class, three times over two weeks. It is not enough time to master a concept fully. The practice is required outside of school to allow for a mastery. Once a task is repeated numerous times, your brain stores the information and tasks become automatic (Willingham, 2009). Are summative exams good or bad? Looking at the positive end, good grades on a test can increase a pupil’s level of motivation. This success builds confidence and sparks a student to achieve more (Carpel, Leask and Younie, 2019).Assessments can affect a student’s level of performance and self-esteem. There are three main issues surrounding assessments. Firstly, assessments are inconsistence, are not shared or evaluated among teaching staff. How can we tell if pupils are being tested on what they need to know? Secondly, the majority of the times grades are given only rather than written advice that will allow a student to address misconceptions. Grades only feedback is unfocused and lacks the ability to amend gaps in knowledge. Research has shown that issuing grades only after a test can defeat the purpose of the feedback process. Thirdly, predictions are made on a teacher’s own set of grades; the previous years are not taken into consideration. Some teachers are incompetent and are unaware of the teaching needs of pupils (Black and William 2006). Weekly homework forms a part of our Masterminds courses to allow for practice, mastering and time for students to respond to feedback. Both grades and written improvements are given and students are required to act on these. Good grades, attitude and punctuality can increase a student’s chance of obtaining a £25 student of the month gift card! Should we have standardised exams or summative assessments? I truly believe that testing a student based on grades only is not the most effective strategy. We need to allow the students to release their creativity to form their inner self. What exactly is the purpose of education? We are moulding young people to become well-rounded individuals. Young people must be tested on transferable skills for example teamwork, communication or public speaking. I think that a student’s final grade should be a mixture of both coursework and exams. Coursework assignments are a useful tool for assessing a student’s ability as anxiety is reduced. In addition, the new generation is focused on technological improvements for example smartphones and tablets. These create “noise” and takes away from the “thought process”. The curriculum should shift from an exam perspective to life skills or Mindfulness. “Mindfulness” is important for the brain’s relaxation; technologies create noise and “loss of thought” resulting in a “loss of creativity” (Stephen and Warwick 2015).
Becoming less Bumpy 6…………….. Learn with Masterminds is an online tutoring business providing services to GCSE students. The business main goal is to support students outside the classroom due to the demands within a classroom. We did not open this business to exploit parents. We opened a business because we care!
