#remember how sam said the same thing in s4

Note
was going to posit dean n mary Wifes n john as a nosferatu but then i started remembering how often they had monsters possess or take the form of deans family members to then intimidate or assault him in a strangely sexualized manner what is up with that show. like in that s4 ep where they go back to the 70s and azazel jumps into Mr Samuel Campbell and proceeds to basically lick deans ear and kiss young mary. hm
oh youre a sick fuck. John as a dracula is interesting on so many levels chiefly bc he'd hate that but also because its fun to fly too close to the sun/genre re the show called supernatural being about the supernatural wherein John actually isn't a supernatural. subverting the thing as greta gerwig once inexplicably said. I will say that I think the Winchester-campbells / azazel relationship is dracula/harker because nobody actually WANTS to be around azazel. I think ruby has the potential to be a feratu w/sam as bride but we do have to separate it from sam's literal blood drinking during that same arc. what this is all actually proving to me is what we've always known which is that despite 1-5 aesthetics spn has never been legit American gothic in any like real substantive way. but man the more I think about John and the girls (Mary and sam and dean obv) the more i'm like. you might really really really be onto something here

Stranger Things- Fringe parallels (spoiler on Fringe)
(Still working on this theory, so I edited some parts)
IF this theory is correct, it could be a spoiler on some of the biggest plot twists in S5.
Let's begin.
I'm analyzing every screenshot of the Nina Project scenes, reading theories on different timelines, loop theories. Then I remembered the name Peter.
Henry is Peter Ballard-the orderly. Sam Owens' son, Peter. So, Henry is Peter? And given the huge parallels with Will, Will is Peter too? The key of everything?
The parallels between Stranger Things and Fringe are becoming more and more clear. And it makes me even more curious to know: Why Will? We've seen the Henry-El parallels. Papa. Telekinesis. Telepathy. Now gates. So, if Will is also like Henry and Henry can manipulate time...
My theory is that the story could be a mix of Fringe, Back to the future, The Talisman and The Dark Tower.
Here I'm going to focus on Fringe
Tumblr media
Like I said, there are many parallels. Eleven and Olivia Dunham, especially in S4. All the mentions of Peter. The glitching in the Rainbow Room.
Maybe, when Brenner started to use Henry, he learned that he didn't just have telekinesis, he could manipulate time, even see possible futures or threats. Then the massacre... the UD... the gates and the apocalypse. Thank you, Brenner.
How old Peter was when he died in the Prime World?
Seven.
Tumblr media
When he died, his dad went to Alt Earth and kidnapped the alterante version of his son. And the crossover between worlds caused devastating consequences in Alt Earth. Henry ending up in the UD is causing the end of the world.
El is like Olivia
There have been El-Olivia parallels throughout the whole show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But in S4 everything became more obvious, because of all that glitching in El's memories that we've never seen before. And because S4 introduced Henry/Peter, who could very well represent the Peter Bishop of Stranger Things. But with powers. His not just his existence the problem, but what he's doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
About the glithing. That's a very important moment.
Imo, El was remembering her past, but with the glitching WE, the audience, were seeing for the first time different timelines simultaneously*. There are different Henries, the kids' position and even age change. In one shot their bones are broken, in another shot they are not. Many timelines. But it doesn't matter how many differences there are. The ending never changes. The story always ends in tragedy.
The beginning of the flashback/memory, El seeing the same moment in the Rainbow Room over and over, it's the biggest clue about the plot twist of the story: it's a loop, and not actual parallel worlds you can visit (so really BTTF + Fringe + The Dark Tower)
So, the parallels with Fringe are there, but of course it's not the same story.
*I said it's the first time that we see different timelines simultaneosly, thanks to the glitching. But we've actually been seeing them, at least two of them, from episode one, from the scene of Will's kidnapping. In fact, there's the shot where he has the shotgun, and the other where shotgun is still in the shed. Then, there are articles where Brenner's name is Richard, others where the name is Martin. It's always been there, but we needed S4 to start putting the pieces together. So far it's been subtle.
Peter in Fringe and Stranger Things
Fringe. The main character, Peter, shouldn't exist in the Prime World because Prime World Peter died when he was a child. But his father Walter went to the Alt World and kidnapped Alt Peter, and since then, the gate Walter opened has caused devastating consequences for that world that risks to collapse.
ST. Henry and Will were both kidnapped. And they both ended up in a different world. Also, it seems that their very existence can change everything. Henry can destroy the world. Will can save it.
Fringe. The advanced substance Alt World uses to quarantine the regions devastated by anomalies. Amber.
Tumblr media
ST. In S3 we see the green goo, which is connected to the Russians and the gate.
Tumblr media
Green goo could also be a reference to the game Fortnite.
The story: A mysterious island that holds the Origin of the universe itself is being abused by a mysterious organisation. A mysterious figure emerges from an escape pod housed in the remnants of a meteor in the crater of the island. From there on, everything slowly unfolds into chaos.
Interesting.
Fringe. The only solution they found in Fringe to save the Alt Universe? They erased Peter so everybody forgot about him. But slowly, people who loved him started to remember him.
ST. Maybe this is how Henry's story ends. Henry could be the Peter of ST that must die to save the world. Or it's Will who's being erased, or realises Henry needs him, so he thinks he has to sacrifice himself and disappear to save the world. They already hinted at something like that. In S2 Joyce asked Owens what would happen when he doesn't remember anything. When her boy is gone. Plus, the video posted on the ST account on IG in 2017, where Will disappears from the S1 photo, just like Marty Mcfly.
There are many options.
Look, more references to Peter. This time, there are also a key and number twelve.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And twelve is associated to Will
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other clues about different timelines.
In the first article in S1, that's actually Terry and El story, not really Joyce and Will. He was an unwitting victim, not a subject of the government program. Ok, maybe they forced the journalist to rewrite the article. But could still be a hint. In S1, Brenner is named Richard in the articles Hop reads. And in S4, in the articles about the massacre at the Creel House, Henry becomes Edward, Alice is the mother and Virginia the daughter... Little differences. But same story.
Tumblr media
Also, what Joyce tells Brenner. That he took her boy away from him. Yes, kinda. But not really. It's very ambiguous. But maybe, in another timeline. Another time the story repeated itself, but differently...
Mr Clarke talks about the multiverse in S1. Infinite versions of our world. Only a bit different. But maybe the twist is Time. The story that keeps repeating itself because in the end the kids lose but Henry doesn't completely win.
Tumblr media
Another interesting thing is the poster of the movie Sixteen candles we see at Family Video. The story is about people forgetting about the birthday of the protagonist.
And look at the main character. So we see the poster in S3 but not in S4. But in S4 we got her to remind us of that movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm going crazy.
Birthdaygate is even crazier that we thought, imo. Maybe something risks to erase Will. Or maybe in another timeline his birthday is in May. And we saw that timeline. But this time, even the GA noticed the date on the tape and said the writers forgot Will's birthday.
I also need to talk about the UD, of course. The Talisman (spoiler: there are parallel world there too, with copies of the original characters) the possible meaning of the rose as a reference to The Dark Tower. There's so much to talk about!
MORE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ST AND FRINGE
EDIT: Thank you adipishingsystem. I didn't remember that in Fringe, ep 1x17, Walter is watching a video recording of the testing done with Cortexiphan (in 1982). Young Olivia is in a room which she's burned completely with her mind...
William Bell (the other doctor, played by Leonard Nemoy), "Is the incident contained?"
Assistant, "Yes, Dr. Bell."
Bell, "How bad?"
Assistant, "Bad."
Bell, "Casualties?"
Assistant, "Not sure yet. We can't locate Brenner."
I mean!
And in S2 of ST,  Joyce is discussing getting professional help for Will with Hopper. She says: "Well, there's that guy in Boston that's supposed to be..." But Hopper cuts her off before she can finish. Was she talking about... Walter? Or Bell? Omg? They really did it.
Lol, and there is MORE! I keep finding things... Working on another analysis!

I am confused?
Tumblr media
here's why lmao
do indeed remember this season
the baby's name is Amara?? or is the guy just that out of it?
omg Sam is infected!!!! big shocker!!!! (menace knew this)
and the baby has the Mark of Cain???
hi, Billie!!!!
first mention of the Empty... I have a feeling this comes back around in s15
the holy oil worked???
Dean wrapping Cas in the blanket :(((
is this episode just from Baby's perspective? I love episodes with weird perspectives!!
"say it with me - a ✨️werepire✨️"
Finn Wolfhard?!
why do they keep flashing back to Sam's time in Hell??
I forgot Amara was God's sister
I also completely forgot about Sully wtf
Sam, please do not say yes. please
where did she send Dean?? oh, just to safety nvm
you had to have known this was a terrible idea, Sam
you're ready to watch the people you love die? really?
of course they're all in there now
so, if Lucifer is possessing Cas, then where is Cas? or are there just two angels in him?
Eileen!! I know the actress and I've seen people post about her, but I don't remember her?
did Mildred just insinuate that Dean has a crush on Cas?? cause I feel like she did... nvm I forgot about Amara smh
dude, the boys don't even sound the same in earlier seasons :o I hadn't noticed until now
Lucifer is not caged, actually
you have Crowley in a dog cage?? and are treating like a literal dog??
also if Cas isn't Lucifer's perfect vessel, why isn't it showing? like it showed for Nick?
Dean being absolutely devastated that Cas said yes to Lucifer vs Sam just rolling with that punch
they are such children 🤭
Bobby and Rufus were definitely a thing btw
I've said if before and I'll say it again, I miss Bobby
and Sam's been shot, how fun
but he's not actually dead?
a married hunter couple!!!
omg is this the episode we find out Chuck is God??? *
* it is!!! I always thought this happened in an earlier season
and Chuck has the samulet?? I could have sworn Sam had it?
KNEW HE HAD IT (did Chuck throw that in his pocket? maybe. but I will die on this hill. Sam kept it)
KEVIN??? oh nvm he's gone now
Amara is so,,,,,,, unsettling
omg family therapy with God and Lucifer!
of course Sam's gonna take the Mark without talking to Dean 🙄
is this actually gonna work?
did she just kill Lucifer and God??
guess not, okie
Cas is back!!!
all the goodbyes are normal and then he gets to Cas and is almost in tears???
so, it's fine? everything's normal now?
????? Sam just got shot at again???
gonna be honest, I thought Toni was Mary
another season down, hooray!!! this one was so??? I want to say anticlimactic, which was nice considering the other season finales! it's just odd? also wtf happened with Sam? did he get shot? cause it didn't sound it, so what happened? is there just a forcefield around the man? I guess we shall find out
s1, s2, s3, s4, s5, s6, s7, s8, s9, s10, s11, s12, s13, s14, s15

On the topic of that epic post about sam and dean’s codependency, I think it might be interesting to address Carver’s era as a direct mirror to Kripke’s. Because Kripke’s era is this tragic narrative about how, while Sam and Dean’s codependency fucked them both up, it also saved the world in the end. But in the Carver era, that same messed up relationship ends up almost dooming the world. And the way they go about showing it is really interesting, because the plot points of the Carver era, specifically seasons 9-11, also mirror the plot points of the Kripke era in reverse. By walking backwards through the story of the first five seasons, and turning each of the major story beats on its head, Carver’s era breaks down Sam and Dean’s codependency so that it can turn into something new.
early s9: Sam gets possessed by an angel—the last time, with Lucifer, it was Sam’s choice, and the story leading up to it was about Dean stepping back and letting Sam make his own choices. This time, though, the possession comes specifically from Dean circumventing Sam’s choice in order to keep him close.
9.10: in a mirror of 5.02, they separate, but this time, it’s Dean walking away.
Dean subsequently makes a choice that infects him with a demonic corruption, believing that he can use that mark to accomplish a good end: killing Abaddon. Compare this to Sam’s s4 story arc of working with a corruption that has been forced on him without his choice in the matter, and using that corruption to work towards the good end of killing Lilith, even if that end results in his own destruction.
end of s9/early s10: Dean becomes a demon, and in a mirror of Dean’s time in hell the first time around, Sam crosses lines he previously would not have crossed in order to get him back (compare his crossroads scene in 4.09 with the flashback in 10.03--the similarities are striking).
There’s a lot in 10.03—Demon Dean attempting to kill Sam (a mirror of 3.16, when he died for him), saying of John, “There’s a man who brainwashed us into wasting our lives fighting his losing battle!”, compared with his last words in 3.16 being “Remember what Dad taught you,” Cas telling Sam that he has to be prepared to kill his brother if he can’t save him.
from there it’s not exactly analogous, and unlike in s2-3 they do have a lot of outside help. Sam’s speech in 10.18 about how he doesn’t want to do this without Dean reminds me a lot of both of Dean’s speeches in Croatoan.
S11, particularly the ending arc, does start to address things: Sam makes more friends that are his friends (like Eileen), Dean has priorities outside of Sam (Cas). Dean’s suicidal ideation is deconstructed in his connection with Amara, Sam attempts to return to “saving people” instead of killing vessels—there’s a lot going on in s11, and some of it is done well and some is not.
I have to mention Sam’s death and Dean’s suicide attempt and subsequent pact with Billie in 11.17 as a mirror to Sam’s death and Dean’s demon deal in AHBL. The most interesting thing is that, while last time Dean’s self-destruction saved Sam’s life, this time, it was totally pointless; Sam had already survived, and all Dean succeeded in doing was hurting himself.
Also, obviously, there’s Chuck’s backstory with Amara—how, at the beginning, they were the only two beings in existence—they were completely isolated, and it was something Amara viewed as perfect, but Chuck wanted to get away from. How he ultimately locked her away in order to escape, and how he was arguably trying to recreate those circumstances in isolating Sam and Dean and trying to manipulate one into killing the other. All of this comes back to the original siblings who, as Gabriel said back in 5.08, “loved each other and betrayed each other.”
S11 ends on a note of hope and growth and life, with Amara acknowledging that creation outside of her and her brother has meaning and value. And then, of course, we end s11 holding a mirror to the very beginning of s1—with Mary’s return.

Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favourite opening line.
Tagged by @fezwearingjellybananas, thank you 🥰
For the purposes of this, I’m not including unposted WIPs. Posted WIPs, however, are included!
i care more to be loved (that is not the same as loving):
“But you kissed him! Not even just kissed—you made out with him!” (The Flash)
there is nothing i do (worse) than revenge:
They’re 14, and it’s June 12th, 2016, and their parents agree to let them have a collective sleepover at Sam’s place, the day after their middle school graduation. (Cobra Kai, spoilers up to 3x5)
in that very moment when i love him (i destroy him):
Fighting Otto Octavius, Peter thought, was definitely at the top of his list of things he never expected to be doing. (Spider-Man PS4)
won’t wait for time (we’re living for tonight):
The births of Bumi and Princess Izumi were the subjects of much controversy, for ultimately the same reason. (ATLA/LOK)
hold on to me (i’m a little unsteady):
The United Forces’ latest mission was reconnaissance, scouting out a potential threat from Ozai’s lingering supporters. (LOK)
you should know i’ll be there for you (when the world’s not perfect):
Something that should be said about dying for five years, Michelle reflected, is that no one tells you how awful the aftermath is. (MCU Spider-Man, with a dash of X-Men for flavor)
there’s your coffee cup (the lipstick stain fades with time):
Peter knew the cost of the spell. (MCU Spider-Man)
If you want to read this fic, MCD warning for heavy grief over a canon character death
just company now (comfort crowd):
Michelle collapsed on Gayle and Emma’s couch and groaned loudly. (MCU Spider-Man, with a character from X-Men and another from the Spidey comics)
freeze frame this moment (and make time stand still):
The night before Michelle gets blipped ends with a fight. (MCU Spider-Man)
this love is treacherous (this path is reckless):
“Why did you do it?” (MCU Spider-Man)
you’re untouchable (burning brighter than the sun):
Michelle Jones-Watson, ever since her kidhood, loves fiercely and deploy and way more than everyone else seems to think. (MCU Spider-Man)
at least i did (one thing right):
Peter had never expected telling May to be easy. (MCU Spider-Man)
i (don’t) remember it all too well:
Peter was still holding the box. (MCU Spider-Man)
right there where we stood (was holy ground):
May laughed. “No way.” (MCU Spider-Man)
tell you the truth (but never goodbye):
Peter glanced over at MJ as the sun crested over the horizon. (MCU Spider-Man)
the road not taken (looks real good now):
“Cisco’s girlfriend is a what?!” (The Flash)
how dare you march (into my heart):
“D—Mr. Sweet!” (House of Anubis)
i promise (i’ll do better):
“Are you okay?” Anthony asked slowly. (Cobra Kai, spoilers for S4)
i love you (so please let me go):
Ned has never lacked love in his life: his family bursts with it. (MCU Spider-Man)
just don’t go (just meet me in the afterglow):
Keeley’s known for a long time that she and Jamie are on different wavelengths. (Ted Lasso)
Hmm...as far as patterns go, I think I usually either start with dialogue, introspection, or scene-setting. A couple of them jump right in with a strong hook, which I like: “Peter knew the cost of the spell,” “Peter was still holding the box,” and “The night before Michelle gets Blipped ends with a fight.”
Out of all of these 20 lines, the last one I just mentioned in the parsgraph above is my favorite 🥰 I love Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson!!
Tagging (with no pressure ofc): @seek--rest @promiseofthepremise @ambivalentmarvel @thinkingisadangerouspastime @blackaquokat!

Season 4, Episode 7: An Extremely Chaotic and Incoherent Review
This episode was very meh overall, but luckily it at least didn’t cause me immense pain like Episode 8 is about to ;______;
The Good:
ARE WE FINALLY GETTING THE TEA ON WHAT HAPPENED AT APPLEBEE'S
WHAT WENT DOWN WITH THE LOADED POTATO SOUP, I NEED TO KNOW
Not Miguel pulling out Johnny's headband like it's a piece of lingerie
This reveal is just as hysterical as I've always dreamed
GO KENNY GO
Awwww good boi Robby actually trying to be a good influence on this kid and guide him in the right direction
Wholesome!!!
"A Chili's or a Marie Calendar's or a Red Lobster" truly Johnny Lawrence is a man of culture
Carmen is a morosexual
Aight I take back what I said a few episodes ago, Jarmen is still pretty cute actually
"I would've chosen someone with better food in their refrigerator" OH MY GOD YES DRAG HIM MIGUEL
LIVING FOR THIS
Not really all that invested in the Anthony subplot but Daniel comparing karate to video games was a nice moment! That IS one thing I really like about Daniel--he tries to connect with people and share his passions with them by relating it to something he knows THEY like
I remember he did that with Demetri and Game of Thrones in S2 and it was the purest thing ;_;
Y'know, I don't know what all I expected from S4, but shipping Piper and Tory was definitely not on the list
And YET
Look now that I'm openly stanning YasMoon I am actually very down for this
Imagine them on double dates
Literally the two most terrifying lesbian power couples imaginable--the Rich Socialites and the Badass Karate Sapphics
But like...Tory x Robby is hella cute though, do you see my struggle here
Well anyways this is proving to me without a doubt that Torobby is bi4bi
Also like...I'm still pretty firmly on the Shawbby train, SO
If Shawbby were to happen...Toriper??? Please??? As a treat???
Yeah not like either will happen but I can dream
Eagle Fang training montage was as delightfully amusing as I'd hoped! Those poor boys though
"They're wearing cups, right?" OH MY GOD
DAMN Kenny, that was BRUTAL
He really is Hawk 2.0, the little shit
Curious just how evil this boy's gonna get during his villain arc
It makes me sad but I am also morbidly intrigued
Anthony just paying some guy to wash the cars, I am HOWLING
Why is Daniel even surprised, this is the most in-character thing I've ever SEEN
The man got played for a fool and honestly??? Hysterical. I cannot stop laughing. Daniel LaRusso is definitely not in possession of the valley's brain cell at the moment
JOHNNY I CAN'T
He's trying to be a Cool Sensei and a good dad at the same time, this poor meow meow
He really is so deeply clueless about parenting, I love it
Love that Miguel was having so much fun chilling with his girlfriend that he lost track of time, indicating they're a very loving and healthy couple actually!!! Like find yourself someone who hours feel like minutes with, fr
Anthony ain't my fave by any means but I kinda get him being sick of Daniel going on and on about Mr. Miyagi nonstop XD
The irony of Daniel thinking Kenny is bullying Anthony is also admittedly pretty funny
"Kenny?" "Oh, he's hilarious! You guys are gonna get along great!" okay okay okay okay not super into this plotline in general BUT this amused me
Actually kind of ingenious how the library beatdown parallels the library bullying scene from Season 1, but with the complete opposite results. Like the ultimate inversion from bullies picking on nerds and the nerds just taking it to a nerdy kid taking complete control of the situation and handing his bullies' asses to them. Pretty dang cool cinematic parallel/inversion!
SAMMMMMM
Damn, the lifelong "good girl" really cut class to do Chaos Training with her boyfriend and her second secret karate dad and for that I couldn't be more proud
Chaos gremlin Sam who makes her own rules is the love of my life actually
Absolutely digging this character growth
Literally so satisfying when Daniel and Amanda finally found out Anthony's been a lying little asshole, about damn time!
Neat! Check out this evil karate husband divorcee drama!
I didn't see them having a falling out, but it's juicy so I don't mind it
The Bad:
Aight, someone's gotta say it: This fucker Anthony is getting too much dang screentime
Like we could probably get the idea of his plot with like...half the screentime tbh
So, uh. Breaking up the only LGBT couple in the entire show and then having the closest we have to a canon lesbian character join the villain dojo sure was a writing choice
I don’t like the implications of that I don’t like the implications of that at all
While yes, it is extremely funny that Moon has a thing for violent bully types, I’m not particularly besotted with the fact that the lesbian ex turns evil and the (supposedly) straight guy ex gets a redemption arc
This coming from a slightly unhinged evil lesbian who usually LOVES slightly unhinged evil lesbians
But when that’s your ONLY lesbian in the show, we may have a problem???
I say Piper is the closest thing we have to a canon lesbian character because I’m pretty sure she’s the only female character in the show who has never shown romantic interest in men
Like she’s only ever flirted with and dated women and when Hawk tried to come onto her she was like “fuck no”
Anyways they made her join the evil bad dojo, despite Moon no doubt telling her during S3 that it was filled with bullies and fiends, so that’s fun
Like yes lesbians CAN be scary assholes but we’re not ONLY scary assholes
SO we get to see Eagle Fang and Cobra Kai training, but NOT Miyagi Do??? Unfair!!!
And Sam had to babysit??? That sounds funny as shit!!! Show me what went down please!!!
Also, you're gonna have Eli do this big grand gesture of joining Miyagi Do for Demetri and then NOT show Dem and Eli training together???? Absolutely unacceptable, I want to speak to the manager
You deadass telling me Devon, who we met like...an episode ago, gets a Cool Training Montage, and Demetri and Eli DON'T??? Fuck all the way OFF, we've been watching these dudes grow into badasses for 4 goddamn seasons now and BY GOD I WANT TO SEE THEM KICKING ASS TOGETHER AGAIN
Also it's highkey a big deal that Eli joined Miyagi Do, so it seems like it would be cool to see him like??? Actually learning and practicing some of the moves???
Like Eli absolutely deserves a MD training montage all of his own because it's, like, a complete contrast to how he learned in CK and EF. I want to see whether he takes to them easily or if he struggles to pick them up since they're a pretty different style than Johnny teaches.
Like how well does Eli adjust??? Does Demetri help??? What's his dynamic with the other MD kids like??? Does he get discouraged because they're more experienced MD fighters, and then they have to help gradually rebuild his confidence? I want to know!!! Give me details on MD Eli please!!!
On the topic of training montages, I would have loved to see a bit with Johnny, Miguel, and Sam all training for doing the flying tornado kick together!!! They're like the perfect chaotic, aggressive trio and them just doing the most hectic and insane training drills would be so damn fun, I swear
Also I want to see more of Sam and Miguel being an adorable couple in general!!! Like they've been through so much, they deserve some fluff!!!
Would also be interesting to see them bond over their respective traumas, and try to help one another through it. It would also be pure and wholesome as shit and I would enjoy every minute of it
But nooooooo, gotta cut it to make room for the middle school subplot -_-
I...really can't bring myself to care that much about the middle school love triangle tbh. Like I'll admit they could have done it worse, and Lia has a decent amount of chemistry with both the boys, so it's not totally grating to watch. But Bully-Hot Girl-Nerd love triangles are hardly something we haven't seen before. This particular love triangle isn't really adding anything new to the show???
Like I get what they were going for--they wanted to parallel young Johnny and Daniel, but kinda reverse it by having Daniel's son be the one who's the "spoiled rich popular boy" or what have you. But...was it really necessary??? I mean, we already kinda did that with Miguel and Robby in S1 and 2, I would argue. And even a little bit with Demetri and Eli in S2 and 3, although with no love triangle.
Anyways, point being that I think we're dedicating just a tad too much screentime to a gag that it seems like they're only doing as like...a funny, ironic callback
Anyways in summary this episode needed vastly more Miyagi Do training shenanigans
Specifically more Eli and Demetri training shenanigans
Specifically more Eli and Demetri homoerotic sparring sessions
COME ONNNNN WE ARE 7 EPISODES IN AND I HAVE NOT ONCE SEEN THESE FUCKS SPAR
I mean on that topic I would've loved to see Miguel and Demetri spar too, but too late for that I guess
Like!!! I want to see how they handle sparring/fighting when they're on the same side!!! I want to see if they hold back from hurting each other because of their rough recent history!!!
And imagine the ANGST POTENTIAL if one hits the other a little too hard, especially Eli, like??? Eli going from breaking Demetri's arm to profusely apologizing for hitting Demetri's arm a tiny bit too hard would be BEAUTIFUL
Tbh any MD pair sparring would be more interesting than Anthony running around and causing mayhem in his middle school -__-
Also this would be a GREAT spot to put in a formal Eli-Sam apology scene, just to kinda cement Eli's determination to grow into a better person in MD and such
But do we get it? Noooooooo -__-
Anyways, more MD hijinks!!! More Samiguel!!! I demand it!!!
Get ready to see me suffer next episode :D

Katy my darling <3
how are you in this funky Sunday?
hope everything is going well!!
I have a very fun ask for you, because I remembered an old ask game and I thought it'll be fun to bring it back.
I'll give you a bunch of random words and some characters.
dancing + kurt
camping + sam
traveling + jesse
food + adam
mornings + rachel
autumn + tina
if you may, chose a ship for each character and write some headcanons!!
take your time!! and here's a hug 🧡
Tumblr media
Hey Myle!
🥰
this is a fun ask! also i love that gif so much, but i find it so funny how the people in the background are dressed in summer clothes and here's kurt and rachel just... dressed for autumn...
dancing + kurt
Kurt does enjoy dancing, i mean we know that because of Single Ladies, but its not his most favourite thing to do (see First Time and Blame It On The Alcohol) he mostly likes to watch others dance if he's in a club or at a party, he's actually kind of a wallflower - unless of course he's trying to keep Sebastian's hands off of Blaine. That being said, I can see Kurt enjoying, maybe, ballroom dancing, or going swing dancing. Something more old-fashioned like he'd see in his favourite old black and white movies. Chummel popped into my head first, for obvious reasons, but I'm imagineing a senario where Kurt is some famous Broadway star, or some household name in fashion, or whatever, and he's invited onto Dancing With The Stars. now, we know they're willing to do same sex pairs (thank you JoJo Siwa! (and also Nicola Adams who did it first on Strictly (british DWTS) last year and John Whaite as the first male/male pair on Strictly this year, apparently!)) So Kurt requests this, and he gets paired up with Mike - they'd lost touch a few years back and Kurt isn't actual a DWTS fan so he didn't know Mike was a dancer on it (or maybe he's new and Kurt is a fan idk) and they have loads of fun dancing and catching up and they win the competition and get together.
camping + sam
Sam is definately a camper! and whoever he's with will have to just deal with that. But they love him so they put up with it. I'm imagining Samcedes, after getting back together around their 30s would go camping a lot when Mercedes isn't on tour. Either they'd go somewhere in Ohio near Lima or they'd go up to the mountains in LA/California and camp there, maybe even somewhere around the appalachians in New York. Mercedes demands it's more like Glamping though, maybe in some cool Air BnB in nature without other people where there's running water but it still feels like camping enough to Sam. This could also really work with Hevans, but I can imagine Kurt actually starting to kinda like camping. I mean, Burt totally took him a few times when he was a kid, but he didn't like the bugs and the dirt. But with Sam it's easier, because Kurt's in love. So he puts up with it, and begins to really get into, like, making campfires and roasting marshmellows. Maybe they go for the first time with Burt and Carole and Finn the summer before S4. and then, when Kurt and Sam are together (idk how in this senario) they go to the same campground in Ohio, or places around the appalachians. Blam, however? Blaine would totally be up for camping with Sam. idk why because he doesn't look like the type exactly but I can see Blaine, in all his button up shirts and bow tied glory, being at one with nature sitting outside a tent roasting marshmellows and making smores with their adorable little toddler next to him and Sam looking at the scene with heart eyes. (I couldn't choose just one ship for some reason... my multishipping heart is too big)
traveling + jesse
I'mma do St. Cooper because it's fun to ship them. So Jesse, after years of theatre, realises that maybe he's not the hot commodity he was in High School and he sells out and starts doing commercials and TV just to get his name out there. he hates it just so we're clear. Because he's a theatre snob. Anyway, on a job he meets Cooper. it's for a TV show set all over Europe or something and they're playing small bit roles, glorified extras really, but still, they've got a lot of time to wait around and do nothing and they're being paid to do so and traveling all around europe, so as the two glorified extras in the show they hang out together a lot and just explore the cities or towns or small little villiages in the english countryside where they're filming. and eventually they fall in love. neither of them have any idea they both have connections to the New Directions until Cooper introduces Jesse to his family like a year later, namely Blaine and Kurt, and all hell breaks loose (mostly Kurt accusing Jesse of having some nefarious plan.)
food + adam
Adam is always on the look out for british shops or restuarants in New York, but hardly any of them are right. But somehow, when he and Kurt start going out, Kurt shows him this little high tea place in Brooklyn (which totally feels out of place in the hipster neighbourhood) that is perfect. it has his brand of tea!!! and trust me, even as a non-tea drinking brit this is a thing here. Sure, most people will be fine with any if you're at a person's house, but there is a lot of debate over which is better. Tetley? PG Tips? Yorkshire Tea? Adam himself is a PG Tips man for English Breakfast tea, mostly because of their little monkey mascot that he remembers fondly from his childhood and because it was the first cup of tea he ever had. And this place had it and they brewed it to perfection and now he and Kurt go there for most of their dates and Adam talks the owners (a nice old british couple from surprisingly close to his hometown in Essex) and convinces them to let him buy boxes of the tea for himself to make at home. (okay so this is less food and more drink ahaha)
mornings + rachel
Rachel is such a morning person it's obnoxious. The only person I can think of who would be right there with her, ship wise, is Jesse. Who is also an obnoxious morning person. They would both be up at like... 5am, and working out in the gym of their apartment building together looking out at the manhatten skyline (because they totally live in one of those fancy expensive appartments), and then running scales at their piano and doing scenes at their breakfast table as their cook makes breakfast (because they are both terrible cooks, though Rachel can at least bake well)
autumn + tina
Tina loves autumn, but not the snuggly sweaters, pumpkin spice latte autumn. Tina is all about spoopy season. From September until Early November her home is decked out with Halloween decorations. She likes the tasteful gothic look, slightly celestial. She has crystals and skulls and purples and oranges, and on the week leading up to halloween proper she adds spider webs and skeletons and vampires, tacky plastic monsters that sing The Monster Mash as you walk past them and pumpkin string lights. I can imagine Artie haveing fun decorating with her, with his director brain, and he and her would dress up their kids and they'd all make cute little home videos and 'horror' movies each year. and of course they'd all go trick or treating.

Osblaine week 2021, Day 2: Lyrics
Tumblr media
Over the last several weeks, I have carefully curated a playlist for Osblaine. The final total length of the playlist is 2 hours and 53 minutes.
The playlist can be found HERE
Click "Keep Reading" if you're interested in the introduction, commentary, more graphics and the full tracklist.
For full disclosure, I have to give some of the credit to my amazing fellow Osblaine fangirls @dystopiandramaqueen, @splitscreen and everyone who participated in a certain conversation for the original inspiration and even bringing up some of the songs.
You should look at the playlist in five parts: one section for each season that's aired and one section for the future (because I like to end things on a hopeful note).
The playlist contains a lot of the following:
Music from movie and TV soundtracks
Instrumental music
Remixes
Classics and covers of classics
Country music. I blame Florida. My sincerest apologies.
Some of the songs were chosen because they reminded me of a certain Osblaine scene, and some of them aren't specific to particular scenes but chosen for the general Osblaine vibe. And most of the movie/TV music I chose have been used for couples that remind me of Nick and June.
Part I- Season 1, first 12 songs of the playlist:
Tumblr media
Forbidden Love- Abel Korzeniowski, Jasper Randall, The Hollywood Studio Symphony (Romeo & Juliet)
Fireflies- Owl City
Echoes in Rain- Enya
My Ghost- Glass Pear (Bones)
Daring to Hope- Anne Dudley (Poldark)
Everytime We Touch- Cascada
1000 Times- Sara Bareilles
Too Good At Goodbyes- Sam Smith
In Case You Don't Live Forever- Ben Platt
To Find You- Cast of Sing Street, Brenock O’Connor
She- Elvis Costello (Notting Hill)
Miracle- Instrumental- Cö Shu Nie
Hanging By A Moment- Lifehouse
Commentary:
The first instrumental song IMO works as an intro for their entire love story.
The next two songs are more about having the right vibe. It's a little ambiguous and dark because that's how their life is in Gilead.
Leave my door open just a crack
Please take me away from here
'Cause I feel like such an insomniac
Please take me away from here
Why do I tire of counting sheep?
Please take me away from here
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep
***
Wait for the sun
Watching the sky
Black as a crow
Night passes by
Taking the stars
So far away
Everything flows
Here comes another new day
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
***
"My Ghost" is June's POV before they sleep together, wondering if she can trust Nick:
Who can you trust, in this place?
And whom can I put my faith?
If you're real, then show me now,
Who you are
The last two songs are for episode 1x10, for both Nick’s reaction to June’s pregnancy and the beginning of her first escape attempt (arranged by Nick).
She may be the face I can't forget The trace of pleasure or regret May be my treasure or the price I have to pay She may be the song that summer sings Maybe the chill that autumn brings Maybe a hundred different things Within the measure of a day
Part II- Season 2, next 10 songs:
Tumblr media
Love Will Keep Us Alive- Eagles
So Easy- Phillip Phillips
Incomplete- James Bay
Rewrite the Stars- The Piano Guys (The Greatest Showman)
I’ll Be Your Shelter- Taylor Dayne
Love Never Fails- Brandon Heath
P.S. I Love You- 05:11- John Powell (P.S. I Love You)
It's A Girl- Mychel Danna (The Time Traveler's Wife)
I'll Stand By You- Josh Groban, Helene Fischer
The Miracle of Love- Eurythmics
Commentary:
The first four songs cover June’s escape attempt and the time they share at the Boston Globe.
"Incomplete" is Nick's POV from when she's on the run and he knows she'll be gone from his life soon. He lives in the moment.
I don't wanna look down
I don't want us to break up in the clouds
All I want is to stay us, to stay with you now
"I'll Be Your Shelter" is for when June's mental health is at its lowest point and he goes to Serena to beg for her to get June help.
What you need is a friend to count on
What you got baby you got someone
Who will stay when the rain is fallin'
And won't let it fall on you
P.S. I Love You takes me back to episode 2.09, Nick’s selflessness in the episode and of course the scene where after telling June that Luke loves her, he tells her that he loves her too, despite believing she probably doesn’t feel the same way.
It's A Girl makes me think of the beautiful moment they share during June's false labor when he helps her out of the van and they climb the steps together.
I’ll Stand By You is for 2.10, Nick holding June after she was heartbroken over Hannah and over what the Waterfords did to her and clinging onto him.
Part III- Season 3, next 6 songs:
Tumblr media
Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close- Alexandre Desplat (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close)
All I Ask- Adele
Never Enough- Loren Allred (The Greatest Showman)
I Don’t Wanna Live Forever- Taylor Swift, ZAYN (Fifty Shades Darker)
Love is Gone- SLANDER, Dylan Matthew
Constellations- The Oh Hellos
Commentary:
For obvious reasons, it was extremely difficult to pick songs for this season.
The first (instrumental) song is for the beginning of the season with June coming back to the Waterford house and them then saying goodbye to each other on the street.
All I Ask, Never Enough, I Don't Wanna Live Forever and Love Is Gone are for their night together in June’s room at Lawrence’s (the one we didn’t get to see sigh). They know it's possible it's all they'll ever have, and they'll take it, but it'll never be enough.
I will leave my heart at the door I won't say a word They've all been said before, you know So why don't we just play pretend? Like we're not scared of what's coming next Or scared of having nothing left
Look, don't get me wrong I know there is no tomorrow All I ask is
If this is my last night with you Hold me like I'm more than just a friend Give me a memory I can use Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do It matters how this ends 'Cause what if I never love again?
***
All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough
***
I'm sorry, don't leave me, I want you here with me
I know that your love is gone
I can't breathe, I'm so weak, I know this isn't easy
Don't tell me that your love is gone
That your love is gone
"Constellations" is for their long separation and the doubts that I'm sure plagued them both during it. Would they ever see each other again?
Part IV- S4, next 12 songs:
Tumblr media
All of Me- John Legend
(Everything I do) I Do It For You- Bryan Adams
Iris- Natalie Taylor (City of Angels)
She Was Like A Bright Light- Hans Zimmer, Rupert Greyson-Williams (Winter’s Tale)
Noah's Last Letter- Aaron Zigman (The Notebook)
What’s In The Middle- the bird and the bee (Bones)
ivy- Taylor Swift
Footprints in the Sand- Leona Lewis
Remember Me (Lullaby)- Gael Garcia Bernal, Gabriella Flores (Coco)
On The Nature Of Daylight- Max Richter
My Heart Will Go On- Basil Jose (Titanic)
The Story- Sara Ramirez (Grey's Anatomy)
Commentary:
There were sooo many songs I wanted to include in part IV, but I controlled myself and ended up with this particular dozen.
"She Was Like A Bright Light" and "Noah’s Last Letter" are an instrumental double punch to the gut for Nick’s time in Gilead during episodes 4.07-4.09. The first one is meant for when he finds out June made it to Canada, and the 2nd for is for when he starts to gather info on Hannah to give to June.
"What’s in the Middle" and "ivy" are June’s POV of episodes 4.07-4.09.
"What's In The Middle" has more of an angry and confused vibe, and June was definitely both in episodes 7 and 8.
Losing your head is such a common theme
All your brains are falling out, falling out the open seams
Where is the heart, is the heart of the matter
I will empty out my skull of all this useless chatter
On the other hand, "ivy" has this haunted vibe, but there's also reverence and acceptance, which she begins to achieve in episode 9.
Oh, goddamn
My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand
Taking mine, but it's been promised to another
Oh, I can't
Stop you putting roots in my dreamland
My house of stone, your ivy grows
And now I'm covered in you
The next three songs are of course all for their reunion in 4.09, and I couldn’t resist including the song that was actually played in the scene.
"The Story" draws the season to a close nicely, with June understanding that her current needs are different from what they used to be and that there’s someone who understands her completely (and it’s not Luke).
You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what I've been through like you do
And I was made for you
Part V- Season 5 and Beyond, the last 6 songs
Tumblr media
Secret Love Song- Little Mix, Jason Derulo
Burn With You- Lea Michele
The Bones- Maren Morris
Feels Like Home- Auli'i Carvalho, Keegan DeWitt
Love Will Find A Way- Piano Covers (Lion King II)
Like I'll Never Love You Again- Carrie Underwood
“Secret Love Song” is a more angsty tune about a love that’s still kept a secret like June and Nick’s love (as far as most people are concerned). Now that they’ve already made out in front of the man who raped and abused June and made Nick watch him do that, I want to believe they can let go of the secrecy in S5, at least when it comes to a few people.
I'm living for that day Someday Can I hold you in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dancefloor? I wish that we could be like that Why can't we it be like that? Cause I'm yours, I'm yours Why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dancefloor? I wish that it could be like that Why can't it be like that? Cause I'm yours Why can't I say that I'm in love? I wanna shout it from the rooftops I wish that it could be like that Why can't we be like that? Cause I'm yours Why can't we be like that? Wish we could be like that
***
“Bones” is about a relationship with a strong foundation, which IMO they do have. It will carry them in the future, too. They’re more into each other now than ever before and especially June is coming to terms with how strong that love is. They’ll weather any storm.
When the bones are good, the rest don't matter
Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter
Let it break 'cause you and I remain the same
When there ain't a crack in the foundation
Baby, I know any storm we're facing
Will blow right over while we stay put
The house don't fall when the bones are good
***
“Feels Like Home” is more hopeful. Their home is with each other and I hope that’s something that will be explored more in the future.
Take me, I'm ready
Go slow but go steady
To a place that we can call our own
I wanna know what feels like home
***
“Like I’ll Never Love You Again” is a good conclusion for the playlist. It’s hopeful and a testament to an epic love.
I wanna love you like the rain on a roof
Stronger than a bottle of a hundred ten proof
I wanna take love to places that love has never been
Yeah, I wanna love you like I'll never love you again
And I'll love you again
Oh, and again

Some added thoughts for the anon reading the Kurtbastian fic: First things first, you have to remember that for the majority of Glee, Kurt & Blaine are /teenagers/. Teenagers don't always say or do things that are rational or logical. You can't expect them to react to, or handle, situations the same way an adult would. And trying to use adult logic, experience, and rationale is impractical.
In Season 3, before Kurt moved to NY, Blaine expressed some insecurities about what would happen to them over long distance. Kurt brushed these insecurities under the rug and said 'that won't happen'. So when Kurt left for NY in S4, and a lot of the things Blaine was worried about started happening, he assumed the worst. Both boys were at fault for the issues that lead to Blaine cheating. But as it was pointed out earlier - he immediately owned up to his mistake. It would have been so easy for him to pretend it never happened. Kurt's in a different state. None of the ND kids know Eli or what happened between them. Instead, Blaine rearranged his flight to go to NY earlier, tell Kurt about what he did, and apologize to him in person. Blaine never put the /full/ blame on Kurt, but some of the blame was his, so of course an emotional teenager is going to try to shift attention away from themselves. And afterward, Kurt shut down every opportunity Blaine tried to take to explain himself - thus ignoring his own accountability for the issues between him and Blaine.
In 3x08, Sam attacked Blaine first. And if you know anything about self-defense, you can see the way Blaine reacted was a defensive move, not offense. He wasn't trying to hurt or attack Sam. That's what the punching bag is for. As for Finn in that same ep, Blaine was working off his anger an aggression on his own, when Finn walked into the room, interrupting him. He lashed out /verbally/ not physically. And Finn had been mistreating him for weeks before then, so his anger was justified. Especially since he immediately calmed down after is initial outburst.
In 3x05, what can I say, drunk people make stupid mistakes - drunk teenagers make even stupider ones. In the car, Blaine stopped as soon as he understood that Kurt was saying no. (And Blaine ended the night dancing with Kurt after Kurt finally intervened, so it wasn't dancing with Sebastian that made Blaine want to 'blow off steam with Kurt'). Also, Blaine only saw what he was doing in the club as dancing and having fun. And Kurt was sitting on the sidelines watching. He could have put a stop to it whenever he wanted but didn't. Plus, Kurt and Blaine had been discussing sex before going to the club, so Kurt's decision wasn't based on Sebastian's interest in Blaine, or fear that Blaine might leave him for Sebastian.
(P.S. Sorry for the long ask)
No it's okay! I appreciate the back up lol. And doubling down on some of the stuff I said and mayhaps stating it better but shh i do my best
And yeah especially the Finn scene. Like the way Finn was treating Blaine like shit, plus anger issues and actual violent outbursts of his own, I'm not going to be upset over someone raising there voice at him for three seconds lol
Seconded on all the 3x05 points. Like Blaine wanted to go have fun at Scandals, Kurt wasn't dancing. But even while dancing around Sebastian, Blaine is still glancing back to make sure Kurt is watching him. And we don't know what happened after Kurt joined Blaine on the floor. If Sebastian backed off, when he left, how long Klaine danced on their own. By the time they reached the parking lot, I'm sure Kurt was the only thing on Blaine's mind, or riling him up lol

Another thing about 5x16 that I didn’t mention in the last post, is the romanticisation of Mary. S12 does a lot of work in tearing down the perfect sainted mother image, but the seeds of that are there in this episode. I mean the ideal of Mary hasn’t been torn down yet (though finding out she was a hunter who made a demon deal did put a dent in it) but one thing that is addressed is the myth that John and Mary were this perfect, perpetually happy couple.
SAM: Dad always said they had the perfect marriage.
DEAN: It wasn’t perfect until after she died
And neither was Mary. The things Dean thinks he knew about her, how much of that was his own unreliable memories and how much was John painting a sanitised picture of the woman that she was? I mean finding Mary’s killer became John’s crusade so it’s no wonder that he turned her into a saint, which she really wasn’t. Believing that was part of what messed up Dean’s perceptions of relationships and what he expected of the people he loved, lest we forget that one leviathan pretending to be Dean’s astute observation that he “doesn't have relationships. No, he has applications for sainthood.”
This was in s7, and was a big part of why the most recent tragedy he’s just gone through, Cas/Godstiel/Leviathans, has shaken him so much. Sure losing Cas hurt, but it’s also the guilt at not being able to see what was really going on with him and not being able to save him that’s eating away at him. And why couldn’t he see that? Because Cas occupied a certain role in his mind. Despite their fighting and feeling like he was being abandoned by Cas throughout s6, ultimately Cas was still the larger than life badass hero who turned his back on heaven and everything he believed in to fight by Dean’s side and help save the world, and when Cas was knocked off that pedestal Dean had him on, it shook his worldview so profoundly but was ultimately a good thing, because it laid the foundation for Dean being able to see Cas a person. A flawed real person who was just trying to do his best, and that was what led to them being able to develop a very different kind of relationship, one that was on much more equal footing than what they’d had before.
The same is true for Dean and Mary in s12. That’s why Amara brings Mary back to life. In Dean’s eyes Mary has been this sainted figure, this martyr and yet also someone whose death took away his innocence and forced him to give up on his own needs and happiness because he had to step into her role after she died. So there was always this weird dichotomy of “she’s perfect and good and I will never live up to that kind of perfection” as well as “I’m angry at her for leaving me to pick up all the pieces and having to give up my sense of self” which undoubtedly led to even more confusion for Dean, because how do you resent a saint? Honestly Bobo did such a good job writing that Dean and Mary confrontation in 12x22, it was an arc that had to pay off years of character development and managed to do it so well, so kudos to him on that.
Mary’s real and not perfect, and yet Dean loves her anyway. It means that unattainable goal of perfection Dean always hated himself for not being able to reach...well maybe he didn’t have to. Things weren’t black and white, people weren’t just saints or sinners.
Also the whole “Sam thinking Mary and John had the perfect marriage because of stories he’d heard” thing  brings up the of idea of preserving your kids innocence out of love. Sam has a lot of different stories and ideas about his childhood and history, some told by John and never corrected by Dean, because Dean wanted Sam to be a kid as long as he could and if he could protect Sam in any way, he would.
It’s something that comes up over and over again, and not just with Sam and Dean. How about in 10x20 when Dean sees how hurt and upset Claire still is with Cas? Dean defends him and tells her because of her father’s sacrifice “Cas was able to save the world. The world.” That’s not the whole truth, Cas definitely helped but Dean made it sound like he did it alone, because that’s how he wanted Claire to see Cas, and to understand him (also the original line was that Cas helped save the world, but Jensen being Jensen knew Dean would talk Cas up more than that.)
I was going to say Sam does it too with Jack, but that one is a little complicated. When he’s trying to bond with Jack by telling him about his own struggles with morality and demon blood, he talks about how his family, Dean and Cas, were there for him. I mean arguably that’s not true at all if you take s4 in to account, Cas was being brainwashed by heaven into actually encouraging Sam’s addiction and descent, but then he is there for Sam in s5. But Sam’s not about to tell Jack about how Cas was a flawed person with a complicated history. In fact at the start of s13, Cas is essentially in the s1 Mary role. He’s the perfect untouchable martyr, his death broke Dean (and also led to Dean whitewashing a lot of the reasons behind what actually caused Cas’ death) and left a profound hole in Jack’s life.
But luckily this wasn’t s1. Cas didn’t stay the idealised martyr, he was brought back.
Oh and Cas has done the “whitewash the truth for your son” thing multiple times the most significant is the one I remember a lot of people were angry about back when 14x02 aired, in which Cas tells Jack about when he was human  “I had Sam and Dean. But I had something else that was extremely helpful. I had myself. Just the basic me, as, uh...as Dean would say, without all the bells and whistles.”
Some people were annoyed that Cas said he had Sam and Dean, because Dean had kicked him out of the bunker and he was left to fend for himself. Thing is there were extenuating circumstances which Dean repeatedly apologised for and which Cas understood and forgave. Besides he did have them. Dean tried to protect him from the angels. He told him to go to the bunker. They saved him from the reaper. Dean saved him from the angel who tried to kill him. So sure, despite all that, Dean did leave him out on his own but again, Cas isn’t going to reveal all that messy hurtful history to Jack. He wants to protect him and for him to see the best in Dean. It’s what parents do.
Thing is, unlike John, Sam, Dean and Cas didn’t tell any of those somewhat edited truths in order to get Claire or Jack to join their revenge missions or enable their crusades, they did it because that’s what they knew was best for them in that moment and because it’s what they needed to hear.
Anyway, the point is that Dark Side of the Moon is such a crucial episode for Sam, Dean and Cas and I love how much of the characters’ core traits and struggles it manages to address in such a nuanced way (see also Sam and Dean’s relationship as well as Dean and Cas’ individual relationships with faith as well as their joint relationship with it.)

So who is Red, really? (pre-8.22 theories)
Since this is perhaps our last opportunity to discuss who Red really is, and because I've been rewatching clips from The Blacklist S1-4, I wanted to look back over a few things before we (or hopefully Liz at least) find out Red's true identity in 8.22.
I'm going to make a series of statements, and then list on a scale of 1-10 how likely I think each statement is (with 10 being the most likely). And then I'll give a brief explanation for each.
Red lost his family before he took on the 'Raymond Reddington' identity.
10 / 10 - Red has stated multiple times that there are truths that he needs Liz's help to uncover. The truth about what happened to his family, which was brought up several times in Season 1, seems to be foremost among them. We know that Red suffered a great tragedy, which sent him down a path of revenge. Maybe this was part of the reason why he took on the 'Raymond Reddington' identity. It could also be that, like Katarina, his wife was someone he was told to marry to maintain his cover, so he didn't really love her (as he doesn't seem to talk about her or remember her at all). But, he truly loved and adored his daughter (bubble girl), and both of them were killed before he became 'Raymond Reddington.'
Red knew/knows Katarina Rostova personally.
9 / 10 - While he's seemingly gone back and forth on whether he believes Katarina was really dead, which I will attribute to retcons by TPTB, he knows a lot of things about Katarina that most people wouldn't know. For instance, when Liz finds out she’s pregnant, Red recounts how Katarina dreaded having a child and almost aborted it. That's something no one would know unless Katarina told them. He likely knew her before the Night of the Fire, because he told Kate that he was not as unfamiliar as she expected when he recruits her in S4's "Requiem." Ultimately, based on 8.21, it seems that -- barring Redarina being true (ugh) -- that Katarina recruited Red to take on the 'Raymond Reddington' identity. So, that's likely when she gave him all the information he would need to keep Masha/Liz safe and successfully impersonate the real Reddington.
Red knew the real Reddington personally.
7 / 10 - This one still seems likely, in my mind, but it's not a guarantee. It's possible that whenever KR recruited Red to take over the 'Raymond Reddington' persona, she gave him all the information he would need to be successful. Then again, Red has been impersonating him for 30-ish years; he knew of and briefly interacted with Reddington's family in Carla/Naomi and Jennifer. So, it's a strong possibility, but not a certainty. Perhaps he was acquainted with Reddington, but wasn't close with him like he seemingly was/is with KR.
Red knew Sam Milhoan personally.
6 / 10 - After rewatching 1.08, I'm unsure whether Sam knew Red was an imposter. Maybe when he said that he needed to tell Liz the truth, he was referring to the truth that 'Raymond Reddington' was Liz's dad. And, Red, being an imposter, couldn't let Sam do that. But, then again, Sam definitely knew the real Reddington. And we know he and Red were in touch in S4's "Requiem," when Red asks Sam to help him recruit Mr. Kaplan. You'd think that if Sam knew Reddington well enough that Reddington AND KR both trusted him, that he'd be able to spot Red as an imposter. So, it seems likely that Sam knew Red is an imposter and not the real Reddington, Sam's late friend. But, did Red know Sam before he took on the 'Raymond Reddington' persona? It seems likely based on how they talked in 1.08, but again, not a guarantee. It definitely seems like he was at least in touch with Sam on a regular basis after Sam adopted Liz.
Red was an American agent who spied on the Russians.
3 / 10 - Red does tell a lot of personal stories that are set in the United States. But, as I've speculated recently, perhaps he's only using American place names / people names so as to impersonate the real Reddington, but then the details are based on his childhood elsewhere (presumably Russia).
And then we do have the very first line in the show where Mr. Gray says, "Must be good to be home again, sir." So, as I've said before, this line is very confusing because we know Red has been coming and going from the United States for decades. So, Mr. Gray isn't referring to the United States in general. Maybe he means DC specifically. Could be. Maybe Red hasn't been in DC much since he became a criminal, but that seems unlikely given how much crime and intelligence is based in this show's version of DC. So, maybe Mr. Gray meant the FBI building specifically??? Not sure, especially because I'm unsure whether Mr. Gray knew Red was an imposter.
Ultimately, though, maybe Red was an FBI agent who worked with Reddington and infiltrated the Russians. Maybe he has a Russian background. Maybe his mother and/or father was Russian, but immigrated to the United States. So, the FBI or Navy or whoever decided he would be useful because he knew the language, the culture, etc., and they could use his family connections to help him get in and out of Russia without much thought.
But, if Red was an American agent who was spying on the Russians, you'd think the U.S. intelligence network would know more about KR. Red was clearly very close with her, and if he was there the Night of the Fire, it meant she trusted him. So, either Red was a really bad American agent OR he was a double-agent, which doesn't fit with Red's tenet of loyalty.
Red was a Russian agent who spied on the Americans.
5 / 10 - I give this a slightly higher chance than the reverse, because Red seems to know a lot of Russians that even most Russians don't know. He knows/knew Katarina, Dom, Ilya, Katarina's handler (whose name escapes me), and Tatiana (aka Fake KR). After all, Red said that KR was a ghost and most in the intelligence community -- whether U.S. or Russian -- didn't know what she looked like, hence why Dom and Ilya tried to use Tatiana as a fake KR.
Of course, maybe he only met these people after KR sought him out. Who knows? But, then again, it seems a little more likely that he’s Russian-born rather than American-born. After all, he did have a lot of Russian things in his Bethesda apartment in S2, and that was his private hideaway that no one knew about, where he could presumably be himself and not 'Raymond Reddington.'
Red was a Cabal agent who spied on the Russians and the Americans.
7 / 10 - While I'm not sure whether Red grew up in the U.S. or the Soviet Union, I ultimately think he worked for the Cabal. It would explain how he knew KR and Ilya. It would also explain why he was presumably there the Night of the Fire (as he has the burn scars on his back) -- because KR trusted him to help her get the Fulcrum back. It also explains what happened to his family. Think about it: the Cabal knows that valuable information was compromised by KR and is now in the hands of Raymond Reddington, both of whom are either deceased or in hiding. So, they had to take revenge on someone. So, assuming Red was an associate of KR's and was unable to find the Fulcrum, perhaps they blamed him or at least wanted to make an example of him. So, his family is killed, and KR finds out someone she trusts has a reason to hate the Cabal as much as she does. So, she recruits Red to become 'Raymond Reddington' as a way to take revenge on the Cabal and protect Liz from suffering the same fate his family did.
Red is responsible for Katarina's death.
6.5 / 10 - Based on his "just a nice gesture" monologue, Red feels that he has taken something away from Liz. And thanks to "Cape May," we know he had to make a choice whether to save KR or Liz/Masha. We figured that was during the Night of the Fire, but KR didn't die in the fire or at Cape May. So, based on 8.21, everything is accounted for. Liz killed her own father, so Red didn't take him away from her; and KR was still alive when Liz was placed with Sam and eventually created 'Raymond Reddington.' Presumably, either during or after KR and Red created 'Raymond Reddington,' something happened, KR died, and Red felt responsible. But, then that conflicts with Red's S3 line about how he's unsure what happened to KR, even if he later tells Liz that her mother is dead. Plus, Dembe did say something about "what (Red) did to Katarina." So, while there have been retcons, I do think KR is dead and that Red (feels he) is somehow responsible for that.
TLDR: who do I think Red really is?
I think Red has a Russian background -- either he's from the Soviet Union or his parents were. I think he was supposed to be spying on the Americans for the Russians -- so he, his wife and daughter lived in the United States -- but he ultimately worked for the Cabal. He likely worked very closely with KR, was acquainted with the real Reddington and probably met Sam at some point pre-Night of the Fire. When KR's team didn't recover the Fulcrum, Red was blamed / made an example of because KR and Reddington had disappeared. So, his family is killed and KR uses his desire for revenge to recruit him to become 'Raymond Reddington.' She gives him all the information he might need and asks him to help her protect Liz, which he agrees to because he doesn't want another innocent to suffer like his family did. At some point, KR dies and Red feels responsible, so he doubles-down on looking after Liz because he feels that he took something away from her.

what are your thoughts on sam as a man of color?
OKAY so i do sort of go into this in my fic but im not gonna make u sift thru it for my opinions cuz i like to hear myself talk :) also disclaimer im gonna be exclusively talking abt the early seasons cuz i dont know or understand whats going on post s4. also also disclaimer all the posts im making abt this r about john as a white man and maryam as an arab woman . OK lets get into it
so one of the big differences btwn sam and dean is a question of assimilation. and dont get me wrong both of them do it in different ways but the first information we get about sam is that he’s trying VERY hard to assimilate not into the hunter cowboy culture that dean is but into the PROTECTED lifestyle of middle/upper class normalcy and ivy leagues and a pretty blonde wife and a respectable job in tax law or whatever. like a lot of sam’s characterization in the early seasons is about striving not necessarily towards “Normalcy” (although thats an essential part of it) but, more broadly, towards the moral ideal that’s been set forth by the white supremacist christian hegemony of american culture. and this manifests in the way that he runs away to stanford and tries so so hard to fit in, and also in his self destructive devotion to the christian god. it’s almost entirely based in a feeling of being unclean or unholy, and he believes in god not as a comfort but as a desperation for salvation, or a purification of what he believes is dirty blood.
so sam is TRYING to assimilate into this mainstream moral ideal, we see that, and there are times where he actually almost succeeds! he got into stanford with a full ride on his own merit! he did really well all four years, and he ended up with friends and a white woman he wanted to marry and entrance into a career that would have marked him as a respectable and fairly well off man for the rest of his life. he is a faithful christian, he prays every day and he reads the bible and he genuinely believes. surface level, he might have been comfortable forgetting about his roots and assimilating successfully for the rest of his life. but, crucially, he DOESNT succeed. why?
there is something marking him as “different” the entire time, something inherent, something he can’t shake off no matter how hard he tries to repress it. at stanford, of course, its his childhood, the monster hunting, the fucked up family, the extreme poverty. with christianity, its the demon blood. he can pretend all his life to be a good christian middle class lawyer with a nice white wife and a nice picket fence, but at the end of the day that life was not built for somebody like sam, and to succeed in it he will have to repress parts of himself that will never go away.
put this into the context of race. i said that i think dean’s relationship with gender white supremacy americana etc becomes more interesting when he’s a brown skinned man of color. dean is unable to assimilate into the kind of life that sam aims for. he has a markedly more antagonistic relationship with cops, he couldn’t get through school even though he’s demonstrably very intelligent, and he just doesn’t make the kind of first impression that sam does; people see sam as sweeter, kinder, more trustworthy, somebody who can be reasoned with. dean, by contrast, is usually treated with more wariness, more distrust. it’s dean who’s the primary target of the manhunt (before they fucking dropped that plotline lmao). all of this evidence taken together, sam, i think, is noticeably lighter than dean, maybe even conditionally white passing.
and this is an important part of how he’s trying to assimilate. he can feel that he’s ALMOST there, that he can ALMOST be the american moral christian ideal he’s been taught is more important than anything, if he can just contort himself into something that closely resembles a middle class christian white man. but that’s all he can ever do, is RESEMBLE that, no matter how hard he works. so he might be a token diversity point at his workplace or his school: of course he earned his place there, but he’s still aware that his position doesn’t come with the same ease of the middle class christian white man sitting next to him. so sam tries to make himself smaller, keeps himself clean shaved, his hair neat, doesn’t let himself tan too much, speaks softly and eloquently, represses his anger, doesn’t talk about his family, dates white girls, has unthreatening career aspirations, tries so so so so so hard to be a good christian because maybe, he thinks, someday he’ll wake up and he won’t feel like he’s wrapped in cellophane, separated by something clear but strong from the culture he’s trying to earn a place in. maybe he’ll feel one day that he’s earned his place, that he’s just the same as everybody around him, that he won’t have this unspoken but obvious difference to him that follows him everywhere. he thinks maybe he’ll be able to separate himself entirely from monstrousness, that one day he’ll pray and it won’t feel like begging to be somebody else.
but when dean comes for him. slowly but surely, he starts to realize that there never has been and never will be a place for him in this american white supremacist christian culture, and the cracks start to appear. he realizes that he’s never really felt at home anywhere, that the roots he’d tried so hard to put down were all wrapped in cellophane too, and after jess’s death, its the easiest thing in the world to pull those roots up because he never belonged there anyway. he starts getting angrier, stops caring who hears him yell. he stops repressing the powers that he’s been hiding from himself for as long as he can remember. very slowly, he looks this fact straight in the face: he is a monstrous Other, and he will never be anything else. he’s always been more self aware than dean, but it doesn’t help him now. he becomes angrier and more desperate all at once, pushing dean away and pulling him closer at the same time, praying more vehemently and still using his powers more often, letting himself become scarier looking and still sweet talking cops. he’s in this permanent state of conflict, because it’s virtually impossible for him to realize that the value system he’s had such faith in his entire life is false and cruel, so when he finds that he’s permanently locked outside of it, it doesn’t help him, it only convinces him that he’s a monster.

StackedNatural Day 141: 7x17, 11x16, 15x13
StackedNatural Masterpost: [x]
March 23, 2022
7x17: The Born-Again Identity
Written by: Sera Gamble
Directed by: Robert Singer
Original air date: March 23, 2012
Plot Synopsis:
Lucifer is driving Sam into madness. Desperate to save him, Dean tries to find someone who can help.
Features:
Sam’s psychotic break, Lucifer reading the DSM IV, Emmanuel the faith healer, heartfelt talks in the impala, Meg saving Dean’s ass, Dean giving Cas back the trenchcoat, Cas taking Sam’s hell trauma.
My Thoughts:
Hey so remember yesterday, when I said I was sick but don’t worry, it’s not covid? Well, I was wrong and it IS covid, thanks universe. I’m going to still do Stacked (I’m just lying in bed watching netflix anyways), but forgive me if the posts are shorter and less coherent.
This arc is basically the one time that they really focus on the mental trauma of what one of the boys has gone through. Sam’s illness isn’t from a curse or a deal, it’s just the natural consequence of the things he’s gone through.
I’ve been waiting with baited breath for Cas to come back, because a lot of the season 7 filler episodes without him kind of suck. I love how ready Dean is to forgive him, to defend him to himself, even with him breaking Sam’s wall being the reason he was in the hospital in the first place. I love that even without his memories, Cas’ natural instinct is to help people in any way he can. He gets in the car of a random dude and drives like 12 hours even after he sees him kill someone. Jensen’s acting in this whole episode is great, but especially in the scene with Daphne (side note, does anyone ever explain to her what happened to her husband?).
In the same way, even when Sam is so sick he’s barely functional, he wants to help Marin with her ghost problem. I love how fundamentally good they are.
I had forgotten how prominently Meg is featured in this episode - it’s a good one to stack so closely with Goodbye Stranger. Also I enjoy seeing her flirt with Cas, it’s fun.
@meg3point0 pointed out that Dean making a pseudo-deal with Meg to protect Cas is exactly what Cas did last season with Crowley to protect Dean. I love it.
This has been said a million times, but they’ve changed cars a ton of times this season. Dean has been moving that dirty, bloody trench coat from trunk to trunk out of sentimentality, because he had no reason to hope that Cas was coming back. This is also the final piece of a series of moments that I talked about in an earlier post, but all season Dean has been tentatively reaching out, telling people that he was struggling, and all of them except of Emmanuel/Cas has told him to suck it up and move on. Cas tells him that he isn’t a machine. That’s love.
Notable Lines:
“I won. Your madness won. I mean, look at you. It's hard to believe you were the guy that saved the world once.”
“You know, I used to be able to just shake this stuff off. You know, whatever it was. It might take me some time, but... I always could. What Cas did... I just can't – I don't know why.” [...] “You're not a machine, Dean. You're human.”
“I deserved to die. Now, I can't possibly fix it... So why did I even walk out of that river?” “Maybe to fix it.”

11x16: Safe House
Written by: Robbie Thompson
Directed by: Stefan Pleszczynski
Original air date: March 23, 2016
Plot Synopsis:
After a dangerous creature is released into an old house, a mother and child are comatose. Sam and Dean find that Bobby and Rufus tracked the same creature so the Winchesters look to the past to catch the monster before any one dies.
Features:
A “previously on” that believes in Rufus/Bobby, flashbacks to sometime in s4, evil wallpaper, good special effects, Rufus’ fabulous body, a beautiful moment outside space and time
My Thoughts:
I had never seen this episode before, so I got really stoked when I realized that it was a Robbie Thompson episode, and it was fully justified! I love when a “filler” episode does a lot of work to fill out character details. Just because we aren’t learning more about Casifer or Amara, doesn’t mean it has to be one I would skip on a rewatch.
I really liked how smooth the transitions were between past and present, in the writing and in the directing. I loved paralleling Dean and Bobby so much, the way they both see their kid (kids, in Bobby’s case) that aren’t their kid dead in the nest.
I have missed Bobby and Rufus so much, and I’m glad we got an episode dedicated to how they were a bickering old married couple. I love that the nest was outside time and space so that Dean and Bobby got to really see each other one more time.
The only thing that I wish was different is that I think they missed some opportunities with the hallucinations Dean saw in the nest. If you wanted to keep queerbaiting us (which they did) you could have had Bobby see his dead wife and then Dean see both Cas and Amara, and we could have all argued over which one was supposed to be the mirrored love interest.
My brain is melting because of the covid so I can’t think of much more to say, but I really loved this episode, it was delightful.
Notable Lines:
“”Well if by backup you mean you do all the heavy lifting while I watch. It's Shabbat!”
“Were you ever nice?” “1985. Worst year of my life.”
“Sam and Dean are right in the middle of this thing. I'm worried about my boys, Rufus.”
“Oldest rule of hunting, Bobby. You can't save everyone.”
“How messed up are our lives that you seeing a vision of dead me is actually kind of comforting?”

15x13: Destiny's Child
Written by: Buckleming
Directed by: Amyn Kaderali
Original air date: March 23, 2020
Plot Synopsis:
A search for the one thing that may give the Winchesters an edge against God leads Sam and Dean to Jo's door and to a secret that may have died with Ruby; Castiel asks Jack to do the unthinkable to help the brothers in their quest.
Features:
The pizza man montage, alternate universe Sam and Dean, Jack learning how to blow bubblegum bubbles, Sister Jo and Ruby’s sordid past, Cas visiting the Empty, Meg as the Shadow, HunterCorp, Cas and Dean standing at an altar, Jack going to Eden and regaining his soul, Dean and Cas bickering like a married couple.
My Thoughts:
There is so much going on in this episode I don’t even know where to start. Buckleming strikes again with their insane pacing. Doing Stacked doesn’t particularly help with this, I have lost all semblance of an understanding of the timelines of the late seasons of Supernatural.
I have no idea WHAT they thought they were doing with the pizza man montage - like yeah showing us Meg was a good idea but the rest of it… what? Someone on the editing team is a heller.
I had almost forgotten about HunterCorp Sam and Dean. I think I actually forcibly blocked them from my memory for two reasons, the first being that they have absolutely no material impact on the plot at large (which is a huge waste of literally a second Sam and Dean), and the second being that Jared’s acting as HunterCorp Sam is so bad that it borders on a homophobic hate crime. Someone online (I didn’t save the post or I would link it) pointed out that if they were going to introduce another Sam and Dean they can’t realistically get rid of them the way they did. They’re highly skilled, highly trained hunters who could help as you literally fight God.
I am assuming that Daneel and Genevieve just told their husbands that they wanted to be on the show but that they mostly wanted to hang out with each other and Misha, and I respect that. Sister Jo and Ruby definitely had sex at least once, imo. And as much as they were claiming not to trust each other they were planning to ride out the apocalypse in the Garden of Eden together, so.
I’m mad that Hell isn’t scary still (although I certainly like Rowena’s design better than Crowley’s). I just think that it shouldn’t be so chill for Sam and Dean to walk into the place that holds their greatest trauma and have it be fine.
I’m mad that they’ve set up so many ways to visit the Empty or bring someone out of the Empty and then they drop it and don’t try to rescue Cas. And for all the emphasis on how much the Shadow wants to go back to sleep, it’s still awake at the end of the series. I love Meg as the Shadow though - I wish it had been her all along, rather than Misha being weird, or it could have taken the form of any of the many many angels they’ve killed. Also, it’s BS that Ruby never comes back after making that deal with Cas.
It’s kind of a bummer that the way Stacked worked out, the last episode of season 15 is Jack getting his soul back. The momentum of the emotional arc is all cut off since we’ve already watched the end of the series. At least it means fewer episodes per week, which is more sustainable.
Notable Lines:
“Cas, you know what's good about being dead?” “Uh, as I recall, very little.”
“You know, Dean, he – he feels things more acutely than any human I've ever known.”
“Ruby? The demon you were sexually intimate with?”
“Why do they call this place the Empty? This place is full. It's full of sorrow and despair playing over and over again, of angels and demons dreaming about their regrets. Forever.”
Laura’s (completely subjective) Episode Rating: 7.2
IMdB Rating: 8.4
In Conclusion: Stack with today and yesterday is that Dean always loses at rock-paper-scissors.

do you think they could've handled sam's s4 arc better?! some of her scenes just felt really off & wasn't really like the sam we've seen before - i know they were trying to bring out her more aggressive side & show a different mean side of hers however esp. in scenes where she was taunting tory & all idk it just didn't land too well (and no fault to mary's acting or anything there, i simply love & adore mary's portrayal of samantha) but i'm honestly kinda disappointed as to how they handled her arc this season...anyway i would love to hear your thoughts regarding this :)
Yeah I get what you mean anon. I felt the same way at first. But this edit puts some things in perspective...I think Sam was still really struggling with her PTSD this season. It doesn’t make what she did okay, but it’s more realistic for her than I was expecting for this show. I think it was @robbyykeene that said she has some of the most nuanced writing on the show, and personally, I absolutely agree, especially with how she was handled this season.
It didn’t help, I think, that Amanda was helping Tory, and Sam still doesn’t know about Tory’s situation. She doesn’t have all the facts like we do—she knows Tory isn’t as fortunate as her, but she doesn’t know the details of her mom, her brother, her position as the head of the family for presumably years...there’s a lot Sam doesn’t know. She just sees Tory as the girl who traumatized and hospitalized her—which is a fair viewing, but there’s more to the situation that Sam needs to find out.
When she does...I think that’ll also kickstart her becoming less classist (because remember, she still is! Being around Robby probably made her question things a bit, but it didn’t make her treat Tory any better, so she’s still very much in that Encino mindset).

what are the gayest destiel episodes you can think of?
ohhhhh i gotchu hold on (this is basically gonna end up being a list of my fave destiel episodes lmaooo)
ok so just a heads-up, i don’t really remember much from s10 onwards (a lot of those episodes i haven’t actually watched since they aired whoops) and i’m currently stuck at the beginning of s9 on my complete rewatch soooo this list focuses only on the first half of the show. i might do an update if i ever manage to finish my rewatch (and remember to post an update at all when the time comes)
ok here we go:
4x16 - On the Head of a Pin
dean calls cas “cas” to his face for the very first time
dean is all “you can't ask me to do this, cas. not this.” (about torturing alastair) and uriel is all “who said anything about asking”, but cas is all: “this is too much to ask, i know. but we have to ask it” and that is the moment that dean realizes that cas cares about him and his feelings/well-being and that’s when he demands to speak to cas alone
and it’s only after cas tells dean he really doesn’t want dean being forced to do the torturing that Dean gives in (”i would give anything not to have you do this”)
like, it’s so obvious already how much cas cares about dean already and we’re only in s4
cas is even starting to go down the path of disobedience (with a little help from anna admittedly, but still. he’s starting to consider it)
they’re so?? comfortable?? with each other. when cas visits dean at the hospital in the end
4x22 - Lucifer Rising
dean literally makes an angel fall in this ep, i mean come on... (the way cas shows up behind him all “you asked to see me” after dean smashes the angel statue cracks me up every single time gsdlka)
dean desperately trying to get cas to help him (bc he knows that IF there’s an angel that would help him it’s cas)
cas is too afraid though and dean gets pissed and literally breaks up with him (D: "you spineless, soulless son of a bitch. what do you care about dying? you're already dead. we're done." C: "dean-" D: "we're done!")
this is the episode in which cas makes his decision and chooses dean over heaven
5x03 - Free to Be You and Me
in the previous episode sam and dean had a fight and split up. this episode starts out with dean being pissed and annoyed and just in a bad mood in general
when cas shows up and asks for help dean is very grumpy and doesn’t want to help at first but then reluctantly agrees
throughout the episode, the more time dean spends with cas the better his mood gets (honestly this point is worthy of its own separate post, i have enough screenshots lmao)
like he’s even smiling at the end of the ep when he’s talking to cas in the car!! (except then he looks over and realizes cas has left mid-conversation again and that smile is wiped right off his face and i’m sad :( )
when they’re in that brothel dean mostly has eyes for cas, even when chastity the hooker is standing right next to him
after the brothel incident when dean is cracking up and goes “it's been a long time since I've laughed that hard. it's been more than a long time. years.” like... buddy. your crush is showing.
and the way cas smiles lovingly at dean laughing next to him
dean be like: “personal space”     also dean: *reaches into cas’s coat without hesitation* *fixes cas’s shirt and tie without hesitation*
also the funniest thing about the whole “personal space” moment in the motel is that there was more than enough space for dean to step aside and increase the distance between him and cas if he had really been all that uncomfortable but he just. doesn’t. no he just stays right where he is
when raphael is trapped in the holy oil and threatens cas all “castiel, I'm warning you. do not leave me here. i will find you.” and cas goes “maybe one day. but today, you're my little bitch.” and walks away and dean tells raphael “what he said” like the impressed and proud boyfriend that he is
inside jokes (see here)
some more iconic quotes/moments from this episode:
“cas, we’ve talked about this. personal space”
“so, what, i'm thelma and you're louise and we're just going to hold hands and sail off this cliff together?”
“well. last night on earth. what are your plans?” “i just thought i'd sit here quietly.”
“let me tell you something. there are two things i know for certain. one, bert and ernie are gay. two, you are not gonna die a virgin. not on my watch.”
5x14 - My Bloody Valentine
hunter husbands!!
the way that dean is not in the mood for hook-ups on valentine’s day and then goes to stare at cas like That
that iconic phone call at the hospital where cas just appears in front of dean who nearly runs into him
cas be looking at sam while listing all the things people can be starving for, and then looks at dean before saying “love”
ok i know this doesn’t have that many points but really this entire ep is great, i very much enjoy all the interactions between cas and dean in this ep
like when dean is not hungry and cas is all “you're not gonna finish that?” and grabs the plate without waiting for an answer bc they’re this married in s5 already
6x20 - The Man Who Would Be King
i mean... this one is obvious isn’t it
this ep is literally all about how cas is doing everything for the winchesters aka dean
the way sam and bobby cautiously voice their suspicions of cas to dean has the same energy as carefully breaking it to a family member that you think their partner is cheating on them
and when they trap cas in the holy oil and confront him dean also acts like a betrayed wife(gn)
which is such a stark contrast to how sam and bobby react to the betrayal (they’re mostly just like “eh this sucks” while dean is emotionally affected)
and even in the following episodes dean is way more affected by cas’s betrayal than sam and bobby are and dean is the one who argues the most with cas (honestly, this entire arc is literally that post that’s all “how do i know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”)
ok but the holy oil scene is truly like a soap opera (i mean... “where were you when i needed to hear it?” “i was there. where were you?” and dean looking back at cas one last time before running away)
this is their first big break-up and it takes them until the s7 finale to make up
special shoutout to cas watching dean rake leaves
this ep is a LOT
7x17 - The Born-Again Identity
dean’s FACE when he sEES CAS. and then DEAN’S FACE AGAIN when “emmanuel” is all “what’s your issue?”
dean’s face all throughout that first scene with “emmanuel” and daphne, I’M
“you know, I used to be able to just shake this stuff off. you know, whatever it was. It might take me some time, but... i always could. what cas did... i just can't – i don't know why” BECAUSE YOU’RE IN LOVE WITH HIM, IDIOT
the way dean interrupts all irritated when meg goes “i think we're gonna be good friends too” at “emmanuel” (jealous bf much gsdlksafd)
the way dean kept the trenchcoat just in case so he can give it back to cas should he return (which ofc he did)!!!!
7x21 - Reading is Fundamental
yet another one of those “how do I know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”
at the beginning of the ep at some point sam’s phone rings and when he says that meg (who is watching over cas at the mental hospital) is calling, dean is quick to stand up and even tho meg called sam, dean is the one who ends up having the phone call with her lmao
also dean has no chill during that phone call lmao (he’s irritated when he finds out meg didn’t call them right then and there as soon as cas woke up and he’s immediately concerned when meg says cas is different, while sam’s just standing there holding his phone out to dean, being all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lmao)
dean: *pissed af at cas*    also dean: *almost breaks his own neck at the speed with which he whips his head around at the mention of cas’s name and is desperate to know his location when cas calls meg after dean blasted him away with some other angels at the hospital*
ok no but then meg tells cas their location and cas zaps into the car and it’s hilarious how quick dean is to interrupt whenever cas turns his attention to meg in that scene
8x07 - A Little Slice of Kevin
dean seeing cas everywhere
when you see your best dudebro outside the window in the middle of a storm but when you get up he’s gone and you feel like crap because you could’ve made it out of the war zone together and you just cannot fathom why he didn’t try harder and you just don’t understand why you’re feeling what you’re feeling (and judging by dean’s reaction to sam’s suggestion, clearly it’s not survivor’s guilt)
dean’s FACE when cas suddenly appears behind him in the bathroom
jacting joices: the infamous boner scene (yet another example of “how do I know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”)
jacting joices pt 2: sam and dean are talking case and then cas walks over to join the conversation and there is literally no reason for dean to check cas out (see here)
during the rescue mission when cas zaps into the room and has a stand-off with crowley and then when dean finally manages to break into the room, can i just say... the way dean immediately rushes to cas (who’s ended up on the floor) and grabs him by the shoulder before he bothers to look around the room
D: “that was a bonehead move back there. you could have gotten yourself killed. why didn't you wait for me?” C: “well, i didn't get killed. and it worked” D: “and if it didn't?” C: “it would have been my problem.” D: “well, that's not the way i see it.”
the purgatory flashbacks when dean keeps insisting that cas is coming along with them back to earth and won’t hear otherwise
“i did everything I could to get you out – everything! i did not leave you.”  “so you think this was your fault?”
“look, I don't need to feel like hell for failing you, okay? for failing you like i've failed every other godforsaken thing that i care about! i don't need it!”
i know we hate buckleming but this episode, man. this episode
8x08 - Hunteri Heroici
i was gonna put this as a special shoutout but then it turned out that i had more to say about this ep than i initially thought
it’s the way dean and cas keep gravitating towards each other in the first half of the episode. no seriously, they somehow keep ending up beside each other and you start wondering “what’s personal space” (friendly reminder that this is the ep right after they’re finally back together again after purgatory)
the married energy and the bickering
the “talk to me” scene where cas finally opens up to dean (but then interrupting moose strikes)
at the retirement home dean to sam and cas: “no flirting you two” then CUT to: dean and cas sitting at a table with an elderly lady who is staring at cas with heart eyes and... lady: “you are so pretty, charles” dean: *must look at young nurse’s butt immediately to distract myself from gay thoughts*
i’m sorry but the way he smiles so widely at cas at one point when they’re talking to that lady, like, she’s just called cas a bounder and dean’s amused about that but his amusement is not in any way malicious and his face is just so full of love when he looks at Cas, it’s embarrassing really (see here)
9x06 - Heaven Can't Wait
ok so i haven’t watched this ep in like 5 years so my memories on this aren’t as fresh as with the previous eps but! it’s the way that cas and dean act exactly like exes (who are still in love with each other) in this ep
dean’s face as he’s staring at cas through the shop window
dean’s smile when he shows up inside the shop
the entire “i can’t let you do this cas” scene in the car
the infamous fanfiction gap
special shout out to:
5x18 - Point of No Return for all the bickering (“you know what? blow me, cas”) and especially  “well, cas, not for nothing, but the last person who looked at me like that… i got laid.”
6x10 - Caged Heat for the pizza man and dean’s reaction to all the megstiel (like jealous bf much?)
6x19 - Mommy Dearest for the strong married energy dean and cas give off in this ep (honestly, all their bickering, it’s glorious) (friendly reminder that this is right before tmwwbk)
7x23 - Survival of the Fittest for the “i’d rather have you cursed or not” scene
8x02 - What's Up, Tiger Mommy? for the purgatory flashbaks with that one monster calling cas dean’s angel and the reunion scene by the river with highlights such as “nice peach fuzz” and “i prayed to you cas, every night” and “i have a price on my head, and i've been trying to stay one step ahead of them, to – to keep them away from you” and “cas, we're getting out of here. we're going home” and “cas, buddy, i need you” and “let me bottom-line it for you. i'm not leaving here without you. understand?”
8x17 - Goodybe Stranger for “i don't know, dean. if he's so sketchy, then why were you praying to him?” and the entire crypt scene (yes this is a big one and yes i’m still only putting it as a special shoutout and yes it’s bc of the megstiel content this ep ok bye <3)
