fionna's world being represented by a dandelion makes so much sense ... they're weeds. yet people make wishes through them, changing their whole meaning from something meant to be destroyed to something hopeful.

dandelions are also resilient and it makes sense that something associated with them would. you know. perservere despite the destruction caused by the scarab.

but ultimately i think what REALLY made me tear up over this is that dandelions are really boring plants. when you're a kid you blow on them and make your wish but they're not eyecatching or anything but still, fionna's final wish was for her old world to still exist as it was when she left it (> plain and simple. boring even).

like the moment she realized she would lose her friends, and that her friends might forget each other if the world got its magic back, she immediately decided she didn't want it and I think that ties back to the dandelion metaphor so well... like, do you really need magic to be real to find it everywhere? or can you turn something boring into something magical?

My brain is on vacation right now so this might not make sense, but:

I think 13 is the only person who can really understand House, and vice versa. And I think they both realize that, even though no one else really sees it. House's life more or less ended with the infarction. He couldn't do most of his regular activities anymore, and his life is mostly pain because of it. 13's life more or less ended with her Huntington's diagnosis. She knows that she can't make plans for her future because the future doesn't exist, and she refuses to get too attached to something that's even more temporary for her than it is for anyone else.

So House and 13 know that the other is only person who knows what it means for your life to be more or less over. That's why they see each other as equals, because they know the same experience. It's also why House basically ends up as 13's dad. His life has been more or less over for longer than 13's since she doesn't get the Huntington's diagnosis until HH/WH, so he has more experience with getting through that and more or less learning to cope with it.

That's why they seem to respect each other so much more than anyone else respects them, too. They understand why both of them make the decisions that they do, even when it looks stupid to everyone else.

common ground i think is one of the only episodes of mlp i would say is mainly For adults, not just adult fans (with kids) but adults in general, like, parents who are watching the show with their kids

and im kinda curious abt that, this was definitely an episode mainly focused on rainbow dash helping her friend try and bond with his girlfriends kid cause she wont marry his gf without her daughters approval, package deal thing, and the way they go abt it absolutely has mlp fun and flare that make it appropriate for kids but the way they write like a very Adult problem with the adult characters, it definitely feels more like the writers wanting to give something to the parents (mainly step or Soon to be stepparents ig) something to snack on and take from which i really dig
