i love the idea of roman and remus being paralells in the sense that roman spends hours in front of a mirror beautifying himself because he's afraid of what will happen if he's ever ugly, and remus spends hours in front of a mirror uglifying himself because he's afraid of what will happen if he's ever pretty.

Remus being the first dark side. Remus who, from the moment of his creation, was designed to be an outcast, and to be hated, and knows it. Remus who has only ever been able to make "friends" through people being forced to tolerate him, and watching those same people drift away when they didn't have to be around him anymore. Remus who is so used to people leaving, so used to all relationships with other sides being fragile and temporary, that he simply cannot fathom that someone would enjoy his compony, and want to make time for him, or treat him with basic respect. and then someone does.

Sanders Sides Angst Headcannons
@thatsthat24
CW: Angst headcannons for each of the sides
———————————————————————
• After Janus’ fake compliments in the courtroom, Roman has a hard time believing compliments from Thomas and the other sides.
• Back when Virgil still lived with the Dark Sides, Janus would make a cake for Virgil’s birthday every year that the two of them and the other Dark Sides could share. After Virgil left, Janus continued the tradition of baking a cake. However since Virgil’s gone Janus takes the cake to the anxious side’s old room and eats some of it by himself, leaving a bit in the room in case Virgil ever decides to come back.
• Remus has a sketch book full of drawings he and Roman made together before the mindscape became divided. Whenever Remus misses his brother he’ll look at the drawings.
• Since nobody likes to listen to him, Logan has a journal he writes all his thoughts in. The journal started off as a professional log of his days, but it’s slowly become more of diary since it’s basically his only companion.
• Patton has a closet full of boxes tissue boxes in his room because he lets out all the sad emotions he suppresses through tears when he’s alone.
A/N: I just wanted to note that if you like any of my headcannons and want to write a fanfic or make a drawing based on it you can do so as long as you credit me and tag me in the post so I can see it.

Janis' Angst Corner
🎄 Christmas Edition 🎄
+ Janus and Remus get left out of Christmas every year. They both claim that they don't care and in fact hate the holiday. But truthfully, they both are extremely hurt by it. So they opt to spend the day together and get each other presents.
+ Patton wants to include Janus and Remus, at the very least in their secret Santa that they do every year. But Virgil and Roman hate the other two so much that he would feel too guilty, like he ruined their Christmas.
+ Logan gets sick of the constant Christmas music and hates how expensive and stressful the season is. He would rather just skip the holiday all together. Oftentimes he'll sneak off after presents to spend time with Janus and Remus since they don't really celebrate the holiday.

gangrene
remus & logan, T, 2.5k words. heavy angst !!
summary:
"May I ask my question now?" Logan returns his hand behind his back. Admittedly, he was quite enticed. A favor from Logan in the middle of one of Thomas' biggest life crises? This got to be good. So, he nods eagerly, the same wide grin plastered from earlier. "Good," Logan says with a single curt nod, "If so, I want you to kill me." Remus' grin almost drops, eyebrow twitching. "What?" Or, gangrene may spread if not treated immediately. As such, most doctors would recommend to amputate the gangrened limb.

Another random head cannon/thought
What if the reason Remus has a gray stripe in his hair is because he keeps dying it because him and roman cus there twins roman has a green stripe and Remus has a red stripe and he dyes that put of his hair so he wouldn't be able to see how he lost his own twin brother and see how much of a screw up his is and for roman I feel like he's constantly dying his hair brown so he doesn't have to see the green stripe and be reminded of a brother he doesn't want
Just a little thought

TWs:
-Smoking/cigarette addiction
-Domestic violence
-Verbal abuse
-Stockholm Syndrome
Characters:
-Virgil Foster: 17 years old, the oldest child in the Foster family. Is Patton’s biological son. Fiercely protective over his little brothers and his papa, Logan. The instigator. Picks fights and does whatever he can to direct all negative attention towards him versus anybody else. Has a smoking addiction, but refuses to admit it.
Tumblr media
-Logan Foster: 35 years old. The papa of Virgil, Roman, and Remus. Weak and emotionally exhausted, his solution to his situation is to try and take as much of the brunt as possible. Has lost hope for any kind of escape, but does all he can to make his kids feel happy and safe in an unhappy and unsafe environment. Kind and gentle with his kids, though very protective over them.
Tumblr media
-Patton Foster: 52 years old. A cruel father to Roman, Remus, and Virgil especially, who is his biologically. Has a terrible drinking habit, and flies into drunk rages when things do not go his way. Loves to put down his children, sees them as parasites rather than kids. Heavily favors Roman, and makes this known. Gaslights and threatens his family into keeping quiet.
Tumblr media
-Roman Foster: 9 years old, a young boy who has a seemingly unlimited amount of optimism at his disposal. The golden child, and the baby of the family, usually sheltered from the situation by the rest of his family. Bright and cheerful, with an impressive work ethic, he’s determined to help his family in any way he can. Not as oblivious as people assume. Unhealthily attached to his twin brother.
Tumblr media
-Remus Foster: 9 years old. Hauntingly mature for his age, with a serious and callous disposition. Does all he can to protect his brother from Patton, glad to keep things the way they are as long as Roman is safe and unharmed. The black sheep. Has trouble regulating emotions, tends to use physical violence such as biting and clawing to try and escape unsafe situations. Unhealthily attached to his twin brother.
Tumblr media
-Remy Stonewall: 38 years old. Logan’s older brother. Owns his own coffee shop downtown. Had a rocky, turbulent childhood, but grew up into a wise, kind man. Loves his family, though he doesn’t get to see them very often due to Patton’s control over them. Knows little about the situation, but tries to help with the problems that he does know are present, such as their poverty.
Tumblr media
-Emile Picani: 34 years old. Remy’s boyfriend, and the temporary child therapist of Roman and Remus. A quirky, but kind person, who loves cartoons and helping troubled children. A hopeless romantic.
Tumblr media
Plot:
One could compare the Foster household to a dollhouse. Pretty and perfect on the outside, but on the inside, controlled by one person. Patton was a dictator in his family. He controlled all the money, all the schedules, all the food, all the chores. When he wanted something from his husband or children, he got it, no questions asked. And if he didn’t? That was when punishment ensued.
The house was a miserable place for Logan, Roman, Virgil, and Remus. Logan, being Patton’s husband, has tried to escape many times, but it only resulted in worse and worse punishment, and taking it out on the children. So Logan stopped trying, and resigned himself to being Patton’s punching bag.
Virgil, being a teenager, has had enough of Patton’s treatment. He openly rebels and instigates in order to draw Patton’s attention away from Logan and the little twins. It gets him hurt, but by now, Virgil is used to it. For most of his childhood, after all, Patton was all he knew.
But soon, it all becomes too much. The twins are having a hard time hiding the bruises at school, and Virgil’s injuries get worse and worse, as does Logan’s. They decide that they need to run away from Patton. But where is there to go? Luckily, Logan’s brother Remy has a big house, and he’s always begging Logan to come visit. It all comes crashing down when Logan finally decides to tell Remy what’s been going on with Patton.

i offer a twist to the standard, typical “janus disguises as a light side to see what it’s like to live as one” idea and offer alternatively:
roman disguising as janus because he misses remus and desperately wants to spend time with him, but knows that patton won’t like that, and also has no idea what remus thinks of him, and whether or not he likes him.
roman isn’t as good at disguising as janus, but he does a good enough job, though he’ll occasionally let himself shine through, just to see how remus reacts. but what causes roman to accidentally drop his disguise out of pure shock is when remus one day comes to “janus” sobbing because of how much he misses roman.

The Awful Truth
Summary: Janus finds out Remus' true feelings about him
Pairing: platonic Dukeceit
Warnings: lots and lots of angst, some cursing, a lot of yelling and arguing. If there's anything else lemme know.
Word count: 1,090
Ahhh dukeceit week started I'm so excitedd!!! I chose to focus on the truth prompt for today, prepare yourself for angst and heartbreak... this doesn't have a happy ending... enjoy!😉
@dukeceitweek day 1: truth/dare
.........
Janus sighed in relief as he appeared back in his room, quickly putting the glove he took off back on, shivering as he remembered how he exposed himself in front of Thomas, Roman and Patton.
Strange, he didn't think of himself as someone who would take a leap of faith like that… he certainly didn't plan on doing it today… but he saw an opportunity and he took it. Janus did see himself as an opportunist, that was all it was, nothing more.
He didn't have much time to contemplate the matter further as someone burst into his room and flopped dramatically on his king-sized bed. Janus didn't even have to turn around to see who it was.
"Hello, Remus, glad you listened to my latest knocking lecture I gave you, truly appreciate it." Janus said as he turned around to face the creative side sprawled on his bed.
Remus huffed. "Knocking's boring, this place is boring, what the fuck took you so long?" He whined needily and Janus rolled his eyes.
"Some of us are actually getting things done you know, making progress and all that nonsense." Janus remarked.
"C'mon Janny, all you do these days is work! Let's have some fun like we used to. You know, before you became all serious and uptight." Remus provoked him, as usual knowing exactly how to get a rise out of the deceitful side.
Janus smirked. "Is that what you think? Well, will 'uptight and serious' do this?" He snapped his fingers, turning into Patton.
"No, Thomas! You can't say anything other than the truth! Otherwise you'll be…" he gasped exagertavley. "Like everyone else." With that he clutched his heart dramatically and fainted with mocked horror.
Remus grinned. "There's my snakey! Do me next! Do me next!" He sat up on Janus' bed and clapped his hands excitedly.
Janus smirked proudly as he got up, changing into Remus next, and then Roman, until he impersonated all of the sides in turn.
They were both giggling and snickering at the end of it and Janus finally changed back into his fabolous self.
"So, what happened with the dorks this time?" Remus asked blatantly as they both laid on the bed next to each other.
Janus huffed. "They were impossibly frustrating as usual, Patton even more so, had a total moral breakdown, his tiny brain unable to process that sometimes you need to prioritize yourself." He rolled his eyes.
"But luckly I was able to knock some sense into him, Roman didn't take it well but he'll get over himself. I get that Patton had made his world view so narrow and it's hard for him but that's no excuse to make fun of my name." Janus' heart clenched painfully as he remembered that moment.
Remus turned on his side to look at him. "Your name?"
Janus turned to meet his friend's eyes, then sighed. "Yeah I… I'm not sure what drove me to reveal it myself but… I did, big mistake but at least that seemed to make Patton and Thomas warm to the idea of listening to me from time to time." Janus said bitterly.
Remus huffed. "Well that's not what happened when I revealed my name." He said, sharp tone surprising Janus.
He almost sounded… jealous.
"Remus?" His forehead wrinkled in confusion, studying his old friend carefully.
"You know, I don't know why I'm even surprised, this is sooo typical. Of course, I'm always brutally honest and always tell the truth, but you're the one ending up getting listened to. Perfect sense right?!" Remus was getting frantic with every word, getting up off the bed and pacing around the room.
"Remus, can't you see? This can only be beneficial to both of us in the future-"
"Is it? Is that why you did it, Deceit?" Remus turned around to face him, jabbing an accusatory finger at him.
Janus swallowed at the title. "Of course, why else would I do it?"
"You tell me mister keeping-things-close-to-the-chest, the embodiment of Thomas' selfishness!" Remus was yelling now, voice even more high pitched than usual.
"I don't appreciate what you're implying, Remus." Janus hissed. "Besides, I told you I didn't even plan on doing it-"
"Exactly! Since when do you ever stray from your own brilliant plans hm? Something else pushed you to do it. Am I not enough? Is that it? You prefer them over me now?" Remus was clutching Janus' shoulders now, knuckles white from the tight hold.
"Are you… going to leave? Like him?" Remus suddenly whispered, a sob escaping his throat.
Janus swallowed the bile in his throat, his stomach flipping uncomfortably in his belly. He looked down. "Is that… really what you think of me? After all those years we spent together, just the two of us, cast out from the rest… you still think I'm just selfish and deceitful? That I'll leave you behind the first chance I get? Is that… is that all you see me as?" His voice was sad and defeated.
Remus staggered back, not expecting this reaction. "That's not what I… I'm just scared-"
"Well I was scared too! You think it was easy for me? Do you think I felt comfortable exposing myself in front of them, of all people? But I did it anyway! You know why? Because I finally saw a chance to show them a different side of me, of us. I did it for us, I put myself on the line for the slim chance of changing their goddamn mind about us!" Janus was the one yelling now, standing up and shooting daggers at Remus.
"But no, I only think of myself, right Remus? I'm just lying all the time! Playing endless games with everyone for my own amusement, I don't care about anyone else! Right, Remus?!"
Remus was wimpering in front of him, suddenly seeming small and fragile. Janus sighed.
"I really thought we had something special…" he said quietly, hugging himself. And then his expression darkened. "But truth is... you're just like the rest of them." He spat bitterly. "Get out of my room."
"Jan I-"
"I said, get out of my room!" He slammed his hand on the wall and heard the sound of broken glass. He turned to see it was the wine glass Remus made for him after Virgil left, the green and yellow shards now all over the floor. He turned back towards Remus but he was already gone.
"Good riddance." He snarled. Not like he needs him anyway, he doesn't need anyone… not anymore.

You couldn't take the headcanon of Roman being physically warm and glowing a little like a ball of light and Remus radiating cold like a corpse and having a persistent aura of darkness around him from me if you tried.
Something about them both using their powers of creativity to subtly influence the way Thomas & the other sides perceive them. Warm and welcoming vs fear-inducing and Wrong.
Kid Remus finding it funny to put cold hands on people for a reaction, so he made it permanent to fuck with the other dark sides (heat-seeking creatures) when they were all together as friends, and being vibrantly dark whether he used to want it or not just by merit of how Thomas views him and his role. Roman doing the opposite way back when for the light sides because Patton and Logan both used to love how bright and comfortable he could be and compliment how much like a little star he was.
The twins balancing the temperature of a room every time they're there together, and maybe using it for perfectly temperatured cuddling back when they got along. They belong fitted together but neither of them will ever want that again.
Roman being horribly touch starved so he tries to incentivize people to touch him vs Remus being painfully touch averse and trying to get people to NOT.
Roman slowly getting colder and dimmer the more upset he is but forcing the warmth to stay because maybe it'll make someone comfort him since he's useful as a heater. Remus slowly warming and staring to shimmer when he's happy or excited but trying to keep cold so that he doesn't have to deal with the prospect of any piece of him being likeable.

what if Remus revealed his name so early on because he thought if he didn't everyone would just call him "bad creativity" or "Roman's evil twin", and he didn't want another reminder of how much Thomas and the other sides hated him?

I'm rewatching Embarrassing Phases and honestly gotta say,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frankenstein's monster was a more fitting choice for Logan.
In the original novel, Victor Frankenstein isn't even a doctor. He's a college dropout, who very stupidly decided to play god and try to create life. He never took notes about his experiment, or did any amount of research, the dude literally went graverobbing and decided to create a human being in his college dorm.
And then when the creature turned out to be a little inhuman and scary looking, he immediately abandoned the creature, and decided to mope and moan about the wretched life that he himself had created. He did nothing to stop the creature or protect people from it.
In fact, when he realized that his experiment didn't turn out quite as good as he had hoped, literally the first thing he did was to go and take a nap and let the creature make its way out of the house and cause chaos.
Not to mention, when the creature asked him to create a female creature so it could have some company, instead of simply not giving his new creation reproductive organs, Victor decides to throw a fit at the very last moment because he was scared that the two creatures would reproduce and make monster babies.
This absolutely does not sound like a character Logan would want to dress up as. If he actually met someone like Victor Frankenstein in real life, he would not hesitate to deck them in the jaw full force.
Meanwhile, Frankenstein's monster proved to be not only physically strong but also very intelligent. He quickly learned how to speak, light fire and try to support himself. He learned how to speak French from some books he had found while traveling, and he tried his best to understand and help people. He was curious about the world he was brought into, and was interested in learning more about it. He even tried to reason with his creator, asking him to understand him, only turning "evil" when he truly felt neglected.
This actually has a lot of similarities to Logan who is constantly neglected by Thomas and the other sides. Like the creature, Logan's efforts are ignored and his feelings invalidated. And like the creature, he lashes out when he is repeatedly shut down or overlooked.
While we're on the topic, I do wish Logan had dressed up as the book version of the creature, instead of the pop culture version. In the book, the creature was actually extremely good looking, it was over 6ft and had long luscious hair. Frankenstein had made sure to give it the best features because he wanted to create a perfect human being.
The only problem was that the creature looked a little off, a little uncanny; its skin was pale and yellow (obviously, because it was made from corpses), and it's eyes were also a somewhat unsettling shade of yellow. This is the only reason it is described as ugly and horrendous, mostly by Victor himself.
The creature was not green with bolts on its neck and weird hair. And like I mentioned earlier, it could speak quite eloquently, unlike the pop culture Frankenstein which only communicated in creepy groans.

Series Idea: It focusses on the events of the split.
Except the creativity twins (Remus and Roman) have no recollection of it, they have no memory of who they once were.Everyone made sure the twins wouldn't figure out the truth about the traumatic events that occurred that day.
No matter how much effort they put into hiding it, the truth begins to unravel as both twins start to have night terrors so vivid and surreal
they can't help but think that those nightmares aren't just nightmares but bits and pieces of something they weren't meant to remember
