Requested? No

soulmate au: Whatever you or your soulmate writes on their body appears on both their own skin and their soulmates.
Warnings: starred out swear words, media references that didn’t exist in the cannon time period, Remus’s self loathing, Sirius Black meddling?
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Fem!Reader
(Y/l/n) - your last name
(Y/h) - your house
Y’all this took so long. You don’t even know XD, but I’m really proud, so leave a comment if you enjoy! : )
Tumblr media
“To indeed be a god!”
(Y/n) didn’t know what it meant, but she found the quote rather empowering, and that was the point of poetry, was it not? It was an art form, and art is subjective. What she got out of it was what mattered. Of course, her lack of understanding didn’t stop her from scribbling the words on her arm, right underneath the fading image of the last ones. Maybe her soulmate knew what it meant. She’d have to ask him someday. That is to say, if she ever found him.
It wasn’t from a lack of trying. (Y/n) was rather persistent in her endeavors to decipher who she was supposedly eternally tied to. If the dozens of book quotes that littered her arms day in and day out weren’t proof enough, mixed within the scribbles were little notes, asking him his opinion on certain books, or even just how his day was going. And yet, she still hadn’t received a response.
+ + +
“So, what is it today?” Sirius asked cheekily, as he, and the rest of the Marauders, plopped down across from Remus at the Gryffindor table for breakfast. The sandy-haired boy rolled his eyes, but obliged, lifting his sleeve just enough for his friends to take in the messy loops of his soulmates handwriting.
“‘To indeed be a god?’” Remus nodded his head.
“It’s from a muggle movie. Dead Poet’s Society. Or, at least, I figure that’s where she found it.” Remus explained, his eyes trained on his breakfast. Sirius nodded.
“Sounds depressing.” He noted, Remus looking up at him, clearly offended by the comment.
“It’s inspirational. It’s poetry brought to film. But it’s not like you would know anything about that.” James pointed his fork at Remus, borderline accusatory.
“But, clearly your soulmate does. So, tell me again why you won’t answer her?” Remus sighed, looking up at the boys, a pointed look in his eyes.
“You all know good and well why I’ve been ignoring her for this long. And you also know that it kills me. But this is what’s best for her. I can’t get her all wrapped up in my…furry little problem.” The rest of the Marauders frowned at his words.
“Rem, you know that she’s not gonna care. The universe literally made her for you. She’s going to love you. Moony and all.” James tried to reason, but Remus’s attention was on something else.
“I hope you have a good day today! If you ever get bored, you know where to find me. : )”
Remus smiled a little at the note. He knew he wasn’t going to write back, but, Merlin, was this girl perfect. She always knew how to make him feel better, even when he didn’t know he needed it. If only things were different…
+ + +
Remus was actually an idiot. Sirius Black had been searching for years for the person who scribbled relentlessly on his arms daily. He’d give anything to know who it was that the universe claimed was perfect for him. And here Remus was, not even caring that there was a high probability his soulmate was just across the hall, sitting with her friends, laughing and smiling without a care in the world.
Yes, Sirius had an inkling as to who the girl was that was supposedly perfect for his best friend. He’d noticed a few months ago, a girl from (Y/h) holding a book. The same book Remus had explained his soulmate had written about on his arm that very morning.
This could have been a coincidence, of course. Hence why he never mentioned it to Remus. He didn’t want to get his hopes up. But that didn’t mean he didn’t keep the girl, whose name, he learned, was (Y/n) (Y/l/n), on his radar.
It didn’t take long for him to put two and two together. There were only so much one could chalk up to coincidence. One too many matching bits of ink were plenty proof for Sirius to go to Remus with the news, but he had to be sure…
+ + +
“(Y/n)!” Said girl turned abruptly at the sound of her name, only to roll her eyes when she realized who it was.
“Hello, Sirius. To what do I owe the pleasure?” (Y/n) considered herself relatively kind to most people she came across, but the Marauders pushed her buttons on the best of days. Well… not Remus or Peter, but the company they keep turned (Y/n) off the idea of spending her free time with them.
“(Y/n), how are you on this fine day?” Sirius asked casually, beginning the trek to the next class that they, unfortunately, shared. The girl looked at him oddly, before shrugging her shoulders and answering.
“Alright, I suppose. History of Magic was ghastly. Though, I’m sure being friends with Remus Lupin has its intellectual perks.” She noted, earning a gasp of mock offense from the long-haired Gryffindor.
“I’ll have you know, I do my own homework.” He boasted, earning himself a light giggle from (Y/n).
“Ah, yes. I most definitely believe that.” Sirius, apparently not detecting the sarcasm in her tone, continued on.
“Anyway, that’s not what I wanted to talk to you about.” He said, earning another eye roll from the girl, though this one to his face.
“Somehow, I knew this wasn’t a social call.” Sirius chuckled at her attitude.
“I’m afraid not. Though, I must say, if you’d ever like to just hang out, I’d happily oblige.” He wiggled his eyebrows obnoxiously.
“Duly noted.” She commented as they turned a corner, though she was certain she’d never be that bored. That’ll be the day…
“Actually, I’m here today on behalf of my dear friend, Remus.” (Y/n)’s brow furrowed in confusion.
“What about him?” She asked, trying to hide the way she perked up at the name.
It was no surprise that someone as bookish as she, would have had a crush on Remus Lupin. It was practically a rite of passage at Hogwarts to fall for one of the Marauders at some point or another. Though, most of the crushes ended when the boys discovered their soulmates, or rather their lack of soulmate status with the ones who were into them. But, naturally, (Y/n) fell for the one who had yet to find his universally destined life partner. Or, if he had, he certainly wasn’t broadcasting it to the world.
She’d managed to suppress her feelings, mostly, when the sandy-haired boy was brought up in conversation, but that didn’t mean the feelings weren’t still there.
“Could I see your arm for a moment?” Sirius asked randomly, reaching for the appendage, to which (Y/n) pulled back suddenly. It wasn’t like she was trying to hide her ink covered arms or anything. He*l, she wore short sleeves most days in hopes that someone with similar markings might notice and seek her out. But, there was something about the idea of other people reading her little scribbles that rubbed (Y/n) the wrong way. They were supposed to be between her and her soulmate. Not her, her soulmate, and obnoxiously nosy Sirius Black.
He seemed to understand her internal debate and raised his hands in surrender, an apologetic smile on his face.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to be pushy. It’s just, I might know something, but I don’t want to be wrong.” (Y/n)’s eyes lit up. Could he know? Then another thought appeared in her mind…
“It’s not you, is it?” She asked, none too keen on the thought of being tied to Sirius forever. No offense to him or anything, he just wasn’t her type. Sirius let out a barking laugh.
“Trust me, love, if it was me, you would’ve known a long time ago.” (Y/n) sighed with relief, but was still confused. What did that mean? “Can I just see your arm?”
(Y/n) was still on the fence about everything, but he seemed sincere. What was that phrase? ‘Curiosity killed the cat’? (Y/n) hoped that wasn’t going to be the case, as she held out her most recent addition to the dark haired boy. She heard his breath hitch in his throat and pulled away sharply.
“What?” But Sirius didn’t respond. “What is it?” (Y/n) was getting nervous now. Finally, the boy seemed to shake himself out of his stupor and a wide grin grew across his features.
“Oh, have I got someone who’ll want to meet you…”
+ + +
Remus didn’t know what he expected to happen that day, but it certainly wasn’t this. He’d been perfectly content, working on his homework in the courtyard, when it happened; when his world was thrown off its axis by none other than Sirius Black himself. Well, Sirius Black and company…
“Padfoot… who’s this?” He greeted politely, the attractiveness of the girl standing beside Sirius not going unnoticed by the boy, but he opted to ignore it for the time being. Who knows, with the way Sirius was grinning like a maniac, this girl could be his soulmate or something. Remus wouldn’t want to get in the way of that.
“Remus Lupin, I would like you to meet my friend (Y/n) (Y/l/n).” (Y/n) rolled her eyes a little at the comment.
“”Friend” is a bit of a stretch. But, hi. I don’t know why I’m here, but it’s nice to formally meet you.” Remus liked her smile. It was pretty. He*l, everything about her was pretty. Sirius’s annoyed groan knocked him out of his thoughts.
“Do I have to do everything myself?” He asked rhetorically. “Now what was it, something about “indeed I’m god”?”
“To indeed be a god.”
Remus’s eyes widened as the words didn’t just come from his mouth, but (Y/n) (Y/l/n)’s as well. She held the same shocked expression, as Sirius smirked.
“I suppose, I’ll leave you two to it then… have fun!”
+ + +
Of all the people it could have been, of course (Y/n)’s soulmate would have ended up being the boy she’d been crushing on for years. There was something almost poetic about it. Even more so when you take into account the pained look on his face at his own realization.
(Y/n)’s soulmate didn’t even want to be with her. She registered. The irony was heart wrenching. It hadn’t been lost on the girl, the never ending array of long sleeves Remus Lupin wore. She never thought he’d been hiding anything, until now. She never understood he’d been hiding from her.
But it was the only thing that made sense; why he didn’t seem to have a soulmate hanging around, why she could never for the life of her remember a day when he hadn’t covered up his forearms, no matter the weather. And why she’d never gotten an answer back.
Remus Lupin didn’t want a soulmate. And (Y/n), well… (Y/n) was just collateral damage.
“Y-you…you’re my-“ Remus started, but (Y/n) cut him off.
“No! I mean… yeah, I suppose I am. But you don’t have to- I mean… I know you didn’t want this…” (Y/n) glanced towards her feet, not wanting to see the look on his face, that she knew would just confirm her words. “I’ll leave you alone now…” And then she turned on her heels, fully intending to walk away, maybe go cry in a dark corner in the library for a while, at least, to get it out of her system. But, suddenly, a voice stopped her in her tracks.
“I’m sorry it had to be this way… but I can’t let you get hurt because of me.” It was at this point that (Y/n) finally turned to look at him, the pained expression still there, but perhaps she hadn’t read it entirely right the first time? (Y/n) thought back to everything she knew about the boy. What could he mean? Then, all at once, it clicked.
“Because you’re a werewolf?” Remus turned white as a sheet, and that was all the proof (Y/n) needed. She hadn’t been entirely sure of her accusation until his reaction, but it explained everything.
“H-how did you-“ (Y/n) gave him a look.
“Oh, please. I’m not an idiot. You’re out ‘sick’ once a month, coincidentally on the same night as the full moon.” She started explaining. “Not to mention you smell like a dog most days. Of course, so does Sirius, but he probably doesn’t shower. Anyways, that’s besides the point.” She shook her head at herself for getting off track. “I don’t care, Remus. I like you just the way you are.” At that, the boy laughed bitterly.
“You don’t even know me.” He fired back in defensive. (Y/n) wasn’t deterred, however. She knew she’d hit a nerve, but she could tell some of her words were getting through to him.
“I know you run your hand through your hair when you’re stressed about something, and you’ve read half of the library.” She started, listing off the weird collection of fun facts she’d noticed about him over her years of crushing. Merlin, she hoped she didn’t sound like a stalker. Well, too late to turn back now… “I know you grew up with muggles so you’re not nearly as interested in that class as you pretend to be so you can help James and Sirius with their homework. I know you don’t condone some of their more… fantastical ideas, but you go along anyway because you’re afraid, if you don’t, they’ll get bored of you. But you know deep down they never would.” His gaze turned to his shoes, as she pressed on. “I know you like cinnamon and whipped cream in your hot chocolate, and you’re good at practically everything, except maybe potions, but you’d never ask anyone for help because you don’t want to be a bother.” She’d stepped closer to him during her speech, finally stopping when she was mere feet away. “And I know you’re just trying to protect me, but I don’t need protecting. Especially not from someone as caring as you.”
+ + +
Remus was speechless. He wasn’t even aware of some of the things (Y/n) was rambling on about, but there wasn’t an ounce of his being that didn’t believe them to be true. And he found himself hanging on her every word, his heart clenching as he took in the fact that, all this time, while he’d been trying desperately to ignore her, (Y/n) had been doing quite the opposite, and pining after him from afar. The thought made him feel even worse. He always figured he was pushing her away to protect her, but now, he realized, he was just protecting himself from being rejected because of the monster inside of him.
But here she was, (Y/n) (Y/l/n), the most perfect girl in the whole world, wanting to be with him, wolf and all, and all she asked in return was for him to let her. Remus was ready to melt then and there.
Perhaps there were things he and the boys could do to keep her safe. He already went down to the Shrieking Shack on full moons to protect the school. As long as he could make sure she was in the castle during his time of the month, everything would be fine. And then when they graduate…
They’d figure that out when they got to it. But, one thing Remus knew for sure was that, he couldn’t turn his back on her again. Not when she was right here in front of him, not when she was so close.
But first, he owed her something…
Remus pulled a sharpie from his pocket, covered in lint and dust, but clearly brand new, as if he’d had it for months, but, only now, found the courage to use it as he’d intended. He glanced up at her briefly as he wrote, taking note of the confused expression on her face, and trying not to swoon at the little head tilt that reminded him so much of a puppy. He could wallow in her cuteness later, right now, he had to finish his scribbles…
+ + +
“Carpe Diem.”
On her wrist, in the neatest handwriting she’d ever seen. (Y/n) had to think for a moment before she remembered the scene from the movie, when Mr. Keating mumbled it, so purposefully, to the boys.
“Carpe Diem…”
“Seize the day.” Remus practically whispered, through a deep blush.
She looked up at him in question. Did he mean what she thought he meant?
“(Y/n),” he started, forcing himself to meet her confused, but now hopeful, gaze. “I’m gonna be a monster once a month for the rest of my life, but it’s not fair to you for me to be one the rest of it to.” Before (Y/n) could interrupt and refute his claims of being a “monster,” Remus continued. “You deserve a soulmate. I can’t take that away from you. I won’t. And I’m gonna apologize every single day for your crappy luck in getting saddled with me, but that doesn’t mean I won’t also try my hardest to be the best man I can be, for you.” He coughed awkwardly as he realized what he’d forgotten. “That is, if you’ll still have me?”
+ + +
She didn’t answer immediately. Remus felt like his heart was going to jump right out of his chest if she didn’t say something, anything to end this terrible anxiety. Merlin, he should of just let her walk away. She clearly wanted to walk away. ‘She probably doesn’t even want you anymore. You totally blew it.’
His thoughts were interrupted however by a small force knocking the wind from his lungs.
(Y/n) was hugging him. He was shocked still, for only a moment, before he wrapped his own arms around her back, nuzzling his nose into her hair. She smelled really good. It was intoxicating.
“Don’t let go.” He mumbled, tightening his grip. Remus wanted nothing more then to hold her like this forever. He couldn’t focus on anything else. If he died right then, he’d die happier then he had ever been.
“I wasn’t going to.” He heard and his smile widened. Why on Earth had he avoided this for so long? Everything was perfect.
“So should I take this as a yes?” He asked, cheekily, though a part of him still nervously awaited her assurance. He sighed in relief as he felt her nod against his chest before she spoke.
“Yes, Remus. Absolutely yes.”
“To indeed be a god.”
He grinned.
Never in his life had Remus Lupin felt so…

Summary: (Y/n)’s Pureblood supremacy loving parents don’t appreciate the friendships she’s made at Hogwarts. The boys never knew how much until now…
Warnings: Child abuse, Pain, It’s just kinda upsetting at first? I don’t know I’ve been writing some mildly concerning fics lately… oops? XD

(Y/n) tried to even her breathing as she laid across the train seat, praying to whatever higher power was out there that her friends would show up soon. She could use a distraction from the blinding pain that had been fairly consistent since she left Hogwarts for the summer holiday. Just when she’d learn to live with the constant throb, her parents would succumb her to more torture, simply because she didn’t agree with their Pureblood supremacy belief system.
She hadn’t told the boys about her predicament yet. How could she? They’d be so angry at her for not telling them. (Y/n) didn’t know if she could handle that.
But the punishments had never been this bad. She sighed, knowing she’d have to tell them this time. It was getting so much worse.
“(Y/n)! There you are! We’ve been looking everywhere for you!” James’s voice sounded throughout the small compartment, as the door slammed open. The girl whimpered pitifully at the noise, the headache she’d been nursing all morning coming back tenfold as the four boys joined her.
“Move over, love. We can’t fit.” Sirius pestered, grabbing her leg to shove it off the seat, earning a sharp cry from the girl in response. His hand had bumped against a rather painful bruise on her calf.
“Woah! Hey, hey, hey…” Remus’s face appeared in (Y/n)’s line of sight as he crouched beside her head. “What’s wrong, darling?” One look in her boyfriend’s worried eyes and (Y/n) wanted to break down crying.
“H-hurts…” She managed to get out, shuffling to sit up a little so she could see the rest of her friends, all staring at her with concerned expressions as Remus begins searching her body for injuries.
“What hurts? (Y/n), what happened?” Peter asked. She sighed. Where to begin?
“Everything…” (Y/n) replied, answering Peter’s first question before her eyes met her boyfriend’s again. “Remmy, I-I’m scared.” She gripped his hand tightly. “Don’t-Don’t make me go back there, p-please!” She practically begged, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. Her whole plan to calmly explain her problem thrown out the window in her current state. She was bordering hysterics, trying to get them to understand.
“Shh…shh…you’re okay. No ones gonna hurt you. I’m not gonna let anyone touch you.” He promised earnestly. “Darling, you need to tell me what happened. I can’t help you if you don’t.” She nodded, slowly calming down at the words (Y/n) knew were true. If Remus was around, she was safe. As long as he was near, he would protect her. He always had. That’s just who he was. “Good… now can you tell me where all the cuts and bruises are from?” (Y/n) tried to calm down her breathing again, finally succeeding as Remus’s fingers ran through her hair, soothingly.
“M-my parents… I should’ve t-told you.” (Y/n) looked up and saw a guilty expression on Sirius’s face.
“They’ve been hurting you because you’re in Gryffindor and hang out with us, haven’t they?” (Y/n) looked down.
“I-I’m a blood traitor.” Another tear trickled down her face.
“I should have known.” Sirius said through gritted teeth. “Merlin, I feel so stupid.” (Y/n) shook her head.
“No. I-I’m the stupid one. I should’ve told you. This is-This is all my fault.” Remus’s jaw clenched in anger.
“No! No, it isn’t. You aren’t stupid, darling. You’re frightened. There’s a difference.” He said, leaving no room for argument. “And I’m not gonna let them hurt you again.” There was a finality to his tone that calmed (Y/n) immensely and she nodded.
“Are you gonna be okay, until we get to the school?” James’s voice asked from across the compartment where he and Peter had sat down upon realizing that Remus had things handled. She looked over at him and nodded slowly.
“Alright. As soon as we do, we’re taking you straight to Madam Pomfrey, okay?” Remus phrased it like a question, but (Y/n) could tell he wasn’t asking.
“O-Okay…” she agreed, hating the idea of telling someone else what was happening, but knowing that she would hurt a lot worse if she didn’t. Remus looked at her for a moment, as if checking the truth to her words before nodding back and agreement.
“Okay… now c’mere. We’re only about halfway to the school and you look awfully uncomfortable.” Remus was careful not to jostle her too much as he climbed onto the seat, leaning his back against the window as he pulled the smaller girl between his legs, her head resting on his chest. “You’re gonna be okay, you know that? I’m gonna make sure of it.” (Y/n) just nodded, cuddling further into his embrace. Her bruises ached painfully as they bumped against him, but she didn’t care. This was the safest she’d felt since the end of the last school year. It was almost perfect. Almost…
“C-Can you guys talk about something? Anything?” She asked, her voice coming out in a weak whisper. They looked at her sadly for a moment, Remus’s hands finding their way into her hair once again, before complying, and slowly but surely, they were joking around, almost like normal. (Y/n) smiled softly. Her boys were going to protect her. Everything was gonna be just fine.

“Pads… I Really Messed Up.”
Remus Lupin x Reader
Masterlist
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Requested? No
Summary: Remus didn’t want (Y/n) to find out about his ‘furry little problem’ ever. Much less like this…
Warnings: Remus’s self loathing, blood? I think that’s it : )
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
(Y/n) didn’t know what she was doing. All she knew was that she was sick of the lies surrounding her friendship with the Marauders, and if finding out the truth meant following the boys as they disappeared into the Forbidden Forest in the middle of the night, then (Y/n) would do it. That was her first mistake.
She heard them before she saw them, the whimpers and cries of something animalistic coming from the clearing just ahead. (Y/n)’s brow furrowed in worry. Whatever it was, her friends must have walked right up to it. There was nowhere else they could have gone. She followed their footsteps exactly.
“James?… Sirius?… Remus?… Peter? What’s going on?” She asked, making her way cautiously into the clearing. It was at this point (Y/n) realized, she should’ve stayed in the common room.
Standing before her was a large stag, a black dog, and something she’d only seen in textbooks.
“W-werewolf…” She was frozen to the spot.
“(Y/n)! Get out of here! Run!” Peter’s voice screamed somewhere to her right, but her feet felt like they were glued to the ground. That’s when the lumbering beast noticed her.
“REMUS, NO!” It pounced. (Y/n) felt a burning pain in her shoulder, a wet sticky substance running down her stark white uniform shirt, before everything went black.
+ + +
Remus was sure his friends weren’t telling him something. Ever since he’d woken up, just as usual, the morning after the full moon, something had been off. It could have been the fact that he couldn’t remember much from the night before, an issue quickly explained as Sirius’s fault due to the black dog tacking him hard and smacking his head against a rock, but there had to be something else going on. They’d been skittering around nervously, and, though Remus was usually alone in the Hospital Wing this early in the morning, there was a second bed occupied, a few away from his own with the privacy curtains drawn around it ominously.
When Remus asked the boys, none of them would tell him who was behind it. His stomach dropped into his feet at the sudden notion that it could have something to do with the unusually larger amount of blood covering him when he awoke in the shrieking shack.
He shook the thought from his head. There was no proof that anything had happened. He was working himself up over what could potentially be nothing.
He’d finally managed to calm himself down, when Sirius sat by his bedside, pale faced and serious (no pun intended). More so than he had ever been after a full moon.
“Pads…I really messed up, didn’t I?” Sirius looked down.
“No one blames you, Rem… and I’m sure she won’t either-“ Remus cut him off.
“She?” His thoughts fluttered to (Y/n), his girlfriend who, he hoped to Merlin, had nothing to do with this. Remus gulped nervously. “Sirius…d-did I kill s-someone?” His dark haired friend was quick to shake his head.
“You’d never do that. We’d never let you do that.” He promised, but Remus wasn’t swayed.
“What DID you let me do?” He asked, but the other boy didn’t answer. Remus pressed further. “Sirius… who is behind that curtain?” It was so quiet, Remus almost didn’t catch to word that fell from, Sirius’s mouth. Almost…
“(Y/n).” Remus Lupin’s heart stopped.
+ + +
Everything hurt as (Y/n) awoke, the familiar ceiling of the Hospital Wing staring down at her.
“What happened?” She groaned, turning to her bedside to find Peter and James crowding around her nervously.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” James said with a grin that didn’t reach his eyes.
“How you feeling?” Peter added, a worried look in his eyes. (Y/n) knew what that were up to.
“Like I got run over by the Hogwarts Express. Now don’t try to change the subject. What happened to me?” She asked again, though it sounded more like an order. James and Peter gave each other a look before the bespectacled boy sighed.
“Okay… so we’re gonna tell you something. Promise you won’t freak out?” (Y/n) nodded, though she could feel a knot of nervousness forming in her stomach.
What had happened last night?
+ + +
Remus wanted to curl up into a ball and die. He wanted to throw himself from the top of the Astronomy Tower, never to hurt anyone again. Merlin, he felt like the worst person in the whole wide world.
“I bit her, Pads… I just ruined the life of the one person who I thought could love me.” Remus wouldn’t look at his friend. He already felt enough self-loathing for half the English population. He didn’t need to see the pitying look in the dark haired boy’s eyes.
“Look, Moony. I know you’re scared. I can’t imagine how angry you are with yourself right now, but you need to snap out of it.” Sirius’s tone was harsh. Remus’s upset glare flew up to meet him.
“How can you say that? You have no idea what I-“ Sirius cut him off, as cool and collected as ever. This made Remus even angrier.
“You need to get a grip, Remus. You can wallow in self pity as much as you’d like, but do it on you’re own time. That girl, in there,” He gestures towards the curtained off bed, “she just found out that her whole life’s about to change. She needs you. She needs her annoyingly loving, sickeningly overprotective boyfriend. So, man up, you hear me?” More tears fell from his face as Remus took in Sirius’s words. He was right. (Y/n) was probably scared out of her mind by what went down, and here he was crying to Sirius about how rotten his own luck was.
He needed to talk to her. Remus climbed from his bed, cringing a little at the soreness of his muscles, but he had a mission. Sirius called after him with a final thought.
“And by the way, mate, you’re not the only one mad at themselves for what happened last night. We all messed up.”
+ + +
“So… I-I’m a-“
“Yeah…”
“And-and Remus is-“
“Yeah…”
“And you g-guys help-“
“Uh huh…”
“And he was just t-trying to-“
“Protect you? Of course. Have you met, Remus? His life practically revolves around you.”
“Oh…” (Y/n) didn’t know what else to say. That was a lot of information to take in. She was a… a werewolf. It felt weird to even think it. And so was Remus…
She didn’t even notice that she’d started crying until James and Peter joined her on the bed, their arms wrapping carefully around her in a group hug.
“I-I’m sorry… I d-didn’t… I don’t-“ James interrupted her.
“This isn’t your fault.” But (Y/n) immediately shook her head, eyes wide.
“It’s not Remus’s either. Don’t let him think that it is.” James and Peter looked at each other, already knowing that the poor boy would blame himself no matter what. He always did.
“Hey…” (Y/n) looked up at the familiar voice, taking in the sight of her banged up boyfriend standing just a few feet away.
“Hi…” she whispered back as James and Peter stood, making for the makeshift doorway.
“We’ll let you two talk.” It was silent for a moment as Remus stared at her and the bulky bandage covering her right shoulder, an expression somewhere between guilt and defeat covering his face.
“I’m so sorry…” He sank into the chair beside her bed, his face in his hands as he refused to look at her any longer. (Y/n)’s heart clenched at the sight. Contrary to what James had said, everything that happened the night before was entirely her fault. She’d stuck her nose where it didn’t belong. Curiosity killed the cat, or so it were.
“Rem…” Her delicate hand moved under his chin, tilting his head to look at her. His eyes met hers and she managed a small smile. “I love you. You know that?” She asked. He looked down again, trying to hide the tears building in his eyes, but she noticed. She noticed everything about Remus. His hand came up to hold hers where it still remained on his face, before he spoke again.
“I love you so much. And I’m gonna take care of you. For the rest of our lives, I promise. I’m never letting you get hurt again.” (Y/n) blushed a little at the sentiment, closing her eyes as he rested his forehead against hers.
“You should lay down… you don’t look so good.” (Y/n) noted, hating to kill the mood, but also taking account of the grimaces and grunts whenever he shifted his body in the hard chair. Remus just shook his head.
“I don’t wanna leave you.” (Y/n)’s cheeks heated up again as she got an idea.
“Then, c’mere.” She scooted over, leaving half of the bed empty for the lanky boy to join her. Remus smiled at the gesture and climbed in next to her, pulling the covers up over them, as she cuddled into his chest, careful to avoid their collective injuries.
“I don’t think I’ll mind spending full moons with you if we can keep doing this the next morning.” Remus smiled a little at the notion, ignoring the first half of her statement, opting to focus on the ‘spending mornings like this’ part… Just him and her, for the rest of their lives, just as he’d promised.

“I’ll Be Back Before You Know It.”

(Gif not mine)

Summary: (Y/n)’s had a bad day. All she wants is to spend some time with her loving boyfriend. But, it’s going to be a full moon tonight…
Warnings: kinda sad but not like sad sad more like cute sad, ya know? I really think that’s it. This is like tooth-rottingly sweet : ) XD
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
(Y/n) had a terrible day. She’d never felt more ready to curl up in a ball and cry than she did after her stressful day of essays and pop quizzes and bullies and all kinds of other things that she didn’t want think about again.
But there was still one thing that could brighten her day, or rather one person. Which is how (Y/n) found herself climbing the stairs and opening the door to the Gryffindor boys dormitory, finding Sirius Black, the rooms only occupant.
“Where’s Remus?” She asked, gaining the long haired boys attention.
“Getting ready for tonight.” Tonight… right. It was a full moon. Which meant (Y/n) would be spending the night alone as opposed to cuddled up in her boyfriend’s warm embrace, his tight grip warding off all the bad feelings in the world.
“Oh… right. Guess I forgot.” She mumbled, turning to leave when the long haired boy’s hand clapped around her wrist, effectively stopping her.
“Hey… are you okay?” (Y/n) made to tell him that she was fine and not to worry about it, but her words got caught in her throat, leaving her to only be able to shake her head quickly before tears started falling down her face, a concerned Sirius pulling her into a hug, in hopes of calming her down. “Woah… what’s wrong?” (Y/n) just clung tighter to her friend, Not wanting him to know that the reason she was crying was because she couldn’t spend the night with Remus. He’d probably think she was clingy and annoying. She wasn’t trying to be. She just had a bad day and really wanted Remus right now.
“What’s going on in here?” Speak of the Devil and he shall appear. (Y/n) perked up as Remus’s voice entered the room, pulling away from Sirius and switching to jump into her boyfriend’s arms, his calming presence already making her feel a bit better.
“I don’t know. She just started crying. She wouldn’t tell me why.” Sirius answered after realizing that (Y/n) wouldn’t be answering him. Remus wrapped his strong arms around the girl, thanking his friend before Sirius’s footsteps echoed out of the room and Remus and (Y/n) were left alone.
“Love, what’s wrong?” Remus’s soft voice whispered in her ear. She shook her head with her face hidden in his chest.
“I don’t want you to go!” She said. His grip tightened.
“I know you don’t, darling. But you know I have to, right?” No answer. “(Y/n), I have to go. To keep you and everyone else safe. You know that, right?” She pulled away to look at his face.
“It’s not fair.” Remus sighed.
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be, darling.” (Y/n) tucked her face back into the soft material of his shirt. She felt bad. Remus surely was feeling way worse about all this than she was. It wasn’t fair for the girl to make everything all about her when he was hurting.
“I’m sorry…you wanna cuddle until you have to leave?” She asked, looking up at him hopefully. Remus smiled.
“C’mere.” He pulled her along with him towards his bed, and when he climbed in, she wasted no time following, resting her head delicately on his shoulder, her face pressed into his neck as his arms wrapped around her back. (Y/n) couldn’t help the tears that slowly began trickling from her eyes the minute his hand started running up and down her spine. It wasn’t fair. He was in pain that was going to continue for the rest of his life, but all Remus seemed to care about was making sure she was okay.
He held his gaze straight forward, not wanting to see her tearful eyes. He needed to stay strong if he wanted her to believe he was going to be okay tonight, and he knew looking at her, so frightened for him, would put him over the edge.
“My pretty girl… get some sleep. I’ll be back before you know it.” He promised, kissing the top of her head as a single tear trailed down his face.

“Until I Have To Go”
Remus Lupin x Reader
Christmas Eve of the 12 Days til Christmas Special!!!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Requested? No
Summary: Remus wishes things could be different when his time of the month rolls around on Christmas Eve…
Warnings: starred out swear words, sad Remus, sad you, sad everybody 🥺😂
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
“I’m the worst boyfriend in the world.” Remus exclaimed from where he lay across the couch, the love of his life standing over him with a frown. This was the first Full Moon Christmas since they’d started living together, and Remus had never felt worse. Physically, and emotionally, he had been dreading this day immensely since Sirius had first pointed out the unfortunate overlapping of events.
Now, of course, (Y/n) went on and on about how she wasn’t upset that they couldn’t spend Christmas Eve together like they usually would. She was adamant that she would just spend the evening with Lily and see him the next morning, and it would all be okay, but that didn’t stop Remus from feeling absolutely awful about it.
“Rem, that’s not true.” She said, but the werewolf just shook his head.
“Yes it is. I’ve ruined Christmas.” He pouted, causing (Y/n) to roll her eyes at his dramatics.
“You haven’t ruined Christmas.” She argued, but he wasn’t changing his mind.
“Have to.” He mumbled, pulling the blanket, he had been snuggled into, over his head in shame.
“It’s not even Christmas yet. How can you have ruined a holiday before it’s arrival?” (Y/n) asked her boyfriend, pulling the cover from his tight grip, and revealing his cute, but sad, face.
“That’s how terrible of a boyfriend I am.” He explained. He had real tears in his eyes, and (Y/n) felt terrible. She knew his curse bothered him on the best of days, but she’d never seen him this bent out of shape about it. He looked so upset.
“Remus…” The girl said, sitting on the couch beside him, and running her hand up and down his arm soothingly.
“I’m sorry. I’m sure my whining isn’t making it any better.” He apologized, and (Y/n) quickly shook her head.
“No… no, Rem. it’s fine, really…” She kept moving her hand across him, feeling his tensed shoulders relaxing at the motion. “Does it hurt much?” She asked, moving her hand to his hair, and twisting it through her fingers in a way she hoped was soothing. She knew he usually felt like sh*t the days leading up to a full moon.
“Not when you run your fingers through my hair like that…” He mumbled, his eyes closed in contentment. (Y/n) smiled down at him. Merlin, he was so perfect…
“I love you. You know that?” She asked, watching as a single tear trickled down his face, a vast contrast to the little smile growing on his lips.
“I love you more.” His grin dropped a little at his next words. “I’m sorry I have to leave you.” But (Y/n) just shrugged.
“It’s just one night-“ But he cut her off.
“No. I mean every time. You deserve so much better than me.” She shook her head, a frown of her own now gracing her features.
“There’s not a soul in the world better than you.” She said. And she meant it, too. Remus Lupin was like a single beam of sunlight in a world of grey.
“Well… you’re biased.” He fired back, half-heartedly, causing (Y/n) to laugh.
“D*mn right I am.” They were quiet for a moment after that, each taking in their significant other in front of them, until Remus broke the silence with an hopeful grin and a question.
“Can you cuddle with me until the boys show up, and I have to go.” He asked, sniffling a little. (Y/n)’s heart broke at the sound, and she nodded almost immediately.
“Of course.”
+ + +
She hated to admit it, but (Y/n) shed a few tears of her own, as she lay across the couch with Remus cuddled against her. She hated the lot in life he was given; the cards he was dealt. Remus Lupin deserved the world, and he got stuck with this curse. It wasn’t fair.
“I wish I could spend the rest of my life right here, wrapped up with you.” He whispered, adjusting his grip slightly to hold onto her tighter. (Y/n) held back her tears as his voice broke on his words. He got so scared, every single time. And there was nothing she could do about it.
“Me too.” She managed to get out, before another silence broke through the living room.
(Y/n) knew they were going to run out of time soon. The boys would be here any minute, and she really didn’t want to let him go. But, she knew she had to. There was no other way…
“Merry Christmas, Remus.” She whispered, more tears falling from her face, as she felt him crying to, a wet spot growing on her shirt where his head lay.
“Merry Christmas, Darling.”

“Dear Theodosia” - Remus Lupin (Marauders Era)

"You guys are idiots." Remus complained as he leaned up against the train window with a book, Theodosia mirroring his actions on the other seat with Biscuit on her lap and Peter next to her. Sirius had left the compartment a few moments ago in search of the trolley lady, having no patience to wait like everyone else, so James was Remus's only seat companion for the time being. That didn't, however, mean the compartment was any less chaotic than usual.
"I've been telling you that for years." Theodosia commented, barely looking up from her book as she spoke. Remus looked at the girl fondly for a moment before James broke the silence once again.
"I can't believe you let that demon in here." He grumbled earning an eye roll from pretty much everyone. James had some kind of weird vendetta against Theodosia's cat that none of them truly understood, but it had gotten old a long time ago.
"It's a cat, James." Peter commented.
"He." Theodosia corrected.
"It's not going to hurt you." He continued.
"He." She once again corrected.
"That thing is the spawn of Satan." James argued. Theodosia groaned, slamming her book closed suddenly and causing everyone to turn at her in surprise.
"He's a cat, James! A cat. Despite whatever feelings you have to the contrary." Her sudden angry outburst caused James's mouth to shut tight and Peter to jump from his seat and scramble to the other side of the compartment.
"You made Dosia mad. I don't wanna sit over there anymore." Peter commented, making Remus scoff and close his own book, moving to plop down onto the now empty seat next to the girl, knowing she could do no harm even if she wanted to. She was all bark and no bite.
"You okay?" He leaned over to whisper, but James opened his big mouth before she could reply.
"Down, darling." James said, borderline condescendingly, getting the stink eye in response. Before anyone could say anything else, the compartment door opened noisily as Sirius returned, arms full of sweets.
"So what did I miss?" He asked, making himself comfortable in the spot Remus had just vacated.
"James made Theodosia mad." Peter answered, earning himself another eye roll.
"I'm not mad. I'm just annoyed at James. Which is entirely his fault, seeing as how he is the one being annoying." She commented making Remus laugh.
"She's got you there, mate."
Theodosia's eyes returned to the book in front of her, though it was obvious that she couldn't concentrate anymore. Remus wondered what she was thinking about...

Theodosia glared at her homework question, some tiny part of her brain hoping that if she looked hard enough, it would do itself. But, alas, the line along with her brain remained blank as she stated at the parchment.
'Perhaps you'll find the answer in another book...' it didn't hurt to try.
Before she could move to stand up, however, a tall shadow fell over her, and she looked up to meet eyes with Remus Lupin, smiling shyly down at her.
"Oh hello Remus," the brunette smiled, slightly startled at his sudden appearance. Especially considering that she had a fat crush on him and probably looked like a wreck after running her fingers through her hair countless times since she began the assignment.
Remus cleared his throat awkwardly before gesturing towards the stack of books in front of her.
"What are you working on?" He asked, awkwardly. Theodosia smiled. He had no idea how cute he was.
"That essay for History of Magic. It's not due for a few weeks, but I expect we'll be receiving something big from Slughorn soon so I thought I'd get it out of the way." Remus's nodded though it was obvious he wasn't paying attention to what she was saying. "Did you need something?" She asked, hoping that it didn't come off as rude. Remus blushed, making it apparent that he hadn't thought he'd get this far. Theodosia grinned a little in amusement before getting an idea. "Actually, Remus, I could use your help. If you're willing?" The taller boy nodded earnestly, and that's how the two of them found themselves sitting across from each other in the library, Theodosia's essay along with a dozen or so text books between them. That was the start of her friendship with the boy, and by extension her friendship with the rest of the Marauders.

"You know Remus, this is all your fault." Theodosia commented simply, not sparing him a glance. She'd been lost in thought for the last couple minutes, wondering how in Merlin's name she'd ended up with the world's most obnoxious friends, when she came to that realization.
"What do you mean? What did I do?" Remus asked, causing Sirius to snicker at him and the girl to finally look up to see that his eyes were wide with shock.
"It's your fault I'm friends with these idiots." She explained, trying desperately to calm the blush trying to rise as she thought about how cute Remus looked confused. She suddenly turned to the smallest boy in the compartment, arguably her best friend in the group.
"Except you, Peter. You're not an idiot. Well... not that I know of." She glared at him, the happy smile that had spread across his face from the compliment dropping into worry towards the end. "Just don't call me "Dosia" again." She threatened, playfully.
"Well, I'm personally offended." Sirius said, earning her attention and an eye roll.
"You'll get over it." She responded simply, making him pout, the rest of the boys chuckling at him. Before another conversation could be started up, most likely about Quidditch or their big "Back to School" prank, Roxie Potter's familiar head of dark hair poked into the compartment door.
"Theodosia, would you like to come with us to get dressed? We'll be arriving soon." The other girl nodded and quickly started collecting her uniform, handing Remus Biscuit as she she did. The orange cat curled up on the boys lap almost immediately, apparently content with his new chair.
"Roxie! Dosia is being mean to me!" Sirius complained dramatically as she headed for the door. The Potter girl just gave him a look.
"Good job, Dosia. Bye, Sirius." They could hear the long haired boy whining about the conversation as Theodosia shut the door behind her, making to follow after Roxie.
"You know I hate that nickname..." Theodosia grumbled a little causing the other girl to laugh.
"You're fine. Besides, you know you'd love it if it came out of Remus's mouth." Theodosia turned red. "That's what I thought." They entered the compartment with Lily, Marlene, and Dorcas already waiting for them.
"Let's just get dressed." The embarrassed girl tried changing the subject, earning another chuckle from the Potter girl.
"You're hopeless, Theodosia."

Theodosia smoothed down the front of her skirt as she wandered through the mass of students saying goodbye to their families on the platform. She'd said her goodbyes at the car, seeing as how her mother and father had to drop Ted back off at his house before work, but she didn't mind. She figured Ted would just embarrass her in front of her friends anyhow. Speaking of friends...
"Dosia!" The girl rolled her eyes a little at the nickname, but couldn't hide the wide grin that spread across her face as she turned to see Sirius Black barreling towards her excitedly.
"I thought I told you to stop calling me that." She said as he pulled her into a friendly hug.
"And I thought I told you that's it was never going to happen." He responded earning an annoyed sigh from the shorter girl. Sometimes she wondered why she hung out with him.
"Have you found anyone else yet?" She asked as he started directing her through the crowd and towards a destination she was unaware of.
"Yeah, Remus and Peter are over here. We're just waiting on James and Roxie." Theodosia nodded, her eyes trailing over the familiar faces as they walked, finally stopping in front of a slightly taller Remus Lupin, and a just as nerdy Peter Pettigrew.
"Pete! Rem!" She said excitedly, pulling them into a group hug. The two boys laughed at her enthusiasm.
"Dosia!" Peter cried out, earning the stink-eye from the girl as she pulled away.
"Sirius corrupted you too? You used to be my favorite." She said sadly earning a terrified look from Peter and chuckles from the other two.
"She's just messing with you, Pete." Remus said, causing Peter to let out a relieved sigh.
"Yeah, everyone knows Remus is Dosia's favorite." Her cheeks turned pink.
"Don't you have something better to do?" She asked, annoyance clear in her tone to hide the obvious blush she was sporting.
"As a matter of fact, I do. Remus, if you will accompany me, I'm off to find my girl." Sirius said, referencing to Roxie Potter, one of Theodosia dorm mates and practically the only girl she hung out with. Sirius grinned cheekily. The three of them looked at him weird.
"You do know she's not really your-" Remus began, but Sirius's grubby hand over his mouth stopped him.
"Just let me have this one." Theodosia and Peter laughed before they all noticed a familiar pair of twins headed their direction.
"What the he*l took you so long?" Remus said in a playfully annoyed tone, as James and Roxie appeared out of the crowd.
"Someone forgot his shoes this morning," Roxie answered with crossed arms. Theodosia laughed at that, but James seemed mildly offended. As he made to reply, a voice from behind them cut him off.
"Roxie!" Marlene, another one of Theodosia and Roxie's dorm mates, screamed out excitedly as she tackled her in a hug.
"Hey Marley," Roxie said, as Lily and Dorcas, the rest of the dorm mates, joined the group.
"Hi-" James waved at Lily with a stupid lovey expression. Lily wasn't having it and looped her arm through his sisters.
"Come on," the red haired girl said, pulling Roxie away from the guys. "We have something to tell you. Theodosia, you coming?" She shook her head lightly. While she liked the girls just fine, her best friends were the four guys she was surrounded by. Besides, who would there be to stop them from doing something stupid if she left them alone?
"I think I'll stay with the guys," she responded, peeking up at Remus before ducking her head awkwardly. There was another reason she'd rather stay with her boys. Remus would be there. She blushed a little again at the thought.
Lily simply shrugged and smiled her farewell at the girl, before pulling Roxie off to find a compartment, Marlene and Dorcas in tow.
"You picked us over the gossip chain? Don't we feel honored." Sirius held his hand over his heart dramatically causing Theodosia to roll her eyes.
"I'm immediately regretting my decision." She commented, earning a chuckle from Remus, but gasps of offense from the other three.
"You cruel cruel woman." James complained, wiping a fake tear as Peter patted him on the back comfortingly.
"Maybe we don't want you to hang out with us anyway." Sirius commented, making Theodosia frown.
"Speak for yourself. I for one don't think I can handle being alone with these knuckleheads for a whole train ride." Remus said, joining the conversation. The smaller girl smiled a little. "C'mon, Theodosia. Let's go before the train leaves without us." Remus put his arm around the girl and started her towards the train.
"Hold on!"
"We were kidding!"
"Wait for us!"

"Come on, you're going to be late!" Theodosia groaned in annoyance, ducking her head under her pillow as she heard her brother's loud footsteps coming up the stairs.
"Go away, Ted. It's too early! Why are you even here? You moved out, leave me alone!" She complained over her shoulder when she heard the door open.
"I wasn't gonna miss your first day of fifth year. This is a monumentous occasion. Now, come on, Smarty. Time to get up. Don't you wanna see Remus?" He asked teasingly. Theodosia rolled over and glared at him.
"I should have never told you about that." She complained, sitting up and attempting to tame her bed head. Ted just laughed.
"My baby sister has a crush. It's cute that you confided in me." He said simply. The smaller girl blushed profusely.
"I don't like him like that. Now go away. I need to hurry, remember?" Ted rolled his eyes, not believing her for a second, but nodded, moving to exit the room, shutting the door behind him as he left his little sister to get dressed and ready for her first day of her fifth year at Hogwarts.
Theodosia huffed in annoyance as she climbed out of her bed and stumbled to the bathroom. Ted could be obnoxious sometimes, but she loved him anyway. Even with the wide age gap between them, they were as close as siblings could be, even of he didn't live at home anymore. And, though she'd never admit it out loud to him for fear of inflating his already humongous ego, Ted meant the world to Theodosia.
"Merlin, I'm gonna be late for the train." The Tonks family lived in a little townhouse in London, not far from Kings Cross Station, which was good, since the train to Hogwarts was leaving in less than an hour and Theodosia still had to pack.
She could practically hear the guys making fun of her for it, even though they probably waited until the last minute too. Sirius, James, and Peter were like that. Not Remus though. No, if she had to guess, Theodosia would wager he'd been packed since August. He was good like that. It was one of the things she liked about him.
Her cheeks flared up again at the thought of the dusty haired boy whose friend group she'd been inducted in a few years ago. She hadn't seen him all summer, or any of her friends for that matter, so Theodosia was very excited to meet up with them at the platform.
"Theodosia, let's go!" She ran a brush through her hair aggressively, before throwing it and a couple other things into her trunk.
"Okay, that's: books, clothes, uniform, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, that thing I borrowed from Sirius last year that I never gave back, Biscuit's stuffed mouse..." Theodosia made a mental checklist before gasping in realization of what she'd forgotten.
"Biscuit! Where are you?" She checked under her bed, in her closet, heck, even in her trunk, but her cute little orange cat was nowhere to be found.
"Looking for something?" Theodosia turned on her heels quickly at the sudden noise and saw her brother standing in the doorway. A medium sized ball of orange fluff in his arms.
"Biscuit! There you are!" She grabbed the small creature from her brother who moved around her to take her heavy trunk downstairs.
"He was ready before you were. Just waiting by the door." Theodosia rolled her eyes, but didn't comment as she followed her brother down the stairs and out the front door, their parents already waiting for them in the car. "Biscuits crate's in the backseat with you." Ted directed, pointing his sister towards the car door. She nodded, climbing in the back and situating her cat.
"Everybody ready?" Her father asked from the front when Ted had hopped in on the other side. Both nodded and they were off, headed to drop Theodosia off at the train station, to board the Hogwarts Express.
