I forgot to take most of the process pictures of the pants. Oops. Fairly standard with inseam pockets and a elastic back (I know it's not period but the kid's still growing).
Started with this burgundy linen blend that Joanns claims is purple. Cut to capri length with pockets. Screwed up the first pair because I drafted and cut them on the wrong grain and misremembered how much of my junk in the trunk the kid inherited. So I had to go back to the store for more.
Second time was much more successful. Stiffened the front waist with leftover duck from the stays and ran elastic through the back and hems.
And I'm done with their costume. Now to sort mine.
[image description: two photos of me, a person with short black hair, light skin, and blue eyes. in both photos i am wearing a deep blue shirt and black pants and belt, paired with a silver and blue dragon necklace, sparkly blue wings, horns, and wrist brace covers, and blue gem-like markings on my forehead and cheeks. the first photo is close-up photo of me smiling, taken indoors. the second is from more of a distance, showing me grinning outdoors in front of a tall rock structure. end description.]
i had a lot of fun at my first renn faire recently! hopefully someday i can get an outfit with armor, but i did enjoy wearing this dragon costume! i painted the horns myself.
I feel like a princess ready for a day of frolicking in this draped fantasy chainmail belt. The golden half Persian sheet is perfect for adding a shine to your long dresses and skirts.

The elder child and I are going to the Maryland Renaissance Festival and they want to be a pirate, but gender not confirming, and wealthy.
So, being a good reasonable mother I got to work.
Found a white dotted cotton lawn at the store. It's sheer af, and the slubs are pretty regular.
Going mostly off Morgan Donner's excellent tutorial, I cut into several rectangles. 2- 4 inch strips for gussets, cuffs, and collar. 1-half their bust measurement+2 inches for the body. 1-their bicep measurement+4 inches, cut in half, for the sleeves.
The neck gussets are 4 inch squares, folded in half. I sewed these into the t shaped neck slit I cut in the body piece. (This was probably too big but I made it work.)
I also used a small strip (maybe an inch wide total) to face the neck slit. Next, I attached the sleeves to the shoulders. The niblet didn't want puffy so no gathering. I attached another 4 inch square gusset into the armpit for mobility, and sewed the sleeve and side closed, leaving a 8ish inch opening at the bottom for hips.
Next, attached the collar and cuffs, both were a pair of 4 inch wide rectangles sewed together and flipped.
