Here’s my first go at something I’ve always wanted to try doing, custom painting a dinosaur figure! This is the CollectA Kosmoceratops, a toy with a pretty decent sculpt but in my opinion a pretty garbage paint job:
I did like the red horns? But the rest of it is pretty bland and ugly looking.
So, I gave it some new paint! Dug out my model paints and tiny brushes and just went to town, I didn’t really have a specific plan but I love how it came out! I think it feels very Me.
A lot of it was layers of paint and washes and drybrushing, but what really pulled it all together was spraying a satin clearcoat over it. That really gave it a nice shine that looked a lot like light reflecting off tough scales.
And then I gave it a full on Backyard Photoshoot, really trying to channel a Nature Photography vibe and that was a fun time.
So yeah, repainting! It slaps and I will be doing more of it for sure.
I wouldn't rank Alice in Wonderland on my top lists of things, but the 70th anniversary has brought out a lot of fanfare and content that I can appreciate, and I'm contributing with my own things. Of course I'm very happy Disney Store brought a play line Alice doll that allowed me to go a bit hogwild for characters rarely seen, and I do attribute Disney Store's offerings for making me more inspired to do Disney customs. And having my out of scale Queen of Hearts doll has been fun too. #queenofhearts #queenofheartsdoll #aliceinwonderlanddoll #aliceinwonderland #disneydolls #disneydoll #repaint https://www.instagram.com/p/CUPHlyYBPZU/?utm_medium=tumblr
She’s a disney store Snow White head on a DC Superhero Girls body, with the lower legs swapped out.
She was a ton of fun to do, usually when I do repaint I go for very natural colors, so it was fun to incorporate more oranges/pinks for her make up. I’m very happy with her. tho I still need to gel her hair.
