Working on an enclosure upgrade for my crested gecko Mars! He’s in his new 40 gallon walking around and exploring his new enclosure. It’s a little more empty than I’d like, but I’m going to be filling it out a lot more when I set it up as a bioactive enclosure, just have to wait for all the supplies get in.
Lovely crested sticker from @starrypaige 🦎💙

Live feeding channels and "animal fight/battle" channels: why they are not educational content and why they are 'animal abuse porn'. ( 3B TEAMS, You can see pk7, Animal Vs Life, and U can see TV168)
From the title of this post you may already know what I may be referring to but for those who don't here is a TLDR:
There is a bizarre subset of channels on youtube that ONLY post either live feeding videos, or things deemed 'animal battle' or fight type videos. Most of these channels are very graphic and usually contain animals captured from the surrounding area or purchased at pet stores. A majority of these channels are based in Asia and seem to all be owned by the same person or group of people (more on that later).
So what is the problem here exactly?
These channels are masquerading themselves as 'educational content' and readily making animal abuse content more accessible, as well as using (and killing) some endangered animals in their videos. They also tend to spread misinformation as to what reptiles actually eat, how the food chain works, and how the animals featured in their videos behave.
ANIMAL POACHING
Probably one of the biggest issues I have with these channels (despite the actual content itself) is how the animals are sourced in their videos. Many, if not all, of these channels, use exotic animals native to Asia (most frequently Tokay Geckos, Scolopendra subspinipes, chicks presumably sourced from local farms, and large tarantulas) and are animals that were most likely poached for use in these videos. And since ALL of the channels I listed above are based in Thailand I cross-referenced native species found in the country with the animals in the videos and... it matched
Tokay geckos: native to Thailand
Scolopendra subspinipes: native to Thailand
Thai Black tarantula (the spider I believe being used in many of these videos): native to Thailand
Black Scorpion: also found native in Thailand.
Chinese Edible Frog (the frog I believe they are using): native to Thailand.
There are many more examples but these are the ones that pop up the most. It is quite clear that the animals used in these videos were taken from the wild. And since Tokay geckos, a very commonly poached animal, are featured across ALL of these channels it is safe to say that the owner of these channels either goes out and catches these animals himself or pays someone to bring him them. Regardless of the exact logistics of the poaching, the channel runner is still funding the illegal wildlife trade and profiting off of it directly via his videos.
ALL OF THESE CHANNELS MENTIONED ARE OWNED BY THE SAME PERSON.
This conclusion was a bit harder to come to but there is evidence to back it up.
Across all of the titled channels when you go back far enough you start to see more random vlog style videos interspersed with videos that had titles in Khmer (a language spoken in Cambodia). khmer is also an ethnic group in Cambodia so we can assume that the man running this channel is part of this group (since he has posted many videos relating to specific cultural ceremonies) and we can also rightfully assume he lives somewhere near the Thai and Cambodian border since he is tagged as living in Thailand, but also posts videos relating to Cambodia. Either that or he has immigrated from one country to the other.
Along with this, many of these channels are connected via subscriptions. 3B TEAMS is publically subscribed to Animal Vs Life (a channel that contains this video of a man showing how to change the language settings on a phone.) The voice in the linked video is also the same voice that narrates THIS video found on "You can see TV168" whose channel is also subscribed to "You can see PK7" where THIS video is publically available.
And the most damning evidence this man shows his face TWICE across his multiple channels
Tumblr media
This is our suspect. This screenshot was taken from "You can see PK7" which is directly connected to U can see TV168
Tumblr media
And THIS screenshot was taken from Animals Vs Life (I had to crop it cause his kid was visible in the background) which is directly connected to 3B TEAMS
On top of this already damning evidence most of the backgrounds across the channels used for the "animal fight videos" are the same. It's the same setup, sometimes in front of the same wall, with the same injured animals.
I also have reason to believe that the channel operator's name is " Michael Lee" since there is a commenter by that name who usually defends content uploaded by the channel "U can see TV168". Most of the other channels have their comments turned off so I cannot tell if he used to do it in those comment sections or not. But the account itself looks like a sockpuppet since it responds on behalf of the channel and they both make the same spelling/grammatical errors.
He (being this shithead) lives somewhere either in Thailand or Cambodia. I have narrowed down his location to somewhere near the border of the two countries but have not gotten any more specifics other than that. For those who can provide me with more info in that regard... we can work something out.
THESE VIDEOS OUT RIGHT LIE TO YOU
These channels supposedly operate under the guise of being "educational" which is why I think they have been up for so long. But none of the videos actually contain educational material.
In the titles of the videos, alone many of the animals are either mislabeled or called "Godzilla" in place of their actual scientific/common names. Like for example the "Chinese Edible Frog" shown in the most of the thumbnails is referred to as "BULLFROG" or "GIANT BULLFROG", the "Tokay geckos" used are referred to as "gecko" or just as "lizard", and the tarantula featured in the video is referred to a huntsman (which are found in Thailand but have a different body shape and size). For a channel trying to "educate about nature" this is a pretty big error to make.
Secondly most of these "fight videos" do not showcase scenarios that would actually happen in nature. For example, a bearded dragon (Australian animal) and a Chinese Edible Frog would never have a real-life confrontation in the wild because are found in completely different areas of the world. A tokay gecko would probably not have a confrontation with one either since Tokays are arboreal geckos, they don't chill on the ground long enough for that to happen. And sticking chicks in the same enclosure with a scorpion and forcing them to fight is also not a natural scenario.
None of these videos go into any detail on the animals featured in the. Like you don't learn where their native habitats are, what their ACTUAL diets are, what their husbandry is, or even what their names are. Most of the videos don't even feature any talking, just stock battle music. The fact that I had to look up this shit based on my own observations really says something about the channels and their actual educational viability. They don't have any. I own some of the animals featured in these vids. You dont learn jack shit from them.
CATERING TO ZOOSADISTS
My last, and probably most disturbing point, is that these channels are not meant to be educational (like I said above). They are meant to provide content for Zoosadists and people who get off to animal abuse. This is very concerning to me since this man has kids, presumably several, who he may be abusing off camera if this is the case.
As I said before most of the comments on these channels are turned off, but "U can see TV168" for whatever reason left comments on and the shit I am reading is just... disturbing.
Tumblr media
Just a few of the comments on some of the videos. There are more, I just stopped reading them after a certain point because it creeped me out.
It's clear he is catering content to people who get off on animal abuse. That is probably why there is just an abrupt switch in videos. And from the frequency of these uploads, I would say he is probably part of that crowd.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP
In past posts, I have left links to international organizations that help prosecute animal abuse cases. Lollypop.org, The ASPCA, and The Humane Society International all have resources to help bring this man to justice. I would also recommend contacting INTERPOL since they also work with local authorities.
This man was dumb enough to actually post his face and drop hints about his location. So if you live in Thailand/Cambodia, have seen this man before, and are as fairly disturbed by his content as I am PLEASE REPORT HIM TO THE COPS (since he is abusing animals ON CAMERA and is possibly poaching them) OR SEND US INFO IN THE COMMENTS/DMS SO WE CAN BRING HIM TO JUSTICE.
None of this is normal nor should it be promoted.

In other news our two baby sand boa girls are growing like crazy. We recently upgraded their food size. These two are perfect angels and amazing eaters. In a few years they will be producing wonderful babies of their own.

Ofeefee has been MIA for a few weeks before popping up tonight at his door, wanting out. Even though he still ate during that time, I figured he was in shed and left him to it. After he came out tonight, I went hunting for his shed. The only bit I found? A small section comprised mostly of belly scutes. Yay, bugs!

I never did post pictures of Mesa’s hanging hide, so here they are.
The 12 inch height of his enclosure doesn’t really allow for much, but I tried!
I am debating between the Exoterra 36x18 and the Zoomed 25 gallon front opening for him. I love Varya’s Exoterra, but the Zoomed would fit where Mesa’s enclosure sits now, and I wouldn’t have to buy a new stand, etc, plus he’d have more height.
Really leaning toward the latter, as I don’t think lengthwise he’d get to 36 in, anyway, but if he ever did look cramped, I could move Haloke to that one and get him a bigger tank. Hmmm
