You narrowed your eyes as you saw the vase slightly further to the right, moving it a couple of centimeters so that it was exactly in the right spot, in the same place you put it every day after doing a big cleaning of the house.

You sat on the neat couch, scanning the living room for anything still missing out of place, smiling at your good work, although the smile soon disappeared when a slight back pain broke your good mood bubble, the pain had intensified lately since Shanks had some meetings in his personal study, so you did your best to make everything as organized and clean as usual.

It was a bit sad since he spent many hours busy, although he always made up for it on the weekends when he had his days off, however the company had to resolve some issues regarding some clients and employees, collections, payroll, settlements… there were always months filled with a lot of work and you both ended up so exhausted that you didn't even have a single moment to talk for days.

Today seemed like it was going to be one of those days where you were waiting with a glass of wine, eating dinner alone in the kitchen, you knew that if Shanks hadn't arrived by a certain time, you shouldn't make dinner for two, and you were about to get to cook, you only managed to cut a couple of onions when you screamed when you felt a strong arm lift you slightly from the ground, your shock faded when you felt the redhead's presence.

"I thought you wouldn't come today."

"Surprise!"

He joined his lips with yours sweetly, when he put you back on the ground, he left for a second to return with a small bouquet of roses and a wrapped box, you frowned strangely at the detail, Shanks was not a person who usually did gifts like that, yes, he would buy you things, but he would just arrive and give it to you unwrapped or he would just ask you if you want that thing directly.

"What is this? Oh don't tell me I forgot about our anniversary or-"

Your worried tone and nervousness for having forgotten some important date was cut by the man's lips, who left a trail of short kisses all over your face, making you laugh like a fool in love, he smiled at this.

"No, I'm the most likely to forget that kind of thing love, it's just a gift! Can't I spoil you a little? I know how much it costs to maintain a home, plus your sore muscles..."

He took your hands in his, rubbing circles with his thumb on your knuckles, you melted under his touch, pulling him to your body to sink into a comfortable embrace, you breathed in his scent slowly, burying your face in his shoulder, he let you hold the position. As long as you needed, Shanks didn't care if you spent hours hugging him, he would enjoy every second of contact. You pulled away a couple of minutes later, turning your attention now to the box he had left on the kitchen counter earlier next to the roses, curious about its contents, he urged you to open it, even he seeming more excited than you by the gift.

"Oh… how did you know this was what I wanted? I don't remember telling you about it yet."

Although both you and Shanks used to share certain things that you needed or would like to have for possible birthday, anniversary or Christmas gifts… you still hadn't had the opportunity to tell him that this was what you were thinking of buying as a self-gift for your next birthday.

"A husband's intuition never fails, and look, there are more things!"

Looking at the bottom of the box you pulled out two stiff papers that seemed to be hidden, a silly smile decorating your lips as you read them.

"Spa and massage session for two?"

He raised and lowered his eyebrows with a mischievous smile, you laughed, hitting his shoulder, hugging him again as a way of thanking him, you felt a little bad for not having a gift for him right now, since you weren't the only one who needed a break from time to time from work, but you made a mental note to look for something that he might like.

All right... I have thoughts, they're a little scattered, so please bare with me lol

First off, I subscribe heavily to the idea that 'Cody' is actually 'Kote', and it just became Cody overtime because that's what non-clones were hearing and repeating.

As far as how he got it... Man has been absolutely fearless from the moment he gained consciousness. 'Challenge Accepted' is pretty much his default personality trait. He earned the moniker 'glory' with every fiber of his being.

This is also why he got assigned to Obi-Wan, their crazy balances each other out.

With Rex... I haven't put a whole lot of thought on how he got his name. But I did find this option absolutely hilarious.

But, where Cody was fearless growing up, ready and willing to run head first in to anything regardless of the consequences (you know... like yeeting yourself at Grievous and just hoping for the best (no, we are never letting him live that down)); I see Rex being a lot more like Echo in the beginning. Or even Dogma

(which I'm pretty sure he compared himself to, yes?)

Man knows his regulations backwards and forwards, and it took him a long time to get comfortable working around the rules instead of just adhering to them to the letter.

(Working under Anakin was a bit of a baptism by fire, but he survived and came out the other side.)

So...

I've been thinking that I want to write spiderverse content in English on this account. Although it is multifandom, I am very in love with that universe and I want to write some things. I already have some other stuff written on my Wattpad but they are in Spanish, I leave a link anyway in case someone reads Spanish.

Anyway, I'll be honest. I'm trying to get back to a lot of things in my life in 2024 and there are going to be days when I don't update, but writing stories is a part of me that I tend to leave aside the most and I want that to change... For writing in general, it relaxes me and does me very good and I know that I improve with practice.

Alejandro, Rodolfo and Graves with an S/O with Three Cats

Alejandro: He gives off quite some canine energy, so there’s a chance your cats won’t like him too much. That, of course, you can try to combat by having him feed them. Either way, if they like Alejandro, then you can expect him to be all over your cats, always talking to them, petting them, picking them up, kissing them and what else it is you do with a cat. He loves your little kitties and would kill someone for them. Although he’s more of a dog person himself, he doesn’t prefer dogs by much, so he can really go either way. When he sees just how cuddly your cats are and when they take a nap on his chest while he’s watching TV with you or something, he will not hesitate to pet the cat, scratch the little fella behind its ears and try his best to make them purr. He loves the sound and the vibration, it brings good vibes and makes him just as content as the cat. The rule that one must not move when a cat is sleeping on top of them holds true for him. If he needs to use the bathroom while one of your cats is sleeping on him then he’ll just have to endure until it wakes up. But if he’s content as well, then he might just cuddle the cat, or your cats even, and take a nap himself. While he’s not usually one for napping, he will when he genuinely can’t move because of your lovely little felines. If your cats let him, he will give them big hugs as well. Is so smitten, he’ll buy them some toys and play with them, if he has the time. And if your cats are too lazy to actually play, then he’ll pick them up and lovingly scold them for being so unmotivated. Meows back at cats too.

Rodolfo: He gets along well with just about any animal. While he’s not scared of them per se, he does have a healthy amount of respect for them and won’t just walk up to your cats to give them pats and kisses and hugs. He will comply if your cats walk up to him because they’re curious, but he really doesn’t want to annoy them or worse, end up with him getting scratched. While he may not meow back at your cats either, he will talk to them as though they’re regular human beings. It’s somewhat funny, he takes them seriously and will, in a deadpan tone, tell them that there will be no more snacky treats for the evening. No matter how annoying your cats might get, he won’t budge. His decision is final, so there are no more snacky treats. He quite likes the thing where if you scratch a cat’s butt, it will move it upwards. Loves doing that to your cats, it’s funny and endearing to him. When your cats are sleeping on top of him, then he won’t particularly budge either. He’ll pat them, but he will also move them if he really needs to use the bathroom. No privileges for your cats this time. However, considering he is, more often than not, pretty tired, he will pretty much always take a nap with your cats if he can. The pressure on his chest is comforting to him, plus he gets to feel something nicely warm and furry on top of him as well. However, he sometimes moves in his sleep, which might wake up your cats, which might wake up him. It’s a never ending circle, but if he can, he’ll just sleep with your cats in his arms. Take a picture of him like that and he’ll try to take embarrassing pictures of you as well with your cats.

Graves: He is definitely more of a dog person, since those are strong and reliable. A cat will meow at you in the dead of the night because it knocked over its water bowl and can’t turn on the faucet on its own. Honestly? He always has something to complain about. Your cat pooped again. It knocked over the food bowl. It farted in his face. Things like that. He means them, but the way he says those things is sort of just funny. Imagine a 40 year old man having beef with a cat. He has very little shame when it comes to scolding your cats. At first, he will use his human words to get them to listen. But as soon as he realizes they believe it’s snuggle time, he will meow at them, making the situation even worse. However, every time you hand him one of your cats, he will take it from your arms and cuddle it a bit. Every time one of the critters walks up to him, demanding attention, he will pick it up and carry it around a bit. Sometimes in his arms, sometimes he just slings the cat over his shoulder and keeps it there. It’s sort of funny, he might pretend to really hate them, but he would never yell at them, only be stern and tell them to not be so gluttonous. When your cats are sleeping on top of him, he does not move an inch. He would never admit it, but they are your shared furry babies and he, like any American, would shoot anyone who ever tried to hurt you or them. Takes naps too when he can, or when nothing of interest is on TV, but he prefers getting to hold something instead of having your cats lie on top of you. You can take pictures of him to show him that he really doesn’t hate your cats as much as he pretends to, but he will always claim you photoshopped it, despite knowing fully well that happened.

Shoveling

Joel had moved to Jackson in the winter, arriving in this safe bubble wearing a thick brown coat and nothing with him besides the girl he used to call his cargo.

When he moved in next to you, he found a young, vulnerable woman who lived alone, in a small house next to his.

He had something to do to occupy his new quiet life, didn’t he? Now that Ellie was acting all older and tough…

So secretly, when it snowed overnight, he shoveled your entryway. He did it when it was too early to notice, the sun barely reaching its peak.

You always woke up like your small plot of land had been untouched by the storm, and Joel got to sleep with an aching back.

2. Taking care of the tall grass

Winter got replaced by spring, then summer. He didn’t know why, but you insisted on letting the grass in front of your house grow.

“It’s for the bees, Joel.” You told him one day.

He let out a small chuckle, his brown eyes sparkling in the light of your happiness.

“Le'me take care of it, it’s too much. Can barely see your house. I’ll leave a small patch for the bees, I promise.”

“Fine.”

He sometimes shot glances at you, sitting on the front porch with a book, when he took a break to wipe the sweat off his forehead, panicking when he felt unfamiliar warmth in his chest.

He hadn’t felt like this in a long time.

It was scary.

He went away for a few days, on a long run, just to see if it would go away.

But it didn’t

3.Fixing your broken step

He was scared for your life once.

For something really dumb.

You had gone out of your house – probably to water your plants – when he saw you trip over the last step. It was broken. And if he hadn’t caught you, you would have fallen on your face.

“Y'okay?”

“Fuck. Yes… Thank you Joel. Sorry. Should fix this ol’ thing…”

He took a mental note to fix it for you.

And while you where inside, probably to cook dinner, Joel took care of your broken stair and replaced it with a new, sturdy piece of wood.

4. Serenading

Sometimes, Tommy would invite Joel to sit in front of a fire and use his guitar to transport the minds of the community.

Sometimes, you were there, watching. Not knowing that every song was for you.

5.Cuting your hair

“Maria won’t shave it. She says it’s too pretty.” You said, standing in his living room with a razor in hand, and your long locks of hair in the other.

You were visibly upset. He could tell by the way your eyes were watering, and your expression was stuck in a low frown.

“I’ll do it.” He cleared his throat and went to pull a chair from his kitchen.

He didn’t care about your hair length. He cared about your comfort.

And he just wanted to see you smile again.

The locks fell to the ground. Joel felt as liberated as you.

He ran his hand through your newly buzzed hair, feeling the prickling of what was left.

“You like it?” He asked as he let you feel it too.

“Yes. Thank you, Joel.”

Your smile warmed his heart once again.

“You wanna see it? C’mon, darlin’.”

He guided you to the bathroom of the house he shared with Ellie.

He stayed behind with a smile as you admired your new haircut. He saw your eyes glow again.

“I feel so free.” You exclaimed and turned around to wrap your arms around Joel’s middle.

Your touch sent electricity through his body, took his breath away. Awkwardly, his big hands stayed in the air for a few seconds, before his arms enveloped you in a strong embrace.

“You’re pretty, darlin’.” Joel whispered, a small secret shared to mostly himself.

Because you were completely oblivious.

“Do you… want to come to the movie night tonight with me?”

You were surprised that he asked. Joel didn’t seem like the one to hang out around people. But he had to ask. At least once. To calm the wave of love he felt.

“Y-Yeah, sure!” You smiled. “Will Ellie be there?”

“Just us.”

“Perfect!”

When you closed the door, Joel could breathe again. He felt like a teenager talking to his first crush. Pathetic.

He got you popcorn and sat beside you on the ground. You smiled at him brightly and gave him one side of your blanket, so he’d stay warm the whole time.

The movie on the make-shift screen was playing in front of you two. But he couldn’t listen. Joel was too enamoured by your presence; you had captured his eyes. Slowly, he got closer to you, until his arm sneaked around your waist, holding you impossibly closer.

Thankfully, you seemed to accept his touch, your head leaning on his strong shoulder. From there, he could smell the sweet scent of your home-made shampoo on your hair that had grown just a little, like the skin of a fresh kiwi.

He said your name. You looked at him.

“I really care about you.” He whispered, a shared secret.

“Me too.” You smiled.

But you didn’t understand how much he meant. He had to show you.

Tired, working hands held your face close to his as his lips met yours in a sweet, loving kiss. It had been so long. He was scared he had forgot the proper way to kiss someone.

But, no.

He hadn't.
