Rat rescue! Hattie was found as a stray and brought to Lincoln County Humane Society. They are over capacity for small animals right now, so they reached out to us for help. Hattie has skin issues and some lumps and bumps, but she seems otherwise healthy. Her foster home reports that she is a bit shy, but she happily accepts snacks, tucks them away in her hidey house and then comes back for more. She’s a sweet and gentle girl. Hattie will have a vet appointment soon to see if we can get her skin cleared up and get the lumps removed. We’ll do our best to get her healthy enough that she can eventually find a forever home. She has ruby eyes and has a roan coat, she’ll become more white over time whenever new hair grows in. The previous owners said she bites, but she only test bites, and is mouthy like a baby. Some of my new rescue girls. All topeared black berkshires and they look identical! The only difference between them all is their tummy markings, which is useless unless you can see their tummies!

Only managed to name one of these babies, the most troubled, traumatized one. She is very screechy and is absolutely petrified of being touched. She is very curious though and will come up to my hand for sniffs and the occassional lick, but the minute I try and touch her? NOPE! Excited to work with these babies.

They came from a home where the owner had far too many rats to cope with. Lots of rats all crammed into tiny cages, with very little food and no water. Just bone dry, green stained water bottles. All were filthy and had had very little human contact. A lady rescued them and fostered them for a while and after they were brought back to good health, she was offering them free to a good home. I ended up taking 7 of them... Bringing my total up to 19 rats! 13 girls and 6 boys!
