You're pretty good at searching here and there, but there's a lot more to academic research. This is why we put together this free, self-guided course!
Tumblr media
Because three is the magic number (look it up!), the course is made up of three modules of three short lessons and three sets of practice quizzes. Try it try it try it!

TLDR; Research Methods is officially over!!!
Just took my final for the course and got an 83%. I'm happy with my score; I won't know my overall grade for the course for a couple weeks if not more but I have maintained an 86% average for the majority of the course. I feel like this was one of the few courses I have taken in my three years of college experience where I actually will use what I learned outside of the course. This course taught me how to conduct literature reviews, how to find credible sources, and how to really dive deep into topics. I gained a lot from this course overall and I honestly would not mind having to take it again which I cannot say for a lot of my courses.

Stephen Olejnik ends his paper summarizing the methodological steps necessary in multivariate analysis of variance with this quote:
"...good research introduces at least as many questions as it answers."
For those of us currently doing psychological research, I thought this was an important point for us to keep in mind. We can only do so much in one paper, but what we leave for readers to uncover next is also of extreme importance, if not equally important to the results of the current study.
If any followers are looking for more statistical guidance, let me know. I am happy to provide resources for different methods commonly used across psychological research.

Survey for my University Psychology course
Hi guys!
If able, can anyone help me by taking part in a completely anonymous survey for my Psychology course. The survey is about the Dark triad and its potential effect on our academic grit!
I need 50 people to take part to get an empirical result, and if you can it will only take about 10-15 minutes and it would help me out so so much!
Here is the link! https://sunduni.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3KKdNUdRIYyyqEe

One of my professors told in her lecture about how she had continued to ask follow-up questions, kinda kept pushing, when the interviewee hadn't given the kind of answer she expected. She let her preconceptions lead her and didn’t listen to the interviewee (which is something you should never do as a researcher). On the lecture she openly admitted this mistake, reflected on the reasons for it and presented ways to avoid doing so. I think it was great that she shared this, because I'm sure many novice researchers are afraid of making mistakes or feel ashamed if they do. In this way, my professor showed that these things happen even to more experienced researchers and that it's not the end of the world. You just have to learn from your mistake and avoid doing it in the future.

Bivariate Analysis for Quantitative Social Research
Bivariate analysis involves analysing two variables at a time in order to uncover whether the two variables are related. Exploring relationships between variables means searching for evidence that the variation in one variable coincides with variation in another variable. There are a variety of techniques you can use to conduct bivariate analysis but their use depends on the nature of the two…
