The co-director of MADP, Elyse Max, told local news outlet KRCG: “We just implore the Governor to find mercy in his heart. Amber is a gentle human. Everyone who knows her knows that Amber is not of future harm.” WTF Elyse? Sott raped a girl back in 1992 and raped a murdered a woman in 2003.

Government officials and “prison reform” activists in the United States are backing an effort to block the execution of a convicted child sex offender and murderer who began identifying as transgender while on death row. 

Missouri Democrat Representatives Cori Bush and Emanuel Cleaver have issued a letter to the state’s governor requesting clemency for Amber McLaughlin, a man who is set to become the first transgender inmate executed by the state for his crimes on January 3, 2023.

Formerly known as “Scott,” McLaughlin began transitioning while on death row for the horrific rape and murder of his ex-girlfriend, Beverly Guenther, in 2003.

According to court records, Guenther and McLaughlin met in 2002 and began living with each other shortly into the relationship. But the cohabitation was marred by break-ups that were often so serious that Guenther sometimes had to obtain restraining orders to keep McLaughlin away from her.

In the spring of 2003, Guenther and McLaughlin formally ended their relationship, but McLaughlin continued to pursue the woman, exhibiting stalking behaviors by frequently visiting her place of work and calling her.

On October 27, 2003, McLaughlin was arrested after burglarizing Guenther’s home. He told arresting officers he was trying to reclaim possessions he left behind at the home while living with Guenther, and was arraigned in November. Guenther had filed for a protective order just two days before McLaughlin murdered her.

On the night of November 20, while the protective order was in effect, McLaughlin drove to Guenther’s workplace and waited for her in the parking lot of the office building. He ambushed her as she walked towards her truck, pulled her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her.

After violating the woman, McLaughlin stabbed her to death and shoved her corpse in his hatchback. He drove Guenther’s body to a nearby river, and disposed of it in the underbrush. McLaughlin was arrested the next day at the hospital while attempting to obtain medication for his mental illness.

McLaughlin was ultimately found guilty of first-degree murder and forcible rape. A trial jury was unable to decide whether to impose a sentence of death or life in prison without the possibility of parole, and the presiding judge made the final decision to issue the death penalty. 

McLaughlin has unsuccessfully appealed his sentence multiple times over since it was handed down.

In 2016, McLaughlin was granted a stay of execution, but it was re-instated by a Federal Appeals Court in 2021. On September 29, after years of delays, the state of Missouri announced a date of January 3, 2023, had been set for McLaughlin’s execution.

In addition to the 2003 murder of Beverley Guenther, McLaughlin also had a historical sex offender registrationdue to a 1992 conviction for raping a 14-year-old girl.

On December 12, McLaughlin’s legal counsel filed a clemency petition urging Missouri Governor Mike Parson to intervene and prevent the execution. In the 27-page document, McLaughlin’s lawyers portrayed their client sympathetically, stating that he was “failed by the institutions… that should have protected [him].”

Included in the petition were descriptions of childhood physical and sexual abuse, periods of time spent in foster care, brain damage from fetal alcohol exposure, and mental illness that manifested as depression.

Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (MADP) took up McLaughlin’s cause and rallied at the Missouri Capitol on Tuesday, December 27, to request that Governor Mike Parson grant clemency to McLaughlin. The organization delivered a petition with over 6,000 signatures to Parson’s office.

The co-director of MADP, Elyse Max, told local news outlet KRCG: “We just implore the Governor to find mercy in his heart. Amber is a gentle human. Everyone who knows her knows that Amber is not of future harm.”

The plea was supported by seven former Missouri judges, according to MADP, and two Democratic state representatives of Congress.

A joint letter signed and issued by both Rep. Bush (D-MO) and Rep. Cleaver (D-MO), delivered alongside MADP’s petition, requested that Governor Parson halt the scheduled execution and commute McLaughlin’s sentence to life in prison, citing “gender dysphoria” and “mental health issues” as mitigating circumstances.

The letter, dated December 27, argues that jurors deliberating McLaughlin’s sentence were deprived of “crucial mental health evidence,” including information regarding his “gender dysphoria,” as his defense lawyers “failed to present it.”

Using feminine pronouns for McLaughlin, the politicians wrote: “Ms. McLaughlin faced a traumatic childhood and mental health issues throughout her life. She experienced horrific abuse and neglect at the hands of various caregivers; court records indicate her adoptive father would frequently strike her with paddles and a night stick, and even tase her. Alongside this horrendous abuse, she was also silently struggling with her identity, grappling with what we now understand is gender dysphoria. The abuse, coupled with the persistent mental turmoil surrounding her identity, led to mild neurological brain damage and multiple suicide attempts both as a child and as an adult.”

The two representatives concluded their appeal by describing McLaughlin as a “woman” and referencing discrimination against “LGBTQ+” people.

“Ms. McLaughlin’s cruel execution would mark the state’s first use of the death penalty on a woman since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated capital punishment in 1976, and even worse it would not solve any of the systemic problems facing Missourians and people all across America, including antiLGBTQ+ hate and violence, and cycles of violence that target and harm women.”

A spokesperson for Gov. Parson told NBC News that the governor is reviewing the clemency request.

Earlier this month, Oregon Governor Kate Brown commuted the death sentences of 17 men convicted of violent murders, including one male inmate who had begun identifying as a woman while on death row.

According to court documents, in 1994 Karl Anthony Terry killed Jeffrey and Dale Brown with a samurai sword while they slept. The three men belonged to an organization that Terry called the “Order of the Black Dove.” The creed of the Order of the Black Dove, as stated in Terry’s journal entries, “celebrated violence and other anti-social behavior.”

While incarcerated and awaiting the death sentence, Terry began identifying as transgender and adopted the name Tara Ellyssia Zyst. Terry has used nearly a dozen other aliases in addition to Tara Ellyssia, such as Miazni Theidra, Deluria Dinnae, Uujohne Aejetta, and Ula Mitsata. He is being held at Snake River Correctional Facility in Ontario, Oregon, a medium-security mixed custody prison, and is now listed as “female” in prison records.

You were running. From what? You didn't know. Just kept going. Keep running and running and running. Something was chasing you. You knew that much. Something wanted you and was going to get you so you had to keep running. You didn't even think to look around the hall you were running down. All you knew was that the door to your freedom was getting further and further away with each desperate step. 

You ran as hard and fast as your legs could take you till they gave out, causing you to tumble into a bookshelf you had passed a dozen times. 

You pulled your knees up to your chest, hiding your face away into your knees. Choking out soft broken cries for your safety. 

You felt a presence, you heard the floorboards creak as something stepped closer to you. A hand rested on your back.

¨no more of this. It's over now.¨ a familiar monotone voice said but you refused to look up.

¨ Look at me. It is time to go.¨

¨No, please. No more.¨ 

You let out a blood curdling scream as pain enveloped your body.

You shot up, a cold sweat dripping down your forehead. 

That nightmare played over and over in your head. The same ordel night after night. It was hard to get to sleep in the first place. You dreaded hearing the stranger's voice. The few times you did look up you were met with a shadow of a figure with two wide eyes staring back at you and teeth turned into a twisted smile. As if Dream was punishing you for… well…

You heard something shift next to you. Looking over, you saw the blond that had been ¨hiding out¨ in your apartment. Except he really wasn't hiding out, was he?

He looked peaceful. You didn't know nightmares could sleep yet here he was. He wasn't really a nightmare to you though. A charmer and a gentleman. A sweetheart. 

He wasn't wearing his sunglasses but his eyes were closed. After about two or three months of living together, you caught him without his sunglasses on. He had to explain the whole Dream world and Nightmares and Morphus and his ordeal. You already knew about his… activities… but you didn't really care. As long as he cleaned up the carpet. This whole Nightmare thing was just frosting on the cake, per say. 

After you saw him without his glasses, he started being more genuine to you. He was more careful around you. Treating you as if you were a fine art. He would compliment you more often, pulling you closer to him while the two of you watched movies, preparing food.

From that, stemmed dates. The first time he asked you out, you nearly screamed yes. You didn't know how to tell him you wanted to go out, so thank god he made the first move.

Dates where the usual kind of boyfriend boyfriend dates. Dinners, movies, arcades, the beach, trips. 

Then you met Dream. He was a lot less scary than you had first thought and he was a lot more tired. Makes sense though. You had practically begged on your hands and knees for Dream to let The Corinthian stay around. Must have worked, because he made a deal with the two of you. As long as The Corinthian did not harm anybody innocent, Morphous wouldn't bother us. 

It was all domestic fluff from then on with the occasional scolding Cori about keeping the rug clean.

The sheets beside you shifted again and a long groan was let out. 

The Corinthian flipped over on his back, usually he would use his arm to cover the sun from his eyes or eye mouths but it was still dark out.

"Darlin?" he blinked his eyes open. "what time is it?"

"uh… 3 in the morning." you sighed, rubbing your temples.

He sat up, streshing his arms up in to the air. "why are you up?"

"nightmare." you said simply, pulling your knees up to your chest and looking away. 

"nightmare? Want to talk about it? I know a thing or two about nightmares." he chuckled.

"i was running down a long hall. The door kept getting further and further away. Then i tripped and some void thing caught up with me. Then i was in a lot of pain." you layed back down. Corinthian smiled, leaning on to one hand so he was looking over you.

"You are so pretty when you are tired."

You let out a audible groan, rolling your eyes. "Cori." You whined.

He just laughed and layed back down, pulling closer with his arm wrapped around you and his other behind his head.

You layed your head on his bare chest, tracing circles in to his skin.

"Do you want me to see if I can do anything about thoughs nightmares? Talk to Morpheus?" He asked, gently rubbing your arm with his finger tips.

"Would you? As long it's not to far out your way."

"Oh sweet boy, if you need me to do anything then it isnt too far out."

"You are too good to me, Cori" You hummed, letting your eyes flutter close.

"Whatever you say... rest your eyes, try and get some sleep."

You yawned, letting the warmth of sleep and Cori rock you to sleep.

Corinthian stayed up a little bit, making sure that you were dreaming of him.

We’ve had a lot a lot of life changes in the past 6 months. We bought a new house, Cory started a new job with a MUCH better work/life balance than his last gig (without sacrificing much pay, etc.). The new job also means we do not have to move to Texas or Virginia (something his other company was going to require) and overall things have been peaceful. He gave up the prestige of a FAANG company but is more relaxed and present and that makes it 100% worth it.

The girls are on Summer Break which means they are home with me for the next 3ish months, so juggling entertaining them, keeping up with house chores, and getting my work done has been difficult, but not impossible. Starting to get into the swing of things and thankfully they are the age where they can play together/distract themselves for extended periods of time. We also have them signed up for dance camp & art camp. THEN at the end of July we’re traveling to Colorado as a family for a wedding, so lots of fun summer plans. 

I’ve been feeling a little lonely, socially. My mom swears I’ll make friends once the girls start kindergarten, but I’m just not sure how to even make friends at this age??

But other than that I’m feeling the best I’ve felt in a very long time. I’m reading more, creating more, and working on getting our new place organized. I feel motivated to keep improving myself and am excited to see where the rest of this year will take us.

Card: 9 of Roses (Hearts).

Short Answer: You need to start over. Perhaps a change of address. Certainly a change of thinking. But you don’t see it because you’ve been used to how things are for so long. What is in your environment that could be better but you’ve put it off for so long, you have forgotten that it can be better in the first place?

Not So Short Answer: Cory Hutcheson’s book 54 Devils gives “A little house/cottage. A new life.”, as the reference for the 9 of Hearts. So I had to sit with the card for a bit to understand how to explain it. Superficially, the card is advising you to change your address, to move out from where you are into a different neighborhood. Obviously, this isn’t something that is going to happen immediately and could have a timetable of years when considering how the current economy is outright hostile to such action.

But it is possible to change your living space without changing your mail drop. It takes a change of mind and a new way to look at you, your world, and how you choose to interact with it. You have become so used to the way things are that you are having difficulty imaging that alternate ways of doing things exist. You are aware of this or you would not have asked your query that way.

Because you are used to the way things are now, it is easy to overlook the little ways that things are not good for you. After all, you’ve put up with that flat pillow all this time, and even found a way to fold it into something you tell yourself is comfortable, so why bother to take the time to do something about it today, when there are lots of other things that need your attention and action.

But here’s the thing about flat pillows: They don’t fix themselves. They become part of the background, one more piece of scenery that you rush by because the pot on the stove is boiling over. You only remember that the pillow is flat when it’s time to go to bed at last but now you have to fold the pillow into a usable shape again and it becomes one more piece of grit in your soul’s unseen wound because there is nothing you can do about it until morning, but the morning has its own burdens to bear.

A new life doesn’t require a new postal address. It does require changing what is within reach so that you become part of a mutually beneficial environment instead of always fighting it for a moment of peace and rest. If this means taking twenty minutes and ten dollars to replace the pillow, then that is time and money well spent when you consider all the evenings and lazy afternoons that you won’t grind down by holding something that no longer holds you back.

And once you replace the pillow, or whatever small thing that this post inspires you to finally take care of, when you are at peace with that little piece of your new life that you have created, look around. What other small things can you do today, this week, this month, that will improve your life such that after you take care of the metaphorical pots, you can sit in peace? Start there.

We built the system to be secure. You know me, I’m a paranoid old creep with a dirty mind, so everything I did, I did right. The keys were on an air gap system. I bought that system myself off a pile of boxed HP laptops at Fry’s just a couple of weeks before they closed their doors for good.”

“Rest in peace.”

“It was time. But back when you could go into Fry’s, you could pick up a laptop sealed in shrink-­w rap, carry it yourself to the cashier, pay cash for it, and walk out, stopping only to show your receipt to the poor door-­checker. Then you could take it to the data center, badge into the clean room, lay out your workbench, unscrew that sucker, and remove every single network interface with a pair of pliers, not just snipping the traces but ripping them right off the board.”

“Lucky you didn’t snap the board.”

He grimaced. “I did. I bought three of them so I could take a mulligan or two if I needed it. I only needed one spare, as it turned out. Then it went into a safe, a good safe, rated for three hours. There’s a watchman who makes physical rounds of every safe room, every two hours. And I locked up the BIOS with a hardware token. Steal that laptop, you’d still need my token.”

“And yet . . .”

“You know how they say anyone can design a security system that he himself can’t figure out how to break?”

“Schneier’s law.”

“Schneier’s law. Yeah. Someone smarter than I am figured it out.”

“The watchman?”

“No, though he might have been in on it. They fired him. The safe was opened, the laptop was gone.”

“And the hardware token?”

“You’ll love this.”

“I can’t wait.”

He tugged his forelock and adopted a broad Cockney accent that would have embarrassed Dick van Dyke. “Guv’nah, I was pickpocketed, so I was.”

“I don’t believe it. Pickpocketing is supposed to be a dead art. Who was working the scam, Apollo Robbins?”

He shrugged. “I don’t reckon so. But yeah, there’s plenty of Vegas acts that do pickpocketing stuff, and there’s a pretty big YouTube competitive pickpocket scene with tutorials. Plus, there’s the European talent, a lot of it, never really died out there. Covent Garden is like a plague reservoir for the pathogen, and you get an outbreak every year or two.”

“You had the hardware token on your key ring?”

“That day, I did. I’d been in the data center. Then we went to dinner. Hydra. The prix fixe. The chef’s table is nice, but the taster menu gets you the octopodi. Someone bumped me between the data center and my front door.”

“Oof,” I said. “Did you have to ring the downstairs neighbor’s doorbell and climb out on their balcony?”

“Don’t be stupid,” he said. “In the first place, Sethu has her own keys. In the second place, the outside doors here are locked and armed when we’re AFK.”

I’d noticed the locks on the outside doors, and the break sensors, and the cameras — ­both the covert and overt ones. There were probably some I’d missed. I wouldn’t put it past Danny to have a lidar rig in the shrubs, something to help the system distinguish between cat burglars and house cats.

“The watchman from the data center,” I said. “That’s your guy. Probably not the mastermind, but he’ll be the key to it all.”

“Looks like they socially engineered him. Matched him on Tinder, messaged him, Oh, is that where you work? I’m just around the corner — ­want to meet me for a quick boba tea?”

“Catfished. Honey trap.”

He sighed. “Yeah. It was a good one.”

“You reported the theft?”

“The insurance company will pay for a new laptop, which, frankly, I don’t need, because I already have the spare I bought when I was going through the whole rigamarole to set up the air gap. But that’s not the valuable part.”

“No, it isn’t. How about the keys?”

“Yeah, how about them?”

“First, have you warned your source that you lost them, so they can tell Apple and Samsung and all the other manufacturers that rely on those secure enclave chips? And second, have you warned your users that their money isn’t safe?”

He looked over at Sethu, at Palo Alto, at his lemonade glass, and at the clouds in the sky. Long looks. The silence spoke volumes.

“How much money is the Trustlesscoin ledger worth, Danny?”

He looked me dead in the eye now. “About a billion.”

We’d already been talking about trillions, so I shouldn’t have been shocked. But tech founders are always throwing around big numbers, and I’ve developed the mental habit of knocking a few zeroes off any claims about “total addressable markets.”

Trustlesscoin was the new crypto on the block. My unconscious estimate of its value was in the low tens of millions, which is also a big number, but not a billion.

“A billion here, a billion there — ­”

He cut me off. “Pretty soon, it starts to add up to real money. Yeah, I know, Marty. Don’t joke, you’re not good at it.”

“When did you lose the keys?”

He checked his watch — ­a mechanical one, not ostentatious, an old wartime Rolex, from when men’s Oysters were the size of a nickel, not these giant tourbillon monstrosities that cost a million bucks and looked like a poor man’s idea of a rich man’s watch. “Seventy-­four hours and thirty minutes ago.”

“Give or take.”

“You’re not good at comedy, Marty. We’ve established that.”

“What fallout has there been?”

“Not much,” he said. “In fact, maybe none. We have a pretty good statistical picture of what normal Trustless transaction activity looks like, and nothing has rung the alarm bells yet.”

“Yet. But maybe not ever. Maybe they can’t figure out how to exploit what they got.”

“Or maybe they’re biding their time. Or running an old-­ school salami-­slice grift, shaving a lot of pennies, getting ready to cash out.”

“Can you block that? They have to convert Trustlesscoins into fiat to get away with it, right?”

“They do, but we can’t stop them. We’re on every major exchange, not just to other tokens but also a bunch of different kinds of fiat and stablecoins. How do you think we got to a billion dollars so quickly? Trustless is both highly liquid and highly efficient. That’s why it’s the future of finance.”

“And money laundering.”

For a second, I thought he was going to throw his lemonade glass, dash it to the cool flagstones of his roof garden. He took a deep breath and then another and then set the glass down. “And money laundering. Marty, stop fucking with me. I am keenly aware that there are money launderers using my service. That has been apparent since the start. Some of these money launderers are very far away and would struggle to reach me if my technology did something to upset them. Some of them are closer.”

He shook his head violently. “Marty, I am shitting bricks here. There’s another shoe getting ready to drop, and when it does, I’m going to go down with it. Hard. I’m not just talking about losing my reputation and my fortune, I’m not just talking about ruining the life of that woman over there who dragged me back from the brink. I’m talking about being targeted for physical violence by unreasonable, sadistic, powerful criminal men who amassed their fortunes by spilling an ocean of blood and who cannot be placated. Nor can they be fended off, not unless I want to live my life inside a bunker.

“I don’t know who stole those keys, Marty. I shouldn’t have had them in the first place. I am now in a position where everything I hold dear is on the line, and so I called you. You and I go way back, you’re my friend and I trust you, but I didn’t call you because I wanted to cry on your shoulder.”

“You called me because you think I can get the keys back.”

“Bullshit. I called you because I’m desperate. I don’t think anyone can get those keys back. I think that inside of a month, everything I care about will be in ruins. Major technology platforms that depend on secure enclaves for things way beyond Trustlesscoin will be exposed because of my recklessness, and they will be fucked. Secure enclaves are designed to be tamper-­ proof. You try to take one off a board the way I did with those air gap laptops’ network interfaces and you render them permanently inoperable. They can’t be field updated. They have no flashable BIOS. A vulnerability in a secure enclave is permanent.

“But the trillions of dollars in damage that I will do to the largest tech companies in the world will not worry me, because I will either be on the run or dead. Not a good death, either, Marty.

“So I called you because before that happens, I plan on exhausting every avenue of mitigation available to me.”

“If I recover them?”

He snorted. “You do that, you might save my life and rescue a third of the top performers on the S&P 500 from their worst earnings call since the Great Financial Crisis.”

#10 Glee

Plot: Spanish teacher Will feels that he's missing something in his life, something that really makes a difference. Then the director of his school's Glee club gets fired and Will seizes the oppurtunity to go back into the world he missed and loves so much. It's a long and winding road to success, with constang failures and setbacks. A group of misfits and strong wills need to come together to change lives - both their own, Will's and many others.

Years: 2009-2015

Seasons: 6

My story: I heard of Glee when it aired, but it wasn't until a few years later that I watched it. Being the musical-lover I am I was so happy to have found a series that actually was a musical, which few others have done. I fell hard for the music, the revenge of the underdogs, the diversity come together and the queerness. Even though much in Glee has not aged well, it was a really important feature for its time. As a person who was in choir (though not showchoir) in high school this was the first high school series that I could relate to.

Teachable moments: Something you should think about while watching Glee, especially in 2023, is - don't take everything so seriously. Glee is, though dealing with serious issues, done with a twinkle in the eye. Some stuff are purely ironic. What they did do was that they dared to deal with issues about bullying, body image, racism, homophobia, transphobia and funding for the arts in a way that few, if anyone, did at the time.

Best character: I've always been a huge Klaine-shipper and that inclines me to choose Kurt here. The story of how Kurt was written for Chris Colfer after his audition is amazing and he brings so much to that character and the series. Kurt is a fighter and he knows right from wrong in a very firm way. His relationship with his dad is touching and I love to follow them over the years. I had a friend in middle school, who was the only out guy in school and he reminds me a lot of Kurt.

Best episode: "Quarterback" (S5E3). It's heartbreaking, but I have to choose this episode anyway. When Cory Montieth (1982-2013, rest in peace) who portrayed Finn passed away they choose to make this in his honor. It's a beutifuly made tribute where everyone wears their emotions on their sleaves and where everything feels totaly pure and natural.

Best quote: "Being part of something special does not make you special. Something is special because you're a part of it" (Rachel Berry)

Fun fact: Both Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Naya Rivera (Santana) were cut early from different seasons of American Idol, before staring in Glee.

POV Characters

where i ever to write down the story of Tanza, while the story is about the demigods and their godly parents, it would all be told trought the pov of their 'sideckicks' for a lack of better word.

Strychnine: Imay assistant/caretaker/servant/emotional support undead, all rolled into one. He's a human revived trought an artifical demonic core, granting him things such as higher endurance than regular undead, dark vision and resistance to magic. Strych doenst remember anything about his previous identity and has only retained technical knowledge about Neautra, the Natural world, History and the Demon Hunters. He knows he was killed for the specific reason of serving Imay and because of his knowledge, this doesnt distress him as much as it should. Thought he doesnt feel much, its as if his emotions werent brought back to life with him. Hes magically bound to Imay as her servant, and her toughts, feelings and wants often bleed into his to the point he struggles to distinguish what are her tougths and what are his, this however is very much one sided.

Garlasia: a hot shot rising star Huntress along with her squad, Garlasia is a drakin wielder of fire, with her quick witted fiery personality she conquers the people around her. Garly often butts heads with authority, she does her own thing and so far it has worked for her, probably helps she's the niece of the current Royal Huntress. Garly and her squad have been put as 'handlers' of Hiraki after a major blunder on his part. Garly sees right past Hiraki fake persona and often calls him out, as well not respecting his perceived authority, they often clash. He doesnt get along any better with the rest of the team. Garly is impulsively brave, agressive in her fights, loud and cheerful,friendly by nature and all around Good Girl. Not the smartest cookie when it comes to technical knowledge or planning, she prefers to improvise on the fly, being able to read situations and react to it quickly.

Cory: A half demon, Cory was created by a dark mage along with dozens of other half demons as servants and essentially guard dogs. They lived their early years in this state of servitute, semi feral living off scraps their masters dropped for them and their siblings. Until they all were freed by the Crimal group Dressia was a part of, while many of the surviving half-demons scaped never to be seen again, Cory was one of the few that were taken in by the group, and due to their closeness in age to Dressia, Hera allowed the half demon to stay with the girl. Dressia helped Cory to speak, read and write and the two became extremely close friends. Once free, Cory personality was able to blossom, and they are sly, sarcastic and have a short temper, Cory has the habit of hoarding things, and they love the finer things in life.Fiercely loyal and protective of Dressia, they often try to push her away from overextending herself, despite enjoying their current very adventurous lifestyle, secretly Cory really wants to just...run away from it all, and experience a peace for the first time in their life.
