The Cat From The Kimono HC - Nancy Peña
This surreal and imaginative adult fairy tale follows a beautiful black cat through a fantastical world where he'll survive impossible odds to make his way home... to his mistress' kimono!
Once upon a time in Japan lived a beautiful young woman. The beloved daughter of a silk mill owner, she was lavished with gorgeous kimonos from across the province, but her favorite was the first one he gave her. It was a deep crimson painted with soft, purring black cats, and was crafted by the finest weaver in the mill. The weaver, besotted with her beauty, professed his love to the maiden. Indifferent to his advances, she preferred the warmth of her feline finery to his, leading him down a dark path that separates the woman from one of her beloved black cats! Thus, the cat begins a fantastic voyage, from the bottom of the sea to the smokey markets of London, sometimes in the company of Sherlock Holmes himself, as he becomes a figure of myth and legend.
Travel the world on this surreal journey through the imagination of renowned artist Nancy Peña (Madame Cat), whose gorgeous style is inspired by Japanese painting.

Unended GN - Josh Bayer
What prevents you from finishing your life's work? Josh Bayer finds a manuscript of an unfinished play inside his deceased father's desk. The play tells the story of Josh's mother's early death (age 37) and his father's struggle with single parenthood. When he attempts to adapt the play into comics, it triggers a series of personal crises. Bayer's limitations and futile ambitions are brought into sharp relief as he grapples with an estranged, unknowable parent and the play's frustrating lack of resolution. Humans worship lore, myth, and fables, but many people's creative dreams become abandoned. Why? Josh Bayer stitches scattered memories into surrealistic episodes permeated with dream logic. Unended is a Promethean quest to excavate the creative fire hidden inside us.
Whatcha scooping up this week to kick off November, Fantom Fam?

Zack Snyder's Justice league proves that given creative freedom, a director with passion, knowledge and experience and a budget to back it will never fail when it comes to movies being successful. Zack Snyder was given his redemption with the release of the Snyder Cut. A well deserved (by him and us) redemption that prompted a one of a kind superhero movie. Filled with nuance, character depth, and the thrill of superheroes without being tacky and fake funny (fuck you, Joss Whedon) Snyder did what most superheroes are criticized for being unable to do, relate.
Snyder's Justice league is what we should've gotten in the first place, a seamless and logical follow up to an underrated BVS, (the Director's Cut).
Studio's constantly ruin films for arbitrary reasons because making money is more important than making good movies apparently. Pathetic.
Thank you, Zack. I'm glad you got what you deserve. I'm honored to have experienced my childhood heroes come to life in the best way possible.
Although, this begs the question, what next? To me, the logical step forward would be to restore the Snyder Verse to its requisite glory. Beg Ray Fisher to come back and take up the role he nailed so effortlessly. Tell Ben Affleck to stop whatever he's doing and put on the cowl. It fit him well, I thought so even after BVS and I know I was right now. Give Henry Cavill the recognition he deserves and let him take his rightful place as the leader of the Justice League, as Kal-El, the Last Son of Krypton. Pay Momoa and Miller more so they don't run from your doomed enterprise. Most importantly, take Wonder Woman away from Patty Jenkins. Sheesh. What tf was WW84?!
I'm not big on prayer but this movie answered every one of mine. As someone who got bashed for years for being faithful to DC, despite it all, I was gratified. I am excited for the future of the Justice League and Snyder's place in the DCEU.

I know this is probably blasphemy as someone who values and treasures the Snyder Cut, but after some thinking I realized I don’t want the Snyderverse restored, at least not the way Zack originally wanted it. I don’t want the Knightmare storyline, I don’t want Aquaman and Wonder Woman to die (even if they do come back), I don’t want Harley to die, I don’t want a stupid and unnecessary love triangle between Clark, Lois, and Bruce, I don’t want to see Superman turn into a killing machine, and I most definitely do NOT want Batman to sacrifice himself and die.
I think I was happy with ZSJL as is because it was a bit dark but still so hopeful and earnest. It showed the characters as what I grew up to see them as — actual, larger than life superheroes that want to save the world. I see the value of having wilder, darker stories in the comics, but I don’t think it would be very satisfying or even financially viable for WB to do JL 2 and 3 with the plot as Zack intended. It might appease some, but it might turn a larger audience off the JL completely.
I thank Zack and Deborah and everyone else who worked on the Snydercut and provided fans with a labor of love that ultimately gave us a vision of what the Justice League is and what they stand for. I’m just not too sure that that story should still continue as originally planned anymore.
What I am 100% for though, is still pushing through with a follow up to the Justice League verse and having them team up again, with the same characters and actors. We know Jason, Gal and Ezra have stayed, but Ray Fisher, Ben Affleck, and Henry Cavill have shown that they are fantastic in those roles and are really good as their characters. WB should bring them back, because it would be such a shame and a waste not to. They fit into the universes of the rest of their movies (with Aquaman, Flash, and Wonder Woman around) so it would make sense to get them back on board.
