Hello! I am fairly new to following you and I am interested in reading your story. It will take me ages to get caught up if I start in 2014 with your story. I was wondering if you could share a link for your current story arch or a good starting point with what's currently happening in your story? Thank you in advance!
You're right, starting from 2014 would be a very daunting task. A more practical starting point might be my Back to Bridgeport tag which starts in late 2021. The link for those posts in chronological order is here. I also have a crossover story set in Isla Paradiso which is tagged Return to Isla Paradiso and can be read here.
It might also be helpful to check out my character page if would like to learn more about my OCs and where they all fit into the story. (I really have to update that page btw- I just saw that Roy's triplets are still described as toddlers when they are in fact well on the way to being pre-teens!)
Thank you for your interest in my story and please don't hesitate to shoot me another ask or ten if you're confused/ need help with anything, or if you simply want to complain about how toxic Roy is or how problematic Liam is- my ask box is always open!

Delaney stopped at the mailbox after returning from Sixam. Inside, were the last two postcards—one from Isla Paradiso and the other from Barnacle Bay—she needed to complete her collection. Despite traveling to multiple worlds and even to space, she achieved her aspiration right in her own front yard. She crossed the last task off her granddad's list and went inside to look for the attorney's phone number.

With great displeasure, I am here once again to announce that the Faygo Legacy has returned and they’re here in Isla Paradiso
This time, far away from a trash future, we open on a calm beach where one incredibly blue man was just soaking up some rays.

The Life of Carmin Gonzalo (so far)
Tumblr media
Carmin is a half alien sim that is part of the third generation of a four generation family I started in Isla Paradiso. The founders of the family were brother and sister Juan and Asper. Juan was a cook and Asper was a lifeguard who plundered sunken treasure at dive spots for extra money. This is where she met the mermaid Salty Seaworth, who moved to dry land to be with her and they quickly got married. Juan moved out of the main family home to start his own branch of the family. Asper and Salty had one daughter called Pearl, who is Carmin's mother.
During Pearl's childhood her parents started a string of resorts on the island, and quickly made a lot of money doing so. When Pearl was old enough she packed her bags and moved away from home, to start her own resort empire in Sunlit Tides. Pearl was originally married to a human, and had two daughters - Margo and Sam - before her husband died from old age.
Once she was an elder she had a strange visit from an alien, who ended up staying with the family, and eventually marrying Pearl! Despite being an old couple they had one child - Carmin. While Carmin was a toddler, her half-sister Margo took over the challenges of raising her from her elderly mother, who moved into a small beach side retirement home along with her husband and Sam. Carmin was raised by Margo alongside Margo's own twin toddlers.
While Carmin was still a child her father died without her ever really knowing him well, leaving a lot of mystery about her alien origins. As an insane sim, she had a lot of trouble fitting in with the humans around her, and then as a teen her mother passed away. Margo's husband ended up having an affair when she was pregnant with her third child, which resulted in a messy divorce and a lot of heart ache for Margo. Luckily for her, when her own mother had moved to Sunlit Tides, a long time family friend called Rang Tran had come with her, and being a vampire he had been friends with her great uncle Juan since the very founding of the family back in Isla Paradiso. Rang is more heavily involved with the family in that he ended up marrying Juan's own daughter, the cousin of Pearl. Rang's daughter, Jo, actually grew up with Margo, and so she had a very tight knit family unit to fall back on when she was left divorced and with three young children, plus young Carmin to care for.
The family gets even more complicated when Rang and Margo fall for each other and end up getting married. Rang turned Margo into a vampire, and they had one daughter together. At this point her twins have returned from boarding school, all grown up and ready to live their own lives. But with a new baby in the family home, and a complicated home dynamic, the twins decide to move out to ease their mother's load. They decide to take the teenage Carmin with them, leaving Margo and new husband Rang to raise their child, and look after the resort empire their family is now known for.
Tumblr media
But Carmin doesn't stay with her nieces for long, because she leaves school and becomes a young adult. The origins of her father's alien side of the family burn in her mind, and after learning of a sim colony on the far planet of Lunar Lakes, she picks up and leaves her old life and family behind, to start anew on this alien world. Hoping for answers to her origins, Carmin joins the military and dreams of working her way up to becoming an astronaut, to further venture into space. She lives quietly and alone, searching for any trace of her own kind. After filling her garden with space rocks and searching the galaxy on her trusty telescope, she is finally visited by one of her own kind! She quickly asks her new friend Sapeha to move in with her, and the two become romantically involved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sapeha informs Carmin that there is in fact a way to journey into the future to a place called Oasis Landing, where even more answers await! And so the couple travel through the mysterious portal, and into a future world. Being skilled in handiness, Carmin takes to bot building, and even meets future descendants that still have her green skin and pointed ears. While in Oasis Landing she discovers a crashed ship in the Wastelands, which could just hold the key to the questions she has been asking all her life. After finding her way inside, Carmin discovers naught but a book, and decides to head home with Sapeha and focus on her new life and future with her alien lover.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since returning to the present Carmin has created two bots for the household, Zerto and Vimto, who she gave the power to feel love and happiness. The pair of robos are mates. Her very most recent venture is enrolling in an online university course, to gain a physical education degree. Her story continues!

"Hey, Justin! I've got to know something for you"
It was the next day after Justin and Chloe returned from their honeymoon. Andreas couldn't wait to tell his son the important news.
"I talked to your grandad's friend about your question of stopping being a vampire", - said Andreas. - "He found out something about it. There is a lady who knows a recipe of anti-vampirism potion. She lived in Isla Paradiso, but moved to Starlight Shores"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"That's great, Dad! I will visit her!"
"There's a problem actually. I know her name, but I couldn't find her address or phone number. It can take a lot of time to locate her, if you go there. More than you expect. Perhaps you will have to ask around about her or something like that"
"Okay, Dad, I understand. I will think about it. Anyway, thank you a lot!"

Tatiana was certain a sober mind and hot shower would wash away the emotional blunders of the previous night.
She was wrong.
First she caught herself eying Conquer's razor while she brushed her teeth. Then she found herself holding onto his bottle of body wash a second too long while making space for her own. Without realizing it, she dressed herself in an outfit meant to draw attention and justified making the older sim a cup of tea as a preemptive apology for going through his cupboards without asking.
When Lawrence entered and quietly washed his hands in the kitchen sink behind her, Tatiana prayed he didn't notice the second mug sitting beside her own on the counter. Before she could notice that Lawrence was also behaving suspiciously, as he was worried she'd realize he'd just peed outside, Conquer walked through the door.
Without missing a beat, Tatiana handed him a steaming mug stealing a look at him from beneath her eyelashes. She was too afraid to make eye contact.
While Lawrence returned to the living room to occupy his time with the video game system, Tatiana joined Conquer at the kitchen table searching for the courage to speak.
Why was this happening to her?
----
I think I forgot to say that when I added Glamour and the crew to Isla Paradiso during the CAS process I messed up and started to play a day and Conquer ended up getting a love letter from Tati. Then after fixing things, and introducing the gang for this leg of the save, those hearts came up. As I've already shown with a previous vacationer, Conquer is absolutely not the type to date significantly younger women, and certainly not women who were introduced to him when she was elementary school aged.
With these two prompts though, I figured an unreciprocated interest would not only be fine, but slightly entertaining.
As an aside, I'm not entirely sure with the unnecessary levels of drama baked into TS3 why they didn't make it so unreciprocated attraction is a thing. Like the levels of destruction that can come from a sim being into someone who hates their guts seems right up the game's alley.

wait wait wait wait wait wait wait... hang on... what if sims 2 psp bella is actually gloria goth from sims 3′s isla paradiso
not every neighborhood/world in ts3 actually takes place 50 years prior to ts2 - sunset valley does, monte vista and aurora skies are probably close, but lucky palms and dragon valley are probably only about 20 years prior, lunar lakes is somewhere in the future, and barnacle bay seems to be only a few years after sims 2 (dina has given up on mortimer, who canonically reunited with bella in sims 2 for gba, and goopy has a young daughter) - and without a living returning sim to judge approximately when a neighborhood/world would have taken place it’s not clear when isla paradiso could be taking place in the sims timeline (the only returning sim is edward dregg who is a ghost in both ts2 and ts3) so hear me out:
like i absolutely believe sims 2 psp is canon, but the bella seen in that game makes literally no sense as being the real bella. the real bella goth - the one we see in sims 1 - canonically loves the spooky and macabre. she loves ghosts and ghouls. she’s got 7 nice points and is canonically childhood friends with mortimer. and canonically, the real bella is an amnesiac - which is true of the strangetown bella in sims 2 for pc having no memories and that being a major plot point in the sims social. so the real bella would not marry mortimer for money, even if her feelings for him were not truly romantic, and even if she did she wouldn’t remember who he is or why they had ever been in a relationship to begin with because she’s an amnesiac so how could she even tell you about it... and she wouldn’t run from a haunted house because she delighted in living in haunted houses, and delights in being near ghosts. not to mention the fact that her face is subtly different from both bellas seen in the pc game.
traits the real bella goth is given in games that have traits are are “brave” (would not run from a haunted house) and “good” (would not use her childhood best friend for ulterior gain) in sims 3 and "family oriented” (would not run out on her children who need her) in sims 4 - however, gloria is a maid (has a lot to gain from using someone for ulterior gain and has a service job usually only hired by the wealthy and often mistreated, usually by those wealthy employers) who has the gold-digger lifetime wish and has the “ambitious” trait (WOULD use someone like mortimer for ulterior gain) plus “schmoozer” (increasing likelihood of gaining someone’s confidence and trust) and “light sleeper” (increased likelihood of being driven nuts by ghosts in her home) ... and she looks enough like bella to pass for her (similar facial proportions and a variation of the same hairstyle that the young bella does in sunset valley) yet still subtly different enough if you look closely (like psp bella to pc bella) ...

Dear Diary,
The time has come to return home to Isla Paradiso. This time I was able to convince Maya to come with me. She was anxious to get away from Shang Simla. Too many memories of her marriage, she says.
I wonder ...

Nraas woohooer sims 3 reset
Tumblr media
NRAAS WOOHOOER SIMS 3 RESET HOW TO
NRAAS WOOHOOER SIMS 3 RESET DRIVER
I have both immigration and emigration disabled, aside from telling it to replace NPCs with immigrants, which is just so I don’t get all the role sims tending booths and registers and working as mixologists looking like pudding sims. The town has been doing pretty well at keeping itself populated, and gave me a nice crop of children, which I showed off over on Carl’s board in this thread here and here. I have autonomous risky and try for baby turned on, to help keep population up and things interesting. It’s now the fifth week in the game, and I’ve been enjoying the popups from NRaas story progression and woohooer. During the game he married Gabrielle Arias and they now have a son. I used a CAS sim with the deep sea diver LTW and have been playing him. (Actually, I had the Wainwrights go to that when I plopped them in an IP save for their vacation in that chapter of Brilliant Minds.) The save works well enough to be playable, although periodically I have to reset Rubisel Ichtaca and Akoni Kahale when they become unroutable trying to go home. I put the three Supernatural rabbit holes into a small park-like lot that I placed on the main island, and I turned that one bar/hangout in town into a lounge. I converted one of the starter homes to a combination elixir shop and nerd hangout. I also put in a bunch of themed lots I found online, like a consignment shop, salon, fire station, and dive bar called the Salty Dawg. It gives me a little bit of a vicarious feeling of being on a vacation myself.Īnyway, I have a heavily altered IP starting save where I fixed some of the errors known to cause problems. Sure, the routing is insane and it’s possibly the worst world for lag, but it’s so gorgeous. So things have been going well with that save for several real life weeks.Every now and again I start up a save in Isla Paradiso because it’s such a beautiful world, and I enjoy the scenery and diving stuff. So now I'm wondering, is there any way to find out what went wrong with him that did such a number on my game? I've never had a bit of trouble from him in any game I've played in his original home world, and it took 4 sim weeks for this issue to occur in the current save, and those were all weeks when my active sim traveled extensively to the WA worlds, doing adventures and taking pictures. So when I was ready to play today, I opened that same last save, annihilated that sim with MC, then reset everything. He was a sim I had placed in the town when I started playing there, one I had made as a resident for one of my own worlds. As soon as the reset started, I got an MC notification of a script error on a sim, every time. I didn't have time to do any more with it that night, but I had noticed one thing. I actually went through the process more than just the four times I mentioned, but the same thing happened every time. I have to exit Kaspersky anti-virus to play my game, and I was pretty sure I had done so before I started playing the first part of the day, which I had had to quit before the day's end, but just in case I had missed doing so and the save was corrupted, I returned to the previous save from the day before and reset. So I started again, played to the end of the day again, saved the game, then reset, and once again, it got stuck processing. So I started from the last save, played to the end of the day again and reset again. I wasn't too concerned as things like that sometimes happen for on a one time basis. I had to use the task manager to close the game. Last night it was time for my sim-weekly town reset, but it got stuck on endless processing. On another note, I've just had some issues with resetting everything myself. I did refer her to the document on this site about improving game performance.
NRAAS WOOHOOER SIMS 3 RESET HOW TO
I wish I knew, so I could give her some suggestions as to how to fix it. Plus she always stretches the household limit in a big way, not to mention doing everything possible to promote multiple births from every pregnancy. She tried again, and everything went well, so she plans to continue resetting her towns regularly.Īs for why her games get corrupted so easily, could it possibly be because she uses a lot of CC? Also her computer isn't the best.
NRAAS WOOHOOER SIMS 3 RESET DRIVER
I explained to her about the graphics driver and the possibility she had chosen the wrong reset option.

Simvivor 15 Post-Disappearance Thread
Tumblr media
In this thread, we will go over the speculated and debunked returning castaways for Simvivor’s 15th season. Keep in mind this list is subject to change as new information is revealed. There was a ten-day quarantine prior to filming that began on April 2nd. At the time of publishing, it is April 17th, and filming began as of April 13th.
LAST UPDATED: April 17th April 19th
LIKELY
Baylor Ansari (Terra Amorosa - 7th) No social media activity after March 28th.
Brice Rivera (Dragon Valley - 4th) Social media activity persists, but it is likely that his accounts are being ran by someone else. Heavily speculated by reliable sources.
Dottie Rademaker (Redemption Island - 15th) No social media activity after March 28th.
Hudson Brothers (Felicity Island - 1st) Inactive on social media regularly, but he is speculated by a reliable source.
Jules West (Dragon Valley - 6th) Social media accounts are still active but her family’s farm recently made a post indicating that Jules was away for a period of time, likely confirming her.
Morgan McKay (Belomisia - 9th) No social media activity after March 14th. Sources suggest Morgan may have already been eliminated, however, because he was recently spotted near the filming location.
Pam Beesly (Belomisia - 11th) Inactive on social media regularly, but she is heavily speculated by reliable sources to be on. She missed multiple tapings of her work’s documentary series recently.
KEEP AN EYE ON
Benji Thompkins (Oasis Springs - 6th) No social media activity after March 10th. It is speculated that he may be on The Challenge 4, but sources are mixed.
Jaya Falk (StrangerVille & Kingdom Come - 3rd) Despite sources indicating no two-time players were contacted, Jaya has not posted on social media since quarantine began and new sources suggest that she may have been cast for the season.
Paul Wharton (Terra Amorosa - 6th) Inconsistent social media presence. Notably, he was contacted for The Challenge 4, and sources are mixed on him at the moment.
Ricky De Vries (Mt. Komorebi - 2nd) Social media activity persists, but his accounts were run by family during his first season. Not speculated to be on by some sources, but there are no reasons to debunk him yet.
Trevor Mallory (Ohan’ali - 10th) No social media activity after April 1st. His online shop has been temporarily closed and he is heavily speculated to be on. **UPDATE 4/19** Trevor’s online shop reopened briefly before closing again and some posts on his Simstagram were archived.
Yemi Atwater (Oasis Springs - 1st) Social media activity persisted throughout quarantine, but numerous sources suggest that Yemi is on the cast regardless.
DEBUNKED
Avaline Locatelli (Redemption Island - 5th) Dropped from the cast prior to filming.
Britney Pilzer (Isla Paradiso - 3rd) Announced to be a presenter at an awards show on April 28th. Speculation says she did not have an eligible partner for the show.

List your top 5 favorite Sims worlds
thanks @vidcundlover1000 for this brain excercise
Tumblr media
1. Isla Paradiso [ts3] - cherry on top of the franchise. the architecture, the hidden islands, houseboats, snorkeling, scuba diving, sirens that actually do something.
this world was so ahead of its time its unplayable without mods, especially when it comes to abandoned spawned vehicles. every sim is almost always late to work because the route to the town center is incredibly complicated: you gotta get on a bike, find the nearest boat, take a shortcut on foot through the hills, after 3 hours you’re almost there. lots are so small you can hear your neighbours voices. And those two brave paper kids that somehow manage to deliver newspaper every day without fail. essential workers.
Tumblr media
2. Windenburg [ts4] - i was automatically drawn to it because it reminded me of veronaville. there is even a little bit of lore hidden, which is unusual for ts4. ngl i love to watch the sunset on island bluff and take a dip in a dank pool.
Tumblr media
3. Riverview [ts3] - i remember playing the shit out of this town at the age of 13. i had to look it up on sims wiki to make sure i did not hallucinate this one. there are tons of returning characters, such as don and skip broke, but i was there for constance shelley and reading books in riverview park, taking walks around the octagon house and numerous small parks.
Tumblr media
4. Strangetown [ts2, ts2 psp] - we are all here because of strangetown, arent we...
Tumblr media
5. Veronaville [ts2] - veronaville is such a beautiful town i can’t believe it was shipped in basegame. stunning.

Where can I find the start of back to Bridgeport.
Hi Nonners!
You can find it here.
I should explain though that 'Back to Bridgeport' is a sub-story within a larger and much longer story, called 5 Years Later. 5 Years Later starts here.
5 Years Later is primarily based in 2 locations, Bridgeport and Island Paradiso (although I do occasionally meander over to Appaloosa Plains) and I created the 'Back to Bridgeport' header to let readers know that the focus had moved, (you guessed it!) back to Bridgeport.
My recent Isla Paradiso storylines have the header 'Return to Isla Paradiso'. (And I really must return in the very near future because I miss it so much!)
If that is all too confusing a link to my character page may help.
Thank you for the ask Nonners and for the interest in my story, it's very much appreciated!

After finishing elementary school at School of Peace and Love and Dribbledine Sports Academy, Erika and Dylan came home for several days. They spent some time hanging out with their parents and attempted going to high school in Isla Paradiso, but ultimately they decided they’d been happier at boarding school. They returned, and as the other kids reached the end of their elementary days, they all opted to stay in their respective schools until graduation.

Ever since I finished my emptied out version of Potato_Ballad’s Isla Paradiso I’ve returned to working on the Kedatuan. Here’s the new version of the town center. I chose a higher palisade, a more unified color scheme, and fewer buildings. I plan to decorate all the interiors; pictured are the interiors of the great house, possible site of the politics rabbit hole.
Currently, the site is a community lot, meant to house a few pertinent rabbit holes (politics and military)... that is. if I don’t just decide to put them in the Karakoa. In which case, this will become a regular residential.

Plumbobble Head’s Sims 3 LEPacy Challenge!
So I’ve had the Sims 3 for over a decade now, and in that time I’ve only really played with the Elgars... UNTIL NOW.
While I love my Elgars, there are so many aspects of the game I’ve never even touched, so I’m starting a new LEPacy challenge with specific gameplay goals for each pack! There are eleven EPs in total, which makes for twelve (!!) fun-filled generations! 🥳
🏠 One: Base Game
In the beginning there was a Sim... Her name was Isadora Plumb and she had just moved out on her own to Sunset Valley! Isadora’s lifetime wish is to befriend the whole town and become Super Popular. Her spouse must be an EA townie, and they must have a base game lifetime wish that I’ve never played. To earn a living she’ll join the Journalism career (one I’ve never tried!) and max the writing skill. I’ve also never played with a mooch or a kleptomaniac so Isadora is both!
Tumblr media
✈️ Two: World Adventures
For generation two the family will move to Riverview, a world I’ve already played in, but we won’t be spending much time there because this generation is all about adventure! The heir will have the adventurous trait and either the Great Explorer or Seasoned Traveler lifetime wish. They must reach a high enough visa level to purchase a vacation home in one or more of the three worlds. The heir must have at least two children with a foreign sim (or sims!).  They must also max the martial arts and photography skills.
🛠️ Three: Ambitions
The Ambitions gen is so *ambitious* it’s played with two co-heirs! They both move to a shared property in Twinbrook, where they will get matching tattoos to celebrate their new-found independence. Heir A will have the ambitious and eco-friendly traits and their lifetime wish will correspond with one of the Ambitions professions that I’ve not yet played through. Heir B will have the eccentric trait and Descendant of da Vinci ltw. They will register as self-employed in one of the skill careers and can earn a secondary income by selling things at the consignment store. This heir can only have children via the time machine (but a child of either of the gen three co-heirs can become heir for generation four).
🌆 Four: Late Night
After three generations stuck in the suburbs, this generation takes place under the bright lights of Bridgeport! The generation four heir is blessed with the star quality trait and wants to pursue fame and fortune in the big city. They can choose any of the EP’s lifetime wishes, but must reach level 5 celebrity status. They will live in a penthouse apartment and hire a butler to see to their every need. But life in the public eye means the heir is always at risk of becoming publicly disgraced... especially because they will have multiple romances! Someone in the family must also be a vampire (although it doesn’t have to be the heir).
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Five: Generations*
After growing up in the big city this generation’s heir wants a quieter life in Aurora Skies with the large, loving family they never had. The heir must have the family oriented and/or nurturing traits and the Surrounded by Family ltw. As per their lifetime wish, they must have at least five children... but will they be a strict or indulgent parent? At least one of their children will have their imaginary friend become real, and at least one of their children must attend boarding school.
*(EP does not come with new lifetime wishes or a new world)
🐾 Six: Pets
For generation six we’re off to Appaloosa Plains to live off the land! The heir - whether they be male, female or otherwise inclined - is unfortunately a horse girl. They must have the equestrian trait and Jockey ltw and must also max the riding skill. They and their spouse must not pursue traditional careers, but can support themselves by “farming”. This means gardening and possibly nectar making, but there’s some Store content that could work well here too. Every good farm has a cat and dog, which can be trained in hunting to sniff out collectibles for extra income!
🎤 Seven: Showtime
This generation’s heir grew up in the country but dreams of stardom in Starlight Shores! They have the natural born performer trait and their lifetime wish is to reach the top of one of the acrobat, magician, or singer professions. Like their great-grandparent, the heir must become a level 5 celebrity. But in spite of their fame the heir feels that something is still missing in their lives. Perhaps a genie will be able to make all their wishes come true...
🧙 Eight: Supernatural
Childhood memories of magical genie wishes have inspired the heir to move to Moonlight Falls in search of the supernatural! They must have the supernatural fan trait and become an occult sim (by whatever means necessary). Their spouse must also be an occult, but a different type to the heir. The heir must max the alchemy skill, but can choose any of the EP’s lifetime wishes. They will be so busy with their extraordinary magical life that there is no time for mundane things like housework... luckily Bonehilda is on hand to sort it out!
🍂 Nine: Seasons
This EP doesn’t come with any new lifetime wishes or a new world and doesn’t add a substantial amount of new gameplay (unlike generations). I’m not sure how I want to use it, or if I will skip it/combine it with another EP. For now I’m leaving it in as a wild card.
🎓 Ten: University Life
Gen ten is all about the pursuit of knowledge! The heir must attend university and can choose to study any of the majors I’ve never played. They can also choose ay of the EP’s lifetime wishes. The heir must gain the two extra trait slots by completing their degree and reaching max influence with at least one social group. They must also max the social networking skill. After returning from university the heir will make their home in Lucky Palms and pursue a career related to their chosen degree or social group. Because I’ve already played with plantsims, I might choose to add an alien to the family instead.
🏝️ Eleven: Island Paradise
The generation eleven heir loves to swim and will move to Isla Paradiso to live right on the water - literally - because they own a houseboat. They can choose any of the EP’s lifetime wishes but must also own a resort.  Profits from their resort empire will support them while they explore the island and max the scuba diving skill. There are rumours of mermaids in the island’s waters... will the heir be lucky enough to befriend one?
🚀 Twelve: Into the Future
The oceans are rising and the island is no longer paradise! The heir knows that the advanced technology is the key to the future... but will the future be utopian or dystopian? They will have the bot fan trait and must max the advanced technology and bot building skills. They can choose any of the EP’s lifetime wishes. I don’t where we’ll end up at the end of the challenge... possibly on Lunar Lakes!
That’s the plan anyway! I might not stick to it exactly, but I’m excited to play every generation/EP which is kind of the point of a lepacy challenge after all!
Feel free to use/adapt for your own purposes!

I love The Sims.
Which is why I will never stop being disappointed in TS4.
Lets do some math, and I’m going to keep this mainly between TS3 & TS4. While I did play TS2, there isn’t a lot of information readily available on what the games themselves cost at the time of release. I have some information on that, but I’m not sure if it’s 100% accurate as I was baby when they came out and my mom had to buy them for me. I’ll release it later if anyone is curious.
TS3 launched with a base game priced at $49.99, and throughout it’s lifetime accrued nine stuff packs at $19.99 each, and eleven expansion packs priced at $39.99 a pop. This comes to a total of $669.79.
TS4 launched with a base game price of $59.99 (that price soon dropped to $49.99 because the backlash was immediate), and introduced the new game pack. In total (as of 4/15/2020), TS4 has sixteen stuff packs at $9.99 each, eight expansion packs at $39.99, and eight game packs at $19.99. That comes to a total of $699.67.
That’s not a huge price difference. All in all, it’s about $30 if you want to get the whole, complete collection, so why do I dislike TS4 so vehemently?
Quality.
Let’s compare a few expansion packs just to get a feel for what the difference is.
TS3 launched the “Late Night” expansion at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Bridgeport) with 82 lots
Fame & reputation systems
Bars & night clubs
Apartments with penthouse suites
Subways
Elevators
Breast & muscle sliders in CAS*
Zodiac signs
A fountain tool*
Height adjustment for wall objects
Groups & bands
Butlers
Vampires!
The mixology skill
2 new traits (shy & star quality)
TS4 launched the “Get Famous” expansion at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Del Sol Valley) with 11 lots
Fame & reputation systems
Active acting career
Multiple ways to become famous
Music, video station, etc.
And that’s about it.
Now I’ll be the first person to admit that TS3 wasn’t perfect. Although it was a very full game, it struggled in areas of performance. With such large, open worlds, and detailed customization systems, it was pretty buggy for a lot of people, but we’ll talk on that more later.
But what I want to focus on is the disparity between these two packs, as they’re supposed to be mirrors of one another. “Get Famous” is the TS4 version of “Late Night”, so where did all the stuff go?
Well, EA broke it into 3 packs.
To get the full experience of “Late Night” in TS4, or at least something similar, you would need to purchase, “Get Famous”, “City Living”, and “Vampires”. That’s 2 expansion packs, and 1 game pack. So, to replicate the experience of “Late Night” you would need to spend $99.97.
That’s almost $100.
So, for an experience we paid $39.99 previously in the last installment, we’re now being asked to pay $100 for.
Is that fair?
Lets do another expansion pack comparison:
TS3 launched “Ambitions” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Twinbrook) with 82 lots
5 new active jobs that take you all around the world your sims inhabit
Firefighter, investigator, ghost hunter, stylist, and architectural designer
Self-employment
Sculptors, inventors, painters, writers, gardeners, and so on can all profit from at home work
Laundry
Tattooing career
New traits (eco-friendly, good observer, weirdo, etc.)
Consignment stores
Inventing
Sculpting
TS4 launched “Get to Work” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Magnolia Promenade) with 4 lots
3 new active jobs that take place in one location
Detective, doctor, scientist
Baking & photography skills
Retail lots
Illnesses for sims
Aliens
There’s definitely more crossover here, but “Get to Work” still falls short. $39.99 for a full game and all we get is a world with 4 lots? Even in TS2 “Open for Business” we had more to do.
And, that isn’t to mention the fact that “Get to Work” launched separately from the TS4 “Laundry Day Stuff” pack. So, to get a similar experience to TS3′s “Ambitions” you would need to purchase both “Get to Work” and “Laundry Day Stuff” at a total of $49.98.
One more comparison for good measure.
TS3 launched “Island Paradise” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Isla Paradiso) with 118 lots, the most of ANY TS3 expansion
Houseboats that can move anywhere around the island
Resorts that you can either visit, or own, manage & edit
New transportation modes
Boating, skiing, and windsurfing
3 new careers
Lifeguard, resort manager, scuba diver
Diving into fully realized underwater scenes
Sims could also catch fish, explore underwater caves & find sunken treasure
Shark & kraken attacks
Mermaids!
Missions to discover and unlock new islands
Blueprint templates*
TS4 launched “Island Living” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Sulani) with 11 lots
Docks & new foundation types
4 new careers
Conservationist, diving, fishing, and lifeguard
Mermaids!
Boats
Missions to clean up the island
2 new traits
In the case of “Island Paradise” vs. “Island Living” there are a quite a few similarities, but the disparity remains. Thankfully, this time around EA didn’t break “Island Living” into multiple packs, but imagine if in a few months we get a resort style pack? Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past EA.
In these pack comparisons, I hope I’ve highlighted some of the issues between what should have been pretty similar packs.
And, to clarify, I’m not saying that EA should have just copy pasted TS3 packs into the TS4 style, but for the amount of money they’re asking, the quality should remain the same. There should be a similar amount of features between each pack, but there isn’t.
With each expansion, it feels like EA is spending less and less time working on the unique gameplay features, and pouring more time into the general aesthetics of the packs. So, while TS4 is the prettiest of all The Sims titles, it’s also the emptiest.
Despite the shiny veneer of a good game with solid graphics, TS4 ultimately lacks depth. It doesn’t feel like a game, but rather a character creator. I spend more time building sims and their homes than I do actually playing out their lives.
All in all, I find that the “life simulation” part of TS4 is severely lacking. It mostly comes down to the little things, which is exemplified whenever I go back and replay TS2. Sims would cuddle their partner in their sleep, burglars were a real and present danger, raccoons would topple your trash can at any given chance, and friends would call all the time to ask if you wanted to go downtown.
It’s been 6 years since TS4 came out, and, from what the dev’s have said, they aren’t planning on pushing out TS5 anytime soon, but let’s dream a little bit about what could be.
In my perfect game, TS5 would include aspects of TS3 and TS2. The open worlds were great, but not many people’s computers were beefy enough to run them. The one thing I will applaud about TS4, is that its made with everyone in mind. We can’t all afford big, gaming computers, a lot of simmers play on their laptops, and we should all be able to play regardless of what type of machine we’re working with.
So, instead of fully open works with 90+ lots, I would like to see open neighborhoods. If we take the open concept of TS3, and combine it with the neighborhood style of TS4, we’d get an open world of about 15-20 lots. That’s nowhere near as big as TS3, but would allow for more fun neighbor interactions, and remove the constant load screens.
I’d also like to see a return of the color wheel. This is also a point of contention, where I understand that excessive customization really dragged down TS3 and made it unplayable for a lot of people. So instead of full customization, relegate it to just colors (instead of different materials like fabric, metal, wood, etc.,) and just CAS.
I think a lot of what gummed up TS4 was the fact that you could customize everything. Hair color, eye color, makeup, clothes, accessories, wallpaper, paint, tiles, flooring, chairs, sofas, decorations, and on and on. Restricting it just to CAS, and in a simple color wheel would give us so much more freedom.
A color wheel in CAS would also solve EA’s issue of diversity. While they’ve given us the ability to create trans and nonbinary sims (which is fantastic!), they’ve been really slow on any progress when it comes to skin tones. A color wheel would allow us to create sims of all colors, and give power to the players to create more realistic and diverse representations of their lives as sims.
The last thing I would really love to see is a return to the little details. Give us more randomness. Genies, walking skeletons, ruins we can explore that aren’t just rabbit holes, more active careers, more opportunities. Don’t be afraid to give us the weird things, we love the weird things! But don’t forget about the little things. Sims sitting in the grass together and chatting, sims leaving flowers at your door after a really great date, sims scooting together to cuddle while watching a movie together on the couch.
Overall, TS5 should just include more more, if that makes sense.
Leave your comments & thoughts below! I’d love to talk to ya’ll about this, its really been brewing for awhile.
*Features included in TS4 base game.
